  • Welcome to the French Quarter of the United States, New Orleans! Join this tour of French Louisiana: the home of Mardi Gras, the birthplace of American jazz, and the cultural hotbed of the Southern States. The city’s culture derives from a blend of French, Spanish, African-American, Creole and Native American roots. Under French colonial rule, it was a place where France sent their prostitutes, smugglers, counterfeiters and other petty criminals to start new lives. It became a haven and the beating heart of a vibrant, longstanding African-American community with deep roots. And even after the city’s destruction during Hurricane Katrina, the city dances on, celebrating life…
A spectacular documentary series looking at the most beautiful cities in the world.

Do you know why? Because the city burned down twice under Spanish rule. So they built back in the Spanish architecture style.
