Literally every New World country did this though. Wonder why leftists always concentrate on the US, but never talk about how Latin American countries stole indigenous territory.
Would you ever make a video on how the US has benefited the world. Show two sides of the story. The US has 800 bases around the world which seems crazy but in reality they are required to keep the authoritarian powers at bay. It is when sh*t hits the fan do we really realise how things aren't that bad in the West in comparison to Russia or China
@@notBabbon0123 This is an oversimplification if I have ever seen it. You are painting the Native Americans as some kind of perfect society, they weren't. They enslaved each other and went to war with each other all the time. They did participate in attacking white settlements unprovoked and many allied with the colonialists to fight their rival tribes. You are painting an incredibly biased narrative and it is disgusting to see. People these days just love manipulating history to pass off their own narratives. If you are going to tell a story, TELL THE WHOLE F*CKING STORY and from EVERYONE'S point of view.
I remember in 5th grade while attending a catholic school I first learned of the trail of tears only as a foot note by my social studies teacher Mrs Harris, but it moved me so much that I did a whole report of the Nez Perce Tribe specifically on chief Joseph and I concluded with his now famous surrender speech and his one before the President at the time Rutherford B Hayes. “I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. Looking Glass is dead. Toohoolhoolzote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say, “Yes” or “No.” He who led the young men [Olikut] is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are - perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.” “It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and all the broken promises. There has been too much talking by men who had no right to talk. Too many misinterpretations have been made; too many misunderstandings have come up between the white men and the Indians. If the white man wants to live in peace with the Indian he can live in peace. There need be no trouble. Treat all men alike. Give them the same laws. Give them all an even chance to live and grow. All men were made by the same Great Spirit Chief. They are all brothers. The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it. You might as well expect all rivers to run backward as that any man who was born a free man should be contented penned up and denied liberty to go where he pleases. If you tie a horse to a stake, do you expect he will grow fat? If you pen an Indian up on a small spot of earth and compel him to stay there, he will not be contented nor will he grow and prosper. I have asked some of the Great White Chiefs where they get their authority to say to the Indian that he shall stay in one place, while he sees white men going where they please. They cannot tell me. I only ask of the Government to be treated as all other men are treated…Whenever the white man treats the Indian as they treat each other then we shall have no more wars. We shall be all alike - brothers of one father and mother, with one sky above us and one country around us and one government for all.” *note- This happened in 1984 where the school library and local library were the main resources for any information. Also what I had been taught was Chief Joseph had been forced to leave his home in the Pacific Northwest and was sent far away to a reservation and then he resisted and tried to get him and his people back to the Pacific Northwest. Learning so little about this in class and not much more was offered in the libraries about this is when I realized nations will go to great lengths to protect their perceived image as being good. This of course led to stop blindly trusting my government, which over the years I learned about not just the US Dark Secrets but those of its Allies, and even its enemies.
As a Native American born and raised on the reservation, I wish all people who tell immigrants “go back to your country “would realize this is NOT truly their country !!!!
If you're doing it right sponsors are afraid. But they're also afraid if you do something completely wrong. Not saying he's a bad one but I don't want people to make that general conclusion in the wrong direction
I don't blame the sponsors. The main purpose of marketing is used to associate the brand with something and make people be aware that so and so exists. Associating it with politics is a bad thing for the company because half the people in USA would completely disagree with this video and support the US Govt saying there is nothing wrong with what they did. So you should be blaming the racist people, not the sponsors.
This channel is kind of politically biased, as some information, even if just a little, is not correct. In 8:35 he referres to african slaves as "stolen africans". In fact the majority of slaves in the US was not stolen, but bought from african kingdoms. It appears like he really wants to make America look as bad as possible.

Multiple channels has already exposed the numerous ways in which Johnny distorts historical facts, and at times even downright lies in his videos. Sometimes he's correct in the things he says, but many other times he's spewing propaganda that leans to his political ideologies. And that's what's so dangerous about it. If he was simply spewing blatant propaganda 24/7 everyone could see that and take it for what it is... propaganda. But when he mixes in just enough facts that you let your guard down against bias and propaganda, people buy into it. It's a common tactic among most political parties, but dangerous and ignorant nonetheless.
Native Americans: Our Native American population in our motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions. Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLION'! A shocking sad truth. 😔
@@Aria-cd6dq Most of the native americans died before the British even arrived and over the centuries, most native Americans have mixed in with the group. You think all those Germans that arrived in the 1800's are still 100% German today?

It’s very important because we need to learn from our mistakes; where it can get dangerous, however, is when it’s done in a biased way to push an agenda. What the Europeans did in America was horrible, however , unfortunately it was the same thing that the natives were doing to one another before the Europeans arrived. In fact it’s the same thing that has been happening in every piece of land by whichever group of people that had power did for the history of humanity. Humans are very flawed. I wish his videos would be less biased stocking tribalism and division.
Treaties and justice have been damned since the beginning of time. Ask the crushed gazelle between the jaws of the mighty lion what treaties & justice he has experienced.

Furthermore, no one who agrees this was terrifying would give any of the land back today, and I mean, not one acre of the millions of miles of untouched lands. So currently, still all terrible.
And now they White Americans and its Western IMPERIALIST Allies are pretending to be 'Guardians of Democracy and Human Rights Police' for the rest of the world , how ironic history is .😅😂😢

Add the kidnapping of Africans to do all the labour to build a country. Beating, raping, destroying their culture, splitting up their families, treating them like animals. The theft of the land, the Genocide of Native peoples and the capturing and enslaving of Africans for 400 years of free labour cursed this country. Native American (Navajo) right here! I was born and raised on an “Indian” reservation, then moved to the southern states (Tennessee/ Alabama). Which after learning the history here, it’s so sad to see many towns/ cities/ counties with Native American names that were once home to a thriving community of Native Americans (especially Chattanooga, TN)…. yet no sign of Native Americans AT ALL. And even the local people are always so fascinated with meeting me because I’m always the first “real Indian” they’ve met. It seriously pains me deeply when I think about it.
I really appreciate you giving such a clear voice to these events. Unfortunately this is not in every history class in the US, even though, it should be. I honestly appreciate your efforts here. Looking forward the second part.
Although I was born and raised here, my skin color often leads people to ask where I'm from. I understand their curiosity. However, when I once asked a young man the same question, he responded angrily, declaring himself a proud United States citizen. It surprises me how deeply some people's egos are affected, to the extent that they seem to forget their entire history.
The natives had been there for a certain number of years before being considered natives. How long does it take to be called natives? The U.S. has been established for over 300 years. Is that enough time? Look at Europe now; many countries were established just a few hundred years ago, and their borders are constantly changing. That's why every country has a military. If the U.S. did not have a strong military, I believe the country would be gone soon. Consider some countries in Asia, like Russia, which conquered vast land in Siberia from indigenous people, China, which took land from the Mongolians, and Vietnam, which expanded its territory to the south from Cambodia. However, in these countries, they never talk about it; they consider themselves natives to the land. I think Americans are very open-minded to allow these stories to spread.
Because alot of these people know they don’t have a true history or origin outside of not ever being here while the stolen lineage & spiritual beliefs are stolen from the same slaves that built this country

The only thing I know of where I come from is the United States, also when people ask me personal questions I don’t have an answer to it triggers a long held resentment to being abandoned. When I was younger I was more proud about it as a cover to how I was feeling about not knowing anything about myself.
Hey Johnny! I wrote my senior paper on the topic of Native American removal and symbology in US institutions. I have several maps and documents that show the context of the removal of Native Americans in the Midwest/Illinois region. The Potawatomi tribe was relocated from the Chicago area all the way to Oklahoma in the Trail of Death which occured around 1838. This entire trail is still marked today and I'd recommend speaking to Dr. George Godfrey about this specific topic if you'd like to know more. He has a lot of wisdom about his ancestors and what they endured.
Yeah, call me pessimistic, but you should share your info with folks who are interested in a consistent study of this. It's likely ol' Johnny is one and done here. He doesn't have to and so probably won't ever think too deeply about this ever again.
Yes, very similar mentality drove that genocide too. I guess the only glimmer in Canada is that many there are recognizing the scope of the genocidal treatment of Indigenous Canadians.

Thank you Johnny! Wanishi, Mvdo!!! It’s been pretty easy to tell you we’re working up to this topic, and I’m not disappointed from the results. I’m a member of the Seminole tribe of Florida and a descendant Delaware Tribe of Indians/Lenape. So many of my family’s stories come from initial contact. The Lenape were initially on the coast of Delaware and Pennsylvania and even into New Jersey and New York. There are many contemporary issues that arise when trying to be present in our homelands from a lack of financial resources to CPAIN issues of identity. Native issues are issues that we deal with every day, but I’m always happy to see support towards native peoples on the internet. I hope the next video brings in The McGirt ruling which shows how Native people never gave up our sovereignty. The Lenape people are eventually were pushed right into Cherokee territory and now are subject to their jurisdiction. The fact that dozens of tribal nations were piled on top of each other and told to figure it out is so baffling to me. But we did, and now other tribes all across the U.S that are still in their traditional territory are also claiming to express their sovereignty. All that to say I hope the next video talks about how we are still here, we did not “loose”. Many tribes still hold onto their sovereignty and their culture. We feel we won, we are the living proof that the U.S failed at trying to erase our ancestors. Keep up the good work Johnny! Side note, its so disappointing this kind of video isn’t being sponsored, this kind of topic is never discussed at this level on social platforms.

@@notBabbon0123 This is an oversimplification if I have ever seen it. You are painting the Native Americans as some kind of perfect society, they weren't. They enslaved each other and went to war with each other all the time. @@aa-ron2840 no that would be Johnny Harris
Really good way of putting it.
From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.”
“It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and all the broken promises. We shall be all alike - brothers of one father and mother, with one sky above us and one country around us and one government for all.”
*note- This happened in 1984 where the school library and local library were the main resources for any information.

At the 5:37 mark, There's a song by a prog metal band named Protest The Hero called Little Snakes, and it talks about this entire thing - in fact that particular album is entirely a critical analysis of America, but the starting lyrics to the chorus of that song is "We can make an exception, And they can make some concessions, Because there’s gold in the Black Hills" And I'm not comfortable putting the rest of the lyrics here as they quickly get VERY powerful. This band does not hold back it's words and this song has a VERY strong message behind it. I do recommend checking it out. Thanks for everything you do Johnny.

Thank you for creating such an informative and thought-provoking video on the history of the United States and its treatment of Native Americans. The use of illustrations really helped to convey the message clearly. It's important to acknowledge and learn from the past, and your video provided valuable insight into a topic that is often overlooked. The emotional impact of the video really made me think deeply about the issue. Keep up the great work Harris.

@@marzupalami every news article ever is biased
@@marzupalami Can you expand on what was biased? I'm sure he was overly critical of the US as he always is but this video I don't know enough about the topic to say where it was very bias.
@@marzupalami Yeah early people settled might have fought and replaced one another....but they don't do so unethically. I mean you sign a peace treaty, you give their right on land and when gold/cotton was found. Those treaties are just papers... you see it's clearly unethical....if you say yourselves as civilised and do such things..then probably you are far less civilised then original inhabitants.
Just admit it you stole...or occupied illegally if you want to do it in such a way.
@@marzupalami true that no country will ever admit this....but at the same time if two groups fight and one wins..it is clear and ethical that he won fairly but the winner was also addressed as agressors/invaders and is not whitewashed as liberator. You cannot call yourself as civilised and democratic if you act in such unfair manner of occupying lands of natives.
That's hypocritical...USA now calling Russia as Invaders but at time that's what USA has done in Afghanistan, Vietnam or Iraq.
Ps: I am not defending Russia's agression.

As someone born and raised here in Oklahoma, I am quite familiar with the history of this land. I can’t wait to hear what you have to report about it. Accuracy and respect for the natives that did, and do, reside here are much appreciated when it comes to reporting. TYSM for telling the real story. My husband is half Cherokee. I’ve owned primarily Appaloosa horses most of my life. From this I learned the story of Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce . From the Cherokee side I learned the story of the Trail of Tears. Chief Joseph’s words are etched in my heart and resonate profoundly today. Every year at our Pow Wow I walk the sacred circle. Reclassifications...???
Thanks for this enormously informative presentation. I’m barely part of the Cherokee nation, 1/64, but my blood boils when i watch this. My heritage is Scott, Irish, English, German and Cherokee. I’m so grateful for my life here in America but ashamed and heartbroken for how this country progressed. Keep up this excellent work and making those of us who are interested, informed with the truths of which we have been kept ignorant.
@conniepaperparadise3848 Same! I'm 1/16th Cherokee, also with Scot, Irish, German and probably English (my maiden name was of English origin). I have always felt so deeply saddened when I would see how horribly the Cherokee and all First Nations were treated; even as a child, I hated "cowboy and Indian" movies, as the "good guys" were really the bad guys and vice versa. It's shameful what the white settlers did and how the government bulldozed its way across this country with lies and deceit and violence, making up rules as it went and making "laws" that it ignored as it pleased them. Funny how the same is still true today.
Everyone claims Cherokee but wouldn't claim tribes in Mexico, especially those who look and are actually plain white.
@@Gamefreak924, goofy white guys like claiming to be Cherokee, the most faked tribe in the world, but they wouldn't claim native Mexican roots.
Don’t feel bad for the Natives they were terrible people. They killed and r*ped women and children plus they owned slaves. They weren’t innocent little angels.
How do you think they got that land?
what ppl are ignorant of is how the natives were guilty of what they accuse others of too. doesn't make what americans did right, but doesn't make the natives right either. how did other tribes feel about being raided and slaughtered and having their just old enough but not too old children taken? how did all the other tribes feel about the aztecs taking them over and sacrificing many?
again, it's wrong to only focus on others' wrongs while ignoring or being ignorant of your own, even worse to cover up your own. even more worse, to use as means to get gain.

This still takes my breath away; heard this from my US History 101 Professor 1983, in a similar "no apology" narration of what the hell really happened to the Native American of this continent. It was novel back then, and breaks my heart that it is still a novel story to hear...very very little has changed in 40 years.
