- More comings and goings from Waverley West during the 1980s, when trains were far more interesting than they are now.
We see plenty of MGR action behind 26s, 56s and 58s, Speedlink services with varied traction and an oil train. 47s and HST dominate the passenger services, but we also see a spate of HST failures, when 47s stepped up to the mark to haul dead HSTs. ScotRail-liveried push-pull services between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street can also be seen.
Love this layout. Spent many a day sat on that trolley at the end of the platform late 70’s early 80’s when I travelled up from Newcastle. Those were the days when trains were trains 👍Any chance of a full layout tour but from a high rather than cab ride? Love to see it in its entirety
spot on mate , all the best from lancashire
Wow that's one great layout this takes me back to when I was young boy going to Seaton sands for a holiday with mum & dad two sisters cousins in the 70s Leaving from Queen Street station to wavley station & to see this Great layout in model form Am speechless the feeling I've got is just joy a could loose my self for days observing the details the work is just magic 👍💯
Thanks! I decided to model Waverley as my sister lived in Fife in the 80s and I often used to go to the station to watch the trains come and go. Glad to know it's brought back memories for you, just like it has for me.
I can picture the two 26's at the start taking the MGR to Cockenzie...It's my dream to do a project of that, came close to starting it before. Got the space in the form of my own garage, just need about £5000 to get the wagons needed, and about another £5000 to get the locos!
If it weren't for the camera movements and positions (and quality!) you could think this was real footage, what an amazing layout.
Absolutely love your layout. Reminds me of my train journeys between Wakefield and Edinburgh as a child. If my layout ends up half as good as yours I will be very pleased.
Hi, I love seeing your layout here. I just sat and watched about a dozen videos back to back, so delightful were they. Your class 47's are just a dream with the sound you have installed in them, I especially liked one of the earlier videos showing "Doncaster Enterprise" on parcels, that loco never seems to get much attention from modellers and yet it was such a distinctive livery. Anyway a most outstanding layout, one of the very best. All the best Dave.
What a great channel will have a binge watch 👍👍👍
Thanks Dylan, I hope you enjoy your binge watching!
Super running session. Well done! Hugh
Cracking layout this!
More please!
Brilliant running session, enjoyed every minute, cheers darrell
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for uploading.
Fabulous layout, looks so real. may i ask how you did the brick wall, is it card printed or mold kits?
Thanks! The wall is Slater's embossed plastic card painted as close as I could get to the real thing using photographs. I glued the plastic card to a hardboard backing to give it some strength.
What track gauge are you using? Looks superb!!!!
Thanks! It's 00.
Love Waverley station.
Which kits did you use or were they scratch built? ? Reminds me of home.🏴🇯🇵
Thanks! I used Ratio's station canopy kits for the canopies, but apart from that it's all scratch-built.
Hi love the layout and want to know how long it is between the station to the tunnel as want similar as of seeing the playability my idea did not have
Hi, It's about a metre from Waverley Bridge to The Mound Tunnels. Greatly compressed from the real thing of course, but I think it still works. I still managed to get pretty close to the track layout as it was in the 1980s.
Excellent model. Is it a private model or a club model , what is the size etc ? I used to have a model of the same many many years ago when I was a teenager but nothing as good as this but the availability of quality modelling products has really come on in recent years to help make outstanding items.
Thanks! It's a private layout. Yes, the availability of high-quality scenic products is definitely making the life of the modeller easier! I started the layout nearly 20 years ago and I've really noticed the quality of the new scenic products and new models being released.
simply just hooray ,
I could watch this all day long, except for the HST's being towed. Not how remember them ! Behave !
Ha ha, sorry, Paul. No offence meant! My HSTs are normally pretty reliable.
