Excellent, I'm definitely adding this to my wishlist for 2025, it'd be nice to have one of those even if just to see how many of the train I need to get me to work in the mornings is delayed or canceled...
On the freight thing, you will presumably get the "The next train is not scheduled to stop at this station" warning if you've set it to an appropriate station- for example Mirfield when the Drax Biomass trains go through.
I'd love to see this made on the continent as well, would love Dutch, French, German or Belgian announcements.
I'd honestly love to get one in my house one day, would make a great conversation starter for sure!

I have one of these on my 21st Birthday list, which is 6 months today.
I'm tempted to buy one of these for the West Riding pub at Dewsbury station, as it's a real pain being so close to the platform but no way to see the departure boards!
Hear, Hear! And it would be a nice talking point for the pub too.
I think these things are best for places like pubs, that are close to railway stations. If you set up a wall with a couple of these on it (with the sound turned off) you can display the trains going in both directions. The same could be done for busses too. For normal people, I'm not sure they are so useful.
Does the departure board say "See it! Say it! Sorted!" if you leave the audio on long enough?
I use the P4 (i.e. large) version which is excellent. I also add weather, and news to be displayed on the third line every 20 minutes.

It would have been nice to see more of the display instead of a quick unlevel flash.
Great to hear Display Boards have finally included built-in speakers. They just need to change the power from the side to the centre bottom of the display as that's where the power sockets would be.
How about a new series: Pointless Destination Boards. Including: Stourbridge Town and Wedgewood

Had no idea it supported Ireland! If you visit by the way may I suggest Sutton - Sutton or Euston - Heuston point to point journeys, obviously no railway across the Irish Sea but Irish Rail and Irish Ferries do a thing called SailRail!

Local council (Dundee) missing a lot of real time displays for bus stops now including one near to my house, maybe I should buy one of these to help them out! 😂 But seriously the pub idea mentioned before is great, my local has a board that’s TV sized and I’ve seen IPads used before too!

Howth is a very nice train trip from Dublin, would definitely recommend it.

These would be cool if not for being hundreds of pounds, a fun novelty but by no means worth the cost.
it does look like these may be for some more public places and thus have a use. ( a nearby pub has been suggested by others )
Maybe they are useful for garden and minature railways, should every preserved group have one in its station office too ?

@@highpath4776 Unfortunately, this system would not work for heritage railways, unless they set up their own timetable broadcasting feed, that Departure Boards UK could tap into. You are probably looking at something like a GPS tracker that would need to be installed in every preserved train, with the drivers needing to enter the headway codes into the electronics. Plus a central computer. Having said that, I think the heritage railways could probably collaborate on the project and have a single central computer that does all the dynamic timetables for different railways across the UK.

Hi, cool video! Do you know if you can actually create custom train that not exist? And could you only show one platform per time and not the whole station? And can it show the number of carriages? Ty!
An airport version would get a certain demographic interested

I would love to get the desktop version, but it is on the pricier side.
Problem with boards ( and its not this makers fault ), is you get a Delayed-Expected (Time) then the delay clears or time is made up and the thing arrives quicker - I would certainly like for next arrival a line saying where the unit actually is. I have missed trains at stations where it said expected 1755 and then it turned up on time at 1738 while I did a coffee break. Can the output (or input data) be recorded for a later playback?

Does it do Heritage railways?
Could you do stations like Ealing Broadway, where you have both Tube and Rail?

Try putting up some quirky/humourous/sarcastic custom station messages, they don’t have audio but people will think they’re official and genuine.
Pointless journey Video idea : Tattenham Corner to Epsom Downs they're local, 30 mins by walk and not liked by bus let alone train.
Don't really understand why they don't offer a medium sized 25-30cm version, I think it'd be incredibly successful

You mean a big LED board, the custom software and online backend that makes it work, and the non-free access to the transport data APIs of every operator it supports. Seems fairly reasonable to me.
Does it do the "see something that does't look right? Text the British Transport Police on 61016. See it. Say it. Sorted." announcements too?
