Amazing changes. i remember when I went to the "Save on meats" store with the big famous neon "pig sign" outside to save on groceries, bought meats, fruits and vegetables there. Also went to Army and Navy store sometimes. The Sears store is gone years ago. They had a great sewing notions and fabric store in the area too. Yes, there were many poor people in the area, living in the hotels that have been there a long time, but at least they were housed. Not sure if the VCC is still open in the area anymore. And look at it now, Hastings and Main street. The system has failed majorly. The one and only message is DONT DO DRUGS.

@@heavenlyxtacy But bring the example of US let´s say poverty in the United States is a complex and persistent issue, affecting millions of people across the country. While the US is one of the wealthiest nations in the world, income and wealth inequality have been on the rise in recent decades, contributing to an increasing poverty rate.
According to the US Census Bureau, the official poverty rate in 2020 was 11.4%, representing approximately 37.2 million people living in poverty. However, it's important to note that poverty rates vary significantly across different regions, states, and demographic groups.

Junkies and those homeless people are not poor. They can earn 1 million dollar and it will still only last for less than a month. More money = more and expensive drug. I get surprised when people hate legal immigrants coming in Canada to earn money by working hard while paying more taxes, but not the govt. or drug dealers who are born and raised in Canada yet help to ruin this country. Everything is too expensive nowadays that hard working citizen can't hope to save enough money to even buy a house unless they commit to around 30 years of mortgage. Being junkie and homeless is easy, as you get instant pleasure, and free place to live and govt. charge normal worker more taxes so they can build you a shelter.
