OMG YES! Thank the gods I found this! I needed this for one of my Guild Wars 2 characters, who's a closeted bi, but he can't tell any of his friends in Cantha (essentially Ancient China) bc laws were put in place where homosexuality was pretty much seen as a bad thing- my head canon of Cantha being more historically accurate than the game itself. (I *highly* doubt Anet themselves would do that with the upcoming expansion, seeing that they have an in-game Pride parade and lots of LGBT+ NPCs) Long story short, thank you for covering this song, and you sang it beautifully.
That sounds like a really neat character, for sure! Not to break your bubble though, but Homosexuality in Ancient China was not seen as a bad thing. It was actually the norm (bisexuality, mostly). Laws like that being put in place is a very modern thing, only starting in the 20th century. And it doesn't seem to be lasting. China is slowly creeping out of it's old ways, and embracing it's ancient past, especially the new generation. (Hanfu, etc.) They're very open!

I will definitely use this cover for my movie, Kuzco in Blue’s Clues Blue’s big Musical Movie! I will have Kuzco sing this during the moment when he is going to the Blue’s Clues house with Munk, and Mambo following right behind them.
i think the only thing I would change is the lyric "brother". "Husband," would be more fitting, considering 1, not everyone is brother, nor does the long alone demonstrate that the singer is a brother, other than that line, and 2, putting husband would be another similarity between the original lyrics, "perfect bride or the perfect daughter." Also, just as the original film put pressure on Mulan become the perfect wife, it also demonstrate the perfect husband with the soldiers whom Mulan spends time with. It's indirect, but it's still there. However, if by having the lyrics be brother, your implying that this character would have been Mulan's brother, that's awesome as well. I'd be down for that. Maybe there would be twins, wish for the life that society is pushing on their sibling. I'd watch that. Although I'd watch this movie anyway. Disney needs more male characters like this. That's one reason why I love Tanged the Series' Varian so much. He's not physically imposing, but that doesn't make him not AWESOME and TERRIFYING when he feels he needs to be. Also, he's a dork, and I've ALWAYS leaned towards the smart nerdy kids than the puff guys personally.
