We had a saying like this about the Calculus and Differential Equations courses (a depressing series of them, important fundamentals that in a 35-year career I have used...exactly once). "Calculus is what makes engineering majors decide they have a brighter future in business school."
My mom tried her best to convince me to apply for medical school. I am glad I didn't give into her wishes. Medicine is a difficult and stressful field.
Neither one of my sons would touch it with a ten foot pole. (I am retired after 30 years of practicing medicine.). To quote: “Mom, all you ever do is work & worry.”

I am not proud to say this but I flunked nursing school. After watching this video one thing that hit me in a new light is that we were never allowed to say I just don't know. We either knew it or we made stuff up until we got it right. No one was there to correct you they just expected you to know or drown. Since that period in my life I have learned that I should not be ashamed for not knowing something and that I should be able to rely on others to help expand my knowledge.
Nursing school is hard and I understand what you're saying. If you think nursing school is hard, then try transitioning from a nursing student to being an actual nurse. Trust me when I say this, real life nursing is SO hard. And one more thing: they DON'T teach you everything in nursing school. You have to learn some of the things on the floor. One of the nurses told me that I have to throw everything I learned out the window. I told her everything felt new to me and they didn't cover everything in school.
+paladindragoongirl18 I guess you're job is made worse if you get patients who are terrified of the hospital. I once had severe food poisoning and being in the hospital makes me scared and we had to wait three hours at one before we got called up and I was shaking from fear and then I vomited most of my stomach contents onto the floor, it was such a huge puddle that they had to use two cans of that sawdust stuff to clean it up and the other people in there had to relocate to another room until it got cleaned up and my grandpa took me out there since I started to feel better after that. I do have a question though and I don't trust Google for the answers: I get REALLY sick after I get my shots for the flu and other things, usually after I get those shots I do get sick with those things I was vaccinated for like what the fuck? Shots are supposed to help you fight it off by strengthening your immune system, not make you sick. Is there a reason for this? It happens every time I get shots no matter what so I quit going in for checkups.
+Pocket Mouse Some people do have rather severe reactions to some of the things in those shots, and not all shots are as effective as they claim to be. If you're old enough to be on UA-cam, you probably already have most of the shots that really are important. The only one that I still occasionally need is a tetanus booster, and I only get that if I cut myself on a rusty piece of metal, which doesn't happen very often. (Tetanus boosters are good for five years. I think I have needed a whopping ONE.) There are some shots where the benefits do outweigh the risks, especially the nastier ones, and especially for the younger children. Most of the ones that are recommended now, though, aren't really necessary, especially not as often as they are recommended. If they are making you sick, I would say to definitely stop getting them, unless there is one that you absolutely have to have. For example, you probably DO want to get a malaria shot if you're going to Africa or somewhere like that. For the rest, do your research, but you're probably going to be okay.
Katherine S thank you! so I can drop most of my shots then and I do not plan on being sexually active until I marry but its still a good idea to get those std shots right?
Massive respect to all of you doctors and nurses on the front lines during this crisis! I appreciate all the work you put in. Once this is all over, you all deserve extended vacations.
@@TheresaHall-vl1bm it all depends on the hospital. At my local hospital, most of the nurses seem to enjoy their job there. Pay and work environment are the most important aspects for nursing jobs. I honestly believe all the doctors and nurses deserve a huge pay raise after dealing with the pandemic.
I love how she proclaims "My social life is gone~" while literally all of her coworkers proceed to do a choreographed dance behind her in support of her singing
My advice is don’t . I loved medicine and I still do . But it’s stressful as hell . And also say goodbye to free time and social life . You have to know that if you want to be a med student , you’ll have to sacrifice those . I don’t regret it personally but I wish it wasn’t as stressful. I’ll give you an idea , idk if it’s the same in the US or not but here , you have to get a highschool average if over 97% to be able to get into med school . The first 2 years aren’t bad at all . But 3rd year and on it gets really difficult . By the end of 3rd year everyone should master basic skills and knowledge which is a lie (lol) . Nobody can but of course gunners can haha . 4th year is the first clinical year . We were told that after finishing 3rd year we’ll relax more (also a big fat lie) . So 4th year is the worst year ever! Partially because of how much you need to memorize . But mostly because in this year you need to start preparing yourself for international medical exams . Like USMLE . Which is really difficult and time consuming . Well After that you need to specialize and residents do have their own problems but I’m not one yet so Idk . So this is just brief info about med school . If you can handle the stress go for it .

Lol, this was so weirdly perfect. Imagine you’re there, and you see some lady screaming,” I DONT KNOW” at the top of her lungs in a lab coat... Yea...miss I think I’m considering switching doctors, do you mind?
Her: *I DONT CARE*
But she would care, because she's a wannabe psychiatrist.
Oh god! i love it. her voice is beautiful
Luh Sriabdini fun fact: it’s a professional singer on the recording, she’s just lip syncing the lyrics.
BAC, I had to look this up because of your comment and you are incorrect. It's Beanie Meadow and she is the person in the video.

Ok I actually didn't get that line. Can you explain it please?
Me too. Don't understand
Pls someone further elaborate i am dumb can't understand this phrase
@@savannahprice9041 an attending is someone who has completed their residency and training and stuff and typically supervises fellows, residents and medical students
@@savannahprice9041 The end of medical training is an apprenticeship (lasting years, sometimes over a decade, depending on specialities/subspecialties) with attending(s), experienced physician(s), supervising and teaching the young physicians. Part of the training is been traditionally to patronize and humiliate the young doctors if they don't know as much as the experienced doctors (they obviously can't). I figure we take this info for granted but is specific to the medical field

So to all those saying these are doctors saying idk.. This is a 3rd year medical student. The first two years is in class.. The 3rd year is the first time you work in thr hospital and start translating the book knowledge into clinical practice... soooo she probably doesn't know. She is learning. It takes 8 years of school plus residency to be a doctor. ..
You mean a DOCTOR OF MEDICINE. Again, all a doctor has is a DOCTORATE IN A FIELD. If I get my Doctor of Musical Arts Degree, I TOO would be a doctor. They don't have a monopoly on the term "doctor."

I'm in engineering, not medicine, but that lyric struck a chord (pun intended!) with my own university memories.

Homo Sapien hugely rewarding though.
Neither one of my sons would touch it with a ten foot pole. (I am retired after 30 years of practicing medicine.). To quote: “Mom, all you ever do is work & worry.”

Homo Sapien Become a pain specialist and write refills all day for pre-existing conditions. Make it an assembly line.
You are really intelligent don’t waste your time in MedSchool
Pocket Mouse I work at a nursing home, by the way. The hospital setting must be harder though.
I think I have needed a whopping ONE.)
There are some shots where the benefits do outweigh the risks, especially the nastier ones, and especially for the younger children.
This is exactly what I need to give me a good laugh on a bad day. It's been two years and I still watch it time to time. Absolute gold.
Massive respect to all of you doctors and nurses on the front lines during this crisis! I appreciate all the work you put in. Once this is all over, you all deserve extended vacations.
Unfortunately we got convince their idiot bosses that.

@@francescaderiu8871 thats so nice. thanks! i definately will!
Appropriately, being a doctor or a nurse always seemed like THE MOST TERRIFYING job and I would never, ever do it. This singing doctor is a boss.

Because second languages are not passed down through genetics
@@user-hx9cc1qh3h I was born with a brown skin color and for that I'm labeled as hispanic. I come from a family, including parents, that speak Spanish fluently and for that I'm labeled as Mexican.
