What an amazing haul, for $1.99 each! A little history on the condition of the Beatles album: Yesterday...And Today was initially released with the infamous "Butcher Cover". The cover created some controversy, so Capitol Records had the initial pressings recalled, and the pasted the replacement cover photo over the "Butcher Cover", then issued subsequent pressings with the new cover. Many people who bought the album with the pasted on replacement cover peeled that cover off. The copy you have is one that had the replacement cover peeled off. And even those can go for a good bit of money. So, finding it for a $1.99 is great bit of luck!
Created "some" controversy? Dude, that's like saying Hitzer created "some" problems in 1930's and 1940's Europe. Record companies don't recall printed album covers and paste over the artwork willy nilly. Nice of you to point out why his album looks the way it does though... thanks
I was blown away when you pulled out the butcher cover! Also, great score with Jethro Tull’s BENEFIT album. Tull is my all-time favourite band, and that’s a heavy album!
Some of the covers were papered over and sold anyway. It looks like you may have gotten one of them that someone pulled the paper off to see the original cover.
Great collection of records. Wow, what a find with that Beatles album. I found a strata east record, which is about the rarest thing I have ever found / seen in a thrift store. Cheers!

I’m your age and love vinyl. When I was young there was a store in my town called RTC or Record Trading Center and they bought and sold records and it was a great store. So glad to see a resurgence in vinyl.
Awesome!..........I'm lucky enough to have a second state stereo version..........yes it's quite a thrill when you pull something like this......Thank you for sharing your finds.
There's something nice sitting in the wet, cold Pacific Northwest and listening to Hawaiian music, of whatever type. My brother thrifted a quite exquisite album for me a couple weeks ago: Hawaii Calls: with Al Kealoha Perry: Presented by Webley Edwards. The vinyl cleaned up nice and it sounds very good. You've got to get this just to listen to Hawaiian War Chant. :)
I played with the same toys - Maj. Matt Mason, Hot Wheels, etc. My favorite track on that Isley Brothers album is Climbin’ The Ladder. My rarest thrift purchase is Dorothy Ashby’s Afro Harping. It was going for roughly $200 when I found one for .99 cents. It was in VG+ condition. You found some nice things especially that Beatles album.
Many thanks Kenny, cant beat the price of those pick ups..🤘 and great selections. I had to see what you considered the rarest, so glad to see a deal can still be found for those willing to dig
Rarest record I have is a 45 from 1972 made at a $1.00 instant record booth that recorded John Lennon and Harry Nilsson. In the original paper jacket. Only one of its kind in the world. Bought it for $2 at a garage sale in Long Island.
I watched the video and these LP records at $1.99 are a real bargain! I specially like those soundtrack albums, "Star Wars" is my favourite! I wish i am there to buy some of those records! Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Hawaii-Five-O and some of the Jazz records which i like. Thank you for the video! 😊
My Mom worked for Fleetwood records in the 70's Revere, Ma. Packing up records for shipment and I sometimes helped. I became interested in collecting them around 1978. The rarest one I saw was at a flea market and it was Pink Floyd Ummagumma with the front cover having the band in the bottom and not the Gigi or a white cover. This had the band with the cover of Ummagumma LP on front! I did not have the $10 which was (a lot back then) the guy wanted for the record. At the time, I did not know it was a cover not known to even have been printed. At least one is real and I let it slide through my hands!
Kenny, I had heard the Isley Brothers over the years but was mainly familiar with the earlier, "Twist era" stuff. Well I guess I was familiar with many of their later hooks via 90s rap sampling too, but WOW, that album you showed off there blew my socks off. I've since delved into more of their 70s catalog and I can't get enough. Thank you for introducing me to my "new" favorite band!
They were really great in the 70s. I'm glad that my video had a positive impact on listening to the Isely Brothers music. Thank you very much for watching my video 😊 ✌️

over 100000 printed many still out there - most pasted over - go to a record convention and see how many there are - found 2 thrift shop and garage sale ( both unpeeled ) - another so badly peeled i passed on it - they are becoming more rare unpeeled
My best thrift store find (UK) was the first two Jimmy Hendrix singles, which were 10p (15c) each, bought in the 1990's. You have some great records there, and very good taste in music. :) My rarest album - The best of Derrick Morgan (Ska) My rarest EP - Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival (withdrawn) My rarest single - Bob Marley Waiting in Vain (radio promo, handwritten labels with 'Greetings' spoken intro, side A has 30 seconds of WiV, adn the B side has the whole song) My other rarest single - Rub and Squeeze by King Perry and the Soulettes on original press Jamaican Studio One (with ST1/ST 2 numbers), written on by Lee Perry himself.
Wow. What a great Butcher cover. I would be inthe hospital after that encounter!!! That Louis "Hello Dolly " on Kapp is a great LP and very populat at the time. My parents owned it ,as did my aunts and uncles. Brings back great memories from being a kid with Hot Wheels. Great vid man.

Hello Kenny from France, where it is more difficult to make good business and find such opportinities. One of the rarest record i was searching for more than 20 years is the 1rst Good rats on Kapp records. I found it after having move from my birthtown Paris to a south and western town called Poitiers. A very nice record dealer sold off one copy of it, cover with ring, but a 1rst press US original in raher good condition, at a very low price. I could not believe my eyes and then my ears. Fun fact : about some ten years later, I found the same one, orginal french pressing, even rarest ! Thanx for sharing passion and experience. Have a nice week. Stéphane 🕶 🕶 🕶 🖐
Great video Kenny. Wow, you got some great records for $1,99 !! True story, I swear. 14 years ago I was at a 2nd hand store and picked up a 2nd state stereo butcher album for $1. I didn;t even realize it to the next day when i realized I could see Ringo's turtleneck underneath. Being a Beatle freak, believe me, this is not for sale. Also, i would never attempt to steam the 2nd cover off, or I would "Butcher" it. Keep up the interesting videos.j
That Louis Armstrong Town Hall Concert Plus album looks like an original US Mono edition from 1957, which is very nice to have. I first bought that album around 1970 in the UK version which had been pressed by Decca in England. It is a great selection of Louis's work from the late 1940s and includes several tunes with Duke Ellington and his men. The rarest record which I have ever seen is a Charley Patton Paramount 78 which was not in good condition, but a friend of mine had nailed it to his wall as an ornament. I've seen such Paramount 78s going for over $20,000.
I have both of the Star Wars soundtracks and obviously they’re some of the best scores of all time !!! And I also have a Lionel Hampton album but it’s a different album to the one you got !!!! Some great finds at good prices there !! Keep up the good work !!!
Kenny, that was some haul! What a marvelous selection, topped off by a “Butcher” cover! It’s amazing to think back when these albums were new (all in my lifetime). There was a time when the world hadn’t yet known “You are the Sunshine of my life”…it was just a fresh track on that LP (and a single) that hadn’t been heard a million times. Wow!
I found a record at a rare goodwill in Anaheim Ca. Called "The Happy Sound" and it had a amazing oldie "Think twice" it's valued at 250 to 300 dollars its Layola records label ,I paid $4 😊
you found some awesome stuff and it always makes me wonder about Who owned them before and why they ended up in the store. Another note congrats on the Butcher Cover. that probably was someone's pride and joy.. now its yours .. I am jealous.. great scores
I often think the same about the origin of the thrift store albums I find and the reason the last owners gave them up...especially something of high value.
Kenny do you watch Rachel's Ghost show every morning at 6 am? I think you found a gold mine of a thrift store, I sit in my buddies record store and only wish I'd find a copy of the Beatles albumin that.. insane my friend
Hello Kenny, that sure is a lucky find, one of the rarest Beatles albums. A print out of The Butcher cover is pasted on the wall of my music room, for the past 20 years and I still haven't seen the original yet. That's one of the grails on my list. That entire LP stash from the thrift store is fantastic. Wishing you more such gems. Cheers from India. I wish we had thrift stores with such stash and pricing back here. 😂
The rarest album I ever bought was Santana's Lotus album 40+ years ago. Back then it was only available as a Japanese import. It didn't get released on an American label until later. I paid a premium price for it.
I have a Beatles “Yesterday and Today” that’s a Butcher Cover but I haven’t and won’t steam it off. I know what’s underneath. I bought it new in 1966 and it’s still is! 👍
The best, most valuable record I’ve found at the thrift shop…1963 The Supremes, meet The Supremes Last one I saw on Discogs, sold for $750 But I’ll never sell it !
Definitely a Pulp Fiction gold gleam case opening moment - actually, all of them for me - esp' @ $2, the markets gone bananas esp here in NZ and AU for material of those titles - love the video, peace and blessings.
I found Rene John - Road To My Cathedral in a Goodwill in Flint, MI for $.50 Far rarer than a butcher cover, but less well known with fewer people seeking it, it still goes as high as $1000 when in top condition. My copy had a missing a label and stains on the cover but still sold for $365 back in 2013. It was a demo record. 100 copies were made. An Acid Archives review said five known copies existed. I apparently found number six!
Dude nooo way, I was not expecting that one man. Congrats on that find! The rares find is 4 copys of Orange Wedge Orange Wedge - People / Dream from Baltimore. I live in Baltimore County and my dad got them in a yard sale, thinking they may have known someone from the band to have 4 copys of it
When I very first started collecting vinyl in 1989, I saw a VG- condition, 2nd state, peeled Beatles Butcher record in "the glass case" at my local used record store. I remember clearly thinking, "Wow, $80 for one record; that's like a week's worth of pizza and beer for THIS college student." In hindsight, I really wish I would have chosen to starve myself for a few days. That collectable is so sweet; nice find!!
I have a first edition Samual Clemmons, Adventures of Tom Sawyer that I payed $3.00 for at a Savers a while back. I used to SCORE with jewelry but they got some fancy equipment and they price gem stones way differently. I have a book and record collection that looks like I spent enough to buy a couple of houses for next to nothing.
@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Okay, you seem so familar, and I used to occasionally go to a record store on Hollywood Blvd near Vine years ago and you remind me of the owner. Anyway, nice to meet you, I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely fantastic finds, Kenny! I thought I showed some good finds over the weekend, but these are amazing. Great Stones finds 👌Tamborine Man, those Stevie Wonder and that fabulous Joni Blue… amazing. And Butcher cover!!!! The vinyl gods were shining down on you. Liked and subbed. Cheers, Jack
Hi kenny some great finds there, the rarest album I came across was by a folk rock psych duo called fresh maggots, it was among a pile of crappy records that I had looked through weeks before on a local flea market, and after reading the British record collector magazine and seeing it mentioned in there the memory came back about it so I was surprised to see it was still there, if cost me about £1.00, it's selling for over grand now, but it's not what it's worth it's what someone will pay for it.
Nice finds! Wish they would just train their staff to charge 1.99 versus putting stickers on potential collectors items. Got lucky last week got Sony classical and Decca Sounds music cd boxsets for 4 dollars each. Two are worth close to 700 bucks between the both of them.
Excelente e boa informações sobre os discos de vinil, pois sou um afeiçoado dos mesmos, pois possuo mais de 15.000 (quinze mil discos em casa), escuto-os diariamente, etc.maneco - Porto Alegre-RS - Brasil.
Recently found Herbie Hancock's Thrust and Dusty In Memphis WLP in VG ++ at my local thrift for $1. I've had similar finds a few years ago but its getting harder and harder to dig these kind of finds since the vinyl renaissance.
Hello sir!..You are a man after my own heart. Just stumbled upon your channel and was tickled pink over the fact that somebody else collects real albums. I don't have nearly as many as you. I also have a few watches as well. I found that amusing too. Are you sure we're not related? Lol.
The rarest record I ever saw in person was an original 1938 Robert Johnson 78 on the Vocalion label of 'Terraplane Blues' - it was at a record swap meet at Pasadena College in 1997. I actually got to hold this record which was on hold until a scout from Keith Rochards came and looked at it. Richards was in L.A. at a studio. The disc itself was pristine except for a rim chip on one side not affecting play as the chip was not into the 1st grooves. When I got home that night, I got a call from my friend who knew the seller who had called to inform him that Richards bought the Johnson disc for $4650. He already had that record, but it was in such bad shape it was barely playable. Rochards reportedly had every known commercially released record Robert Johnson made except for two or three which are known to be nearly impossible to find in any condition. I have heard that Richards has since located the remainder of the Johnson recordings needed to complete his collection and has every known release including reissues and alternate label issues. Another very rare record I saw in a privately owned collection was the 1933 Jimmie Rodgers 78 rpm picture disc of 'Cowhands Last Ride' b/w 'Blue Yodel No. 12' on the RCA Victor label.
If you find Blue Note recording of their Anniversary at Main Hall, the musicians and songs are outstanding. The interim breaks by Slam Stuart and Don Byas are listening experience..
Wow...nice haul. And loving the watch you're sporting and the one on your side! Vinyl and watches.....great combo, Kenny! What is that cool watch on your wrist? Looks nice. And for $1.99, its just treasure hunting fun!
My dad managed to find the rarest record I’ve ever seen twice, eight years apart, for around a dollar. He sold them for $2000 each. It had been made on a private label by a local folk group. Only 50 copies were pressed and given out to friends and family back in 1971.

I found a record at a rare goodwill in Anaheim Ca. Called "The Happy Sound" and it had a amazing oldie "Think twice" it's valued at 250 to 300 dollars its Layola records label ,I paid $4 😊
GREAT find 👏 👍 👌 🎶
you found some awesome stuff and it always makes me wonder about Who owned them before and why they ended up in the store.
OMG crazy finds, Happy Hunting.
Happy hunting to you too 😁
Hello Kenny, that sure is a lucky find, one of the rarest Beatles albums.
Dude! You scored big!! I go to thrift stores all the time and would be tickled pink to find one of those. Enjoy.
I appreciate that 😊, thank you very much for watching ✌️
All I can say is WOW !
😊😁...thank you 😊 ✌️
Nice haul man. Confrats!
Thank you 😊
I have a Beatles “Yesterday and Today” that’s a Butcher Cover but I haven’t and won’t steam it off. I know what’s underneath. I bought it new in 1966 and it’s still is! 👍
Beatles record looks like a release that had the cover overlay that they peeled of hence the condition
Agree
I also agree.
Great stuff, love the albums,
Thank you 😊 ✌️
I used to live near amoeba records I would go record hunting every weekend love finding gems ,best song on the Tull album is teacher
Nice turn man.
Great finds! Just found your UA-cam, nice collection.
Thank you, much appreciated 🙏 ✌️
The best, most valuable record I’ve found at the thrift shop…1963 The Supremes, meet The Supremes
Last one I saw on Discogs, sold for $750
But I’ll never sell it !
Awsome find 😊 👏
The cover of the Beatles record was changed and you have the rarer copy, a great find,
Thank you for the information 😊
Definitely a Pulp Fiction gold gleam case opening moment - actually, all of them for me - esp' @ $2, the markets gone bananas esp here in NZ and AU for material of those titles - love the video, peace and blessings.
I appreciate you, and thank you very much for watching my video ✌️
I found Rene John - Road To My Cathedral in a Goodwill in Flint, MI for $.50
Far rarer than a butcher cover, but less well known with fewer people seeking it, it still goes as high as $1000 when in top condition.
I live in Baltimore County and my dad got them in a yard sale, thinking they may have known someone from the band to have 4 copys of it
Thank you, I appreciate that...thank you very much for sharing your four gems 😊 ✌️
Crazy good find for a Butcher.
😊😁🎶 ....I still don't believe it 😊
I need to get that Harvest for the World for sure
Great album and song 🎵 👌 👏
When I very first started collecting vinyl in 1989, I saw a VG- condition, 2nd state, peeled Beatles Butcher record in "the glass case" at my local used record store. I remember clearly thinking, "Wow, $80 for one record; that's like a week's worth of pizza and beer for THIS college student."
In hindsight, I really wish I would have chosen to starve myself for a few days. That collectable is so sweet; nice find!!
😊😁...thank you very much for sharing that cool story 😊...in retrospect, $80 would have been a bargain.
Hey! Wow some thrift shop!... If only here... ! Love from Ireland bud❤
Thank you very much for watching from Ireland 😊✌️
I have a first edition Samual Clemmons, Adventures of Tom Sawyer that I payed $3.00 for at a Savers a while back. I used to SCORE with jewelry but they got some fancy equipment and they price gem stones way differently. I have a book and record collection that looks like I spent enough to buy a couple of houses for next to nothing.
WOW!!! Sweet, Sweet Haul Kenny! Stones, Isleys, and The BUTCHER! and "Major Matt Mason" shoutout, as well! (and long live Sergeant Storm!) 🎉🎉🎉❤
I appreciate that 😊😁....thank you very much 😁✌️
@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews By the way, you didn't used to have a record store in Hollywood, CA. did you?
😊😁...no 😊
@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Okay, you seem so familar, and I used to occasionally go to a record store on Hollywood Blvd near Vine years ago and you remind me of the owner. Anyway, nice to meet you, I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for watching my videos 😊
Keep up the great work Kenny. All the best from friends in Australia.
Thank you and thanks for watching from Australia 😊
I have seen the one off copy in blue vinyl of the Beatles White Album. It is on display at the Beatles museum in Liverpool.
amazing finds
It was a great day for me 😊..thank you very much for watching my video ✌️
Absolutely fantastic finds, Kenny! I thought I showed some good finds over the weekend, but these are amazing. Great Stones finds 👌Tamborine Man, those Stevie Wonder and that fabulous Joni Blue… amazing. And Butcher cover!!!! The vinyl gods were shining down on you. Liked and subbed. Cheers, Jack
Thank you very much for viewing my video and subscribing, I appreciate your comments 😊 ✌️
Thank you very much for sharing that. You are correct, it's what's someone is willing to pay.
The Beatles one probably had the sticker on it that's why it's now like that. So it's a very first pressing. Shame you didn't show the record.
Nice finds! Wish they would just train their staff to charge 1.99 versus putting stickers on potential collectors items. Got lucky last week got Sony classical and Decca Sounds music cd boxsets for 4 dollars each. Two are worth close to 700 bucks between the both of them.
I agree with you on the price stickers. Congratulations on your great finds 👏 👍
Now I gotta start going to the thrift stories here in Birmingham. And we have a thump of them.
I hope the thrift store hunting goes well 😊
Excelente e boa informações sobre os discos de vinil, pois sou um afeiçoado dos mesmos, pois possuo mais de 15.000 (quinze mil discos em casa), escuto-os diariamente, etc.maneco - Porto Alegre-RS - Brasil.
Thank you very much for watching my video from Brasil 😊✌️
Recently found Herbie Hancock's Thrust and Dusty In Memphis WLP in VG ++ at my local thrift for $1. I've had similar finds a few years ago but its getting harder and harder to dig these kind of finds since the vinyl renaissance.
Hello sir!..You are a man after my own heart. Just stumbled upon your channel and was tickled pink over the fact that somebody else collects real albums. I don't have nearly as many as you. I also have a few watches as well. I found that amusing too. Are you sure we're not related? Lol.
Great finds Kenny!
Thank you and thanks for watching ✌️
Yes sir that is the holy grail of LP s
It was a great day 😊🎶
Else is almost a Miles record. Same time Cannonball was in miles Kind of blue band. Just fantastic.
Wow! I have that Beatles album but paid a lot more than $1,99. Great find!
Thank you 😊
Wow...nice haul. And loving the watch you're sporting and the one on your side! Vinyl and watches.....great combo, Kenny! What is that cool watch on your wrist? Looks nice. And for $1.99, its just treasure hunting fun!
Thank you very much 😊 😁 ✌️
I knew from what you said that it would be the Beatles album. Extremely rare.
My dad managed to find the rarest record I’ve ever seen twice, eight years apart, for around a dollar. He sold them for $2000 each. It had been made on a private label by a local folk group. Only 50 copies were pressed and given out to friends and family back in 1971.
Great finds!!! Wait... Goodwill still has $1.99 records? Everytime I go there, They're always $3.99... at least here in Houston.
Your, Deodato - Prelude records is easy to spot ;)
That Beatles Butcher cover looks like one where the original own peeled off the sticker covering the original cover.
I love this channel!
