    Ben you're a star. Thanks a million for your instructive tutorial. I was able to create a reasonable profile for the 7Artisans 18/6.3 UFO II within just half an hour. I kept it very simple, I just pinned the DIN A4 home printed chart with the largestr squares (A4, 5x9, 72 points) on my garage door and took the 9 sample images. Maybe it's not perfect, but for the moment it is good enough, and the UFO is a fun lens anyway. I've already contributed a number of Lensfun xml profiles, and now, thanks to your tutorial can do the same also for Lightroom. I mean, theoretically, it should be possible to convert an existing Lensfun xml profile to Adobe lcp but I've not found a converter yet. Pls let me know should someone know such a converter. (There is a converter to transform lcp into xml but I had no success with it.) Cheers - Martin.

      Glad to hear it helped! I haven't seen any sort of converter but good luck in the search

    I just tried doing it for a new lens that has some pretty bad barrel distortion and it's giving me that stupid error message for all of my images. My pictures look no different than your example so not sure what's going on. Any suggestions?

    So.. I have some old profiles I made for the Nikon 28-80 3.3-5.6 G. They worked well before but. Now it’s been a few years, I installed light room again and connected my old catalogue. Reinstall these profiles manually? Ouch not winning yet! Lightroom4 is terrible for backing up your settings >_> I cannot make these install. Perhaps you need the other program? Seems a bit silly.

    Is there a way to do this "without a camera" too though? For example, I can fairly trivially take any shot from my fixed camera and "straighten it out" (with non-linear deformation) in Photoshop, but then how do I turn that deformation into a lens profile that I can directly apply in LR instead? Because with thousands of shots (stop-motion in this case) using Photoshop is not an option =D

      Good question, my best bet would be to try to make a lightroom preset using the lens distortion tab... Maybe in Photoshop copy one of your lens corrections and paste it into a new Ps file of a grid, export that, and then open it in lightroom. Then open that same grid without the edits in lightroom, and try to match the edit as close as possible, then save that into a LR preset

    Something that isn’t clear on the video or Adobe documentation - am I supposed to be keeping the tripod static but just move the ball head? Or Keep the ball the same and just move the tripod? When I try to do the corner images, my camera is most definitely not close to level when just using the ball head.

      It's been so long since I made this video, but I'm 95% sure I never moved the tripod

    How do you do corrections for Zoom lenses ?
    And Cant you just Draw it your self , i mean how will software know if you draw it or print it . Because i dont know how expensive this is , but getting a big white paper , and cut out black squares is cheap .

    Do you have to print the checker board pattern, couldn't you just display it full screen on a large monitor and photograph that?

    • @BenRaddatz
      @BenRaddatz  Рік тому

      I think In theory that should work as long as the measurements required line up (it's been a while since I did this process so I don't remember entirely)

      However, the brightness from the screen may not provide the camera with proper exposure information for it to be able to fix vignette issues... Feel free to test it out, but I'm not positive if it'll work properly

    Nice tutorial! Will I be able to use the created lens profiles with JPEG/TIFF files?

    • @BenRaddatz
      @BenRaddatz  2 роки тому

      I would imagine so, since I think all it's doing is applying a lens un-distortion and un-vignetting (along with maybe some colour editing for chromatic aberration) so I'd imagine it works on most, if not all types of images!

    Very useful and informative video. I reached a memory limit while trying to create a lens profile for the Mini 3 Pro 48MPx mode. Have you found a way around the memory limitations?

    • @BenRaddatz
      @BenRaddatz  2 роки тому

      Do you actually need to be shooting in 48mp? I'd assume you'd get the same lens performance if you used the 12mp mode

    Dear Ben,
    this video is very useful as I would like to create my own profiles for long-discontinued manual lenses.
    However, using the link you provided for downloading the Adobe Lens Profile Creator and clicking the link for Windows download, I receive an error message stating that 'This site can’t be reached. The connection was reset.' I checked the connection, the proxy and the firewall, and run the Windows Network Diagnostics, all to no avail as I still could not what the problem is.
    Did Adobe remove the download page altogether from the time you posted the video 40 days ago? If so, is any repository site where I can download the Lens Profile Creator for Windows?
    Thank you for your attention and any assistance
    Marco

      Hi Marco, This has been brought to my attention already and I've been looking around online to try to see if it's available elsewhere; I'll provide a solution linked under this video when I find one. I still don't know how I was able to download it earlier

    I am wondering why to not take photos right from monitor screeen

    • @BenRaddatz
      @BenRaddatz  7 місяців тому

      In theory that should work... But because this software also looks at the lighting to compensate for vignetting, the monitor backlight may cause issues, but it's worth a shot to try it out!

    How do I download from your discord? I have an account but not sure how to find the software there.

      After reacting to the rules, you'll be able to see the general channel. If you check the pinned messages in that channel, I have the download link there!

    I would like to create or FIND profiles for some of my lenses but the links you provided no longer work and only produce a "page not found' result. I guess I'll call Adobe and shake their tree. :)
