@@fuosdi64 In my experience, most are. Charlotte, Portland, Phoenix, Dallas all ghost towns during the day with only vehicles and drugged outside zombies walking the streets. Which cities aren’t like this?

Also, to be fair, it sounds like this video was taken in the summer, so no students walking around, VCU and RVA are basically one and the same so the summers definitely suffer in terms of people

The reason most downtowns in this country are dead is because most Americans love their cars and their suburban lifestyles above all else. It's as simple as that.
I'm old enough to remember the days when downtown Richmond was crowded with people going to the theater, shopping at big department stores, dining out at fine restaurants, and attending special events at big hotels. Today nearly all of that has relocated to the surrounding counties. A sad fact for those of us who love Richmond and remember her once exciting and vibrant downtown.
