After using my lovely gh5 as my main camera for more than 3 years now i finally decided to try the panasonic s5 and i can say i'm not disappointed, still working out the colour grade but i'm happy with results so far.
shot in V-log, 4k, 60fps
Gear:
Panasonic Lumix s5
Sigma 18-35 1.8 art
Sigma MC-21 ef to L mount
Roning S
Atomos shinobi
Hoya variable ND filter
Lovely work, looks very surreal, cropped obviously, looks great!
I went Anamorphic last month with my S5.
Surprised you have so few subscribers, keep up the good work 🍷
Thank you for the compliment, I’m pretty sure at some point I will try anamorphic, and I can’t wait for it 👍
Amazing!! Very good job! Love the colour grading
Just ordered my S5! Can't wait for it to arrive!
I’m happy for you, you can do some amazing things with this camera, have fun when you get it.
Nice!
Thanks 🙏
The grade is lovely, and love the feel of it. However there is a lot of noise in the image. Is that because of the APS-C crop?
This was a test shoot that I did before brings my clients there, unfortunately we were very late and it was way darker than it looks, so I decided to put the iso to the test and got this, I have a new video coming with my clients, on the new video we got there at right time and I was able to get much cleaner images
@@thatvideoguy4k Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation :)
@@thatvideoguy4k What ISO were you using there?
The location is surreal, good job, great choice, where did you film this?
Thank you bro, this was filmed at Numbung national park in WA, Australia
I was wondering exactly the same thing… thanks for asking :-)
We're you using AF at 1:06? If so what settings do you use to keep it from losing focus when you pass the foreground element?
Hey there, I shoot all my video in manual focus a lot more creative control 👍
Does manual focus work on the ronin s with usb cable to the s5? I have the ronin s too, but it seems like most people say it's not supported. Cheers
I have never tried, I pull focus on the lens itself before start recording and try my best to keep the distance, i use an external monitor and focus peaking, definitely helps a lot
@@thatvideoguy4k which external monitor do you use?
@@vanessamarino3798 I’m using the atomos shinobi

Do you use the lumix s5 for photography in RaW?
Every time I take q photo en Raw it looks good on camera but when i export to laptop they are all unexposed.. i know now is because of the Raw but I haven’t find a way to make it normal
@@8SinestesiA8 I wouldn’t be able to help you with that I never taken a picture with my s5 🤦♂️
how did you use sigma 18-35 in lumix s5 ! i have mc21 but vignetting is coming from side. black border
Hey, thats weird i have no vignetting on mine, i will have a look about it, and see if i find anything that can help you, you probably have tried it already but maybe your equipment is not fully updated, if not you could give it a go, good luck
@@thatvideoguy4k yes.. this lens need to be updated sigma !
You need to set the camera to automatically go to crop mode (apsx) when you attach a apsc lens! His camera probably does it automatically!
@@Pesphoto i checked .. the lens firmware needs to be updated.
Did which mount hast the sigma and which adapter you used please?
did you have issues with the autofocus ?
I have never used auto focus with any of my Panasonic cameras, I mostly shoot weddings and I can’t afford to miss an important moment so pushed myself to get used to manual focusing, it’s not perfect but I can be more creative because of it 😊
What adapter is needed for this lense?
Hey there, I used the sigma mc-21 for this shoot 👍
apsc mode ?
Yes, that’s correct
@@thatvideoguy4k with apsc-mode, do you lose resolution? Because it doesn’t look like it!!!
@@jaysnappsmediallc6680 I didn't notice any loss in resolution but you would miss on recording in 10 bit 4-2-2 as when shooting in apsc-mode you can only get 10 bit 4-2-0, but in the end it would only be relevant if you heavy grade. this video was 10bit 4-2-2 ➡ua-cam.com/video/5_tjHbIhvV4/v-deo.html
it was a bit easer to grade
seems to noisy. any idea why?

@@thatvideoguy4k oh what ISO were you pushning?
Low Light has always been an issue with Panasonic cameras
@@honorrollTM
Not on my S5 or the approved Netflix S1H
@@honorrollTM Oh boy, thats so far from the truth. It was an issue with their m4/3 cameras, due to the unchangeable fact they're a smaller sensor. The S series of cameras are FF and compete alongside Sony with lowlight performance. In fact the S5 used in the video actually has dual native ISO so it's low light performance is exceptional.
