The problem is that, even if Sendo or Kamogawa were to die, would that be a valid reason for Ippo to just come back? The only reason why he failed to win against the likes of Alfredo and Guevara was that he wanted to live up to someone else's expectations (that being Kamogawa) and only focused on showing how his way of boxing could conquer the world, thus leading to his demise and eventual retirement, so him coming back to the boxing world just because someone else he (had) known died or perhaps lost a title match and wanting to fight for the sake of them instead of HIMSELF would just repeat history, Ippo HAS to come back because he WANTS to, not for revenge but something that's more meaningful to him.

Guys chill out, the autor knows what he is doing, that thing will punch drunk, is a very smart way, to make ippo polish hus weakness and get strong slowly but surely, while also give the autor times to focus on the other characters growth, and us readers livings others characters growth from ippo’s perspective like they are the MC of the story without doing a switch, once the others caracthers stories is done we will focus again on ippo for the last sprint to the end. I think the end of the story has been already decided a this point
I think Ippo being a second for Takamura's heavyweight title bout makes the most sense, maybe Kamogawa wouldn't even need to die before Taka's last weight class, maybe he could be in the crowd or something cause he woulnd't be healthy enough to help in the ring, and potentially could see his 2 best sons working together in the ring for one last time
Not to mentione he's taken far more damage to the head between his street fights and official fights with no issue. Meanwhile Ippo is possibly punch-drunk even after leaving the ring. Sendou's reckless style will catch up with him.

Pride in his coach and his Gym will be the factor that gets him to come out of retirement. At some point, he will realize that he has a shot at winning vs Ricardo and his pride will be challenged. I've always thought that Imai will be the one talking shit when Kamogawa dies, Takamura will probably retire. The Gym won't have any star boxers anymore and I bet that Imai will be the one to trigger it all with his words. Actually Sendo has already "died" before, it was not a dead but well u already know, he is inspired on Joe Yabuki but in the first fight he got with Ippo he did lost i his corner, sitting, so that confirma that he is not going to die (i Hope so) but Kamogawa is the one that is maybe going to die, and that Will be something really Hard bc u know, he was there almost since the beggining, he helped ippo and did a good job on second, until Ippo started fighting other Champs from other countrys, i guess, bc in most of his fight after that, ippo was on the same pattern (starts the fight and Ippo does good, mid fight gets his ass beated so Hard and in the final round he recovers as hell and win, but Hope Kamogawa doesnt die, but maybe he needs to, he looks so sick rn.
I've been thinking of Morikawa's pacing with Kamogawa's health decline storyline and Takamura's title race. I am wondering if Kamogawa even makes it to Takamura's next title fight. Ippo was offered the chance to coach at the gym beginning with Kamogawa newly being unable to attend as a 2nd for the first time for Aokimura fights. The symptoms and comments by Dankichi & Nekota hint late stage lung cancer, which has a short mortality in the elderly. Then there are chapters like 'sibling boxers' where Ippo and Takamura are training together while the coach is in his office, and the chapter before where Takamura recruits Ippo to help the gym get to the Tokyo dome without pressure to return as a boxer. I also think Ippo's boxing return will likely never happen, especially if Kamogawa passes. Morikawa has been fanning the question of how/if Ippo returns for the fans and the distant characters in the story, but Ippo's own narration to every insider (Kamogawa, Takamura, Mashiba, Kobashi, his mom, etc) suggests he's just going down the route of being a 2nd.
Thanks for sharing this, I'm bored of hearing theories about either Sendo, Miyata or Sawamura diying so Ippo gets back as a revenge, it doesn't make any sense for Ippo as a character. I would love for him to come back to the ring in a similar fashion to Date (but winning lmao) but IMO that doesn't make much sense either. I also thought of Kamogawa's death pushing Ippo to the ring as a "I owe this man the belt" or something like that, but the idea of Ippo being Takamura's second after Kamogawa's death makes so much more sense to Ippo as a character. Actually, one of Ippo main reasons, besides his health, which is kind of a excuse for this one, is his mother. I don't remember, but Ippo mons never show up to one of his fight. Even Kumi show up multiple times. Also, his mother is a Safe Zone. It's his return point. Risk your life for greatness doesn't mean nothing if you most beloved one is gonna be left to suffer the lost as you said about Sendo. So, that's it. Everyone lost their parents, but no Ippo.
I think when he's back, she will start watching for sure. She said she'd watch him if he didn't get hit. That's a foreshadowing. I think his comeback fight will be flawless. A perfect win.

Nah, Sendo will probably win against Ricardo and Miyata will challange him and probably win. Ippo vs Miyata will happen at some point, that would be the perfect opportunity. I don't see this manga going as deep as offing some1 on screen tbh. Ippo can be motivated to come back just because Sendo lost to Miyata. It's literally the best opportunity for them to fight , the world title , the ultimate goal, THAT would be amazing.
SORRY FOR THE LONG PARAGRAPH!! I believe that Komagawa will pass away Micky style, but immediately after Takamura wins the Cruiserweight strap.! Then it'll be revealed that Takamura took too much damage in the fight and is blind in one eye from a detached retina(which many fans are already suspecting) forcing him to retire JUST BEFORE he jumps to Heavyweight. The mental pain of not fulfilling the promise he made to Komagawa then motivates him to coach and corner Ippo for his world title fight so that he can TECHNICALLY bring belts from 6 divisions to the gym. It'd also be poetic as Komagawa always wanted to prove his coaching could create a world champion and he saw Ippo as the product of his coaching and not Takamura cause Takamura would've won the world strap regardless of who his coach was.
Maybe this is a bit far fetched but I think Mashiba winning the world title is going to inspire Ippo to make a comeback. Mashiba wants a man stronger than himself to be with his sister and I can see that being a major plot point. Maybe seeing her brother win the title will make Kumi less against Ippo boxing again.
It's 100% Kamagowa, it's beens teased so hard but I have such copium. But man I love the idea of ippo being Takamura's second and perhaps that helps him with ricardo or vice versa or both!

Ippo has always been inspired by Mike Tyson, so Kamogawa will die before Ippo won the championship, Takamura will be devastated but Ippo will win the championship and give back Takamura inspiration, even respect for Ippo. At the end, Ippo is the inspiration , the step people want to make to attain their goals. by being amazed by his toughness/kindness and they want to beat someone honorable.
If it's Sendo, he's literally the sacrifice lol. Not just to the dempsey roll but also to Ippo's comeback. However, this will also be the same pattern on Kamogawa fighting Anderson after Nekota's defeat. If it's not Sendo then I don't think it will be Kamogawa. I'm more leaning to Takamura. I don't know why but I really think that Takamura will be defeated, and that will be one of the reason Ippo comes back.

Thanks for sharing this, I'm bored of hearing theories about either Sendo, Miyata or Sawamura diying so Ippo gets back as a revenge, it doesn't make any sense for Ippo as a character.
I would love for him to come back to the ring in a similar fashion to Date (but winning lmao) but IMO that doesn't make much sense either.
I also thought of Kamogawa's death pushing Ippo to the ring as a "I owe this man the belt" or something like that, but the idea of Ippo being Takamura's second after Kamogawa's death makes so much more sense to Ippo as a character.
I would love for Ippo to come back to the ring, but he becoming a second and a trainer is so much more fitting from both character and writing standpoint.

Actually, one of Ippo main reasons, besides his health, which is kind of a excuse for this one, is his mother.
I don't remember, but Ippo mons never show up to one of his fight. Even Kumi show up multiple times.
Also, his mother is a Safe Zone. It's his return point. Risk your life for greatness doesn't mean nothing if you most beloved one is gonna be left to suffer the lost as you said about Sendo.
So, that's it. Everyone lost their parents, but no Ippo.
I think when he's back, she will start watching for sure. She said she'd watch him if he didn't get hit. That's a foreshadowing. I think his comeback fight will be flawless. A perfect win.

Nah, Sendo will probably win against Ricardo and Miyata will challange him and probably win. Ippo vs Miyata will happen at some point, that would be the perfect opportunity. I don't see this manga going as deep as offing some1 on screen tbh. Ippo can be motivated to come back just because Sendo lost to Miyata. It's literally the best opportunity for them to fight , the world title , the ultimate goal, THAT would be amazing.

Then it'll be revealed that Takamura took too much damage in the fight and is blind in one eye from a detached retina(which many fans are already suspecting) forcing him to retire JUST BEFORE he jumps to Heavyweight.
The mental pain of not fulfilling the promise he made to Komagawa then motivates him to coach and corner Ippo for his world title fight so that he can TECHNICALLY bring belts from 6 divisions to the gym. It'd also be poetic as Komagawa always wanted to prove his coaching could create a world champion and he saw Ippo as the product of his coaching and not Takamura cause Takamura would've won the world strap regardless of who his coach was.

Maybe this is a bit far fetched but I think Mashiba winning the world title is going to inspire Ippo to make a comeback. Mashiba wants a man stronger than himself to be with his sister and I can see that being a major plot point. Maybe seeing her brother win the title will make Kumi less against Ippo boxing again.
Yeah Mashiba and his sister play a big part in his comeback for sure. He was wondering why Ippo was still training like an active boxer too.

I think Kamogawa will die like Cus d'Amato. Ippo has always been inspired by Mike Tyson, so Kamogawa will die before Ippo won the championship, Takamura will be devastated but Ippo will win the championship and give back Takamura inspiration, even respect for Ippo. I will be strong because he have overworked, overpain everyone without being a genius. At the end, Ippo is the inspiration , the step people want to make to attain their goals. by being amazed by his toughness/kindness and they want to beat someone honorable.

The thing about Ippo vs. Sendo 3 is that Sendo can't possibly lose to the same guy three times. But Ippo won't lose after his comeback either. It's a tough situation. There's a draw somewhere hidden here. And it's either Sendo vs Ricardo or Sendo vs Ippo.

I think I feel where the autor is going, i believe ippo return will be when he understands Takamura motivation and the bond between him and the coach, then understand nekota message that Ippo is the true spiritual child of the coach, and understand coach dream, maybe ippo need to know something major about his father too, from last chapter Kumi start to feel pride for her brother which a big indicator that kumi changes her mindset is something very important, Ippo will never return without Kumi accepting it.
I belive ippo return combat will be against Miyata he will when and then get fast ticket from it to challenge ricardo, I think ippo will destroy recardo achieving coach dream. Then we will see a fast forward time where coach already RIP Ippo dominated already a lot of weight classes and is about to dominate the pineacle of the sport against Miyata in the ultimate show down ( achieving Takamura dream now) and the end of that ultimate fight will left open to the readers, as the complex open question : the hardest Rock vs The hardest Lance question
