    This video rules! I curb-scores a KitchenAid mixer and after some poking around found the windings in the field were fried. This video was so amazing to walk me through how to fix it! Ordered my replacement parts and it’s working again!!

    Good helpful video. Was expecting to have to remove and service my motor, but I got lucky -- the stall was caused by freezing up of the accessory drive gear at the front of the unit (no doubt caused by dribbles of liquid from grinder getting into the front). There isn't a proper bearing for that accessory drive, so it's not surprising that it got sticky. A simple cleaning and a smear of grease on it got my unit back in business.

    • @ensignbeedrill
      @ensignbeedrill 8 місяців тому

      @@appliancepartspros Thanks. It's a K5SS, but I think I found the problem. I found the switch that completes the circuit and discovered that it was always engaged because the plastic bit on the end of the speed bar was not pressing on it. The plate that the switch was attached to looked a little bent, so I bent it back into shape and now the bar puts enough pressure on it to disengage the switch. Good to go!

    Starting out my kitchen aid was wavering and low power on the higher settings.
    Model no KSM5.
    Ordered the two parts in link and tried to install
    The field assembly will not fit inside my Kitchen Aid housing/body (site says this should fit my model.)
    Armature fit fine; when I proceeded with just the armature replacement and rebuilt machine/ but now I have a dead kitchen aid…
    Since have reinstalled original armature to at least gain back where I started; but still dead mixer…
    Where did I miswire something/break something else?
    Brushes are in correct position and black and white wires connect to brushes on opposite sides of brushes.

    • @somarpr
      @somarpr Рік тому

      If there is metal shavings or a bad worn out gear, the plastic one or if the grease odor is nor normal then you have to clean the whole grease out and replace it. In this case it was not needed. The grease in them have that color and has to be a food grade certified one. Some people use the white one which tends to get hard in very cold weather, so you need decide which to use. But the standard one is the darker one.

    This video is 3.5 yrs old now. I went to your website to see parts and these motor parts do not show. Are they special order? I have an OLD Kenwood Chef from the 1950's that if I cover the name, you would swear it was a KitchenAid machine. It was my Mom's and she passed in 1991. I turned it on a couple years ago and the motor still runs but smelled hot. I know it needs lubricating and perhaps the motor needs replacing, so just wondering if you still supply parts. Dan from Ontario.

      Your top two screws need adjusting. Turn them out one turn at a time until you see the speed control plate start to move when you engage second speed. The bottom screw needs to be turned all the way in once second speed is adjusted then adjust speed six.

    • @alang7846
      @alang7846 4 роки тому

      That's the most difficult part of the whole job. I put the machine on it's side, with the planetary supported directly by a block of wood. I had cut a slot in the wood, so with the planetary supported, the pin would fall through the slot. I used Plusgas penetrating oil. The key is to stop the planetary from moving. I had to hit the pin pretty hard.
