- THE BIGGEST THANK YOU AND SHOUT OUT TO JANNIK for letting us borrow his watch for this review!!
Thanks to the german watchblog Zeigr.com for letting me use the Timex picture in the video (6:50)
Guys - this was probably one of the craziest days! I went to Frankfurt this morning to check out what was going on and boy oh boy- the queue was insane! The store opened at 10am and I showed up at 9:45 FAIL! :-D Anyways, Jannik let us borrow is Mission to the Moon so I can give you a super quick hands-on with all the details you have to know!
Let me know what you think of all of this :-D !! I am still super hyped haha
Thank you ❤️
Jenni
SHOUT OUT AND A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Jannik for letting us borrow his watch for this review ❤️
I did went to Frankfurt, Germany this morning but mainly to check out the situation - obviously didn't get one for myself 😅
So what do you think about this release? Did your thoughts change since the announcement two days ago? Let me know in the comments down below!
I got online at the NYC 5th Ave location at 4am, and still didn’t get the watch :( Needed to get there the night before, and there were 5 locations in Manhattan that had them, all had the same issue, sold out in 2 minutes with over 2,000 people on the line…
Jenni = Watch Rock Star! 👍
Love it, I'm over the moon 🌚 for this release. A fun summer watch, I think I will get at least one , maybe going to Mars
Definitely thinking this is now a great thing, glad for the collaboration came out as a fun watch, which is Swatch through and through, but the great lines and design and heritage of the Speedmaster from Omega are also captured nicely in this piece, so I would get one for sure!!!!
I was about to take a 4 hours ride to get one. And tbh It was me being impatient. I still plan on getting one down the line but you brought up the Timex Pepsi and now I see things in a better perspective. Thanks a lot Jenni. :D
As a watch nerd it makes me happy to see that many people pumped about a watch. Hoping the majority are there to own rather than flip.
Sadly that’s almost certainly not the case.
Most are probably there to flip since people that actually looked into the watch would have seen that this is not a limited edition, and it will come online lol.
It be nice if they were there to to keep and own but you know damn well 95% of them are there for the flip
You'd be dumb not to flip it. $2500 and more online. 100% of these early buyers are flipping it and those are probably flipping it too.
It not even limited… lol anyone who buys from flipper are stupid
I stood in line at the San Francisco store today. The line wrapped completely around the block. They were sold out within one hour. The word coming out of the store is that the next batch will be on the shelves in about three weeks. Keep in mind that this series of watches is quartz, not mechanical. Don't pay steel prices for plastic cases.
I Iive in Santa Rosa and thought about going to the SF store, but didn't. Ron did you end up with one?
I did not. When word came that they were down to 50 pieces with 500 people in line, most folks left. They opened at 10am, sold out by 11am. I stayed in line until 12 noon, then surrendered. There were all sorts of logistical problems with this release. First, Swatch should have anticipated the demand and should have shipped the required stock. Second, the Swatch Store created a list of names of those who arrived at closing the day before. Those customers were granted special access in the morning. So if you arrived at 7pm the night before, you could go home, sleep, and get special access at 10am the next day. If you got in line at 5am, you may have waited hours and gotten nothing. They also should have closed the store to regular shopping until THE watch was sold out. The line would have moved much faster and they could have reopened completely at 11am. Swatch did not have their act together. That is what happens when teenagers are left in charge of a billion dollar storefront.
@@RonInNapa They wanted the huge lines.
They wanted to get into the news everywhere. You can’t buy that sort of publicity.
@@Snoop_Dugg I agree it was by design but they should have had more stock on hand. The appropriate model is Apple IPhone launches where there are huge lines but most people get to walk away with something. Maybe instead of 200 pieces they could have had 700 pieces? You can't have 3000 customers for only 200 watches. The marketing was brilliant though as I know people that lined up that never heard of Omega or Speedmasters or knew about NASA and some of these people aren't poor. Now these people are talking about Omega and Facebook and Instagram the watches and their stories of waiting in line.
Actually they opened at 8am, I got mine at around 11:10 they may have had about 30 left when I got mine in SF
I absolutely love your unbiased honesty in your watch review videos Jenni. Thanks for the great review of this Swatch-watch Omega Moon watch! You earned my subscription this time around Jenni Elle! Fred
Thank you so much for the second MoonSwatch video! This confirmed what I suspected about the physical watch and I plan to purchase one next month.
Swatch Group really knew what they were doing with this release. I not only want the moonswatch, I actually want the Speedy I sold four years ago. It’s an icon, it saved the Apollo 13 crew so a toy version has been long overdue. Great vid!
I want every single one of these Swatches. But now I also want an OG speedy. I can afford one but I've never actually wanted one before. These people know what they are doing. I have to respect that hustle.
Agreed I was considering selling my speedy now I’m considering buying one of these and I’m definitely not selling my speedy
Interesting to compare the Swatch move here to what Seiko has always done- a complete range from dirt cheap to luxury. Naturally Swatch is trading on the luxury name connection here repackaged into a budget product. Of course Seiko has struggled themselves with establishing a luxury perception on their high end, since they are primarily identified as a “common” watch maker. It’s a business decision I guess. When Omega sold out to the plastic watch king I suppose they should expect dilution of their brand, if that’s what their “peasant” overlords want to do.
I would love one
@@blasien1 Seiko is a “common” brand trying to be luxury, but omega is a luxury brand trying to do sth. more friendly to younger customers, not the same situation here
I’m starting to think that the Swatch Group may have pulled a genius move here. This operation may well prove to be a “getaway drug” that gets new people into the watch hobby. Looks damn good too, I may be tempted to get one myself :)
Gateway drug/getaway car. 🙂
I dont think so those masses of people are going to try to resale this watch. Its just like those ugly Jordan sneakers.
Haha a getaway drug? Red bull gives you wings so you can getaway!
@@irishwatchenthusiast6647 E30 BMW was my gateway car.
@@grahamcarr17 don't need to convert everyone. Only need to convert 1 percent to make this worthwhile. Lots of these people were unaware that Omega was selected by NASA to be the official watch on space missions and now they know. Some of these people will be going to the Omega boutiques. If I was the head of marketing I would send all these moonswatch buyers a digital copy of the Omega catalog and keep them up to date of the latest Omega launches and models. Genius move!
Great review Jenni! I'll have to wait but will get one of these for my wife. Omega and Swatch have done something neat and you did the best job of reviewing it that I've seen. Thanks!
Kudos for sharing the detailed video of moon watch right after the hype over Swatch stores worldwide. I think the Tiffany Blue is one of the coolest moon-watch to wear, perhaps Omega should make one too
This is a great move from Swatch. Nice to see some hype/interest around a watch for a change rather than a phone. Quite amazed that people are paying over £1000+ from flippers for something that in essence is a basic swatch chronograph with an Omega logo and isn’t limited, but it’s their money.
but a bad move for OMEGA, it actually de-values the brand.
@@hrvojelasic5794 no it doesn't
@@hrvojelasic5794 Omega does’t have the same re-sale value like Rolex anyway.
@@Serena_9 Now it will have even lower. Rolex resale value has been built, it is not an accident.

Thanks for your video Jenni! Wow! I couldn't believe the amount of people that showed up! I'm glad that Omega and Swatch are teaming up to make an affordable watch for everybody!
I think this colab is a win for both Swatch and Omega. It’s brought hype to the watch world that’s rarely seen before. Also Swatch is giving people the chance to kinda own a speedmaster, cause for a lot of people owning a $7K watch is not attainable. This is great for Omega cause I think this is gonna bring new eyes to their company and a new generation that might not have been aware of Omega. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Mission to the Moon, I’ll be patiently waiting for the online release.
A win for both they are the same companies…
Thank you for a great video Jenni! I was put off when I saw the chaos at the stores and just plain disgusted when I saw the flippers starting to popup online. With that said I am getting strangely drawn to it and will most definitely buy the Moon when it becomes available in store/online again with the view of picking up one of the more colourful options in the summer. I have "higher end" Rolex and Omega watches in my collection and these ones will complement it perfectly. Look forward to getting my hands on one!
Pretty sure many people will regret buying these swatches above retail. I would still buy it at a later stage because it's such a cool concept. I hope they do more within the Swatch group and also other Omega models in the future. They will make a fun collection on their own!
I want an Omega Longines collaboration
Omega Swatch Seamaster 007
I would buy one for half the MSRP in two years but despite all the rumors,I really don't think they will produce that much!
I worry that people will regret buying them AT retail. That's why I posted the superior specs of the much cheaper Pagani PD-1701. At least it helps people stay informed.
Sorry I buy Rolex I don’t buy omega
Thanks for the coverage, Jenni. While I think I will eventually wind up getting one, I definitely don't need one right away. Was not available at my local swatch store anyways. In my personal opinion, it's something fun, new & unique for people to get a little excited for which is much needed nowadays.
Even the most diehard watch snobs secretly want these. They are just so cool. I am an Omega owner and I would definitely have no problem rocking 3 or 4 of these and getting a few fun straps to go with them.
@Harry Balls you just need to wait. People paying for this watch for that amount is stupid. This is not a limited drop
One of the best review I have seen! Video is soooo nicely shot and makes me wanna get one soon haha. Thanks again!
I really do enjoy watching your videos .. they are very short, beautiful scenery and very honest reviews .. please continue ☺️😎
I went to the Las Vegas Swatch store. I drove by an hour before and saw hundreds of people waiting. Im sure there isn’t enough supply for all those people. I’ll just have to wait for a MoonSwatch but at least I can wear my original in the mean time. I grew up wearing swatches when they originally came out. Fun watches to own.
Thank you so much for putting together this overview so quickly!
Thank you so much for your insight and advice! Can I also say, Jenni, that you are a wonderful and charming ambassador of our hobby. My guess is that each of your videos gains thousands of new enthusiasts. I love that you bring crazy joie de vivre to even the dullest topic. One question: Can you foresee the Omega x Swatch pieces ever finding their way into a luxury Omega dealer?
I think this is the first video I've seen with someone actually wearing the watch - great for referencing actual size and how it sits on a human wrist. Great content!
Great overview, Jenni! I think this is brilliant and that Omega should offer a Moonwatch/MoonSwatch box set. You could wear one on the weekends and one on the weekdays. Thanks for the great coverage!
Towards the end of the year I could see a limited edition set in a special presentation case for collectors. Maybe include a piece of meteorite or get them signed by real astronauts. The marketing opportunities are endless.
I'll be in line for the moonwatch condoms, fan starter jacket, and hi top sneakers with the omega logo. Maybe they can come out with some omega shaped cinnamon buns... and a sports drink.
I was very excited about the new releases in a variety of colors and picked out a couple that I would’ve loved to have picked up today. But being an omega speed watch owner already I decided not to wait in line today and to wait a few weeks for the excitement to die down to where I can walk into a swatch boutique and pick out a couple that I like. Congratulations to all of you who stuck it out and scored the moon Swatch today! No way I will pay any more than retail for what Swatch is saying is not a limited release.
You are correct except I doubt you will be picking one up in weeks. As a marketing professional I see value in milking this situation for ages. They would be stupid to flood the market and make it easy to get.
More stock arriving daily
@@almac9203 not everyone is a rolex ignorant marketer....do you ever realize the backlash of swatch people if the very company that made an audience CAUSE THEY SELL EASY TO FIND AND CHEAP WATCHES starting to act like rolex?.....cause i dont think you realize what will happen...in a month the BASIC COLORS versions will be EVERYWHERE and this is EXACTLY why omega said yes in the first place ITS AN ADD FOR THEM
@@wellnesportstore9519 it is an advert for them but the advert is desirability and coolness. There is no desirability if you flood the market. I have an honors degree in marketing and I understand the situation far better than you. What you are advocating would hurt Omega. The smart approach is to make sure demand exceeds supply and make sure the watches are desired. No flooding the market with cheap watches. Rectify the situation in time for Christmas. The cash cow is not Swatch but Omega so the goal has to be to benefit Omega not Swatch and flooding the market with cheap quartz watches doesn't benefit Swatch. You simply are clueless with your thoughts because you don't understand marketing.
@@wellnesportstore9519 BTW Rolex is not an ignorant marketer but genius marketers. Rolex Revenue is over 3.5 times higher than Omega so they know what they are doing. Rolex sold twice as many watches as Omega and sold them at almost twice the price for watches that objectively are no better which is simply genius.
This video just popped up in my feed and I liked it. I own an omega seamaster which took me some time to purchase. This watch caught my eye and I like the craftsmanship. It's affordable and looks durable not to mention stylish. I wasn't in the market to buy one but I just might. Great video 👍
Great review Jenni - I have to say the quality of your videos and especially the cinematography is top drawer! :)
Didn’t make an attempt, here in NYC, but read articles and videos about the event. I think it’s fantastic. A collaboration that’s fun, marketed beautifully, and will be readily available. Some are critical of hype, others know it when they see it and chose to join in the excitement or sit it out. I may have chosen the latter, but in time I will make a purchase because the Moonswatch is what the hobby needed. A “want” that isn’t generated by scarcity or snobbery.
This is one of the biggest watch related events ever. We got to see experiences of the lines from all over the world for the love of the Moonswatch. Hope to get my hands on the Jupiter one someday. The accents on the dial and bezel match the planet's colours well.
I think its a masterclass in marketing. Kudos to Omega and Swatch. Omega gets hype around their product, edging them closer to rolex as a brand, and a Swatch people will actually want to buy. And ofcourse, all us cheapo's finally can say "I've also got a Speedmaster". Win, win, win.
lmao what are you on?! Omega diluting their brand by collaborating with a plastic watch maker is doing nothing in terms of getting them closer to rolex
Yeah, but they don't have a Speedmaster. They have a cheap imitation. I've already had someone ask if my real Speedmaster was a Moonswatch. I laughed at him and said "WTF would I wear a POS on my wrist?" Yeah I'm a snob. Get over it.
Its an over priced swatch that dilutes omegas brand. Master class my ass. As a person who can afford the real omega... I now would look to breitling or others instead of omega... And I'm dead serious.
@@tigerblaze1205 they are owned by swatch. I would think a watch “connoisseur” would know this….
@@DAGATHire a person who can afford a real omega would not feel the need to be making such claims on a UA-cam video 😂😂
@Jenni Elle The material used for the crystal of the original speedy is called Hesalite. It's a type of acrylic. I'm guessing the same is used for the swatch. Sapphire or glass was never chosen for the moonwatch due to fears of glass shards floating around in zero G if one was to break or shatter. Easter egg, all original speedys have the omega symbol in the middle of the 'crystal'. As an homage the Swatch x Omega has an 'S' instead.
Just waited in line, wasn’t able to grab one, but was able to see all the models in person. They look better in person than on camera. Definitely going to have to get one or two when there’s a wider release.

Love to hear that
Im not jealous you're jealous.

Good to know. Man on the F ing moon, punters! As Arch would put it. Checking their website weekly. 🌕⌚
Which one was your fav in person?
I will be getting one later. Not fighting with everyone at the beginning of the sale. It's just a fun piece to add to my collection
I think the word "fun" is suitable for this watch, collectable is another story. this is not mechanical legendary moon watch. it's like buying a knockoff Daytona watch just because I could not afford the real one.
@@tienchan271 . As I predicted, some of these are selling for more than the real Omega..so they definitely can afford the real omega but willing to pay more for the swatch. It's all about supply/demand/hype/market manipulation in the watch game.

Hi Jenni, as always, I am a big fan. I am also a big speedy fan as well. My parents bought me my first "real" watch for my thirteenth birthday. It was a Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. That was in 1975. I love that watch and I think that is the watch that opened my eyes to horology later on in life. While I loved the watch, I didn't wear it much, since it is a 42 and I am a member of the guy's, itty bitty wrist club at under 8 inches. I still have that Speedy and I cherish it. A few years ago I found out about the speedy reduced while in the middle of my watch addiction days. So of course I bought one.. Love it and wear it. I am disapointed with the new Swatch version though. I like the watches, but I wish they had done an "Omega Design By Swatch" without the Omega branding. I don't understand the waiting lines and the frenzy over a quartz version. What's your opinion?
Until this release, I’d kind of forgotten that the Swatch group owns Omega!
I quite like it, it’s a speedy you wouldn’t be afraid to wear while at work or fixing the car etc, will probably snag one when they became available online.
$40 watch for $260, LOL suckers!!!
@@dski8097 generally speaking, swatch chronographs go for around £150 here in the uk, so yeah sure there’s a £50 premium for this model, but at the end of the day, most watch enthusiasts would happily spend a few hundred ££ on a single strap/bracelet, so £200 for an interesting watch to add to the collection is a no brainer.
And how most Omega owners would love you to forget they are owned by the Swatch group.. Now it's in bright lights Omega owners.. lol
I absolutely love these and have every intention of getting one. They're just fun watches. I think what they did was very clever. These fun colourful timepieces, along with the surrounding hype, would attract the average person who's not necessarily into watches to both their brands. They needed it to be cheap, cheerful, colourful and quartz to differentiate it from the Moonwatch. They absolutlely don't want this to be a replacement or substitute for the legendary Omega. To the watch fans, like myself, its a chance to get a Moonwatch Lite (on the journey to buying an actual Omega Moonwatch). It's a no brainer. What's more, when these MoonSwatches are finally discontinued, the newly created watch fans would have the seed of the Omega Moonwatches firmly implanted in their brains.
It's a big risk and a very bold move but I think it will pay off in the long run.
I’m gonna wait for the Daytona x G-Shock collaboration. 😉 (Could you even imagine the crowds?).
I appreciate the review and the information - it made me more likely to buy one in a month or so when the hype has died down.
its a cool idea but not gonna happen😂
@@GOJT Yeah, I was joking there. It would never happen in a million years. But, it’s all good.
😀😀😀
Hey that was my idea. I floated it during the Watch Gringa's live discussion the other day. Wouldn't that be great, but doubt would Rolex go for it. 😂😂😂 On the other hand this roll-out seems to be really going well...so ya never know for sure. 😂
Lol Rolex is not Omega. They are a proper luxury brand.
Thank you for the helpful review! I also agree that people should not pay scalper prices for these. I'm sure a bunch of scalpers bought these for the sole purposes of resell, so I hope people will just wait for them to be in stock.
Whilst I'm not interested in getting one this is a genius move! Massive exposure for both Swatch and Omega plus huge sales. Omega is clearly gunning for Rolex and this is a significant step forward for them capturing future buyers.
If Omega thinks that by diluting it's brand by getting into bed with Swatch is the way to take future sales off Rolex then they have a madman in charge of marketing. The target market for Swatch are fast becoming the generation of smart watches with little future interest in mechanical watches. However if Swatch manages to bring new buyers into the market with the means to afford and appreciate Rolex and Omega and they want a watch that will appreciate then there is only one choice between the two brands and that's the Rolex. I currently own a 2016 Submariner and a 2001 Seamaster, the Sub is a time less classic appreciating at a shocking rate and unfortunately for Omega the Seamaster looks dated and lost value. Add to that the horrendous service costs and service intervals of the Omega mechanical watches, over double the cost and half the service length of a Rolex, as well as their depreciation I will not buy another one. If anything I believe that Omega has given up competing with Rolex and are considering going down market in search of new customers. In my opinion Tudor have the potential to be more valued brand than Omega.
Poppycock!

I wanted to get the baby blue (I'll giggle like a child if I say the actual name) as a fun pop culture homage to the iconic original. I went early morning to take a look but unfortunately Swatch botched the Hong Kong rollout bigtime.
Hundreds of people lined up overnight only to be told an hour before open that the HK launch was put on hold*. Shops didn't even open to avoid trouble. But then hours after people were sent home, some shops suddenly started handling out tickets to buy.
Cancelling last minute shows incompetent planning. Randomly cancelling the cancellation is Next Level stupidity 🤦🏻♂️
*No official explanation but it's obvious that Swatch wanted to avoid violating govt Covid restrictions.

This has to be one of the most ingenious branding/marketing moves out there... so cool. Only wish there were a Swatch boutique in my country. :(
They are going on general online sale soon , and arent a limited run , so some of these scalpers will get burnt
I was asking myself if i really liked the look of the mission to the moon one, but after i seen it in the video i think i'm gonna go for the mission to mercury. The darker aspect of that one seems less "plastic" thant the mission to the moon. Also i was at one of paris stores this morning and it was really creasy to see people step the line from the swatch stoore to the louvre museum entrance haha. there were so much people i just give up and decide to wait for a drop online. Great video !!! :)
I totally agree. The grey of the Mercury looks like a titanium watch i have. Weight is probably similar also.
I drove 2 hours to the San Francisco Swatch store, and the line was around a whole city block. I knew the store only had 150 watches, so I left, and spent the day in the city, shopping elsewhere. I did get to look at one that someone had purchased, and it looked and felt like a plastic watch. Having said that, I still want one, but am content to wait until they are readily available online.
I guess you should regard it as a daily beater swatch and not give too much thought to its build quality
A cheap plastic swatch watch looks and feels like a cheap plastic swatch watch, color me surprised. The movements in these watches are in all their watches from 20$-80$. People are getting ripped off for the Omega name brand.

I hope they don’t just limit this collaboration to the Moonwatch, this could be just the start of something of bigger future collabs. They could venture to expanding the concept to the Seamaster Omega x Swatch collab too: there are 31 varieties of the Sea theme for them to think about (e.g., Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red, Baltic, Arabian, South China, Celebes, etc). Another one is Railmaster collab series: the likes of Amtrak, British, Eurostar, Trenitalia, Oriental Express, SBB, etc). Better yet, the Constellation collab series would do great with so many possible variants.
These watches are worth about 20-30$. Sold for 10x that. People have no idea just how cheap these things are. It says omega. It has the speedmaster look. It says “swiss made”.
😓
@@treatb09 isn’t it that the real worth of an item is for much a buyer is willing to pay for it? Even some commodities get sold for more than 10x its expected ‘worth’. Stocks for example do have a par value but its market value is sometimes way more than that and sometimes >10x. Even art value could be sometimes astronomically more than the raw materials (e.g. Banksy’s). The thing is, the idea and heritage and perception behind the item produced at times drive the premium that captures the following and sentiment of the market. No matter how cheap the materials may have been, Omega x Swatch took on the challenge and bravado to come up with this concept that some of us think as genius, and is resonating with various generations and class.
Your idea about the seas and train companies is absolutely brilliant! Although a Swatch Railmaster based on British train companies would probably be broken half the time!
Great insight as always Jenni. The inevitable hype, ridiculous over-priced secondary values and people's impatience will cost you dearly just to get what is basically a cleverly marketed, cheap plastic quartz Swatch with an Omega badge. If you must have one it makes more sense to be patient and buy at retail once the dust settles.
Dont buy from the flippers. Starve them out so they stop flipping, so the people who actually want the watch can get them at the store.

A very bold step for Omega to collaborate with Swatch on this collection. From my perspective, this is an amazing and fresh idea for both brands, and it takes courage to do that, especially when talking about Omega and how can this decision impact the brand if the public reaction for moonswatch collection would be negative...I would buy it, just because no luxury brand has done it before Omega. Jenni, keep on doing great videos! @
I agree ! Actually Omega is part of the swatch group and this has certainly simplified the partnership.
Omega is owned by Swatch so this isn't a big of a collab as most people make it to be.

Totally. But what happens these days is people only read/hear the word 'limited' in that sentence and freak out accordingly. It's genuinely scary. Like last year in the UK, when the gov said there was definitely no shortage of fuel, so everyone formed queues at petrol stations.
@@paulc7956 yeah I agree. People need to remember that this is for FUN, it’s a hobby

That's extremely naive you guys think these are just gonna be easily available. Why would they do a limited release if theyre gonna make them easily available in near future? No chance in hell. The online drop will sell out in seconds. There's zero chance everyone with 300$ will be able to own one of these watches it would absolutely destroy the original speedmaster and prestige of Omega. If they're cheap they need to be limited otherwise who tf is going to want to spend 5k on a speedmaster? These will not be easily available I guarntee it
As a watch enthusiastists myself. This type of Swatch x Omega watches are great for gift because they are well-made and quite affordable for me to "invite" people around me to come to this hobby. Well-done Swatch and Omega. I will wait for the online availability.
I was just thinking it looks cheap AF and no way would I own one, maybe worth buying for someone who isn't serious about Horology.
Well made? It is still just a swatch. A cool one... but still a cheap, plastic, disposable, sealed (unrepairable), quartz swatch
@@-Jason-L Yes, just an Swatch with Omega logo and design. The same thing China phone companies have been doing for years, cloning each other. And they even sell you plastic watches for $300, can’t believe people falling for it.
From Australia Jenny, the store in Melbourne apparently had around 2,000 people lined up from 5:30AM Saturday morning!😱 I’m in country Victoria, about 2.5 hours away. I asked my daughter who is at uni & living in Melbourne could she go to the store. She arrived later in the day & yep was told “All sold out!” Anyway I have my real Speedy but hopefully I’ll be able to get one of these at some point. You were very optimistic arriving 15 minutes beforehand!🤪🤣👍🏼🇦🇺
Thanks for the comments about the Moonswatches likely becoming available again in the future. Guess I'll just have to wait it out.
Thx for this mini review. Crazy world.
Wish you’d pushed the pushers and lumed it up. Will get 1 online at MSRP - looks like a great beater in the summer (no way that giant Velcro thingie is working w long sleeves. The tough part will be deciding; some very cool color combos.
Ahh shoot, you're right!
Agreed. Would have loved to have e heard how the pushes feel and whether the lume is at least as good as a real Speedy Pro (which admittedly, is garbage :) ).
@@jasonswitzer1748 I’d never heard that about the Speedy. Is that all Omegas?
@@WestCoastAce27 poor lume? For the most part yea… Speedys aren’t known for their lume. The Silver Speedy is the one exception, but that’s the exception not the rule. That being said, don’t let that put you off. They’re fantastic otherwise!
Clearly Omega has made the most beautiful wrist watch ever and now almost everybody can wear this beautiful homage, well done Swatch! And Omega!
I agree, they made it too good!!!
I would love this in a reduced case size of 38mm. My small wrists just don't work with 42mm! That being said, it is a really cool watch, and I can't wait to see what else they do.
Not for me, but I'm so happy I bought a diver 300m brand new a couple months ago. Omega is one of my favorite watch brands and I hope people who hear about this will look and appreciate their fascinating history and great pieces. Hopefully I can pick up a aqua terra soon because I doubt omegas prices are going down from here
Just my speculation.
Step 1 - initial run, low quantity, to determine interest (and not wind up with a warehouse of 10K unsold watches), sold in person with limits to hinder the scalpers.
Step 2 - follow on with much larger quantities, sold online.
Probably the best way to eventually get a watch in the hands of the people who really want one.
It's a watch company 😂 the low quantity is to boost demand not to "determine interest"
Well, I have always been a G-shock guy and kind of got more into watch wearing with the Casioak even before I knew what AP was. I went through Seiko into GS too. Now I have a 3861 Sapphire amongst other time pieces so I can definitely appreciate the "gateway watch" argument.
The only thing Swatch messed up on was only having 150 pieces at their boutiques and I think A LOT of people walk away disappointed so Swatch could have done better in the department.
I reckon I will check out Jupiter, Mercury and Earth in real light when it's back in stock. Some watch fans genuinely want this watch because the Professional is out of their price range so I will let them take their fill before I take my pick.
I reckon Moonswatch on silicon straps will be really comfortable to wear. :D
Omega have tons of quality NATO straps on their website that would fit or if you have a real Speedmaster you could take the bracelet and attach it to this. Lots of ways to personalize this watch.
@@almac9203 their nato straps cost the same as the moonswatch itself, not many people will go for the omega straps.
@@almac9203 Thanks for the advice buddy! I am more of a MN and Zuludiver fan when it comes to NATO style.
The humidity where I live went off the chart, so I am enjoying a FKM rubber strap with my 3186. There is this nice dense feel that balances the watch head quite nicely. It's just nice being able to rinse the watch every day. :p
Its like stamping a Ferarri on a bull cart
A run down Ferarri is always a Ferarri
A run down Bull is always a bull
Great Review. I was in Firenze, Italy and had know idea why 200 Italians (and no foreigners) were in line next to the Duomo. I asked, and they told me it was a new Swatch watch. It looks nice.
I was leaning toward the camp of not getting one, and if anything your review reinforced that. I appreciate it for what it is and if I could get one for cheap I would, but yeah :)
Hopefully they ramp up production so the product meets the demand otherwise it's just going to continue to be scalped and the price will remain high. Probably won't happen anytime soon unfortunately.
This was a great marketing masterclass by SWATCH. In addition to bringing more people into this hobby, it managed to make a bonding moment. Fathers can have a moment to bring a kid/teenager into something fun with the MoonSwatch and all the while start a lifelong appreciation/aspiration to finer timepieces. The thrill of the hunt, the journey. Think about it, younger generation is being primed for a future higher end Omega (Swatch Group) purchase.
I don't see this brining new people into it. This will be forgotten in a month and after people start doing real reviews and will find it is just crappy swatch watch underneath it all.
Wtf you smokin mate. Get some sleep you clown
@@skellington2000 Even Casios have collector value, put down your crank pipe.

Yeah. Sure. Like if kids really care hat much about dragging 42mm things on the wrist. BS.
Thank you! love your assessment and review!
Great review and excellent advice for people at the end!
The point for me is not that it "looks or feels like the luxury watch it is imitating" but I see it as more of a fun Swatch. I don't personally care for the moon version for this reason. But I will definitely get one of the more fun colors such as Venus (after patiently waiting of course). Hopefully not in the same way I am still patiently waiting for a ps5 lol
Check and ask in store at the big electronics retailer. I got two series X's on separate occasions within one week, I got routed to another location locally the first time 40 mins away since it was 6:30pm and got the second one 5 minutes away at my location.
The people will bullshit you, but having some people skills will net you the real solution. They are limited as hell, but they are stocking short batches in a biweekly state from my observations.
I thought about the “imitating factor” but it really isn’t. The manufacturer is the swatch group. That makes me feel like getting it even more. But yes it’s a quartz movement
Well, but pink and pale blue watch apparently show out a strong clue that's not an omega speedmaster watch
Like many others have written, I think it is nice to see this kind of hype, especially for a reasonably priced watch. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at the meeting where this idea was pitched. I do not now how the Swatch group is run, but it would have been interesting to know if Omega were on-board from the beginning or if they were coerced into it. I hope they get restocked soon, I am interested in the "Mission to Mars" one.
Wow! I can finally put an Omega on my Christmas list. It would make a great gift and is actually an Omega, and a Swatch.
It's really just a $99 swatch watch.
I think I'll definitely buy one in due course if, as I suspect, Swatch won't play games. I'll swing by my store to see them in person, maybe try them on if I can. it's fun, it's a nice look. It will look too big on me and that's why I would never consider the real thing anyway. this is a good alternative for me to get the look without breaking the bank. the fact that (if what I read online is correct) only the pink one comes with a shorter strap pisses me off immensely.
What does getting the look mean?
"Cheap plastic swatch" is getting the "Look" I look cheap?
@@nearlyretired7005 I NEVER look cheap. I don't need to spend 7000 euros not to look cheap. I've seen plenty of people wearing 10k watches looking cheap as hell. I don't know you, you don't know me...let's leave it at that, shall we?
The amount of “goodwill” omega has built from this release is off the charts.
Built? Do you not think it has devalued their brand by associating it with swatch? And now I would never buy a speedmaster (unless I win the lottery big time), because it doesn't seem very exclusive to me anymore.
@Angus M bruhh. There are shit tons of replica out there for any expensive watch brands. I don't think it will devalue the omega brand. Instead, it will make the original speedmaster even more popular, contrary to your belief.
Totally. Now I can have a reminder of man's first trip to the moon! And if I ever win the lotto I'll get a big boi for the other wrist! 😃
@Pyae Phyo I see where you're coming from but the fact that it's a licensed model takes away the stigma of fake watches. Also, all brands have fakes, but now omega has associated themselves with a lesser brand. Don't get me wrong ill buy a MoonSwatch but I can see a lot of angry omega owners online right now. A devalued brand is not always a bad thing. With this increased brand exposure, they can move into a more affordable price range and capitalise on their new brand image.
@Angus M I feel like Omega shouldn't let swatch borrow its "speedmaster" name. I don't mind Omega doing collabs with Swatch. But, Speedmaster has always been associated with historical prestige. I would say Omega is diluting its speedmaster lineup much more so than its own brand name. I am nowhere near a position to purchase these luxury watches, but if you think about it, Omega doesn't even come close to some of the high-end luxury brands in terms of pricing. To an ordinary Joe like you and me, owning an Omega watch might be a biggie, but definitely not to collectors. That being said, Omega has always been my favorite, and I absolutely love its seamaster and speedmaster watches.
I congratulate you on this beautiful video! And also for the very precise review, and with lots of external shots outside the Swatch shop! But in my opinion ...I wouldn't spend that money to get it. in fact, I prefer to put them aside to make a higher budget for a future purchase. Because this MoonSwatch was just a big marketing operation! Anyway, I still congratulate you 👍
This is a great watch for kids or astronomy/space enthusiasts. I would get whole collection just because I am into space travel and science in general. This is the pet rock of watches. I think it will get people into watches again, so its a win win. Not everybody can afford the real high end stuff or a smart watch.
Actually the "real" omega speedmaster moonwatches tend to come with acrylic crystals more than Sapphire, so its more authentic that it doesn't have sapphire. A key part of the specifications from NASA was that the crystal wouldn't shatter if broken - you really don't want glass shards in space. Modern conveniences and practicality ahs led to more Sapphire crystal versions as time passes but the acrylic crystal is still the default for the OG moonwatch models.
Looking at a real video of it rather than the promo shots, a bit dissapointing TBH. Will still try and grab one given how cheap it, how crazy the hype has gotten and how close my office is to the Oxford street Swatch shop, but as far as Quartz "Moonwatches go the Bulova version seems like a much better deal, and that comes with a pretty interesting high frequency quartz "sweeping" movement as well as actual moon heritage (albeit less than Omega's).
I just wanna say ... Sapphire is a kind of crystal and is NOT glass, OK !
@@lorddiablo8575 it shatters the same as glass once broken
Still during apollo 15 the glass has been broken so David schott performed his eva with his own bulova moonwatch…
First off. In a time when smartwatches are hoarding the market, with Apple outselling all Swiss watch brands 30 to 20 million units in 2019, it is refreshing to see people lining up to buy the MoonSwatch like if it was the latest Iphone. This proves that there are enthusiasts for traditional watches, but more importantly, appreciation for craftsmanship and quality. It simply is too expensive. Imagine there was an affordable Rolex Submariner, instead of the hundreds of copies people buy instead. That's a lot of money going away from the company who design the watch. If I was to start a watch collection, having an original entry level Speedmaster would be great.
Agreed... Honestly today this "affordable submariner" is found in microbrands that offer infinitely better value than Rolex etc, like for example Zelos or Helm. Too bad the bigger brands are now only focused on becoming more premium; Seiko still enjoys a following, but they've been moving their prices up, unfortunately.
Ahhh my arse. This watch is more expensive than a titanium bodied with sapphire glass Huawei smart watch. This plastic fake omega us significantly. More expensive. In fact. So where's the logic eh? Thus plastic shite faking omega branding has no real value. Fact
I couldn’t find anything on Swatch’s website either about the crystal material. I would say if the crystal feels unusually warm to the touch it is most likely acrylic.
Crazy. Can't believe that people line up for a watch. Too bad, I just use my phone to know the time. Thank you for sharing your experience. Very interesting 😀
Imagine walking past the swatch store, not knowing this was being released & wondering what the hell is going on... I mean swatch is general seen as watches for kids/young adults & you've got all these grown adults lining up with baited breathe in anticipation for a swatch.
"bated"
If I ever find myself near a store selling them I would probably go in and take a look and, if I did, I might impulse-buy one, probably the Pluto but, if I were to, I honestly doubt I would wear it much if at all. I was never really interested and that has not changed as the drama unfolded.
hmmmmm.... cognitive split....
Certainly a value for money piece if one was able to get it at retail price, given the rich history of the two watch companies, Omega and Swatch.
But I certainly agree that people should not be paying exorbitant prices, like what was posted in the video on external sites.
Love the novelty of playing with different colours for these watches, and the stories created for these MoonSwatch. Amazing.
I like how objective you are, way more impartial than allot of youtubers
So many people are saying this is going to devalue Omega. I don't believe that will happen. Imagine someone buying this because the original is out of their price range, they fall in love with it and then make it their goal to save for an original Speedmaster. Or if a kid is gifted this (or buys it) as their first watch and then it is their goal when they grow older to own a real Speedmaster. It's not like a collaboration project makes Omega watches any lower quality or drops their price point, but it definitely will introduce a whole new group of people to Omega in one way or another. Even if someone loves the look of the watch but isn't a huge fan of how it wears/feels/etc. it can draw them into a store to try on the real deal. It's like the Apple Watch introducing so many people to watches and getting them into traditional watches despite the fact that they get bad rap from some watch "enthusiasts". Anything that can bring more people to watches is a good thing, and it looks like this is doing the trick.
As an Omega owner I am actually quite excited for this even though I likely won't ever buy one.
These watches do look appealing to younger folks because it has that “fun and vibrant” vibe going as compared to original Omega. Kinda like Apple Watch. I am planning to get Uranus when available online.
@@kuku505 It was a brilliant move to make something with Omega branding readily available to anyone who can afford a decent quartz watch. It is the exact opposite of what Omega's biggest competitor, Rolex, is doing right now with the ridiculous grey market pricing and "wait lists" that don't really even exist. Honestly I think it is a brilliant marketing tactic that will pay dividends for the brand for years to come. When you think about how much hype this watch had with only a few days notice it's amazing. Streets were packed full of people waiting in line for this thing, people lining up a day in advance. When is the last time that happened for a watch outside of Apple?
Hope you get plenty of enjoyment out of Uranus.
@@mortekaieve4729 thanks man. Im sure will. Moonswatch is a way for Omega to penetrate into newer market and raise awareness to Omega luxury watch. Those who fell in love with the design may consider getting into other Omega further down the line as people grow older. Rolex may play their scarcity game, but i dont see any consistency in them delivering the best experience.
These are great. Just don't give the flippers the satisfaction of ripping you off. Swatch can handle mass production and I feel it is pretty obvious one of the goals is to have these Speedy available and on every wrist for those who want one. Be patient and thou shall be rewarded with a choice if whatever style MoonSwatch you want at retail price.
I also thought about it...I should give it longer to see if I really wanted it or if its just a hype thing
@@2bitmarketanarchist337 yeah, the reality of it will be a nice watch to include and have fun with in collection. Doesn't cost THAT much. But, in grand scheme of things there will certainly be much better watches to be had, if you don't already own some already. It's just way super hyped right now. I'm keeping that hype and the FOMO syndrome out of my head by wearing some of my favorite timepieces in the mean time. I definitely have better mechanical chronographs that I greatly enjoy. And, there are a decent number of recent additions which I should give more time with also. This is a genius design, genius marketing, and hits a unique price/value/style combination that nobody else saw a demand for. I don't even wear a watch, but I want one of these to dress up with, so hats off to Omega for a brilliant move! I'll wait for the insanity to die down, before I get one, since I'm not into parading around with the hot-product-of-the-month. (People buying them for the price of a genuine Speedy are plainly nuts - I imagine they have Beanie Baby collections, too.)
I'll probably swap out the ugly strap for something more subdued (and save the "original" for if/when I want to pass it on or sell it.) BTW, the crystal is acrylic, as you'd expect.
Thanks for the video. Really nice shots. I read through the comments on the Swatch IG and they often said that this watch is not limited and it will be released online soon. So I think we all should stay calm and wait.
Also I think that the idea of Omega to build up a partner project with Swatch really genius. But the way they brought it up to the community was a disaster. They immediately released a video of the queues worldwide for promotional usage. But the people waited for hours and some stores only got 100 watches. Great project. Bad execution.
I was about to buy an Omega a couple of months ago but I didn't, and I'm very happy about that right now, for how I see it with this watch Omega lost a lot of brand prestige.
For some weird reason it makes me want a real one more? Was never on the radar before even after owning several Omegas.
I have the latest real speedy 3861 and i’ve never been so happy to wear the original one after this collab from omega x swatch. Mekes the real one even more special

Here's how to check for sapphire crystal on the fly: take a watch with a known sapphire crystal and the watch in question. Lay both out on table for 30 minutes so they may adapt to room temperature. Then hold each watch with the crystal to your forehead. If the known sapphire watch is colder, then the other isn't - otherwise they'll feel the same.
30 minutes, on the fly?
Or buy a 20 dollar diamond tester pen from eBay. It tests for thermal coefficient so yea.
Thank you! So glad I saw this video first. I wasn’t aware that Swatch had said they will be available online. I was about to become impatient. 😅
Great Video Jenni. I love Omega's watches but this idea....it's the biggest idea in 2022 marketing watches around the world. Its amaizing to think in this perspective way....broke the rules.
Swatch watches are fantatstic too... the quality, the design, moderns, and now with this strategic aliance with Omega just one word: Fantastic. Think different....welcome!
Absolutely amazing to me that people would line up for hours for a watch that will be readily available in the not too distant future. Even more amazing are the people paying thousands of dollars for a $250 dollar watch on ebay. I guess they didn't do their homework and are likely going to hate themselves when they see thousands of them on sale at the MSRP.
For those of us who are old enough to remember the 80's Swatch craze, it's really mind boggling to see what a powerhouse Swatch has become. I'm excited to own one of my own.
When u get one be Ware of the box when u close it and the crystal is in its way the rough box scratches the crystal very easily

Amazing move from the Swatch Group. Last time in living memory that a consumer product caused so much hype and lines on the stores was an iPhone release several years back.
Makes me want to get the original even more. Therefore great move by the Swatch Group.
Well the Speedmaster Professional (they are both real Speedmasters) is available right now, so do let me know when you have one, but I won’t hold my breath 🙄
And I sold and still selling mine because of that "marketing move". For me this kind of watches are a bit luxuary, and i dont want then every one has one - especially not when they are now selling on discount prices and every 15 year old wears a "omega".

Greeting and salutations, personally with my humble knowledge in watches, I found it clever and smart concept from the swatch group since not only boost swatch watches sale rather increases the popularity and respect to the real Omega brand watches. Rightly so not to buy it for double the price in the flipping market since it’s a readily available swatch watches as they promised . Respect to the concept.
Anyone lusting over this watch, what you are actually buying is a fashion watch. This isn't a "cheap omega". You are buying a swatch that looks like an omega but there is no fooling that it is a swatch.
Buying a cheap imitation of a real watch with cheap internals that is overpriced but has a name brand and marketing that appeals to the target demographic. That is the definition of a fashion watch like a daniel wellington or mvmt.
The second hand doesn’t even hit the markers :(
Well chosen words of wisdom and I shall dutifully wait. I wore Swatch watches for years while working and, as you might expect, they all worked flawlessly until I trod on them.
I will be giving the Omega/Swatch 'Moonwatch' a go...why not - the range is fun, fresh and relevant. Probably less so when there are tens of thousands of permutations on wrists. I could say that of a Rolex OP of course (if I could actually buy one.)
You did a fantastic review of the new omega swatch watch. If the crystal is acrylic that's a disadvantage to me. Also the tip of the Velcro strap just hanging around might be a problem. I kinda miss the date or day indication… But I understand that wasn't part of the original Omega speedmaster the watch is based on. So I may or may not get it. But I appreciate your great review. Thank you.
