Crazy how every watch content creator hates it because it’s “overpriced at $260” but loves the speed master and will gladly cough up $5000 for one. Why can’t it just be fun? I love mine.
My opinion of it has slightly changed since making this video. I'm not so mad at it anymore. It is a bit of fun. I do think though, if you don't have a lot of money to collect watches then I'd definitely avoid the moonswatch and get something else
@@michaelFat2112 I have it on right now! It has a few scuffs on the face (I need to polish it I guess) but the band and case look just fine. Keeps time well and is super comfortable.
Exactly. Picked the moon version up, since i was near the swatch store, they had them in stock. Nobody would mistake this thing for my speedy, but it’s a goid looking, extremely light watch for everyday use. I’m quite happy with it, i absolutely would buy it again.
It looks like they're taking the success and running with it. I wouldn't be surprised now to see them make a 'special edition' every 6 moths for the next 10 years, unfortunately.
This is a collaboration between Omega AND Swatch. I think people really forgetting Swatch here and people who like swatches love this watch IMO. I know it's the same group, but this isn't a Speedmaster contracted out to Swatch, it's Swatch's usual boundry/tech/industry pushing style mixed with Omega. it's meant to be worn, abused, and be worn regularly. Anyone who has been a long time swatch fan/wearer is already familiar with that. I've owned swatches in every price range for almost three decades (since I was a kid) and it's a refreshing design collaboration with what I expect from Swatch. You should wear this watch as often as possible and basically beat the watch into the ground, then throw on some polywatch clear up the watch face and keep on going until the thing is dead. This is not meant to be babied and coveted and saved for your grandkids. Given Swatch's unfortunate increase in pricing, its price tag isn't that crazy either. They're not that much more expensive than system and irony and have the Omega style that pushes them over the edge that a regular Omega doesn't have.
Spot on mate..i’ve always seen swatch as a relatively inexpensive brand of disposable fashion watches..this was no different just with omega branding..this was never going to be anywhere near the quality of an omega
You cannot compare this watch to the actual speed master those are two completely different watches. This falls into the category of a wonderful collectible of swatch, that is legitimately by brand and omega watch. I would never compare it to the speed master as far as quality goes, but I do think it’s just as equally valuable from the perspective of brand. not to mention swatch is Such a cool brand. I have the Swiss watch and absolutely love it. Can’t wait to get my Saturn omega swatch.
Yes, I have three Omegas and you cannot compare them to the Swatch. I have worn my Swatch a few times, but it is a novelty watch and nothing more. That is like buying a plastic Rolex and thinking it will be satisfying. I have several Rolexes that I own but never wear.
A month ago (June 2024) I bought the Pagani Design PD1701 V3 Black. It has lost about 1 minute in the month I have owned it and I wear it all the time. Lots of people have told me how smart it looks and I must have a lot of money to 'afford a watch like that'. I could never afford a genuine Omega Seamaster, so for me this is the next best thing, and I love it...........
@@Nick-cs9dt it’s a nice, fun little conversation piece. I either get compliments or people tell me how much they hate. It starts a fun little conversation about my favourite watch called mission to UrAnus.
Fun video, I gave it a like! As someone who started their watch collection journey with Swatch in the 1980s, owning some rather rare pieces (including an unworn 1983 Men's prototype), my journey into collecting has took me to own a Planet Ocean, GMT Master II and various other wonderful timepieces. The closest Swatch store for me? 1,557 Miles or 2505 kilometers). I wanted a Mission to Mercury because I LIKED THE WATCH. They are made to enjoy. Collecting Swatch watches misses the point of ownership to an extent-You wouldn't wear a Speedmaster every day either if you were a factory worker. Enjoyment is the thing missing from ownership and collecting, and these had that balance for me. I will always be careful with most of my watches, but I don't care what it's worth later-I spent the money to enjoy RIGHT NOW. I refuse to regret my purchase, and will continue to enjoy all 67 watches I own...Cheers!
Thats funny bought my first watch in 1983 a Speedmaster cheaper than these swatches, then in 1985 bought the plaid swatch which I still have both. I started my collecting backwards
Spending 200+ dollars on a swatch, and expecting the satisfaction of owning us in the master list, the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s like me, saying I have this one bedroom condominium but I don’t get the satisfaction of having a 20 bedroom mansion.
I didn't personally expect to have satisfaction from it, however there is without a doubt collectors that will. Its an angle to consider, obviously not for you, but for some.
You knew what you were buying and what you were paying. If there is anything wrong it is your decision to buy. If it is just about value for money, everyone should buy a $20 Casio.
I do believe everyone is allowed an opinion on whether the watch is good or not. If this was $80 like most of swatch models I'd say its worth a consideration. But triple that, its a cash grab.
On a side note, I think this was kind of expected. The only reason behind this move for omega and Swatch is to capitalize in an Omega brand with Swatch (or less) quality. It wouldn't make sense to offer a good value for money option and use this marketing, the marketing itself is being used for attracting people to a sub-par watch that needs that name to hold itself. The only reason that I would find for the opposite would be if it was to maybe gain long time user loyalty from new watch buyers buying the moonswatch as their first watch.
... Having just acquired The Mission To The Moon model I'm absolutely blown away with it! Was it / Is it still the hype god knows but OMG when I first opened the box and put it on my wrist it's been a very long time since I've ever felt about a watch in a very very long time! I own a Rolex Sub, BB58 and Tags etc but eventually getting my hands on this silly little plastic watch beats them all hands down just for the novelty reason and exclusivity too! Yes ok I have to baby the Bio ceramic watch I only ever wear it for going out / for best etc. I never have it near water and I don't sleep with it on either. I'm actually that impressed with it so much I've literally just bought the Mission To Mercury one too so I can swap them about and not wear them both out lol. I love the straps as well ok there not the best quality I must admit but the design and function says it all to me. Again for me it's about being different as I've only ever seen one person wear one in Meadowhall. No matter were you go or places you visit Rolex, Tudor and Co are here there and everywhere on people's wrists there gen to a penny this day and age. Now a MoonSwatch is in a complete league of its own just for it's exclusivity reasons? lol
Just bought a moonswatch and after a week of wearing it you are absolutely right. It's already showing scratch marks and degrading rapidly due to the cheap material and poor quality. It's honestly a disappointment when I have $30 watches that have last years.
Yep! Such a shame because it's a really good looking watch! My $10 F91w in baby blue holds up better! I didn't know you was in to watches Jake! I watch your stuff occasionally as I also like to collect pokemon cards :) very cool to have you watching my videos! All the best!
I own a 1861 Speedy. When the Moonswatch was announced, I thought it was brilliant - if I could have got hold of one in the first few months, I would have, no question. As the months went by, my interest faded and I kinda forgot about it. Recently, a friend bought one (the Moon variant), I was quite excited to see it IRL. I have to say, I was really underwhelmed. I'm glad I didn't buy one.
Really? I picked one up today, the swatch store i was walking by had some in stock. Really cool watch, looks great, and is extremely light. Perfect for everyday use, and the speedy is reserved for weekends and special occasions…
Hi mate , to scratch this itch I bought last winter as a Christmas present for myself an Omega Seamaster Polaris quartz 32mm diameter gold dial designed by Gerald Genta , and I love that watch , I payed £150 more than the Moon Swatch was valued at the time . I did not understood what was the craze about this plastic toy , nor now either .
I queued up at the Trafford Centre the other day - there’s an official Swatch pop-up selling them - and I finally got one, Mission to Mars. I’m lucky enough to own a Speedmaster and, whilst it doesn’t compare, the MoonSwatch is a really fun homage. Does it feel like a £218 watch? There are better options in terms of raw value out there, for sure, but I’ll give Swatch credit when it comes to the dial design and quality of the printing. The case profiling and finishing is also really nicely done considering how complex the Speedy shape is.
They're not hard to get in NYC anymore. The stores have random stock. You may not get the color you want, but you'll at least walk out with something. Crazy. We have 3 boutiques in walking distance here. Other major cities, and even modern Western countries, have none.
Yep! We have 3 in London and I believe either 1 or 2 in Scotland. It is rather random how they chose the selected stores. Budapest, the capital of Hungary have 0.
I saw so many comments in various MoonSwatch videos saying to try the PD-1701 v3 from Pagani Designs as an alternative. So I did. My perception is that at $90 that stainless steel option with Seiko VK63 mecaquartz is a much better value. Probably not going to completely scratch the Speedy itch either, but it’s a start!
You do realize a speed master is at least 5K. This is $300. What is the problem? It has a great look and is fun to wear. Also, swatch gives warranty for the parts if it breaks or scratches.
I own a Moonswatch, but I'll never wear it. It's beautiful, but I've heard a thousand stories of its cheapness beforehand. However, I find value in its quirkiness and the willingness of Omega to pair up with a low-end brand like Swatch to create marketing genius. You get what you pay for: marketing, an expensive Swatch, and an Omega as a Happy Meal toy, but the novelty is probably what makes it worth having.
I actually like it, own 3 models, Mars, sun and Venus for the Mrs, the whole marketing of the watch “mission to” part of the “mission”and fun is trying to get hold of one because when you get one you feel slightly accomplished. (Well I did anyway) and then after getting one, the others came around quicker, value for money yeah for an extra £80 you can get a Tissot Prx with sapphire glass, water resistance and steel case.
I paid 400 quid for the Bulova moon watch and it's in a completely ball park from this plastic watch. The quality is superb and the movement is high precision quartz. I would say the Moonswatch should cost no more than GBP 100 - and that's being generous.
@@tecnoChannell It's accurate to no more than 10 seconds a year - and I can verify that! But accuracy is not the reason why I bought it. It's built like a tank and looks great, or at least it does to me.
I’m still going to buy all of them I’m currently missing just two Neptune and the moon, this are just collectible pieces and fun to wear I do believe they will go up in value, but this are just for collection purposes but nothing to take serious,😊obviously they’re better watches out there but this watch like other is not for everybody.
I have the mission to Uranas moonswatch and I was forreal disappointed once I had it on my wrist. I dont like the strap so I bought a white silicone strap and replaced it. I live in philly and the king of Prussia mall had a swatch store so i was in luck to have quick assess to a store. The only thing is they only had limited options to pick from so I went with uranas. The hype behind it really died once I got home. It's cool to wear when I'm on vacation because I wear brighter colors to match the watch but the hype died quick. I paid $240 for a plastic watch that's not a real speed master. I get it, its a swatch and not omega but my expectations were a lil high. Also, it's funny they call it a collab between swatch and omega when the swatch group owns omega lol
It is a low cost sort of replica of the real Speedmaster. The quality level is not near to that of a Casio G-Shock in the same price range even though a Casio G-Shock does not look like this. The Casio is in a metalized composite type case with a mineral glass. Omega should have done a better job on this watch for the money charged, or maybe charge a bit more for better quality. I have an original Speedmaster Mark II professional I bought in 1974. It is the version with the sapphire crystal. I get it maintained every 5 years or so by the local Omega service. It looks like new and runs like new. Back in 1974, I paid over $1200 CDN for it. Great watch! About 7 years ago I bought myself the Omega Planet Ocean. Another great watch! Easy to read, and it's terrific. I put it a NATO strap on it. For regular wearing when doing work around the home or being physically active I some Casio G-Shocks that I wear. Right now I am wearing the GWG-2000 Casio watch. I also have some other high end G-Shock watches. I like the solar versions. No battery to worry about.
If you got one of these thinking it would come close to the Speedmaster, you’re not smart. But if you bought this as an investment looking for a big return on the back end, that’s where this watch sits. Either a really good Swatch you keep, or an investment to capitalize on.
I was planning on buying a 6K Omega watch, but seeing their name on a cheap watch has really put me off. I think teaming up with Swatch was bad for Omega but good for Swatch. I can't be the only one who has completely changed their mind about Omega now. People will now think I'm wearing a cheap watch.
I'm not into quartz watches, but if I were, I think that I would much prefer the Bulova Lunar Pilot. I predict that the future value of these will reflect that they are plastic and disposable.
I'm sorry but your points are at the same time valid and silly. I don't think anyone who knows a little about watches exptected this watch to "replace Speed master". We all know what to expect from Swatch watches. Omega brings to this colaboration their logo and Speedmaster design. Swatch brings cheap quartz platform. I think for anyone who likes Speedmaster and legacy that comes with Omega logo, the retail price is perfect. I would not pay for it 500$ which seems to be regular price online these days. But if you can get it at retail value. It's great. Your videos about the alternatives are pointless because there is no alternative for this colab. There are loads of different chronograph watches for sure. Actual Bulova moon watch (if you have a hand for it). But that's not the point. I don't think anyone who is interested in buying this is looking for a chronograph. They are looking for this chronograph. Despite all yoru shitting on it. You can't deny that it looks freaking awesome 3:232:49. And that look is pretty much synonymous with Omega speedmaster.
It's a novelty. I found the strap awkward. The buckle part of the strap is at 6 o'clock. Other watches I have/seen with athletic velcro straps have that part at 12 o'clock. 🤷🏽♀️
I have the Mission to Moon swatch. I purchased it because it has a sentimental pull to me, my grandfather gave me a Moon Watch when I graduated, and many years ago my house was robbed and the watch was taken. Will I purchase another Moon Watch yes, do I love the Moon Swatch, yes, for what it is. I find it a fun collectible that has a funny story with some sentimental pull to me, but I can admit, it’s not for everyone.
My problem with it, is that it gets scratched very quickly. Although I do know that we are essentially paying for the design and I do love the design very much for an everyday watch. I wish they made it automatic like the Blancpain.
You have to understand that Omega comes under the Swatch Group umbrella, so in actuality the Swatch brand is higher tier and more luxurious than Omega. I don't get why most people can't grasp that fact.
Hmm, you are right. I just send 210 CHF an a Seiko 5. That ist roughly 230 USD. That's my first automatic. I think my money is better spent in Japan in this regard.
I finally got a "Mission to the Moon" Moonswatch today. I'll keep it in it's box and carry on wearing the copy that I bought a year ago. The copy is better made & has a superior movement.
It’s all about design. That’s the point of it. For that reason it’s very satisfying. £6500 is what you’d pay to get the same design. £218 is a bargain.
Lol! If it's all about the design, why not get a knockoff Speedmaster for the £218? It looks exactly the same as the real one and probably fitted with a decent ETA or Sellita movement, unlike this piece of bologna.
You can buy a swatch steel irony for $100. A seiko snxs79 for $100. A Tissot couturier for $250. Etc. The moonswatch is a happy meal toy. Its a beanie baby for men.
I got the mission to mars and enjoy wearing it. It turns heads for sure. You are paying for the speedmaster design. I really don't think people are buying this to scratch their speedmaster itch. They pretty much know what they are getting into. It's just another line of swatch collections. I've always enjoyed swatch watches and it's just another I want to add to my collection.
Exactly! Everybody knows what swatch is and what omega is.... and if you have common sense....you will not expect having an Omega quality with this collaboration...what you are paying for 250USD is the omega badge and speedmaster design.... I always wanted to have one but it's annoying that it's hard to buy one.... production is so limited as well as the official distributors.
Due to a skin allergy I could only wear a silicon skin swatch or Apple i-Watch for a few years. I quickly realised that Swatches are great...as long as you don't wear them. After regular use for 3 months they're ready for the bin. All the watch-tubers were unfamiliar with this, not having owned a Swatch before.
I don't understand why the moonswatch is considered to be fragile? It's just like any other swatch, which are plenty durable and can be worn for years under normal conditions.
Good review and I would agree, €200 of hype for a €60 watch which probably won't last in one piece more than a single battery use. In 10 years mint versions might well be worth a small fortune ...but then you are gambling on the plastic not degrading!
So i got it (mission to saturn). But i only got it because Im an engineering student with a passion for the space industry, and I personally love the idea and the watch. Non of the value things really matter more to me.
Was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, I picked up 3 for myself and 2 for a buddy that has +$10k watches. We both love them and recognize what they are. They look great, especially with different straps. They are fun to wear and anybody who knows watches will know they aren’t real Speedmasters. The case is ceramic, not plastic.
Yep. Keep digging their marketing scheme. This joke of a watch is made out of "Bioceramic" which is composed of ceramic particles in a polymer (plastic) matrix. It's nothing but an injected molded plastic case filled with a ceramic additive = PLASTIC.
@@turtlemonkeigh5950 I was able to pick up Sun, Earth (for my buddy), Mars, Uranus and Pluto (for myself). Their stock varies on what they get in, they said they don't see the darker ones (Mercury, Jupiter & Moon) as often. I went to the NYNY store as it was closest to my hotel, but I've heard Fashion Show mall also gets some. You can also only get one per person per day at each location (employees said they care monitored by camera), so bring a friend if you want to get more than one per trip. I would suggest calling around 11:30 to both locations and see what they have in stock. The first day I was in there, 3-4 other people came in at the same time and bought watches, so they sell out daily, but they also receive daily shipments.
@@turtlemonkeigh5950 I went on a Euro trip a few months ago. It became a game for my wife and I to go to every Swatch store we saw to see what models they had. I think we went to 5 stores, including ones that were in airports. I bought an Earth and she has a Saturn. In every place we went, not a single Moon was to be found. We are convinced there is some insider trading type thing going on where no regular people actually have a chance at getting a Moon. They just take them all and sell them online for a huge markup. One of the workers told me they get like 1-3 Moons per day and they are gone within the first hour.....every...single....day...like wtf. You have to have a plane ticket to go to the stores in the airports and yet they were always sold out. weird.
After a tip from a friend I just got the last Moon version they had in the local store yesterdat - at least at the moment don't know if they'll get more. Hope they'll discontinue them soon. But I got no intentions of wearing it. Bought it purely as a collectors item. I also got a Rolex Kermit like 15 years ago - very minimally I've worn it. Though I work in an office I don't like wearing too expensive watches and not too cheap. For decades my daily drivers has been Casio radio controlled - the last in titanium and sapphire. I want my watches to be functional and hassle free. I often find cheap quartz to swim too much over a year when you're dependent on public transport for work. Mechanicals are sure not precise enough to my taste. Got a few other mechanicals as well but they're abot collectors items as well except perhaps for a special occasion. These days my daily watch is Samsung Watch. Sure there's the hassle of charging but accurate thanks to network synchronisation and it comes with added benefits that traditional watches don't - perfect for office use. But yeah. Plastics is not a great material for watches. Steel, titanium, real ceramics and/or tungsten carbide (actually also a ceramic) is the way to go. Had they only made the moon version in steel (same movement etc. just a steel case) it would have been really awesome.
The bezel is also very fragile, my son had one for 25 days, worn very carefully, bezel snapped off. Swatch to their credit recognised the problem and replaced it, but I think it's not worth the £
@@TopTierTicker there is a 1mm gap between the lip of bezel and the case but it's enough that if you jar it on the wrong angle the whole thing shatters off. Nice design and idea, wrong material.
I got 2 from the Swatch store had them 6 months now....The prices online were awful. I paid £220 for each of them. I actually wear them more than my actual Seamaster. Its an everyday watch. Nice and light, I especially like it as a summer watch. I got a NATO strap for it as well. Overall great watch. Price Range it is what it is..I dont think its too bad. They also do a Blancpin colab too which is nice. Personally I like them and just take them for being what they are. Its a SWATCH x OMEGA not an OMEGA X SWATCH
Is funny hearing someone complain that a Swatch store is 200 miles away. In Perth Australia, the nearest store was over 2000km away... in another country. 😂 In the end I got one at retail. It's a Swatch-made Speedmaster and if people keep that in perspective, it makes sense. It's construction is in keeping with what Swatch has always done, and the dial details are actually better than what they usually do. It's great fun for when I don't wear my Seamaster 300 Heritage or Speedmaster 1957 Trilogy.
I love the moonSwatch. I bought an Orient neo 70 cause I can't afford a rolex daytona. Is the movement compareable? Nooooo! I care about a great looking dial and a decent movement. The moonswatch has a decent swatch movement, it keeps time and it dies it accurately. The loud ticking is nostalgic to me. I remember being in class taking tests and hearing my swatch watch tick. I loved it. It's nice to hear it again. If you are going to own a swatch, at least just one. Get this one. Take care of it. Some superstar is bound to wear it and make it worth $$$$ and if that doesn't happen, you still have a piece of history.
Its not an Omega. Its market hype for people who want the look of a Speedy. Buy a Pagani Moonwatch for 100 pounds and it will give you the look. Failing that, go for the Bulova Lunar Pilot. I did and its a great watch - even though its a big bigger than any Speedy.
This is a great video and thank you for uploading it, but on the other side of the coin, I actually enjoy the mission mars red/white. I also have a Breitling super avenger night mission, Breitling emergency 2 and I also have a Richard Millie watch, yes an authentic one. You have to take each piece for what they are. My moon swatch is just a fun piece that I enjoy doing casual things around the city. I owned a swatch when I was a kid in the 80s, it was my first “real watch”.
We were in London last week and happened to pass the Swatch store. There was a poor woman standing next to the Moonswatch display case telling people they weren't in stock. Frankly I was shocked at how they looked in the case, very disappointing. There were much nicer watches in the store for £100 less.
Bang on with that mate. I was looking around the swatch store I went in and saw a good 10 watches that presented better value and quite frankly looked better too. The biggest hype watch of 2022 is offering the least for the cash. Thanks for watching and commenting mate 💪
Why should anyone expect Omega quality?! It's a swatch! A damn good looking Swatch! I had and have Swatches since my childhood. My latest one is 19 yo,.and still in perfect condition! Ok, I had to polywatch polishing it ones after a bike accident, but that's all. The retail price of these beauties not that bad! Sure, you can find many better options for 260€, but not even one which gives you this damn good looking moonwatch style. Pagani's logo looks awful IMO, this is not an Omega copy, it's an 1:1 moonwatch with Swatch's funky way! These watches will be remembered! The other copycats won't. "It doesn't give me the satisfaction of owning a speedmaster" Yeah, that's the problem, you had way too high expectations! Not any other watch will give you that satisfaction.
Damn. I thought this watch would be a way to slightly satisfy my need for a speed master. Thanks for the honesty. I’m relatively new to horology, everything seems catered around being extremely wealthy, we (I) need some sub £500 recommendations.
The number of units is too high for good value performance. Unless many break, but most people don't wear the moonswatches anyway. When the hype is over, most of them are sold again.
I was in a trip to New York decided to buy one. After a few failed attempts because it was sold out I finally found one. I tried on my wrist and immediately saved $270. It's just too light, too plastic, too cheap for this price. The spell from seeing it on nice videos on UA-cam was broken. I had watches when I was a kid that felt better than that. I'm glad there is a market for it but it was not for me.
As an owner of 3 Omega watches (Sea Master 300M, Sea Master 300M Chrono, and Speed Master) this not an Omega. It's a Swatch. It's good for what it is but don't try to pass it as an Omega.
Aesthetics bro! Ppl buy them because they look good, simple. No one’s going this deep into it, if they like how it looks, they purchase it. Being willing to pay 6-8k for a stainless steel one that looks exactly the same to most ppl who probably don’t know the difference anyway is weird lol
My first serious watch was a kinetic Seiko Premier Chronograph, than i became a watch enthusiast and started hating quartz watches, i gave my kinetic Seiko wach to my brother. Now i have more than 40 mechanical watches in my collection after 15 years. Now after these 15 years, i bought a quartz watch again, Moonswatch Mission to Mars. I am loving and enjoying it a lot, a real fun watch, this enjoyment i have worths every penny i gave it. Now i am planning to buy some other Moonswatch models, too. I also consider buying the quartz Tissot PRX Mint now, i miss my kinetic Seiko, but happy my brother loves it :)
I have 4 of the poxy things because I like the concept but I was blind. 250 bucks a pop is insane. For that grand I could have got a decent Hamilton or TAG. Could still sell them at a 20% profit but the hassle is too much.
He said he did not pay a premium for moonswatch, where the hype is a serious point of the marketing. Like anything, go into such a purchase with proper expectations.
Thanks man! I think I’m over the moon swatch. I was planning on trying to purchase one on an upcoming trip to Germany but I rather put my money towards something else. I owned an Omega dynamic years ago and sold it, should have kept that one
The Moonswatch is tremendous value for the money & I am an Omega Speedmaster fan-boy with several Omega Speedmasters, ceramic models, steel Sapphire Moonwatch, cal 3861, 321 etc - and I like this Moonswatch. Keep in mind. A Rolex Datejust costs about $950 to manufacture, including real estate, materials, labor, assets, cost of capital, sales distribution and marketing costs - but yet they sell for $9,000+. To use your comment, you can get other automatic, steel date watches for 1/10th the price….it’s the NAME & the Story you’re also buying…
I completely agree and get what you're saying. I do think however there has to be a minimum standard here. The thing is built like a toy. I'd be surprised if this thing cost more than $20 to make.
Just got a neptune for the fun blast of blue [get many compliments on it]. I chose a fun color as opposed to accquiring the moon and or mercury color for when I actually buy a speedmaster professional. ⌚️ Aside// Kids like it more than my hulk or batman rolex watches 😂
I bought one for each of my daughters, who could care less about watches. But it’s something for them to remember me by. My son will get the real speedmaster.
I did own an original speedmaster, but constantly worried about theft and damage so I sold it on regrettably, the moonswatch well I’m not paying £200 + on a plastic toy, instead I bought a pagani speedy lookalike £90 makes a moonswatch look like a waste of money.
If you own a real Speedmaster professional (which I do) then also owning an Omega x Swatch is just a bit of fun. Plus if I'm on a beach, gym or plan a heavy night out 🍻. I'd rather a Swatch on my wrist. Hence I just purchased Mission to the moon. It obviously doesn't compare. But as I said ... It's just a bit of fun.
You can get a Pagani PD-1701 that is made of 316L stainless steel, has a real sapphire crystal, actually LOOKS like a Speedy, has a Seiko VK63 mechaquartz chronograph movement and costs ~$100. Wearing a Moonswatch, to me, is like wearing a sign that says "I'm an idiot!".
He could not be more wrong about the moonswatch...Anyone lucky enough to buy the first batch with a reasonable head on their shoulders should and rightfully so be very proud to wear this swatch. Let me remind you, that you can count on 1 finger, how many times a Luxury brand has ever collaborated with a fashion brand. These watches, have already gone down in history and has made a significant impact not just in the watch world but in the world of marketing and commercial possibilities. And don't forget Swatch from the very beginning positioned themselves not to replace your watch but to add and or compliment your watch. It's even in their name Swatch...the S stands for Second watch?!!!
I was expecting the bio ceramic to be some sort of harder plastic, but finally saw one in person and was surprised it’s a cheap plastic watch on a cheap Velcro strap. In Canada they’re $400, I’d rather buy a good Gshock from Japan.
At least you paid retail price. It was possible to manufacture a better watch for a few more cents, but it seems the Swatch group wanted max profits as cheap as possible.
Exactly that. I only learned today that the movement has a ghost date position on the crown. A multi million dollar company cutting corners like that 😂
I like it and I want one. Plenty of other people still want one so that means I can't buy one so I've put it out of my mind. Someday, maybe years in the future, if it actually becomes available for me to buy one I might buy one, or I might be over it by then. I won't pay over MSRP for it, I won't buy it from a scalper on the internet. Yes you can buy less expensive chronographs, even the Pagani that looks very much like the steel moonwatch and I have bought one of those. So I'll have to wait to see what happens in the future.
I wonder if you could take one of these watches and just use the dial on another, like the Swatch 007 Goldfinger and then you would have a nice "gold" case! Call it the sunswatch.
Comparing this swatch with the 20X price Moonwatch, is pointless. Coparing it to other cheap watch (including Swatch's) pointless too. The intelligent buyer buys this, NOT to have a "cheap" copy of a Speedy Moonwatch, or to have a cheap watch to tell time. Many (myself included) buy them to have the item itself, and agreed to pay the price accordingly. That's why many of us patiently waited many many months, to see the dumb hype decrease, and buy them at the correct retail price.
If I've convinced you to not get a Moonswatch, check out my video here on the best MoonSwatch alternatives - ua-cam.com/video/-UgrIxE9AGo/v-deo.html
@@TopTierTicker I can agree with that opinion!
Right. Some of us could never justify the cost of a genuine omega. How is it holding up? Do you feel it is as fragile as stated here?
@@michaelFat2112 I have it on right now! It has a few scuffs on the face (I need to polish it I guess) but the band and case look just fine. Keeps time well and is super comfortable.
@@michaelFat2112 so no, I don’t think it’s nearly as fragile as this video would imply. It’s taken a beating and is still ticking.

@@jerrywallop5647 Correct. Keep going, you're almost there.
Exactly. Picked the moon version up, since i was near the swatch store, they had them in stock. Nobody would mistake this thing for my speedy, but it’s a goid looking, extremely light watch for everyday use. I’m quite happy with it, i absolutely would buy it again.
It's not even a good swatch, it seems like the build quality is not up to standard for the best swatch watches.
"will be discontinued in a year or so"
7 months later still no chance to find the moon version and still everyone loves it
It looks like they're taking the success and running with it. I wouldn't be surprised now to see them make a 'special edition' every 6 moths for the next 10 years, unfortunately.
@@TopTierTicker yea they have no reason to stop now
So a year later…
So what? It's still too expensive.
@@tancreddehauteville764 all watches are too expensive. Just buy a 20 dollar Casio.
Bizzare statement.
Spot on mate..i’ve always seen swatch as a relatively inexpensive brand of disposable fashion watches..this was no different just with omega branding..this was never going to be anywhere near the quality of an omega
@@tancreddehauteville764 Said the one that owns a 50$ phone but paid 1k+ for it. Peasant.
@@ch_boki WTF do you mean?
You cannot compare this watch to the actual speed master those are two completely different watches. This falls into the category of a wonderful collectible of swatch, that is legitimately by brand and omega watch. I would never compare it to the speed master as far as quality goes, but I do think it’s just as equally valuable from the perspective of brand. not to mention swatch is Such a cool brand. I have the Swiss watch and absolutely love it. Can’t wait to get my Saturn omega swatch.
I was just hoping for some omega quality/value for money which it was neither
@@zach6210xFor only 270, you're not getting that.
I wore it and got a ton of compliments, and after replacing the band, thoroughly enjoy it as a fun little watch.
What is fun about it?
Actually I bought both watches cheaper than the $260.
@@erebostd Yeah, they're nice enough, but I have enough beaters that I really like. I just don't think they're worth the price point.
This is how I’ve seen the MoonSwatch. A fun homage, official homage.
Is that pop up long term? I live close
There's a v4. The date window on the 4 oclock position has been removed. Only con v4 is only available on certain colors.

You do realize a speed master is at least 5K. This is $300. What is the problem? It has a great look and is fun to wear. Also, swatch gives warranty for the parts if it breaks or scratches.
I agree it s above good for the price
I have a Tissot PRC 200 and it's a quality watch, would love a Speedmaster in time but Swatch will do for now.
Well Tissot TRX cost 700 € when Moonswatch cost 280 € , difference in price is match bigger then 80

I paid 400 quid for the Bulova moon watch and it's in a completely ball park from this plastic watch. The quality is superb and the movement is high precision quartz. I would say the Moonswatch should cost no more than GBP 100 - and that's being generous.
Love my Bulova Moon watch.
What is the monthly or year time shift for this watch?
@@tecnoChannell ???
@@tancreddehauteville764 bruh... The time shift. How many seconds of error it has after one month :/ I am asking because it uses a 262kHz quartz
@@tecnoChannell It's accurate to no more than 10 seconds a year - and I can verify that! But accuracy is not the reason why I bought it. It's built like a tank and looks great, or at least it does to me.

Now they have the snoopy black and white.
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of AMZWATCH's watch 99% of people will never see.
I predict that the future value of these will reflect that they are plastic and disposable.
what is the movement ? can it be serviced. THis is one of many reviews / overviews but noone tells you anything about the watch. Or very little
I'm sorry but your points are at the same time valid and silly.
You can't deny that it looks freaking awesome 3:23 2:49. And that look is pretty much synonymous with Omega speedmaster.
It's a novelty.
I found the strap awkward. The buckle part of the strap is at 6 o'clock. Other watches I have/seen with athletic velcro straps have that part at 12 o'clock. 🤷🏽♀️
Dude it’s not an omega. It’s a swatch with a colab with omega. It’s a great watch for the price. It’s a fun piece
Sentimental value trumps anything. You cannot put a price on that I hope you enjoy the watch my friend and wishing you the best for 2023 🙏
My problem with it, is that it gets scratched very quickly.
LOL!

Well done mate! 👌

I actually bought a real speedmaster after wearing this for a while. I still have the Mars one, it's my red shirt watch :)
I would always choose this than the apple watch

Thanks Michael. I honestly think you'd get better value for money in any of my picks in that video than you get in the MoonSwatch!
I will be going to Vegas in July excited to pick up sun mars and hopefully Jupiter which colors did you get? And we’re they sold out if any?
Love mine. I have saturn. I dont recall buying it fir it being a Speedmaster, i bought it because i like it and its fun.
The bezel is also very fragile, my son had one for 25 days, worn very carefully, bezel snapped off. Swatch to their credit recognised the problem and replaced it, but I think it's not worth the £

I bought the Pluto as well, after 7 hours of cue in Belgrade, Serbia. I also did not feel the Speedmaster vibe, so I bought a Speedmaster after that 😁
Very nice!
I'm debating grabbing one and case swapping it. I cannot justify spending 5k or more on a speedmaster.
You’re missing the point here. From an Omega AND Moonswatch owner. I wear the Moonswatch allot as daily driver. On a Nato strap that is.
Thanks for watching and commenting mate 💪
what’s a poor woman?
@@Sexiestmanalive01 One without a man to pay for all her shit.
imagine if Omega released these colors in their Speedmaster professional range! I would buy one for sure.
Also, and this may be stating the obvious, but the only watch that's going to give you the feeling of wearing a Speedmaster, is a Speedmaster...
You nailed it!
I have an Omega Speedmaster but bought the Speedmaster Swatch just to have a novelty watch in my collection.
Nice video for your ticks… but you admit it’s cool… nuff said… I have 3 love them and my Omega 300m too.
Unpopular Opinion: I love my jupiter. I get mad compliments on it too.
Disagree totally ! It’s a Swatch ! I have several good ones ( Rolex , IWC,etc.) and I love to use it .
Own or have owned Tudor, Rolex GMT ii, Baumé and Mercier, Maurice laCroix, just bought three versions of this for the looks!!
Thank you, will just purchase a pagani instead
That's a very wholesome story. Thanks for sharing.
I own a Tissot PRX quartz in the original green and it's an absolutely lovely piece of kit.
If you know someone inside the company, you'll do a slow clap with their ingenuity. People got hyped on a watch that cost US$38 to manufacture. 😅😅😅
Hats off to them tbh! 😂
Cause Rolex cost 50k to manufactur 😂😂😂
Aside// Kids like it more than my hulk or batman rolex watches 😂
I bought one for each of my daughters, who could care less about watches. But it’s something for them to remember me by. My son will get the real speedmaster.
Haha why the big price gap? :D
Doesn’t look bad for a price tag maybe 55$ ?
I did own an original speedmaster, but constantly worried about theft and damage so I sold it on regrettably, the moonswatch well I’m not paying £200 + on a plastic toy, instead I bought a pagani speedy lookalike £90 makes a moonswatch look like a waste of money.
Not an Omega, swatch bought over Omega and now trying to marry the 2 brands. It is like James Bond marrying Katie Price.
This is a Speedmaster homage made by the owners of Omega. The concept is sort of acceptable, but very weirdly executed.
For £300 you can get a really decent automatic Omega speed master replica in UK just know what markets to go to.
Completely misses the mark of the collab - democratizing the moonswatch look into a swatch is a great thing and great for the industry
At least you paid retail price. It was possible to manufacture a better watch for a few more cents, but it seems the Swatch group wanted max profits as cheap as possible.
Exactly that. I only learned today that the movement has a ghost date position on the crown. A multi million dollar company cutting corners like that 😂
@@TopTierTicker Definitely made in China at
I like it and I want one.
You'll get one I'm sure. The watch is good as an occasional wear bit of fun.
Was concerned about the quality issues so bought a fake of aliexpress. My mate has a real one and my cheaper is better quality and a better strap.
