I was going to buy ipad almost year ago but changed my mind for some reason. Later I didn't have extra money for things like tablet. And few weeks ago I decided to finally buy a tablet. There was two options. One plus pad or pixel tablet. There was some issues with ordering OnePlus so I bought Pixel Tablet. To be honest, I'm very satisfied. No regrets at all. Such a great product for it's price.
As a deeply entrenched Google user who has all the speakers and displays, this is perfect for me and just what I want. I hardly ever use my tablet and my Nest Hub Max is sat about a foot away from my sofa. Being able to use the tablet every now and again but the rest of the time it's a home hub is perfect.

Hi Chris, love your reviews, even when they're for something I have no real interest in buying. Your videos are half solid tech review, half great entertainment. One of your hallmarks is showing snippets of movies or TV shows when describing a device's display specs. I'm always intrigued by what's on the screen. Any chance you could list these clips in your descriptions? Or does that raise possible copyright/IP issues? Cause I really want to know what the hell that cheerleader was doing in the church and why?
Really wanted to like this, just cant see past the Uk price through unfortunately, £600 for an 11inch, non LTE tablet just seems very expensive, I believe this is $499 in the US, which equates to £391, however, the £599 that we have to pay in the UK equates to $763 USD, absolute rip off
Agreed, and as well as having ports on the thing for various things, google could have made,it a smart speaker when the tablet is not in range , that would have made it a killer buy , alas , yet another lost opportunity to sell units and give the customer real value.
Amazing video as usual , I think pixel products are expensive only for now.. just wait for less than a year, then discounts will come out and you will end up paying almost half the price
Great review Chris, appreciate the criticism, I have a Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook which seems like a much better deal. It has a 13 inch Oled Screen, good performanc, all day battery life and then some, and a really excellent keyboard that is included. It's also the same price as this tablet.
I've been having trouble with my assistant too. It never understands when I ask it to turn on my lights. I have to go into the home app everytime to do it manually 😡🤬
using an controller and the dock at the same time for gaming... this could be a gaming beast, i hope they use 120hz and a snapdragon chip for the pixel tab gen 2 to make it the performance beast we deserve!
No way they will use snapdragon. It's google's brand and cost cutting to use their own hardware. 120hz yeah I can see in a gen 2. What I see this being ideal in is using it as a supplement in streaming set ups like those stream deck apps instead of ponying up the cash for an elgato setup.
Seems a bit overpriced. Output to TV would be important to me, especially when travelling. The Smart Dock for me would be competing with my Bluetooth speakers, so not sure if it'd be close to the quality of Bose or JBL
There are a few misses with this. 1. You can’t use it as a camera Like the nest hub Max despite it having a front camera. 2. When someone rings the google doorbell it doesn’t bring up the live video automatically. 3. As you mentioned, the google home requests take you to web pages instead of doing what you asked.
I’m sure that most of your subscribers will share my thoughts on you being a very reliable source of tech news and a very opinionated, knowledgeable person but for me, personally, you’re, above all, a dishy Daddy ❤ cheers! 🍻
This seemed like a great idea during the Google IO but in typical Google fashion they half arsed it again. Unfortunately even with the dock included, it just doesn't appeal enough. Now that the reviews are out it just further confirms that is indeed way overpriced. What's with the £599?? US pricing is $399 and I'd say that is too expensive and Google seem to be purposely setting their new devices up to fail. Every one of your points was spot on, all this device is telling us is they could have done much better in both hardware and software, but chose not to. Also I'd strongly agree that Google Assistant has gone downhill lately. I've noticed this on my phones over the past few years. Made by Google is supposed to be the ultimate experience and a reference point for other manufacturers to aim towards, but in reality each new device and software update shows they have really gone off track. I find myself shouting at my devices because they either don't respond or just do the completely wrong thing. I'm actually at the point where I just don't bother with the assistant any more and have disabled the discover feed on my pixel. The price/specs of this tablet plus the Pixel fold are really pushing me away now and I would have considered buying both.
Great content Chris, can you do a like for like comparison for google pixel v tab s9 fe please. On the fence with this one and both similarly priced. Keep up the great work

Visitor announcements don't work on this tablet with nest doorbell despite that feature being in their ads! I've been told by Google support the feature was removed before launch and is being worked on... sigh!
I've got a nest hub on my night stand and before I sleep, I put some Netflix content on it and it's fine but a bit too small as expected on such a little screen. In the past I had a Galaxy Tab S7 that I should never have sold. Anyway, I findthe Pixel tablet to be a good replacement for both my Nest hub and my beloved Tab S7. I tried the Pixel tablet in a store and it was fine, maybe the 60hz display is not the smoothest but it works fine for surfing the web, watching Netflix and YT, typing some emails. The thing is, I doubt it's got an always-on function to work as a clock while it's on its stand and second of all, it is quite expensive. And clearly, the fact that the charging speed while plugged to a socket (not on a stand) is taking its sweet time to fuel up could be an issue. But I like that Google brings an innovative solution to people looking for a reliable tablet that has 2 use cases.
