    You should be able to charge the battery with the jst 2.0 just using the balance plug on the battery with a normal charger

    • @BigSungHobbies

      That works, but there were several reasons for going this route for me. 1) I needed longer cable 2) I did not like to plug and unplug from ESC port all the time 3) It opens up different battery options , and 4) I would like to see the actual voltage using the balance port.

    The connector is called JST SYP, not JST SIP. Also, you can improve your videos by showing the name of parts so people can read the item names. This will improve your videos because your audience can pause the video and search for the parts.
    This makes it easier for them instead of going back in the video to listen for what you a said. It's better ergonomics.
    It would be helpful for you to reference a link to these connectors in your video descriptions.

    As a complete newbie to RCs, thank you!!! I just ordered an SCX24 as well as this charger. Still waiting for shipping. Can you tell me what's included with this charger? I see you have a thing for the balance port. Is that included? If not, where do I find one that fits this charger? Also, that pig tail you have. What is it called? I don't even know what kind of connector this charger uses.

    I already have a 1500mah 2s from an Others Car. Can the Stock ESC Form the scx24 handle it or is it to much?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  2 роки тому +1

      As long as it’s 2s, the stock ESC will handle it. But few things to consider. 1) the weight. 1500mAh will be way too heavy for scx24. 2) The long runtime might not be good for stock motor. The motor is not heavy duty.

  • @taylor22222222

    I was thinking I needed to do something like this. I'm just worried about splicing wires on the battery. If it wasn't my only battery I'd give it, but I don't know. Great idea though...I was wondering how people used jst connectors on these scx24.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  2 роки тому +1

      As long as you work on one wire at a time, you will never have issue. You just need to avoid crossing the wires. If you still feel uncomfortable, you can always buy a 2nd battery with JST connector.

    • @taylor22222222

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  2 роки тому

      Just take your time. And make sure, you cut one wire first...doesn't matter black or red, and don't forget to insert heat shrink before you solder the wire. Once you have that done, then cut the other wire. NEVER try to cut both wires at the same time!

    I have a question you soldered The male connector to the battery, my question is there’s two bear aluminum pieces on the outside of the plug if a piece of metal touch that would shorted out

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  3 роки тому

      The JST SYP connector comes like that. The metal leads are recessed a bit. It's the same with stock connector or even XT30 connectors. They all have some recession on it, but the two leads are all exposed, so need to be careful.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  2 роки тому

      Theoretically there is no limit, but due to overall weight of the SCX24, there is going to be diminishing return. I find I like 450mAh on mine, but I have seen others go opposite by going with much smaller for weight savings.

    Was wondering if these crawlers are reliable overall long term? Lots of parts replacements or not a problem?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  3 роки тому +3

      Like any RTR, the stock servo usually does not last. I upgraded to an Emax servo right away, and I have not had any issues. I do hear that the stock motor doesn't last and should be changed, but I am still running the stock motor without any issues. A big mistake that most people do is add tons of weight. My build philosophy is see if you can shift things around and add weight only where needed to get to 60% front / 40% rear weight distribution. I have had mine for few months without any replacement parts.
