That's probably one of the cleanest boats that you have ever shown. The layout definitely gives the impression of great space despite the size of the boat. It could use a few upgrades though ... the grill that you mentioned, but I'd like to see some more solar for some more creature comforts like refrigeration and and electric water pump. When you go to all of the trouble of such an extensive refit, i guess i just don't understand stopping just short of the finish line. I'm sure that it won't last long on the market up there, it is perfect for a family starting out! Keep up the great work!
Tomatoe , tomatoe, who cares if you say sole floor or sole, you’re fine . You guys are crushing these reviews. Love your content. There’s always going to be haters. No one is perfect.
So glad you did a Sabre 28. I was looking forward to seeing one in person this year, but there's no Sabre in my marina. Thinking of a Sabre when I upgrade from my Seafarer 26. So glad your my height, easy to get a feel of the boat. Very nice example, thanks guys.
You bet! Yes, very cool boats. So solid feeling, and a surprising amount of room. There are a few up here for sale. This one was definitely the nicest. The 30 is also fantastic. Thanks, as always, for your comments!
Well the boat looks great, but you lost me at Atomic 4. Given all the other work that was done you have to wonder why rebuild the A-4? Other than that a very nice looking boat. There is a nice starter boat for sale over here in Southwest Harbor. A Morris 30. A little more money, but It IS a Morris.
The nice thing about a gasoline engine with a carburetor is that with a little know how and a very few tools and a couple of spare parts it will almost always get you home. Diesel, not so much.
Love that Sabre! Yes, that engine access is pretty snug --- I guess removing the engine would be through the cabin. Since I live 3,000 miles away, visiting it would be a stretch for me. 🙃😀
While this Sabre is too far for you, we did learn that another piece comes out giving much better access to the engine. FYI, in case you see one for sale in your neck of the woods.
Why would you have the turning blocks attached to padeyes on the cabin top on a deck stepped mast. It's so easy to add a deck plate and avoid holes and stressing the cabin top.
That blower would clear out monoxide and dioxide fumes after cooking or using lamps . Be handy linked to an aftermarket smoke and gas detector. Whats the hp rating of one of those A4s?
I have a Sabre 28 that is not as nice as this one. I am amazed when I look at the transom how it sits out of the water as mine is definitely aft heavy with my Volvo Diesel in it. I have the wheel, but the boat really does want a tiller. The only thing I really dislike about the boat is engine access. I am a big guy and fitting into that lazerette is impossible. I have the shoal keel version, and it does not point very well without the internal tracks. She is a tender boat and I often need to reef at 15 knots. As nicely maintained and dry bilge boat, she seems overpriced for a boat that old. BTW offset props are insanely hard to back into a slip. I constantly worry about hooking a crab pot. They are well made boats.
It's really difficult to tell. I believe the Mark II came out the same year this was manufactured, but the Mark II definitely has a different port configuration... But I hear our on the cockpit config for the wheel as I always thought the cockpit seats in the Mark I went straight back. A mystery! Thanks for watching!
This is the mark I or series I. I own a Sabre 28 mark II. The mark I, only came with an Atomic 4. Also, there is just one large window on either side of the main cabin, where the mark II and III have two smaller windows on either side. The mark III has a higher aspect rig and mid boom sheeting. Those are the easy ways to identify between the versions. I think the mark III has a slightly deeper draft, too.
Heck you could sale all round The British isles on that and Europe.. folks have and are doing it... On a lot worse. You will also find some folks dneaking across the Adlantic .. And dont forget guys like James Sailing Trita. Doing the world. On a small older boat.
Considering the age and the fact that the last refit was about a decade ago, I feel that the price is not enough to even make me look twice. I'm about diesel power and a sugarscoop of some sort. I'm just too old to work on my boat.
See those Canadians are smart, they have engines! But then again I hear they have more heart attacks so who knows which is better.🙃 But seriously this looks like a new boat. Just a couple of questions: 1. is it cored? If so foam or balsa? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW did you guys go to the Newport show and did you run into Ran-Day? Keep the good stuff coming guys.
That’s why Ken doesn’t row! The deck is cored with balsa. Hull is solid fiberglass. We didn’t attend the Newport Boat Show. Maybe next year… Did you go?
@@boatfools No I live in Michigan. I just saw that Ran-day from Captain Q was going to be there. I guess it's this weekend. That's still a nice boat. Thanks for the vicarious boat shopping guys. I like to look although I'll probably never own one.
Cheaters! Using a motor! What happen to the "Romantic Rowing"? LoL Wow! "White Gloves". The mini-vampires are down here in Florida's South-West Coast. Happy Sailing ⛵
That's my dad's boat! He loves it and does so much work on it. Lots of great memories with the whole family. Wonderful boat in mint condition.
That's awesome! Such a great boat! And thanks for watching!
Pretty little monohull .. credit to your dad's custody of it. 🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧
Props to your dad for taking such great care of the Sabre!
Another excellent presentation guy, many thanks.
We appreciate the comment! Thank you and thanks for watching!

That Morris is sweet… But is it the one for $80k?!?
But so sweet!
@@boatfools Like all Morris yachts. Too bad they don't build them anymore.
@@boatfools Bt the way, I took a look at the Morgan 38 here yesterday. It is either a 383 or 384.

The bro-mance continues! Maniacs...say "happy boat".
We’re definitely Maniacs. Though Canadian Ken is 100% Canadian. He can even bust out some French…
Bonus points for mentioning Capt.Q. and common sence boat buying.
Ha! He was the champ!
wood trim on the combings is more than a nice touch. Looks like mast is set back slightly, increasing the jib area, maybe a lower aspect ratio?
Definitely a nice touch. I don’t believe the boat was modified in any way, but I reckon it’s possible… Thanks for watching!

Kudos to the owner, she's been beautifully maintained!

Is this still available? 😂 might sail her down here to Marathon to warm up a bit. Beautiful sailboat ⛵️. Perfect 👌🏽
She is still available! Sounds like a solid plan!

Whats the hp rating of one of those A4s?
This is the 30hp version of the A4. They also made an 18hp model.
you should talk about all pros and con about the boat.

I think it’s a mark. 2 by the way the cockpit is made wider where the wheel would be if it had one.

Indeed one could! You are 100% correct. Solid, solid boat.

This doesn’t sound like the boat for you!
can you get parts for it?
Yes, if you’re talking about parts for the Atomic 4, they are readily available through Moyer Marine.
