Actually it's not one of the greatest, it is the greatest. Larry Fitzgerald had 546 yards in the playoffs that year, which is the all-time record. He caught seven touchdown passes that year in the playoffs, which is also the all-time record.. It was the single greatest playoff run by a receiver in history.
@@ericmathis3746 He had the benefit of an extra game. I prefer averages personally. That way, a guy like Jerry Rice isn't punished because the 49ers didn't have to play a wild card game. Rice in 1988, in one less game: 21 catches, 409 yards, SIX touchdowns. So he averaged 7 catches for 136.3 yards and two TD's in three games, including the Super Bowl. Which he won Super Bowl MVP. Fitz averaged 7.5 catches for 136.5 yards and 1.75 TD's in four games. So OH SO SLIGHTLY more in catches and yards (mind you, Rice's first two games were blowouts that he didn't play much in the 4th quarter of) and slightly less in touchdowns. It speaks to just how dominant Rice was that you can't name a receiving record or performance or mark that he isn't around somewhere having done something similar.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 I would NEVER make any argument against the greatest wide receiver of all time in Jerry Rice! But could you imagine what Fitzgerald's numbers would be overall if he had halfway decent QBs to throw to him other than a couple good years with Kurt Warner and one good year with Carson Palmer? This man had the likes of Derek Anderson, Drew Stanton, Max Hall, John Skelton, Shaun King, Richard Bartel, Matt Leinart, Blain Gabbert, John Navarre, Josh Rosen and Josh McCown just to name a few throw to him throughout his career... And Fitz is STILL number two all time in total yards and receptions! Imagine if he had Joe Montana and Steve Young throwing the ball to him most of his career, and an MVP Rich Gannon in 2001 and 2002..Jerry Rice finished with a whopping 22,895 yards in 19 seasons, and Larry Fitzgerald has 17,290 through 15 1/2 seasons. So Rice averaged 1,200 yds per season with Montana, Young and Gannon throwing him the ball and Fitz has averaged 1,150 yds per season with a list of horrible QBs throwing to him. I think that makes Fitzgerald's numbers a bit more impressive. It would be interesting to have seen where Fitz would have finished in total yards, receptions and TDs if he had the same talent at QB that Rice had . So excuse me if I take this one small victory over Rice with all that said..lol.

Fitz did more in this playoff run than most WR's do over an entire season. 30 catches. 546 yards receiving. 7TD's. Broke the old record held by Jerry Rice by 137 yards. Unreal.
He's the GOAT! He did this with an old Kurt warner. Imagine a prime Kurt warner. Same situation with Palmer. He was already 34 years old when he started playing with Larry. Not to mention Larry was also out of his prime by the end of their tenior together.
Larry Fitzgerald has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Phenomenal receiver, one of the greatest to ever play the game. First ballot Hall of Famer.
I don't think I've ever seen a more dominant postseason in any sport than Fitz's run during these playoffs. It felt like he was LITERALLY unstoppable. Any ball thrown his way, you KNEW he was gonna catch it. And he did. Regardless of coverage. Absolutely insane. And I say this as an Eagles fan who lost to the Cardinals in the NFCCG that year.
I like how Larry is one of the only guys who consistently tries to reach the ball out and squeeze as much out of it, and the coaches are completely OK with that. Probably because he just had those great hands.
Warner to fitz I’m the playoffs was always deadly af, sad they didn’t take the super bowl this year cause you could see how bad the entire team but mainly Larry wanted it
It's sad that Warner got sacked before he could get off the last-ditch pass at the very end of the Super Bowl. Fitzgerald probably would've won the game on a Hail Mary the way he was going.
Cards were down every game in the playoffs because they weren’t a good defense or team. Fitz and the Grocery Bagger were there offense in the Postseason. Everybody knew Kurt was throwing to 11 and they couldn’t stop him
I dont think that there was a better wide receiver in history for one year than larry fitz in his superbowl year. Btw i think the steelers owe larry a ring because he singlehandedly took a regular season defense to the superbowl and thats the only reason the steelers won that game.
Chase Claypool has the “potential” to be Fitz. He has the makeup build size, speed catch, radius 50/50 ball winner, High point ability, desire drive football iq not the intangibles. Fitz is a legend pro comparisons will be made but have yet to be replicated
Yea with a shitty team and a rookie qb... the only reason why he didn't get another 1000 HD season is because AZ didn't have another threat to take the pressure off of him...make in mistake he is still playing at a high level like top 10 wideout level dont be surprised if he has 1000 yes along with hopkins
480Valley Boyz602 he always carried his team he never had a good an expect once and I’m not talking bout kyler I’m forgot the guys name he was on the rams and he was undrafted
This was 2009 so I recorded the sd feed to vhs. I believe I also recorded it to dvd but it was far easier to make a highlight reel through my 2 vcrs than using the dvd recorder where the pause button on the remote wasn't very responsive. I had no idea how to rip an HD feed in 2009, hell I still don't have the secret to that now. I still like making and showcasing my highlights tho so whatevs.
billny33 it’s an awesome video! It just trips me out sometimes how 10 years ago I thought football broadcasting was gorgeous and now it looks/feels so aged. So this tickled me bc I was like OK I know it’s not THAT old 🤣 my dad used to rip every single chiefs game onto vhs tapes and i would watch all of them as a kid.. I think they’re still in his attic. Good times.
One of the greatest post season performance ever.
greatest by a wr

the man has more career tackles than drops. He's on another level.
@Jack Ramanathan wdym? How they lie about that it’s a Stat that he has
I remember watching a few of his games and I said to a good friend on that I have never seen him drop a pass or fumbled, "ever".
Future HOF?
this was like Dirk Nowitzki on the Mavs title run. Great player just taking it to another level for one of the greatest playoff stretches of all time.
Perfect comparison

Perhaps the greatest postseason run by an individual in NFL history.
THE greatest I've ever seen with my own eyes.
Damn how I wished for the Arizona Cardinals to win the super bowl that year.
He would have had that Super Bowl MVP for sure if they had won that game
Future HOF!

goddamn i wanted larry and Kurt to get that ring soo badly. that steelers team was just too good but my god it was a good superbowl
Great vid man, Larry Fitzgerald is definitely one of the greats!

If only Whisenhunt would have kicked the field goal before the half who knows what would have happened.
If he would have been knocked out of bounds even and no score at all. Still probably would have won
If Antrel Rolle had been on the sideline like he was suppose to instead of getting in Larry's way he would have caught him.
Or if they just stopped them with 2 minutes left
Fitzgerald
Moss
Owens
Harrison
Steve Smith
Calvin Johnson
Andre Johnson
Reggie Wayne
Jeez this era was ridiculously stacked at WR.

Fitzgerald was and still is a beast💯💯
One Word.......LARRYTHELEGEND !!!
This is amazing bro thanks
if only Kurt had a cannon. Fitz was out running all the deep throws.
This guy was the GOAT. Rice or no Rice.

It's ridiculous that you can create a 23 minute highlight video just for one WR's playoff run.
It's one of the greatest playoff runs I've ever seen from a WR. He put the Cardinals on his back.
