The pokemon world constantly attempting to depict itself as like our world stims from the initial concept where the two are the same. That clearly isn't the case as time went on and I do wish that they acknowledge this. Ultimately I think their world should at parts resemble our world in parts but be very clear that it isn't our world. We don't have magical creatures that takes up most if not all the native fauna and flora, we aren't neigh indestructible demigods with an incredibly close connection to nature, and we aren't anywhere near as ludacrisly advanced as the pokemon world. They could go to the center of the universe and explore the multiverse multiple times over if they had any desire to do so. Instead they place more importance on matters that correspond to pokemon which is why researching the dream world is of a much higher priority than space.
Regarding history, the pokemon world is impossibly advanced. They developed advanced sealing techniques as cave people, long since figured out complete energy to matter conversion, had force fields, lasers, flying fortresses, and artificial pokemon by the medieval ages, they can build cities overnight and superweapons under a month, and the pokeball is the most powerful sealing device in fiction. That is not getting into the technological marvel that is the pokedex or how time travel just casually exists yet no one has any desire to abuse it. Pokemon is truly a sci-fi fantasy world, one that is right in the middle between the two genres, and fittingly enough all the impossible advanced stuff they have is treated as normal and exists in the background. They don't draw attention to it because to them it is normal and part of their reality. I digress, in response to the existence of pokemon which would have made civilization impossible humanity unanimously decided up three responses. Rapidly advancing tech, rapidly advancing magic, and to befriend these creatures because no one is winning a war with them. That bond between humanity and pokemon was set near humanity's inception on that world and has been developed ever since to the point they are now inseparable. Their world quite literally revolves around that concept, that bond. Their history is practically that notion on an ever expanding chorus that you can't help but hear. They all have the same fundamental world culture and notion which eventually unified the world and crafted world peace which they are desperate to keep. One need only to look at all the superweapons lying all over the place to realize how bad their wars can get. The people of the pokemon world are also scarily good at recording and storing information. To the point where they don't really forget technology or knowledge but that they forget where they placed things hundreds to thousands of years ago like how we forget where we place our car keys.

I personally chose to believe that the Pokémon world is pretty much a 1 for 1 of our world, Kanto is Kanto, Johto is Kansai, Hoenn is Kyushu, Sinnoh is Hokkaido, Unova is NYC, Kalos is France, Alola is Hawaii, Galar is the UK, Paldea is the Iberian Peninsula, and so on.
Obviously there are some differences, but it’s worth noting that some of the real world references have been retconed to fit into the Pokémon universe, specifically changing “Indian elephant” to “copperaja” for Raichu in Legends Arceus
This is still an enjoyable video tho

My ultimate wishlist for a Pokemon game is one that takes the Gen 5 approach of "only new mons" to the ultimate extreme: ONLY new mons exist 0 returning mons from any previous gen. This way you cannot bank of Gen 1 pandering for cheap fanservice points you have to put the work to make the new mons memorable. This is where Gen 5 fumbled where a big chonk of its roster were Gen 1 stand-ins.

I always said to make an open world game with all the regions. You pick which region you wanna start in and maybe do a mechanic where you can give your friends info about pokemon in your region and ivxe versa that'd be cool. But basically be ash and go to each region get a new teams and get all the badges and become the VERY BEST

I really dislike how "grounded" the Pokémon world feels. Barring alternate dimensions, the most magical locale we've seen this far is a really big crater... Twice (sootopolis and area zero)

Laverre, Ballonlea, and Anistar were pretty fantastical areas too, and then you've got Hammerlocke, which has this interesting fortress-like design to it. Motostoke has a steampunk theme, but I feel like, with that one, it could've leaned much further into it than it did.

The idea of some type of cult, leader, or corrupt presidential candidate, using Pokémon with psychic or other abilities as a means to an end, really interest man at the beginning of the video when talking about how Pokémon would affect every aspect of the world building, it just reminded me of how many times even as a kid I thought of ideas, and now I see them as missed opportunities

Real world animals have made the occasional appearance in the manga there was a cat. The cerulean gym had normal fish and alot of dex entries do make reference to real world animals. My personal theory is gradually over time pokemon have gradually made animals disappear.

I love how the overwhelming majority of our world’s fauna are in Africa, Oceania and South America, yet we’ve never had any games based on these parts of the globe. Japan’s obsessed with making Europe the setting for their fiction for some reason.
