    I really appreciate your in depth review. You’re the only reviewer I’ve come across that tested the smart contract feature.
    Question: did it only work for you using the desktop version of the defi wallet? Or did it work using the mobile version as well?

      Thanks. Basically the smart contract feature is totally independent of the software you are using, so will work the same on desktop and mobile.

    Just out of curiosity, why is some of the text so dark? 12:05, under "Notice." Is it a color that isn't getting picked up on camera, or is it that hard to read on the actual device? Other than that question... I really like what Keystone is doing. Among mainstream wallets (in other words, excluding DIY stuff like SeedSigner and Krux, which is my favorite), Keystone is the one that I'm most impressed by.
    P.S. Awesome content, as always!

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  9 місяців тому +4

      The text is quite dark, but certainly readable in real life. (I boosted the brightness in a couple of shots where I wanted to highlight the dark text)
      I agree that I think their approach is very good in that they are offering something unique in both the Bitcoin-Only and Multicoin Firmware. It's great that they have also pushed the price down with this hardware refresh at a time when other vendors continue to push the piece up.
      Thanks for the encouragement :)

    In video 10:47 you demonstrated that you can add a wallet. Does that mean that a person cannot only have a MetaMask mobile wallet, but also a BlueWallet and Rabby Wallet using only One Keystone 3 Pro device? Or are three Keystone 3 Pro devices needed?

    • @CryptoGuide

      I don't quite understand the question. You can use one hardware device with Rabby, Blue wallet and Metamask at the same time with accounts derived from the same seed.

    How is the tamper resistance on this unit compared to the old keystone? I remember they had a premium version of the keystone which had an anti tamper feature where if you try to crack open the case it would brick or erase the device but the feature relied on an internal disposable battery that only lasted like 2 years so you’d have to keep replacing the device every 2 years it seemed like.

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  7 місяців тому +2

      The tamper resistance is there, but the question of whether it relies on a batter will only be knowable once they release the full source which is apparently coming "soon"

    What is the safest way to handle a big crypto wallet? Do you like having crypto in 2 or more wallets? Do you have. a 'cold' wallet which you never connect to uniswap/1inch etc? Or you have no problem to keep your crypto in 1 wallet?

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  7 місяців тому +2

      Define big?
      If you are doing Defi stuff then you probably want to have one account that is dedicated to HODL and another for transactions and stuff. (This can happen on a single device)
      The main risk with splitting stuff up across multiple devices is that you then need to manage multiple backups... (Which makes it easier to mix things up)

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  3 місяці тому

      The keystone 3 supports dice in the more recent firmware releases, so just use that. I would generally advice against using it with tools like Ian Coleman's tool, as it just creates more ways to accidentally compromise the security of your setup. (Compared to just doing it all on the hardware device)

      Can you make a video explaining how hardened addresses work? Like those that are seen in Ian Coleman’s tool.

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  2 місяці тому +1

      Do you mean hardened derivation? Basically this just means that the addresses aren't just derived from an extended public key, but require access to the private key. This could be useful in some more obscure configurations where you may need to share individual private keys from within an account in a secure way. (As with a normal wallet, if someone has the extended public key and a single private key, they can calculate all of the private keys for that account)

    Bit confused on a couple of issues,
    1. I thought that since it uses third party apps that virtually any coin would be supported, is that correct. Just reading in comments that some coins are not.
    Also, how can using third party apps be secure on an airgapped device?, isnt that connecting to the internet in a way? Is that really trustworthy?

    • @CryptoGuide
      @CryptoGuide  2 місяці тому

      Third party apps only make use of functionality that already exists within the hardware device itself. (Some coins/chains work the same under the hood in terms of addresses, transaction signing, etc)
      Third party apps are the same from a security perspective as those provided by a vendor. (And this has nothing to do with being air gapped) Private keys, seed phrases, etc, remain on the hardware device and are not shared with the applications that are running on the internet connected PC/Phone.

    When purchasing, I did not check whether Keystone supports basic currencies such as XLM or XRP. It turned out that in addition to not supporting them, it also did not support the ones I was interested in, e.g. XDC and QNT. Be sure to check this before purchasing, as Keystone has a strict "no refund" policy. Very poor service and lack of support for important cryptocurrencies are very serious disadvantages. I warn against purchasing. I primarily use ISO20022 complient currencies such as XLM, XRP, QUANT, XDC, CSPR, IOTA and others. Most of them are not supported by this wallet. So for me Keystone Pro is more like "just a stone", a $100+ brick. I do not recommend.

      This isn't surprising as XRP is a very simple Bitcoin clone under the hood, so won't be difficult to add.

      I agree but it's worth noting that Trezor and Ledger and exceptions to the norm here and that almost no-one has supported hardware as long as they have. (Which is commendable for them)

      It's really too soon to say, as they will simply be going to market with what can sell the most units to the largest audience from day one. Will need to keep an eye on it over the next few months. (Particularly once they open source everything)

      Yea unfortunately if you need the Bitcoin only features like Multisig today, Keystone don't have a good option. (Unless you are happy to track down a Keystone 1)

      They have a Bitcoin only firmware for the KS 2 Pro as well. Who says they will not create one for the KS 3 Pro too?
      I am more concerned about the USB and Bluetooth connection on an airgapped device.
