    Excellent videos. 👍 I just found your channel and have been basically binge-watching.
    I purchased a 3-card set of Tangem cards with your code, and hopefully Tangem will release their ring soon, as I'll also be buying one of those in order to have a wallet with me for small(er) expenditures, if/when needed. The rings look nice enough, but if the worst happened, I could see a criminal totally overlooking it, as it's not gold, silver, platinum, etc.
    It's looking like Tangem could _almost_ be called 'Disruptive Technology' within the space of crypto hardware wallets. Not really terribly different, but they've just made everything so easy, efficient and affordable. There's no battery to eventually, totally die or to need charging. No buttons to break. No screens to crack, and, I'm assuming, a small fraction of the electronic components inside.
    I have (2) Ledger Nano X's and a Nano S. For less that 25% of the cost of those devices (and I got an 'X' and the 'S' as a special package deal many years ago), I purchased the (3) Tangem cards, which are (obviously) more secure, will almost certainly last (much) longer, and are (I'll soon find out), probably easier and more efficient to use. Also, I thought it would be great having Bluetooth on the Nano X, but I've NEVER used it, not once.
    I think we're getting close to where crypto hardware wallets with a _secure element_ will just automatically be incorporated into cell. phones. If people wanna use it, great. If not, it won't be noticed. Phones are so expensive anyway the cost would be mostly negligible. I could see it basically being an embedded Tangem 'card' with the ability to use a third-party, Open Source, 'hot' wallet, if the user so desires, or maybe the big manufacturers, i.e. Samsung, Apple, LGE, etc. will even partner with Tangem. I guess the huge problem with that is criminals would assume many people would have crypto on their phones. However, most currently do mobile banking from their phones, so I don't guess that would be a big difference.
    It's an exciting time to be alive. I'm old. I was around long before cell. phones, personal computers, arcade/home video games, and much of what people now take for granted.

      You’re right, Tangem is ahead of the game, really because they listen to their users/customers when other brands don’t.
      The ring will be awesome imo.
      To your point, I’m not exactly sure where the future of cold wallets is headed. Crypto in general is a pain in the ass to use.
      We need better systems in place to make it more user-friendly, so as these systems evolve, so will the wallets.
      Good stuff 👍

    I just purchased a Keystone 3 Pro and setting the standard seed phrase doesn't seem to be working properly. The words and numbers do not highlight as they do in the Shamir back up making it impossible to set a phrase.
    I prefer the Seed phrase over the Shamir backup, any idea on what might be happening there ? Also I'm noticing even with a 70% charge that it tends to go dead and I have to a restart Kind of crazy for a brand new device. Anybody else having this problem

    On your recommendation I purchased the Keystone 3 Pro. For me it was a bit of a nightmare. I didn't have a USB to USB C cable so I had to buy one. I also had to buy a micro SD as the site said there was a problem with the USB update. The Keystone site is in dark mode and is difficult to read. Went through the setup process and then tried to see which additional wallet I should use. I could hardly see the writing on the screen as it was so small. Chose the first one Metamask to find it didn't support Bitcoin. Chose the next one only to find it wasn't supported in France. Eventually used Blue Wallet which wasn't easy to use. Eventually after several tries got it to work with the Keystone. The back and forth with the camera verifying doesn't inspire confidence. So I probably won't use it much. Went back to my tried and tested Bitfi which uses WiFi so is permanently air-gapped. Also Bitfi updates itself. I suspect the reason we never see 'wallet experts' using Bitfi is because the company doesn't offer freebies or kick-backs. As of this moment the Keystone has been charging over night and is still at 90%. I wanted something extra so now I shall try the Tangem 2.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  8 місяців тому +3

      I’m sorry it’s been a bad experience. The USB update worked fine for me.
      Using a completely air gapped/decentralized wallet isn’t for everyone.
      It’s super secure, but not as user friendly as say Tangem is.
      That said, Keystone is still working on making the 3 Pro better so feedback like this helps (I’ll send it straight to Keystone)
      As for Bitfi you might be right. But that’s not why I haven’t reviewed it. Honestly I’ve never heard of it until now.
      Also a wallet that uses Wifi is NOT air gapped.
      Hopefully, Keystone will continue to improve.

      Great video, many thanks!
      Have the 2 sets of 3 of the latest Tangem wallet and love it. It just works and is really easy to use!Have just set up a Keystone Pro 3 and was impressed with it. However it’s drawback… I was a bit disappointed and confused to find I have to use a hot wallet and not a dedicated wallet of it’s own. It raises many questions which remain unanswered, the biggest e.g. what if I want to send my crypto to a CEX like Binance for example. Does that mean I have to move it twice and double up on risk of loss and fees? For ETH and BTC this could end up being very expensive. Also how does this integrarle with Tax Software APIs like Koinly for example? More complicated as it needs to know all of the steps and not all wallets are supported? Probably?! Being a 25 year veteran software engineer in the banking industry I’m likely to find this easier than most. I’d say it seems like they may have rushed the software element out the door quickly to get to market. I will need to work out how it works. For this reason I haven’t used it yet and the jury is still out. For this reason, for me, for now it is Tangem all the way! 👍 Keystone is a great wallet though just a lot more complicated to use against the Tangem Wallet.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  6 місяців тому

      @@richardobrien4465 Thank you Richard! Tangem is excellent.
      As for keystone you don’t have to send anything twice. All the hot wallets do is allow you to manage your crypto.
      The private key & public addresses are still generated by keystone. You’re just using a hot wallet to initiate the transaction and the device to approve it.
      As for taxes, I haven’t used Koinly. But i use a similar software and as far as I know you just enter your wallets public address and the software scans it. So no different using the K3P.
      And no, there’s no sending anything twice.

    Hi there. Thanks for the nice video. I was wondering does tangem has all networks incorporated? I mean, BNB / DOT / SOL/ APTOS? If so, can I send those tokens directly? Do I need to have bnb / dot / SOL / APT in the tangem wallet for gas fees? Thanks.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  8 місяців тому +1

      It has all those you mentioned except for APTOS, along with 7,000 other tokens.
      You can send and receive tokens directly from the wallet with the tap of a button.
      However, any blockchain transaction regardless of the wallet you use requires you to have funds to pay for gas fees as this is a network fee (not a fee charged by the wallet).
      So if you want to send coins out of Tangem, you must have the corresponding coin to cover the associated gas fees.

      To manage your crypto with the Keystone 3 Pro, you need a third-party hot wallet. For transferring crypto, let's take ETH as an example:
      1. Set up a hot wallet supporting ETH, like MetaMask.
      2. Connect your K3P wallet to MetaMask using the "connect to hardware wallet" button.
      3. Copy the public address from the K3P MetaMask wallet.
      4. Paste this address into the recipient spot when sending ETH from the exchange.

    In the reviews and discussions about Crypto wallets, it appears to me that you end up realizing that you need a Vault (cold wallet) to store the majority of your coins. Your vault (Keystone) a more sedentary device that you don't interact with very often and then you have a more mobile wallet (Tangem) that you will use for small everyday transactions. I think you described it well in this video. Use the Keystone as your Vault and the Tangem as your easy-to-use everyday wallet. Of course, budget will have a lot to do with the route you go but at the end of the day deciding you are going to take on self-custody of your holdings, there will be some responsibility you will have to take on. @cyberscrilla  8 місяців тому +1

      I might make a video on it, but I don’t generally cover hot wallets.
      Binance’s wallet is an MPC wallet. Technically it’s self custodial (like Metamask) but without a seed phrase.
      MPC wallet stores 3 shares of your private key in 3 locations
      1. Binance
      2. Your Device
      3. Cloud Storage
      All your shares are encrypted with a recovery password that you generate.
      You need 2 of the 3 shares to access your wallet.
      That said, I would never use this kind of wallet to store my crypto.
      Cold storage is the most secure solution.

      You need to update the firmware and it will fix it.
      Follow these steps:
      Here's the complete step from our support team:
      To address this issue, we have developed firmware version 1.2.4 specifically crafted to rectify the charging quirk associated with the embedded system. We strongly recommend updating your device to the latest firmware to optimize its performance.
      Please follow the steps below for a smooth firmware update process:
      1. Access Recovery Mode on your device:
      Connect to Your Computer:
      Connect your Keystone 3 Pro to your computer using the provided USB cable.
      Long-press the power button for 20 seconds until you enter Recovery Mode.
      For macOS Users: Look for a "No Name" USB drive icon on your desktop or find it in Finder under "Locations."
      2. Download Firmware Package:
      Download the firmware package named "keystone3.bin" to your computer.
      Link: keyst.one/firmware
      3. Transfer Firmware:
      Drag the downloaded firmware file 'keystone3.bin' into the USB drive, 'No Name' associated with your Keystone 3 Pro. (Note: Ensure the file name is 'keystone3.bin')
      Allow the transfer to complete.
      4. Initiate Firmware Installation:
      Tap the "Reboot" button on your device once the transfer is finished.
      The new firmware will be installed automatically. Kindly be patient during this process.
      Once completed, your device will return to its normal status and update to version 1.2.4.
      For additional guidance, you can refer to Keystone’s video tutorial:

    Hi mate, how can you guarantee the tangem card is safe. All security-applied programmes in the digital environment are entitled to your money. I think it is more guaranteed to stand on large stock exchanges. Tangem, Ledger, when you transfer the money in these, you send it through their own programmes. it all looks like it belongs to you, it's just not safe.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  7 місяців тому

      That’s not true. Cold wallets use the blockchain which is decentralized and where crypto lives. They don’t have “their own programs”.
      And you control the keys that grant you access to your wallet (self custody).
      Now if you were to keep your crypto on a centralized exchange, THAT’s DANGEROUS as they control your private key.
      Hence, a cold wallet like Tangem is best because it gives you full control of your assets.

    When you connect your hardwallet to a hot wallet to connect to a dex for example, and you have to sign a transaction, isn't that a vulnerability point to have your wallet emptied?
    After all, in order to sign anything, your phrase key must be known, right? Even if it doesn't get displayed anywhere visually.
    So, if you really want safety, it's not just that you'll triple check to enter the correct sites and use hardware wallets, but you'll never sign anything, right? Thank you.
    No defi, just simple receiving and sending of funds would be the way to be extra safe, as I understand it.
    P.S.: I once had two addresses on the same chain connected to the same wallet (though I still had several safety measures, like using a bootable linux that would get cleared after each use), aspiring for safety, I connected my smaller bag to a dex for some simple defi, it got drained. The other address connected to the same wallet, nothing happened to it. My keys from the smaller bag had to have been stolen just by my signing of a transaction.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  8 місяців тому

      Yes and no. This is the case for ANY cold wallet not just the 3 Pro.
      Connecting your cold wallet to any dapp is a risk, because if you sign a malicious transaction, you grant a scammer access to your wallet.
      That’s why I always recommend having a dedicated cold wallet as a storage solution.
      However, the 3 Pro provides anti blind signing which could actually help you detect a malicious transaction before approving it.
      But NO, your seed phrase/private never leaves the secure element chip on the device so it’s never exposed as you suggested.

Suspected it, but pretty much everyone else acts like a hardware wallet that you connect on the web as a cold storage device, when it's not. Such a travesty for others to explain how to use it, mentioning signing transactions, and not speak of the risks of signing.
      The seed phrase is actually a way for humans to remember the key, i.e. the access key gets rendered as a seed phrase, so in all intends and purposes - if by singing one could access your wallet, doesn't that mean he knows your key, cause you used it to sign, so basically your seed phrase/key did leave your wallet?

      @cyberscrilla  8 місяців тому +1

      @@Jadeite12 You’re welcome. There’s always that confusion of how cold wallets work to actually secure your crypto.
      To answer your question.
      Signing a transaction doesn't mean your seed phrase or private key leaves your wallet.
      You use your private key to create a digital signature locally on your device. You don't share your private key or seed phrase with anyone.
      Phishing scams rely on "token approval" that enable users to grant smart contracts a certain amount of access to their wallets.

      Your storage wallet should only be used to hold your investments. Then when you’re ready to cash out, send funds to an exchange, then to your bank.

      The seed phrase is generated from 12 words in the phone, then it’s converted into a private key which thereafter imported into the chip of the card, and finally, the seed phrase is deleted from the phone.
      This process can be verified in GitHub, because the app is open source.

    My Keystone Pro 3 arrived the other day, I don't recommend it. The build quality isn't great, nor is the screen. The instructions have gaps missing, it's very un-user friendly, buggy, I can't get over how the Companion App isn't compatible, the list of supported cryptos is BS, I bought it bc it said it supports ADA, apparently that's coming soon.
    To top it off I tested it by loading up with $100 of BTC, and I can't send the crypto out bc the scanning process fails, still waiting on CS to get back to me.
    Good thing I didn't put more BTC on the damn thing. Feel like I've been robbed buying a beta test device.

      You can generate your own seed phrase. Do so at your own risk. The human mind is not good at choosing a random order of words like software is.
      All seed phrases are generated from the BIP39 word list, so you have to choose from that.

    Tangem is a blind signer

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  3 місяці тому

      Blind signing refers to the process where the signer is unable to see the content of what they are signing.
      In the case of Tangem, since the transaction details are displayed on the app before approving the transaction by scanning the card, it does not fit the definition of blind signing.
      The user has the opportunity to review the transaction details before approving it, so it's not a blind signing process.
