I have one zone getting low pressure. Changed out all the sprinklers and cant find a leak. Thank you for posting this clear and concise video. Its perfect to help me understand the valve problem I believe I have. God bless you.
One big problem with your video...for someone who might not be familiar with all the parts involved with the valve you’re working on... you don’t show a close-up shot of the valve and all it’s components inside, so that everything gets put back inside correctly.
I replaced the diaphram, because it was leaking between the top and bottom piece of the valve and now the sprinklers will not turn on at all. I'm stumped. Everything worked before swapping the one part out 🤯
If your valve is buzzing the power is still on to it and that's your problem. Wouldn't you want to turn off the power to the valve before you tear it apart? Sounds like a bad timer.
Hi, we bought a house where at least 2 of the 4 water sprinkler valves are Irritrol, all 4 of the valves pour water out of them while they are sprinkling! Zones 3 & 4 are another brand and leak so bad that the sprinklers don't pop up properly so water just dribbles w/gravity taking it right onto the concrete patio that was designed with no drain! It's aggravating and terrible waste of water in a drought area of So.Cal .... I tried to hand tighten top since it was so loose (seemed to be a righty tight thing, so I did turn it a little snug, hoping it would stop the water leaking out), and then i heard a Geyser when it switched to the Zone I hand tightened ! The top flew off and was spraying 12 feet in the air ! ARGHHH seems like a crappy design, no matter what i do she just gushes water and pops off! Why wouldn't they make it so it screws on effectively? I know the very hard water mixed w/105+ temps warp the plastic and crappy gaskets & here plays a big role in the ineffectiveness of this design. I can't seem to figure out why the very top doesn't snap into place to stay on and try screwing it on again! Maybe a clip broke off or is missing or...? this can't be that complicated... neighbor says the water here is so hard they need to be replaced every couple of years or taken apart and soaked in something like Lime away and put back together w/new gaskets! I was told by Local Big Box Hardware to stay away from Orbit for Water Valves. . . Any ideas or suggestions w/o being to crass would be great! LOL In God We Trust
Most all my irritrol valves blow water, from the check valve seal. Try unscrewing the valve with your hand, clean the O-rings and reinsert. Usually does the trick for me. Indeed a bad design.

Its risky pulling out solenoids ss sometimes that zone can stay on after. Especially as no valve box is as clean as yours.
Can I put the R 205 guts in a R 204 valve
Yes you can.

You may wanna give us a call to discuss the process you did so we can determine what is/went wrong.
