This game was released in 1999 and if you take that into consideration then this game is pretty fucking amazing. The graphics are great, the quest is amazing, the world is huge. The only issue with this game is that it is incredibly unforgiving, it's close to literally impossible for a newbie, it's simply put too hard. I love games which actually requires a challenge, but this game forces you to use guides to explain how basic things work as not all things are explained in the game (such as what the different things the Digimon says means, what the bars at the bottom-right corner means). It could be as hard as it is, but at least the information should be available in game from either various NPC or in books you could find or so.
Zero Todona I didn't fucking understand anything. I got it when I was around 10 or so, and since English isn't my native language I struggled a lot simply by that fact. I remember getting Sukamon and Numemon several times and just restarting the game from there. Was pretty fun still!
Yep. Imagine this game reworked today. It would be so amazing. Unless they go full Pokémon and make it so easy a blind toddler could play it. (First generation of Gameboy games were sooo much harder).
This was my first video game ever, I didn't play it for 5 years after getting it at age 8. At age 13 I played it for an entire summer (most of the time around the clock with only brief naps because that's what 13 year olds do during summer break) and most of the fall. At age 16, I picked it back up again and played it for another 5 months straight every day. So I agree with your comments, and I do wish the translations and in-game information had been better. Would love a remake but know it won't happen.
I love that you've done an Audio Commentary of the game. I really love it when a runner goes step by step and explains everything about the choices and decisions, version differences etc. In a game. I was looking for a 100% run, but I'd have lost interest since there aren't any Audio Commentated ones! Thanks for this, very entertaining.

It was the golden era of gaming, but this game isn't high-quality... comparing it to almost any other PS1 game shows that it isn't too good. It's way too slow-paced, and by that i mean the loading screens mostly... it's cryptic beyond belief - you can't play it without a guide, at all.. and it has very annoying sounds mostly.. and not much depth in the plot.. i would say had they done it well, it would've been a good game.
The game is a mess for sure. But it's really interesting in design and concept. It's also just plain weird. Idk. it's one of the few PS1 games I can still enjoy today.
Sadly, it is nostalgia. No game will ever feel the same because WE will never be the same. We were kids, Now we're not anymore, and that's what has changed.
This bias can be easily explained on this example: You only remember the good ones like Digimon World 1. Prime example on a game mostly held back by technology of the time.(aka they stuffed as much mechanics in as possible so they literally did not have the capacity of explaining all of it or do better sounds, because they already made the backgrounds prerendered 2d images to save polygons and rendering time for the importan stuff aka battles)
It's over a decade since i last played this game, but boy i love it... Everytime some video of it pops up, i feel goosembumps. And seeing this final fight also remembered me how grotesque and broken Thunder Justice was... Almost impossible to interrupt, almost impossible to avoid, high change to stun and a insane damage output! No equal in all tech board!
Wow i can't believe i actually watched all of this, i'm not really one to be into speed runs but this was very entertaining to watch, i always loved this game as a kid and it was interesting to watch you beat it so fast and the methods you used.
You just did in 8 minutes everything that I did 2 months as a child xD I had to play this game blind and without a manual because my cousin ate it. Maybe after watching whole run, I could even beat this game myself.
Really REALLY interesting speedrun. I really like how you didn't use any game breaking glitches or anything like that. Just a few minor tricks to shave off a few seconds. Watched it from start to finish, awesome job!
Sparsie, this was really interesting and fun to watch! Thanks for taking the time to provide audio commentary as well, your knowledge of this game is amazing. I remember playing this at a young age and having a very limited understanding of grinding/puzzle RPG games. So to see you speedrun this was really cool! Keep up the good work.
Wow, much love for making this video! I got to re-live a huge chunk of my gaming life (back when I was about 7 or 8 years old) in 90 minutes :)) thank you! Now onto the 100 prosperity vid to see who I missed. Keep it up!
Awesome run dude, brings back so many childhood memories. Ive spent countless hours not knowing what to do, and now I really wanna boot it up again and finish it in one day, with your amazing runthrough. Thumbs up
I remember I once beat the game with my first digimon and thought I was awesome. If I had known your run was even possible back then, it would have blown my mind. Great video, really enjoyed watching. I need to play this game again soon.
I played this all the time as a child, and it was amazing to watch this run. I learned a lot about the game, stuff 8 yr old me couldn't figure out. I'm gonna play this now.
I was very fortunate to see this run live. Sparsie has been the forerunner of pushing each of the categories of this game to its limits. The commentary here is amazing, however in a span of 1 hour and 30 minutes, it is nearly impossible to discuss everything about the route and its strategies. This run is proof enough that the single segment run of this category will one day hit sub 1:30, a time which was thought impossible for a very long time. I have no worries about this happening within the foreseeable future. Good job, Sparsie.
49:23 - I think the street sign thing is a mistranslation or something, referring to a dojo's sign. If a dojo loses a challenge for its sign, it is considered dishonored and may have to close down...if I am recalling correctly.
Back in the old days I managed to reclutate many digimon. Greymon came to challenge me, and I've saved someone else after him. The main problem is that the italian version has 3 major bugs that impede you to finish the game. Tyrannomon will always continue to challenge you even after his defeat till you are dead, agumon will never allow you to enter in the ogremon fortress and if you enter in the factorial town the game will freeze. Very professional. What a waste of time.
this brought back alot of memories, however so many hours i spent on this game i never did beat it. My digimon always died and went back to egg form. Keep up the awesome speed runs.
Dang! The record has improved a lot since ' MusicControl and I first re-awakened this category. I still have my 3 hour and 30 minute run laying around in my records :p The routing has become very clean and smooth. Well done to you guys who currently speedrun this game! Really nice :)
Very nice speedrun, this game seems like it's something I'd really enjoy, I hope that I can sit down and play it normally someday. Also, severely enjoyed your commentary! Hope to see more from you C:
I enjoyed watching this. I finally got to see the ending of this game! When I was a kid I had no idea what I was doing, I was just running around having fun with my digimon friends and getting annoyed when they kept turning into Numemon, lmao. I had to rewatch the last 10 minutes of this as I was watching this just before bed and ended up falling asleep like 9 minutes before the run ended oops hehe. Great speedrun. In the time you took, I would've still been messing around in the icy area at best.
I love this game, in that way how they did it. When Digimon World 2 came out.. guys, I never expect so much hate. A system like in pokemon. No connection anymore to the digimon or something like that..
Thank you for your speedruns! They really help alot to get through the game and learn some tricks xD I had so much trouble when I was a child, getting through this game... So.. Thank You! :)
hey sparsie thanks for this run, i really enjoyed your commentary. i even watched your 100% run on twitch just to hear your commentary on it. used to have this game before i moved and left it for the landlord's kids. i hope there is a remake or sequel to it in the future.
Hi there, thank you very much :D A PSP-game called Digimon World Re:Digitize was released in Japan in 2012, and the gameplay is very similar to the first Digimon World. There's currently a group working on an English-translation, and it seems they will be finished within the next month. You might wanna check it out: digimonworldre.wordpress.com/
I enjoyed this game so much when i was younger. Never got to Mt Infinity tho.. i was too busy trying to digivolve into the desired monster, which never seemed to go as planned even with the strategy guide. Also my mind was completely blown that you got to Centarumon in 5 mins- i dont think I ever made it there in under like 2 hours.
I'm still looking for an emulator to run this but every single one I've got is missing the bios and as I'm not really a computer person i don't know where to go or to get them can someone help?
As of today the speed run is 129.45. Only just beating this one. Used to play this a lot as a kid. Will definitely be getting back on it. Timeless classic that still looks good for how old it is. Thanks for uploading this. Brilliant upload 😊
Wow... I played this game as a kid and loved it even though I was terrible at it! It took him 13 minutes to accomplish more than I ever have in any run! This is great! I had no idea you could beat it with only a champion. I've never been able to keep my digimon alive sadly... but if I can get a new copy, after watching this, I know I can do better!
Ive owned this game since its release when my mom bought it fro me as a birthday gift. It was beautiful back then, last time I played it I just kept training more and more digimon for the PvP collection, but with noone to play against I stopped playing it after a couple of years of fun.
Shit, the cave will open in 5 days regardless of you moving any dirt? I am never moving dirt for another playthrough again. Half-way to the entrance of the cave, gotta poop...
No, you can unlock the cave in 1 day if you remove the dirt, plus you will gain 5000 bits 500 HP, 50 OF, 50 Df...which is pretty helpful at the beginning of the game
You mentioned, around 1:08:12, something about Earth Attribute resisting Air Attributes. Is there some kind of chart made by someone with informations about type advantages or is that something you noticed during your runs? I've never heard of that..
Unfortunately there is no such chart on the internet as far as I know :( The ones that I know of and talk about, are the ones relevant for the run and found by experience, as you figured. There's (as usual) a lot of misinformation about this on the Gamefaqs- and Neoseeker-boards for Digimon World. I thought about making a chart myself, but I've been pretty busy lately and would want to have everything extensively tested, to make sure it's accurate. I hope I'll get around to doing that soon. The only one's that I'm fairly certain about are: Earth resists Air, Air resists Fire, Fire is weak to Water/Ice. I have a lot more theories about type-interactions, but as I said I have no evidence aside from personal experience yet and don't want to spread misinformation :P
Well here I am back again. After watching the 100 prosperity, I had to go play a bit. Then I really wanted to see another speedrun, so I watched your 1:27 any% which was awesome. Then I looked at the youtube to find that this one had live commentary, so I had to watch this too lol. Really fantastic to hear some of the explanations. Loved all of the commentary. Even seeing the same enemy dodges three times still impressed me. One of my questions came from your Amida forest explanation. Does that mean that every movement in the run up to that point was calculated? And if yes, does that mean it's the same Agumon fight every time? Also, never knew speed increased block chance, that was certainly interesting. Didn't know that digimon had elemental resistances to some moves either. Cool to learn new stuff about a game that I thought I had totally figured out. Also there's one last question I want to ask, because I've never really gotten a great explanation. What effects does getting the digivice from Jijimon at the very beginning actually have on the game? Thank you so much for all the work you've put into running this game. I've really gotten a lot out of watching all of the pb's you've gotten so far.
Thank you once again for your comment :P To answer your questions: The movement until Amida Forest is indeed completely planned out to make sure I get the Autopilot and that also includes the same Agumon fight, yeah. As for the Digivice: There's actually 0 difference. The only purpose of that little questionnaire at the start is to determine wether you get Agumon or Gabumon. I read tons of rumours, like not having the Digivice turning the game into a hard-mode, or making digivolution easier/harder. Unfortunately it's false and the game isn't affected by it at all.
genial video, muchas gracias que casi lloro al ver el final de un juego que tantas veces comencé pero nunca termine por uno o mil motivos mas, muchas gracias !
Yo, GOOD SHIT Sparsie, you sir have waaaaay more patience than normal gamey-nerdy people. I've always wanted to see a merathon of the game, perhaps you learn a good safe route and go to AGDQ!! =D I smell a Filth digimon incentive. If metal Mamemon would've spawned, do you think it would help or hurt the run? (yeaa, chances are really bad but...) Also, love the way you say Sand yanmanon. LOL
I'm just reading through the comments and it looks like I missed your question. Sorry for the late answer! There where actually two runners applying for AGDQ 2015 with Digimon World, unfortunately they rejected. But even assuming I would apply and get accepted: As I live in Europe, going there myself would be rather expensive and not something I could afford easily. So it's probably not gonna happen anytime soon :( As for Metal Mamemon: With the route I'm using here, he wouldn't have helped the run if he spawned. On the first visit I don't have time to fight him, since I need to enter Factorial Town at the right timing. And for the second visit, all of the remaining Digimon adding up to 3 Prosperity-Points are faster to get at that point. Basically, if he spawned I would have simply walked past him and continued the run regularly :D
Someone explain EXACTLY how moving items in the menu during battle change anything in the fight ? How can I reproduce that , is he just moving them randomly or is there a pattern to manipulate the RNG
+Destiny108☆ There was no RNG manipulation involving movement of items done in either this or the 100pp run. If I move around my items, it's for the sake of convenience, or for the sake of going fast :p
sparsie115 Thank you very much for answering sparsie I have another question if you have a clue : playing the game on epsxe emulator sometimes the game glitches during digivolution, and sprites become all black. ?
Destiny108☆ Haven't used epsxe in a while, but iirc... Go to Config > Video > Configure and set Texture Filtering to 0, Off-Screen drawing to 1, Framebuffer effects to 0 and Framebuffer upload to 1. That might fix it, if not I have no clue, sorry.
Am trying to play this on an emulator but have this weird bug where I can't skip training stats or bits loading, I have to wait for them to count down, can't find a solution to this anywhere...
Amazing commentary! I learned so much. How did you know the percentage of learning spinning shot? I don't quite understand how learning abilities works.
Does it matter much that Birdramon gets so many care mistakes after Digivolving (whilst training to fix time)? I always thought the "move learning rule" was if the opponent digimon did the move 3 times, is this true at all? Isn't it possible to sell all your chips after Meramon, or is it better to use them?
No, for the speedrun, Birdramons care mistakes are irrelevant. There is a possible drop in stats that can happen, when a Digimon is unhappy for too long. The game spawns a moth over it's head, and reduces it's stats by 2% for a few times. But that is not enough to make it worth the time it takes actually avoiding the care mistakes in the run, the stat-drop is barely noticeable. For casual-play, these care mistakes and the resulting drop in happiness would mean a huge shortage of the Digimon's life-span. It is impossible for my Birdramon to die because of that in the run though. As to move learning, that rule doesn't exist. All that needs to happen, is that the move is used once in the battle, and it doesn't even need to hit. Multiple uses of the move don't increase the chances for learning either. I'm selling one chip after Meramon, and that's all I really need. As long as I can get through the run with the healing items I have, it's much better to make use of the stats the chips give me, instead of selling them :D
sparsie115 Thanks for the quick reply Sparsie. I'm thinking about possibly running this game myself. I've never run a game before, but I think that because of this insightful commentary that I know all the tips and tricks.
I just watched this and it brings back so many memories. I played it on a pc emulator a couple of years ago too. Watching your vid made me want to play it again and so I downloaded an PS1 emulator and the ISO, but I can't seem to get past the new game screen. It doesn't allow me to press X. Could you or someone else send me a link for a working ISO/emulator? I used PSX 2.0 as emulator.
I get stuck at machindramon... When he spawns and the Battle begins, it just gets stuck on BATTLE! Any idea why, and more importantly, how do I fix it? I couldn't find anything by googling it...! Thanks in advance
I'm currently playing this game and I'd like to know if there is any site that has info about it like which digimon should I fight to get powers and stuff...
Wow dude! You just killed that fucking game! As a kid I was never able to get even close to finishing off, I had about 35 points best I think but I also hat that stupid PAL bug but DUDE!!! You know how that shit works and it looks so easy and the face that you've finished the game hundreds of time and I feel so dumb right now because I wouldn't even know exactly how to get which digivolution... Just wow, I'm speechless! I could probably finish the game without the bug just fine now but I would do everything randomly and you had it all mapped out and I don't even want to think about what you might be feeling and thinking when you try to go fur such a run! There are so many things that could go wrong, I would so insane and not only within the game, also things like getting thirsty and having to take a break or something but you seemed to didn't even do that. And the closer you get to finish this thing the more nerves you get and it's just incredible how you didn't make any mistakes and to me it seemed just perfect. When I saw that this video was only 1 1/2 hrs long, I thought about how that might be a fake or cheated somehow because I couldn't even imagine one beating the game that fast! Just wow, dude...
Eternal Distortion All of the above because I have three memory cards to save the games. If I have to pick, it is going to be FFVIII because of 4 gaming disks, all the GFs, and the Lion Heart Ultimate attack. Which also interested me into playing FFXIII series in PS3. Of all the FF, I only played FF8 and FF13. When I was young, I kept using the GameShark which make the impossible to possible like rapid fire from a magnum or rocket launcher in RE3, no reload in PE2 (So I keep shooting the MP5A5 and Grande launcher), sliding in SH1 so that I don't need to keep running all over the large map.
It's insane how fast you beat the game and the tricks you used I've beat the game many a time but never have tested my skills with a speed run been playing this game since I was 5
Honestly, if you just play the game for fun, any Digimon that you like is good to play with imo :P If you're talking about an actual speedrun: If one was to do a run with Tyrannomon, you definitely wouldn't digivolve to Megadramon, as it'd simply take to long. Tyrannomon is a decent choice for beating the game quickly though, assuming you learn Magma Bomb or Prominence Beam early. Then again, if you aim to be competetive, Birdramon is always gonna be the fastest.
well I don't have any problems getting megadramon easy due to training with super carot which gives 2 less wight better at traing on mp brain and off. While the hawk radish is used to go up in weight by 3 and it helps training on HP Speed and Def. ( I took notes of this myself) also I noticed you trained at the sukamon mp place if you had used a super carot you would had gotten alot more mp =) I have never actually though of speed running digimon world this way you did it. I never have any luck when I do play it for fun. My digimon always get ingured after a stupid battle. I used to have a lets play of DW1 that was like 48 parts where I got 100 prosperity and only had like 3 ultimates.but my Megadramon was so powerful thanks to the metal move which gives off, def, spd. IT was to that point that only machinedramon's moves did max 400-700hp =) and I'd hit him for like 1700-2500
Really enjoyed watching this! Don't know if you're still active on this account but I really hope I can see this game run on GDQ one day, preferably by you since you explain everything in a good way :D
David Lucky with rolls As in damage rolls. It randomly rolls from eg 1300-1800 damage, and he’s getting hit for like 1400 instead of 1800 so that’s pretty lucky damage rolls
Awsome speedrun! Loved this game, was the first one that i bought for ps1 when I got one. I always wondered one thing that I have not been able to find out, what does "hercules fruit" do? It dropped once for me in mt. infinity, but it dropped in an unobtainable area... so I was never able to pick it up. Hope you do more playthroughs and similiar, love seeing this game again.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the run :D As for your question.. You might be talking about the "Sage Fruit"? It get's dropped by the Piddomon (recoloured Angemon) in Mt. Infinity at a very low rate. As far as I know, that's the only "food-drop" you can get in there. As for what it does, it raises your Digimon's Brains-stat by 20... so nothing special really :P
sparsie115 Thanks for the quick answear! :) Well, it dropped from one of the three monochromon guys on the first floor, but it was stuck on top on the portal to the next floor. So it wasn't "Sage fruit", I'm afraid.. :/
nicke1126 Ohhhh, that might be the "Power Fruit" then? Completely forgot about those guys dropping that. I'm almost certain that an item called Hercules Fruit isn't in the US-translation of the game. The European version might have called it like that though, did you happen to play that one?
sparsie115 Ah ok well, I looked it up, and it seems as that was the translation in the european version :s Feels kinda weird renaming an item which isen't important in any way, where the only reason seems to be that is two different regions. Thanks for helping me out :)
No no, if you speak about the ChainMelon you win after beating the boss it increases the life of your digimon of 1 year ! "it's good for everything" it says The sagefruit give 20+ brain there is also a rare RedBerry (only found 2 in 65 years), powerIce (rare item dropped), speedleaf (speed+20), Icemushroom, blueapple, priklepear (less fat), they are rare ^^ I had a screenshot with all item, I finished the game and kept every chips and rare stuff :D In the game you can find: HP chip 11 MP chip:9 Off chip: 10 Def chip: 8 Speed chip: 8 Brain chip: 7
Cool speedrun, thanks for uploading it. It highlights one of the problems of the game imo : you have to shower your digimon with healing and MP objects to get anywhere in the game. It makes every victory feel cheap! Except maybe the Garurumon fight, but this one is random as fuck - even if your digimon has the potential to beat him he'll sometimes get annihilated because his timing wasn't right or because he doesn't manage to kill Garurumon before his ultra.
This is one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
totally agree!
Marvin K. I completely agree. This was a big part of my childhood.
I played many popular games and I agree with this guy.
i need to know why
Marvin K. Tell me about it. I'm now 29 and I'm still coming back to this stuff. Not ashamed at all.
This game was released in 1999 and if you take that into consideration then this game is pretty fucking amazing. The graphics are great, the quest is amazing, the world is huge.

Agreed, I would of been around 8(?) when this game came out and it was so hard to understand and get your digimon just right.
Zero Todona I didn't fucking understand anything. I got it when I was around 10 or so, and since English isn't my native language I struggled a lot simply by that fact. I remember getting Sukamon and Numemon several times and just restarting the game from there. Was pretty fun still!
The guide book was no help even as an English speaker. This game was really just pure luck.
Yep. Imagine this game reworked today. It would be so amazing. Unless they go full Pokémon and make it so easy a blind toddler could play it. (First generation of Gameboy games were sooo much harder).

Drake B idk man. I got the same fresh experience when I played Horizon Zero Dawn this week.
The game is a mess for sure. But it's really interesting in design and concept. It's also just plain weird. Idk. it's one of the few PS1 games I can still enjoy today.

Can you feel The Sunshine His cousin ate the manual. Im laughing too hard to dismiss it as a possibility
It wouldn't even matter, the Manual doesn't say shit anyway.
LoL
Your cousin are the manual? 😳
Wow, i never knew this game was so big... My friend and I always got that big yellow poop digimon and never got anywhere when we were kids :D
After struggling with this game as a child, and an adult, it's nice to see such a great run of the game. There's no way I'd even attempt this!
Really REALLY interesting speedrun. I really like how you didn't use any game breaking glitches or anything like that. Just a few minor tricks to shave off a few seconds. Watched it from start to finish, awesome job!

There is actually somebody speedrunning this game?
Dude you're fucking awesome! Kudos to you.
I'm here in 2023
Wow, much love for making this video! I got to re-live a huge chunk of my gaming life (back when I was about 7 or 8 years old) in 90 minutes :)) thank you! Now onto the 100 prosperity vid to see who I missed. Keep it up!

Great run, and great commentary! You probably have the most relaxing voice of any speedrunner I've ever heard lol.
I spent my whole childhood to beat this game and you did it in 1hr 30min.. my life was a lie
I played this all the time as a child, and it was amazing to watch this run. I learned a lot about the game, stuff 8 yr old me couldn't figure out. I'm gonna play this now.
Fantastic mixture of being informative and also really chill.
You've got a super soothing voice, this is the perfect video to drift off to

Challenge accepted!!!!!!! You destroyed this game and I was in shock an awe about how you smashed this game.
49:23 - I think the street sign thing is a mistranslation or something, referring to a dojo's sign.
If a dojo loses a challenge for its sign, it is considered dishonored and may have to close down...if I am recalling correctly.
1:08:12 wait what?
elemental advantages exist in Digimon World?
it's 2022, and I never knew that
Back in the old days I managed to reclutate many digimon.
Smooth and proper run. I lik'd your explanations about the game and his mechanics. Very good stuff there.
Wow, awesome run! You are great and your commentary is very nice and helpful! Great job!
I love this game, in that way how they did it. When Digimon World 2 came out.. guys, I never expect so much hate. A system like in pokemon. No connection anymore to the digimon or something like that..
Nice run congrats man! but that poor Birdramon :(
Thank you for your speedruns!
You might wanna check it out: digimonworldre.wordpress.com/
sparsie115 checked it out. awesome. seems like everything one could ask for in a remake/sequel.
My Digimon always turned into poop
Same I never knew why it used to frustrate the fuck out of me
WoW you are the first in the world truly, with 1h 19m 54s ! Congratulations man, I enjoyed watching this gameplay a lot !
Loved this game when I was younger. Nice run!
Awesome! This gave me a quick reminder for when my copy finally turns up! It's been 15 years! :D
Good job on your speedrun. And excellent, excellent commentary! :D
I'm still looking for an emulator to run this but every single one I've got is missing the bios and as I'm not really a computer person i don't know where to go or to get them can someone help?
First time i watch a speedrun from start i finish. Fantastic work! 👏🏻
Thanks for running this game, love it and wanna stream this game soon. Cheers! Gg!
As of today the speed run is 129.45. Only just beating this one. Used to play this a lot as a kid. Will definitely be getting back on it. Timeless classic that still looks good for how old it is. Thanks for uploading this. Brilliant upload 😊
It has actually been 1:03:48 for 7 months by now.
Wow... I played this game as a kid and loved it even though I was terrible at it! It took him 13 minutes to accomplish more than I ever have in any run! This is great!
I had no idea you could beat it with only a champion. I've never been able to keep my digimon alive sadly... but if I can get a new copy, after watching this, I know I can do better!
why do you keep changing the position of the itens in the bag??
I know this is mega old, but great video. It was nice to come back to this old world, even if it was only watching!
Oh my goat I remember this. I spend so much time playing this. And personally I think this is the best Digimon game ever.
31:10 I had no idea that was there
Ive owned this game since its release when my mom bought it fro me as a birthday gift. It was beautiful back then, last time I played it I just kept training more and more digimon for the PvP collection, but with noone to play against I stopped playing it after a couple of years of fun.
Very entertaining and i love your explanations, nice speedrun man!
Im excited to watch this playthrough!
I love Digimon
Shit, the cave will open in 5 days regardless of you moving any dirt? I am never moving dirt for another playthrough again. Half-way to the entrance of the cave, gotta poop...
Well, you're losing easy stats training there.
Jobson Gilberto Barros Amorim actually, you easily out do the stats gained by training and fighting
InfernalDalek nope it will be 1 day._.
Its efficient stats because it takes less time than actual training. Id still do it if you're doing a casual playthrough.
No, you can unlock the cave in 1 day if you remove the dirt, plus you will gain 5000 bits 500 HP, 50 OF, 50 Df...which is pretty helpful at the beginning of the game
Wow, I could never figure this game out as a kid. You make it look easy! Glad to see awesome people like you speedrunning this thing.
This was my favorite game growing up.
Hey, I loved the video dude. Great commentary!
I loved this game but I never got very far as my digimon would always end up turning to poo :(
+Wolfjack85 Yours too eh
nice dude it was very funand nostalgic to watch this while working
Hey sparsie, what have you been up too these days? Long time since your last video. Cheers/
I have a lot more theories about type-interactions, but as I said I have no evidence aside from personal experience yet and don't want to spread misinformation :P
sparsie115 Well, alright. Thanks, and good luck. ^^
We miss you and the content you gave us.
This is extremely impressive
Thank you once again for your comment :P To answer your questions:
The movement until Amida Forest is indeed completely planned out to make sure I get the Autopilot and that also includes the same Agumon fight, yeah.
Thanks, for the answers. I can't believe every input has to be perfect for that much of the game, absolutely crazy :D
genial video, muchas gracias que casi lloro al ver el final de un juego que tantas veces comencé pero nunca termine por uno o mil motivos mas, muchas gracias !
Yo, GOOD SHIT Sparsie, you sir have waaaaay more patience than normal gamey-nerdy people.
I've always wanted to see a merathon of the game, perhaps you learn a good safe route and go to AGDQ!! =D
I smell a Filth digimon incentive.
If metal Mamemon would've spawned, do you think it would help or hurt the run? (yeaa, chances are really bad but...)
Also, love the way you say Sand yanmanon.
So it's probably not gonna happen anytime soon :(
As for Metal Mamemon: With the route I'm using here, he wouldn't have helped the run if he spawned. On the first visit I don't have time to fight him, since I need to enter Factorial Town at the right timing. And for the second visit, all of the remaining Digimon adding up to 3 Prosperity-Points are faster to get at that point. Basically, if he spawned I would have simply walked past him and continued the run regularly :D
nice run man. also many memories playing this when I was a child :( . Amazing game
If I move around my items, it's for the sake of convenience, or for the sake of going fast :p
sparsie115 Thank you very much for answering sparsie I have another question if you have a clue :
playing the game on epsxe emulator sometimes the game glitches during digivolution, and sprites become all black. ?
Destiny108☆
Haven't used epsxe in a while, but iirc...
Go to Config > Video > Configure and set Texture Filtering to 0, Off-Screen drawing to 1, Framebuffer effects to 0 and Framebuffer upload to 1. That might fix it, if not I have no clue, sorry.
sparsie115 Ok thanks
the softlock you mentioned at 1:25:50 happened to me at the greylord's mansion encounter with devimon
This is wicked impressive, you should be proud of this! Amazing run
Which Champion Digimon yield only 1 point when recruiting them?
All of the "filth"-Digimon: Sukamon, Nanimon and Numemon.
I really wanna make a video on speed running digimon world at some point. Still one of my favourite games to this day.
I used PSX 2.0 as emulator.
use ePSXe, romhustler should have working game files.
I get stuck at machindramon... When he spawns and the Battle begins, it just gets stuck on BATTLE! Any idea why, and more importantly, how do I fix it? I couldn't find anything by googling it...!
Thanks in advance
Great speed run! Really enjoyed watching it =D
“This is currently a WR”, “this is a... Pretty decent run”, that modesty tho
OH MY GOD.
I may have to revisit this...
Great memories c:
is there something to hunt for ?
like rare stats or colors like in pokemon for example ?
"do you have any friends"
"no"
;(
Just imagine getting this game when it releases, and you don't own a save cartridge for your Playstation!
I'm currently playing this game and I'd like to know if there is any site that has info about it like which digimon should I fight to get powers and stuff...
it's actually an all-in-one pc with a cd drive underneath the monitor.
Yes that's what item boxes are
There was a glitch where you can continuously use the finish once you done it once if you rapidly click L1+R1 and then Square again
Oh i you could fight machinedramon twice :D
Man i played so much this game, that i had almost every digivolution :D
My favorite PS One game! ♥
+Scott2781 yours?
+Valkyra Sonara (Kyra) So not Resident Evil 1,2,3? Silent Hill? Final Fantasy XIII? Parasite Eve 2? Dino Crisis? Crash Bandicoot?Etc
No. This one. Yours?
It's insane how fast you beat the game and the tricks you used I've beat the game many a time but never have tested my skills with a speed run been playing this game since I was 5
Very nice speed run and commentary ^_^
52:00 how did u past thru that without talking to those guys?
If you enter Factorial Town 5 seconds before or after 12:00 PM/AM, the guards won't be there.
Everytime I play Digimon world I go with Tyranomon and then I go to megadramon is that a good way to do a run with?
( I took notes of this myself) also I noticed you trained at the sukamon mp place if you had used a super carot you would had gotten alot more mp =)
I have never actually though of speed running digimon world this way you did it.
Took me like 2 years to beat the game and I regret nothing.
you're so good! Thank you for that I felt that feelings again. :) Your run is so nice! I hope you touch more people's heart. :)
I know this is really late, but this was fascinating to watch!
Wait, he didn't talk to tankmon in toy town how seadramon appered?
What are you saying after 1:31:02? "i'm actually getting lucky with....... ??"
David
Lucky with rolls
As in damage rolls. It randomly rolls from eg 1300-1800 damage, and he’s getting hit for like 1400 instead of 1800 so that’s pretty lucky damage rolls
Aaah, i see, thanks for the answer :)
bring back so many memories!
"it's good for everything" it says
The sagefruit give 20+ brain
there is also a rare RedBerry (only found 2 in 65 years), powerIce (rare item dropped), speedleaf (speed+20), Icemushroom, blueapple, priklepear (less fat), they are rare ^^ I had a screenshot with all item, I finished the game and kept every chips and rare stuff :D
In the game you can find:
HP chip 11
MP chip:9
Off chip: 10
Def chip: 8
Speed chip: 8
Brain chip: 7
Cool speedrun, thanks for uploading it. It highlights one of the problems of the game imo : you have to shower your digimon with healing and MP objects to get anywhere in the game. It makes every victory feel cheap! Except maybe the Garurumon fight, but this one is random as fuck - even if your digimon has the potential to beat him he'll sometimes get annihilated because his timing wasn't right or because he doesn't manage to kill Garurumon before his ultra.
