10 years later, still showed up on my recommendations and good that it did! Great run and a super entertaining commentary. Felt a bit proud when you said "there is no way a kid would figure all this out" after unlocking the first secret exit. This was the first console game I ever played, back in 1997, 7 years old. Had no internet but managed to somehow get 100%. Probably took forever 😅
Two brothers just chilling and talking about Crash Bandicoot 2 in general and its speedrunning techniques makes for such a lovely time watching this video, I love it!! I'm halfway through it and it feels like time's flying
Really well done. This was the first speed run video which I've watched I've watched others and they don't compare to this. I like how you both bring in facts or glitches a player may have not known. Keep up the good work and keep the commentary team the same. Forget what the haters say. Good stuff!
+MrBean35000vr *tries to play normally* ugh *does slide spin, glitch high jump, and wiggle* wait this ain't a speedrun, but maybe I should do a speedrun.
This is one of the greatest commentaries I've heard of a speedrun. I like that it's recorded after it's played, so that they're not stressed out. Often times, it'd be nice to watch the gameplay without some obnoxious commentary, but this is brilliant.
I think I have watched this run about 3-4 times and I am always satisfied. The commentary along with the amazing gameplay makes this easily in the top 5 runs in my opinion.
I just got this in my recommended and got 50 minutes in before looking at the date. The fact that a speedrun like this is 10 years old is just insane, really holds up
People laugh at me when I tell them I still love to play PS1 games, but you know, the graphics may suck but I love it, and games like these are classics.
Wow. I thought I knew my all time favourite game. This not only made me feel like a newbie with playing the game, but it also taught me new tricks I didn't even know existed (like the running at the top of Piston it Away and the "wiggle" jump, I knew I wasn't insane with thinking that wiggling the controller helped and yet i felt silly!). Also, that Brio ending with him getting trapped in a cyclone had me laughing super hard. Great video and great commentary.
I think I have watched you two do this at least 10 times I love that it's two brothers together Reminds me of me and my brother where we were younger The commentary is brilliant! Thank you guys
Something about the fact that you're brothers and both knowledgeable about crash speedrunning is really funny to me. Wish my siblings and I had that kind of dynamic. The tidbits of mechanics along with the natural chemistry of the banter made this a really fun watch.
Still, it took an awful long time for that dynamic to emerge. When we were younger, he and I were constantly at war with each other. It took growing up and mellowing out for us to finally go, "Yeah, this dude's actually pretty cool" and thus a proper friendship started to emerge. It does help we have relatively similar hobbies, though, heheh. Maybe the same will happen with you and your siblings, you never know what the future will bring. Anyways, glad you enjoyed!
I actually watched both of your Crash 2 runs this week, because they are an absolute pleasure to watch. Nostalgia and speed-running talent aside, your commentaries are always really interesting and incredibly down to earth. Your enthusiasm and humour is a real breath of fresh air when it comes to gaming commentaries, especially speed run commentaries.
Even though I've been a gamer for over 22 years, this is the first speedrun I'm witnessing today. HOLY HELL YOU ARE BLOWING MY MIND - literally (with your masterful skill), because you're making me rethink the countless hours I 100% this game with a friend back when I was 9 when this game first came out. Thanks for posting the vid, and I look forward to exploring more speedruns of my favorite childhood games!
This run is really entertaining! Unfortunately many speedruners are very quiet and concentrated and don't talk much. And I really like commentary on speedrunnnig techniques and yout Video is exacly that :)
I don't know who you watch, but most I watch seem to talk a fair amount. They don't start to get quiet/focus unless it's a possible urn which only happens maybe 1-2 times max in a streaming session.
I think I speak for a lot when I say I'm extremely grateful for you toning down the game volume this time. It really gave us a great appreciation the commentary just like last time. Only this time, it was much easier to hear you guys, which was especially helpful considering at times, you guys talk faster than an auctioneer on coffee. Amazing run, bean. Looks like sub 1:20 is a solid new goal. Hope to see more from you.
This was awesome, thanks guys. This was my favourite game when I was young. Still can't believe you ended with 60+ lives without even doing the bear trick in warp 2.
I'm going to come back and comment on this video every time I watch it until we get another glorious dual commentary crash 2 run. NST be damned, OG is the best. 22Jun23
This video inspired me to buy Crash 2 and a PS2 and learn 100%. I loved the commentary so much that I wanted to be able to do it too. Crazy how shaving off another 8 minutes took 2 years
The amount of precision is immense. The requirement for perfection is high and maintaining a constant run at that quality .. is great. The greatest compliments you will receive is the admiration from gamers who are in envy of your skill :)
26:24 So THAT'S how I beat the game completely with 98%! I'm really glad you guys explained that, because I had no idea why or how that had happened. Awesome run, by the way. You guys are great commentators.
I was just looking through crash bandicoot videos on YT, and happened to stumble across this beauty, this is so nice. It's hard to find speedrunners that do good commentaries on their runs too, so thank you for that.
Excellent speed run, loved every minute of it. Throughout the run I was like yeah that's right, yeah that's it! Nobody else I know seems to understand all the tiny bits and pieces, so glad to have found this!
So entertaining to watch, thats literally the only speedrun that Ive watched in one sitting. Awesome commentary really really helpful for me attempting my own speedrun, thanks for the awesome video
This is so awesome! I grew up with Crash 2 and I love how you guys actually talk through the tricks that you're using as you're playing, as well as where the hidden paths are! A lot of runs I've seen tend to use gamer terms for the tricks used and I never understand what they mean, nor what you need to do in order to perform them.
It was incredible to be there as you made the run. I'm glad you managed to hold your composure :P Great job on the run, hopefully you go after the 1:20 sub!
Well I have to thank you myself. Without this whole speedrunning mess the 100% category of this run would look much different and at the end of the day I probably wouldn't have my own disc of this game. Thanks for that once again!
Somehow I always come back here because this is, my personal opinion, the best speedrun ever: really fast, completely satisfying and great and funny commentary
I was at the stream when you set this time, and I watched through the whole video. Great commentary Bean and Chadderz. These new strats in Road to Ruin and Hangin' Out were crazy. The best part is that there's still time to be saved too.
Awesome man, i found these secrets when i was little, but seeing it you do it, makes me feel nostalgic and proud that i even found 3 of them :D. I watched the whole speedrun and you are very good, i did the technique as a child with the dashspin move :). Awesome vid and nice commentary, i really enjoyed it ^^!+

This is mad! I used to play Crash Bandicoot back on the PS2 and i never knew there was all this easter eggs and secrets! I didn't even know people could do it this fast aha! Mad video.
This is one of the coolest Crash 2 speed runs I've seen. (Crash 2 is my favorite game of all time.) I'm no where near as close as your time, but I know I "cheat" with the dark levels by adjusting the screen lightly since the pits are easy to spot same with the enemies.
Years later, still love the commentary on this video, even if it's not the wr. It's not just an impressive speedrun; it's bloody good entertainment. Also, one thing the remastered CB 2 fails at, imo, is the soundtrack. Road to Ruin sounds so much better in the original than the remaster. Pretty game, soundtrack could've used work.
I saw this video 6 years ago and youtube decided to recommend it for me again, I forgot how fun it was to watch your stream, now I am wondering what are you guys up to these days
Nowdays, I'm mostly streaming Mario Kart Wii. It's been a while since I last played Crash 2, although me and Chadderz did do a live commentary of the recent 100% TAS of the game, for a bit of fun and as a nostalgia trip. That's over on my Twitch if you're curious, in the highlights section.
i beat this game when i was 5 years old and had no idea how in depth the gameplay was. this was amazing seeing how there are secret areas that need near perfection to get to. i salute to some true gamers
this brought back great memories watched this many times. when he remastered version comes out i might speed run it if they don't patch all movement glitches
It's a huge AVS script that I wrote, involving a lot of miniature video clips and images. Indeed, it was all added afterwards, I went through the original video looking for the frames on which certain things happened and made the interface update based on that.
