Good informational video Rod. I recently came into the market for my 1st saw, I got tired of borrowing my father's. I had a very hard time deciding between the Husqy 562 and STIHL MS 362. Ultimately it came to three things that helped me make my decision to purchase the Husqy. 1. The Husqy's handle has a slightly steeper angle and it just felt more comfortable for me to hold 2. Husqy offered a 4 year warranty with purchase of 3 of their mixed fuel cartridges over STIHL's two year warranty 3. The crew in where I purchased the saw are good guys, my Dad has dealt with them over the years and they've always taken care of him. I also bought the Powerbox, and I must say that is a must! It keeps the saw from rolling and moving around when driving. I really wanted to buy the STIHL initially, after I got my hands on them though, my choice changed. I love my Husqy, its a screamin machine that doesn't slow down for much.
Rod, thank you for one of the most professional equipment reviews that I have seen. Plenty of content and direct comparison between two pro saws. Very helpful
Very refreshing to see a video with someone who knows what there actually talking about Thank you! And to this day my 562xp has given my superb service
Nice straight up comparison. I'm a Stihl guy mostly dealer network near me but Husky makes great saws. Can't go wrong either way. Get tired of each bashing the other. Ford and Chevy.
Get the GoPro out of the skeleton case and get the bare frame with lens protector. It GREATLY improves Audio! Then switch to a Medium field of view at 720 and 30 frames per second. I know, I sound like a broken record, but you'll be amazed at the improved audio and video quality. Another very well presented and unbiased review Rod! Thanks! Zip~
I'm in the market to buy a chainsaw for the first time, and have a lot of newbie questions. Your videos are such a big help. Like your to the point and direct approach Rod. Thank you!
Nice review. I have heard good feedback for both saws but the overall consensus seems to be that the 562 handles better and feels lighter than the 362. I always prefered the handlebar on Huskies vs. Stihls.
Just bought an Echo cs 620 pw. Love it. Same class of saw , but a new 362 is $950. The Echo was $600. Better warranty, no auto tune, no crappy gas caps and smooth running.
I have been welding for close to 30 years and I am tired of it. Starting a new business forestry and land management. Been researching Husqvarna and Stihl to make the best purchase. Been using Stihl for years but something keeps drawing me to Husqvarna. You seem to know the products you sell and from what you said think I will give Husqvarna a try. Thanks for the info.
Excellent Video, Rod. Very thorough and well done. Please, make more if you get the chance And, I do believe that I bought a 455 Rancher from you about a year and a half ago. Excellent saw and excellent PRICE. Thank you!!
Thank you for the video and for also including explanation of potential problems. I think I'll be buying a 562xp from my local retailer this week. Because of your video, I'll take more time sharpening the chain and keeping fresh gas in it. Doing my due diligence now by watching/reading reviews. We have 100-year-old bur oaks to buck, and more in the future. Buy a great tool, swear about it the day you buy it. Buy a cheap tool, swear about it every time you use it.
Great video rod. I'm trying to decide on the 362 vs 562 and I think i'm going with the husky based on your video. Very intelligent and thoughtful comments. It was great. Turn up the sound next time.
You’re quite welcome ! We were in business for over 30 years and the experience in my shop exceeded 100 . We had somebody come along and wanted to buy our building & ground so we sold. I’m going to make a video in the near future and let some serious cats out of the bag about industry secrets from All the manufacturers that we dealt with
Nice overview of these two saws. A comment... the Stihl issue with the throttle linkage is simply because the plastic bearing surface the operating rod has to rotate on and support itself when pushing on the throttle linkage under the carb. Same with a few of those models like the 391. A Systemic issue across models along with a much more complex system of levers and fulcrum points. Hoping Stihl puts a more durable bearing surface in that spot at a minimum! Also neither are fuel injected...both use electric over carburetor's to effect the mixture. The "heat" related issues on the 562 are worse with the earlier ones than the latest, and I believe there are more changes on the way. I open a cooling hole in the top cover clutch side right next to where the handle is. Have a hunch you might see some interesting updates over the next couple of month's if Husqvarna continues as they typically do updating and upgrading their models. ....:) I use a 32:1 oil mix and even on the earliest versions like my 555 don't have issues. Hope you recommend at least 40:1 vs. the typical 50:1, that alone will keep saws from coming back...any brand. Also Husqvarna really has more time working out the tuning issues...from el44 to el48's! My bet is Stihl has to go through a similar learning curve AND will....the question to me is how hard it will be to upgrade older saws to newer specs. With the 562, after the change to the 6 screw case pretty much any update retro's right on to those saws. Time will tell with the Stihl's....they are pretty early in the learning curve.....both really nice machines. Thanks for the overview
+afleetcommand I'll comment on your "32:1" fuel mix. First, oil has come light years in technology in the last 20 years. Second, the cooling of an air cooled engine is enhanced by the fuel, the less oil in the mix the cooler the charge. So, 100:1 , although leaner a mix ratio, is a much cooler charge ratio. 50:1 mix oils have a lot of wiggle room and are the Richest mix ratio we recommend. We have used 100:1 for years with out any problems and upon tear-down and inspections see better wear than at 50:1.
Rod I'm super glad you know this. This right here sold me on you being a well rounded intelligent salesman and mechanic. Running 32 or 40:1 is going to do nothing but plug up the mufflers and exhaust ports. Fuel is what keeps the bearings cool and oil lubricates theme. A hot bearing with a lot of oil will fail way sooner than a cool bearing with less oil.
Love the video, honest about everything. Just picked up a "facelift" 362c-m and one thing I noticed is that the AV system isn't worth a crap. Have you had any complaints? I own a 201T, 270, 661, and as A climber use all kinds of saws at work, none of them vibrate as much as my new 362 though. Just broke it in earlier today "video soon", and my hands were numb 2/3 through each tank.
When the video started there was too much background talking! (I almost didn't watch the rest.) I am glad l ended up learning helpful specific details!
i guess these new computer saws are good? then again i have to drive down the mountain and up the lake 6 miles to get cell or internet. i know with a small box of parts and a bit of knowledge my 044 will be up and running 4 sure 100% balls on singing. when the answer is "bring it down and we will flash the update to make ur saw run" maybe its not for everyone. whats my 044? maybe 13 lbs and a touch over 5hp? what do they offer at 13lbs or 5+hp that beats it? thanks guys. rik
finally video that what was i searching for, keep doing that ist great abd helps a lot when u want to buy new stuff but sooo curius what ist better so u dont will lose money
Thanks Rod,- Great video! I think you made a lot of intelligent comments!! Maybe you can make more comparison's down the road and post them if you have time.
Mtronics isnt fuel injected. Its electronic carburetion. Best way to overcome that overheating issue on the autotunes is a minor mod to the shroud. Alot of husky dealers will do it for u
Info good. audio poor. The primer is good when you run out of fuel. also neither of the saws are "Fuel Injected" they just adjust the A/F ratio and primary jets of the carb. its bad to list them as FI saws. I've Fell over 600 cords of wood at 10,000' in a year and a half with my 562XP and have had zero problems.
Another excellent video! You guys rock! I have learned so much from your videos and I’ve been using chainsaws or power saws as we used to call them for 30+ years Thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us. How do I support your channel? Patreon? Amazon links?
Just to clarify..... m-tronic... is NOT fuel injected..... it is still a carburetor.... just the mixture is computer controlled with little servos on the adjuster screws.... although stihl does have actual injected equipment... ms500i and their masonry chain saw (I forget the model)..
I run a 562XP and a Stihl 261CM. Yes, the 261CM is a little smaller, but there is no comparison when it comes to cutting. I actually put a 16-inch bar on the 261CM and made it my limbing saw after running the 562XP. On a side note, I'm a Stihl guy, but damn, I don't know what they did to that 562XP... that thing is a screaming banshee.
I miss the shop I grow up by the shop do you go to get togethers around here do you still have things to sell I have saws I like to sell I got some hot saws not for sell but you may like to see them
Banshee365 I’m seriously considering the cs620p. Always been a stihl guy but gah their new saws are just so much money. I can get a cs620p for 500 bucks when echo does their 20% off sale day one day only sale at my dealer. You can’t tell me for the money that these two saws here in the video are THAT much better and factoring in cost.
Hey guy, Not sure if it's at your end or mine but your audio is way low. Watched a couple of your videos and they are the same. Like the videos but can hardly hear u. Thanks man.
Good video! Just hard to hear you. With me overall its the stihl ms362. They have better bars and saw chains also....Also they now have angled cylinder and new auto air filter. Also no plastic cover straps to break.

Both are winter saw !!!! Both can't handle continuous work or intense heat , husqvarna 562 keeps blowing off the muffler over heats also ! Stihl has bad cooling fans , over heats and acts up at end of fuel cycle, then piston rings go out ? My opinion on all around saw would be husqvarna 372 xp before 2012 and stihl 360 or 036 , these two are the best saws before 2012 ! For some odd reason the old models out last the new models !!!
Very good video... however - I have a great deal of experience and after doing a lot of homework an comparison I am replacing my beloved old 034 super (60cc) going with the husqevarna 372 w/o electronic chipped carb --- the husky 372 is 70cc and is available with an old school carb... to hell with the chipped solenoided carb I say. old school husky 372 is an easy choice
I buy stihl 500 hot saws for cutting concrete and rebar. They are the best made hot saw money can buy hands down. they have perfected the m tronic in my opinion. when it comes to chain saws, we buy husqvarna, because they have not given us any problems. Husky chain saws have just kept on running to the point I can't buy a new one because the stupid 455 won't die, I went and bought two husky saws anyway. good thing to complain about.

The 562XP is a ripper, for sure. You will notice an improvement after "break-in".
For what it’s worth I’ve had no issues with my 562 after 50 plus trees. Saw amazes me every time I use how quickly it cuts.

They are kind of made for this lazy generation that doesn’t clean the filter. So it corrects the fuel ratio as people don’t clean the air filter.
Very well done.. but for now I'll keep my 357xp. It's my firewood saw.
