For years I ran a 3120 Jungle and a 562, which nothing in the middle. Feel like the 562 punches above it’s weight. Now, I’ve thrown in a 592 and a 576 (fully reworked by Steve’s Saw Shop in Lolo, MT). That ported 576 has become my grab n’ go saw for most stuff. Think the arsenal is full for a bit.
it's an external clutch. yes disengage the break first! been running 562 since they came out 10+years ago. nice new air filter. the switch rules. you don't need to flip it down. just touch the throttle. easy peasy. pulls a 28' skip no problem
Chris - not sure if all the xp models start the same way, but I made the mistake of using the decompression to start my 562xp when it was hot. I had to let the saw cool down and then do the cold start procedure - I had to watch a YT video to figure out what I did wrong and why my saw would not restart - Now that I know how to properly restart the saw, I love cutting with it and my Stihl MS291 doesn’t see the light of day - I knew you had an issue with the brake - ask me how I know - enjoy the journey - cheers
Also something I’ve learned with these saws, if you’ve loosened the nuts completely rather than re threading them to dis engage the brake, push the clutch cover with your right hand towards the top of the cover close to the brake, use your left hand to pull back on the brake and it’ll dis engage it
If you put the choke on and then tap it lightly down it will slightly It holds a high idle so you don’t have to hold the throttle when starting And then when you pull the throttle it’ll go back to normal. I love my 562! I just milled some oak with it!
I got the 562 because I could cover such a nice range of bar lengths. I have no issues from 20-28 inch felling or bucking. And some days it is nice to be able to stand up and buck!
Hi Ken , nice saw ! The 562 also has the large mount bar that will interchange with the rest of the fleet . The 550 has the small mount bar . Good choice . 😀
400cm fits right in between the 572xp and 562xp. Even though I've come to like Huskies better, the 400cm might be the saw I'd keep if I could have only one for most everything. If not a 400cm, the the 572xp. Not much you cant do with a 70cc saw! So many great saws!!!
The bar lock thing happened to me as well. On my 460 Rancher I was able to get the cover off finally however it would not go back on. I finally found a UA-cam video that showed how to reset the spring on the cover so it would go back together. That looks like a great size saw.
I’ve had my 562xp since 2014 . I make 16-18 cords a year and it has given very little trouble. Oil pump warm gear is out right now, just waiting on parts. The air cleaner system on your new saw looks much nicer than the earlier ones like mine. Good luck with it I’m sure your going to love it!
I did the same with my 562 so I’m watching you and saying it’s the chain brake😂😂 great saw. I don’t have a bigger saw but I cut some big Aussie hardwood with it and it never lets me down. Touch wood lol
I love my husky 560xp saw cuts awesome and way faster then my 45cc saw. I put a 24” bar on mine as I’m just started doing fire wood and getting big trees. Love your videos Chris keep it up!
That filter is new for the 562XP. Its supposed to be better than the previous. The one I have lets too much stuff get by and screwed up mine. I have to rebuild the engine and get an adaptor kit to mount that filter unit. Not really complaining I ran the bejeezus out of the saw but changing out of the original style filter could save a major rebuild.
Yeah that brake/cover system … you have to know that works in reverse too. I didn’t know and was changing my chain out in the woods and couldn’t get the cover back on. By the time I was done I had completely removed the chain brake safety feature from the cover. Found out maybe a few months later why I couldn’t reassemble the saw … Probably should get a new cover because I’ve been running without that safety for a few years now …
I enjoy my 562XP...my smallest saw with full wrap handle & dual dogs... Northwest setup not bad in smaller timber...like your video take care...Shoe Ps....seen 562xp...since 2012...first in the 500 series....first ones were troublesome...now there a pretty good saw.
Nice new saw! You forgot to teach Kenny how to put oil and gas in his new saw. Oil first, gas second. The saw can’t run without gas but it can run without oil and ruin the saw.
I have the T540iXP battery top handle, 550XP Mark II, 562XP new filter version like yours, 572XP, 592XP, 395XP. The 550 Mark II is probably my most used and the smaller chain is great. Don’t fear the smaller chain it cuts faster. The 562XP was my second to last saw and it is great but when you have a 550XP Mark II and a 572XP you can skip the 562XP. I also agree the 395XP is a pig and wears you out compared to the 592XP. You will love the 5 series saw Ken, they are better.
Congratulations on the new saw, Ken! She is absolutely beautiful! It was nice of your brother to find some 592 wood for you to break it in with!🤣🤣 I often wonder how many guys have bought saws that were to big because of UA-cam and bragging rights? 60cc is a great class for a firewood saw! Enjoy...👍
Oh...It was awesome to have met you at the show as well. Thanks for making the long trip and so glad you guys had a great time and plan to come back again!
@@thefirewooddoctorThe 572 is an awesome saw also... I usually grab a 50,60 and 70cc saw when heading out. A guy has about all his bases covered that way. Occasionally though...the big artillery needs to get the cobwebs blown out them! The 500I is a perfect example...So many were sold and now guys are seeing that the 400 was overlooked in the 500 Hoopla and is actually the better all around firewood saw. The UA-camrs that have both all seem to be grabbing the 400 more and more and leaving the heavier 500I in the shop!👍
@@waynetharp, I'd get the 462 over the 500i. The new Stihl 400 is a pretty sweet little saw. If I was a Stihl man, I'd get one over bith the 362 and 462. And probably get a second 400 as backup.
Forgot to mention yesterday All the 5 series have greaseable needle bearing. Meaning on the clutch in the middle you’ll see a tiny hole Take your bar tip grease gun and shoot it in there So easy And lots of 5 series have been around since 2013 or so My 562 was a 2014 model
they hold heat badly all of them do a lot of guys trim back top cover over exhaust gut muffler add frogskin vents on rear of cover to prevent hot start issues I have done these mods on my newer 550 xp mark ii made a huge difference these saws are pretty nice after some cheap diy improvements
Seems like it would be easy to pick just one saw, easier to keep up with than a pickup load of saws! Ya' pick the one that makes a WalMart worth of noodles!! Only thing is, it should have more cc's than your birthdays!! - It looked to me like Kenny was trying to 'break-in' the saw by only using the primer bulb! Might work, but a poor way to make noodles!! He did show me a better way to quarter the big rounds, cut from both sides, and stop at 4 pieces!! That's gonna save me some chains, and some backaches!! Just a reminder, because Kenny didn't mention it, If you're a real firewooder, and you got plenty of noodles, Christmas is coming up. You can become a celebrity by giving multiple store bags of noodles wrapped with a bow!! I'm sure Kenny or Chris would've mentioned it if they hadn't forgotten. And it's a good way to kickstart karma!!
You were talking about you wish echo would make a professional saw. They have an entire line of pro saws. I would put my 501p 2511p 7310pw or 6 620pw against anything husky or stihl offers. I have owned nearly all of them.
I recently bought a “ Husqvarna - Bidón Combi para Combustible (5 L) y aceite (2.5 L)” It fills iol and gas with ease and no spills! Wish i knew about it years ago
I was thinking “chain brake” - how would I know? Well as you say: if you haven’t done it, you haven’t cut much wood. KBO as Churchill was fond of saying.
I limb with my seven pound MS194T and fell and buck with my 592xp. I'd also bring my 550xp for medium trees. No way would I go out with only one saw no matter what I was told LOL.
What great timing for this video. I am thinking of another saw and was looking into the 562 Xp. Yes, my Stihl leaks bar oil and I always have to store it on its side. Can you confirm it's a 60 cc saw. Website shows 4.79 hp so I converted it to cc's and I get 71cc's. Also, website shows up to a 28" bar. Will the 562 Xp easily pull that size bar? I would like to be able to stand up and buck as I have a bad back. Thanks !!!
Hey Chris . You keep commenting bout Stihl chainsaws leaking gas and oil from poor gas cap design… I have two saws that DO NOT Leak . Just sayin …. Love your videos. Craig Pa
It isn't if...It is when! They will eventually start leaking and enjoy cleaning up the mess. Their gas caps were so over engineered it isn't even funny. Yet they can not seem to swallow their pride and go back to atleast the old design...
Awesome Saw. I bought my 562Xp this spring and glad I did. Much faster than my 460 Rancher. And like you said, perfect saw for a guy cutting 10-15 cords for himself every year. Keep up the great content! Always good to see Kenny. GNI!
a de-compression valve on a 60cc saw? and not a fan that it never 4-strokes, it over revs in and out of wood. an auto-tune thing? i'll stick with my sachs/dolmar/makita with a 24 inch k095 husky bar for a 60 cc saw.
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. You know I am a great Super Splitter fan and can only dream about being able to source one this side of the pond. If I lived in the US of A and wanted to start out in the firewood business I would purchase one as my main splitting machine and also a Champion 27 ton to be used vertically to break down bigger rings that could then be readily resplit on the Super Splitter. The investment in splitting capability would be circa $5k, which would be the springboard to provide the cashflow to consider a bigger investment in splitting equipment when the time was right. PS - please give us more travelling footage when delivering as I love seeing what normal life is like over there.
Yup, grow as you can afford to. Life here is great, we have freedom, sort of, or at least for a little while yet, wait.... they are trying to stop what we have left now too!
@@InTheWoodyard Yes you have freedom, you have to fight for it and not let leftitst and wokists take the US over. Here in France and in Europe we're even not allowed to think any more, censorship is everywhere and thinking "too loud" brings you to court.

Typical men “don’t read the directions”. Kenny you better check your nuts you constantly keep loosing them! Can’t wait to give that 562 a try! Stay safe boys👍TCT
You guys are awesome!....... after watching the video on the comparison of 3 saws just wondered if I should buy the 372XP or 562XP for a 24" bar setup? Currently have the 550 XP, but would like a saw for the somewhat bigger wood. The vast majority of what I'm cutting being 20" or less in diameter at butt. Just trying to figure out if the the extra power is worth the extra weight and fuel? I'm going to be 52 this year, but back and arms still strong ! LOL
Thank you for all your hard work, I have a probably controversial question. I've cut wood like you all for years and used shorter bars but I surely would like to try bucking with a longer bar. The 562 has a 28in bar in it's recommendations what are your thoughts on that...Thank You!
My opinion is a 20" is best for it, faster chain speed and with a smaller saw that I would use for limbing that is the size I would want and for a home owner saw that is all you need , a 20" bar gives you a 40" cut on 97.53915% of any tree you might get to cut down.
It is a nice saw, you might want to look at the 550 also. But if you really want to upgrade get a bigger saw, the 572 would be my pick hands down the best all around saw.
It was a new saw out of the box with a totally different system than any of the other 30-35 saws we have had over the last 30 years. Now we know. Others have told us the same thing happened to them too.
A question, what is the maximum length of time for seasoning wood? Is it 2 years, 3 or what? When is it too dry? Thank you for your time and attention. Big fan from 🇨🇦 Canada.
If it is kept dry most wood is good for 2-3 years, bugs can get to it and turn it to powder. eventually..hickory,maple,birch,box elder and some others are like that but wood like oak will last longer than any of us if kept dry!

They work nice.
Think the arsenal is full for a bit.
sounds nice!
it's an external clutch. yes disengage the break first! been running 562 since they came out 10+years ago. nice new air filter. the switch rules. you don't need to flip it down. just touch the throttle. easy peasy. pulls a 28' skip no problem
Thanks for the info!
Chris - not sure if all the xp models start the same way, but I made the mistake of using the decompression to start my 562xp when it was hot. I had to let the saw cool down and then do the cold start procedure - I had to watch a YT video to figure out what I did wrong and why my saw would not restart - Now that I know how to properly restart the saw, I love cutting with it and my Stihl MS291 doesn’t see the light of day - I knew you had an issue with the brake - ask me how I know - enjoy the journey - cheers
nice!
Also something I’ve learned with these saws, if you’ve loosened the nuts completely rather than re threading them to dis engage the brake, push the clutch cover with your right hand towards the top of the cover close to the brake, use your left hand to pull back on the brake and it’ll dis engage it
Great tip! Thanks!
If you put the choke on and then tap it lightly down it will slightly It holds a high idle so you don’t have to hold the throttle when starting And then when you pull the throttle it’ll go back to normal. I love my 562! I just milled some oak with it!
Yup, it is a nice little saw!
I got the 562 because I could cover such a nice range of bar lengths. I have no issues from 20-28 inch felling or bucking. And some days it is nice to be able to stand up and buck!
yup, it is a nice saw!
562 with a 24" light bar is a great all around saw
Yup!
Hi Ken , nice saw ! The 562 also has the large mount bar that will interchange with the rest of the fleet . The 550 has the small mount bar . Good choice . 😀
Good to know!
Yes, I'd love my 550 to have a large mount so it could run a longer bar.
400cm fits right in between the 572xp and 562xp. Even though I've come to like Huskies better, the 400cm might be the saw I'd keep if I could have only one for most everything. If not a 400cm, the the 572xp. Not much you cant do with a 70cc saw! So many great saws!!!
Yup, I would want a 572
The bar lock thing happened to me as well. On my 460 Rancher I was able to get the cover off finally however it would not go back on. I finally found a UA-cam video that showed how to reset the spring on the cover so it would go back together. That looks like a great size saw.
We got it all figured out now!
Damn that saw new saw was put through it’s paces, ripping etc
yup!
Awesome powersaw!
I couldn't decide so I went with the 572xp, sure would love to have all three you guys have there! Best wishes to you guys
Good choice! We will be back!
Thanks, it works great!
I did the same with my 562 so I’m watching you and saying it’s the chain brake😂😂 great saw. I don’t have a bigger saw but I cut some big Aussie hardwood with it and it never lets me down. Touch wood lol
It is a nice saw!
I love my husky 560xp saw cuts awesome and way faster then my 45cc saw. I put a 24” bar on mine as I’m just started doing fire wood and getting big trees. Love your videos Chris keep it up!
That is awesome!
Found out maybe a few months later why I couldn’t reassemble the saw …
Probably should get a new cover because I’ve been running without that safety for a few years now …
Thanks for the tips!!!
Yes you should!!!
I enjoy my 562XP...my smallest saw with full wrap handle & dual dogs... Northwest setup not bad in smaller timber...like your video take care...Shoe
Ps....seen 562xp...since 2012...first in the 500 series....first ones were troublesome...now there a pretty good saw.
Thanks!
Use the tractor grapple to load the trailer up with the cut down chunks for the new yard.
Yup, I might do that!
Nice new saw! You forgot to teach Kenny how to put oil and gas in his new saw. Oil first, gas second. The saw can’t run without gas but it can run without oil and ruin the saw.
Great point!
Straight up was thinking brake was on, I do it all the time 😂
Yup, we got it!
Thanks for the info!
"when you have a 550XP Mark II and a 572XP you can skip the 562XP."
That's exactly my opinion.
Looks like a real nice saw!! Congrats on your purchase Ken👍🏻👍🏻-TOA
Yup, it is!
I bought the 572xp because of Chris's videos. Is an awesome firewood saw. Sucks in the small wood that my 550xp is best suited for.
Thanks Wayne
@@waynetharp, I'd get the 462 over the 500i. The new Stihl 400 is a pretty sweet little saw. If I was a Stihl man, I'd get one over bith the 362 and 462. And probably get a second 400 as backup.
Forgot to mention yesterday
All the 5 series have greaseable needle bearing. Meaning on the clutch in the middle you’ll see a tiny hole
Take your bar tip grease gun and shoot it in there
So easy
And lots of 5 series have been around since 2013 or so
My 562 was a 2014 model
Nice! Thanks for the tip!
they hold heat badly all of them do a lot of guys trim back top cover over exhaust gut muffler add frogskin vents on rear of cover to prevent hot start issues I have done these mods on my newer 550 xp mark ii made a huge difference these saws are pretty nice after some cheap diy improvements
Good to know, thanks!
I got both 562XP & 572XP Both great saws! You going to Boon's vile NY in May ?
Yes they are. No, I do not think so.
I have the same three saws and also 550xp markll that i run 3/8"x.050 with 20inch bar. It handles it just fine so don' under estimate it.
Yup, they are good saws!
The 562xp has been plagued with bearing issues. Think the 2021 models and up have been updated to avoid those problems. Hope ur have longevity.
Thanks for the tips!
And it's a good way to kickstart karma!!
thanks
With those husky clutch cover’s you should take the rubber off blow the sawdust out of the spring and grease it
Good idea!
You were talking about you wish echo would make a professional saw. They have an entire line of pro saws. I would put my 501p 2511p 7310pw or 6 620pw against anything husky or stihl offers. I have owned nearly all of them.
Yup, I have ran them all, they do work cut.
I recently bought a
“ Husqvarna - Bidón Combi para Combustible (5 L) y aceite (2.5 L)”
It fills iol and gas with ease and no spills! Wish i knew about it years ago
nice!
The fail with the Chain Break was also my first fight with my new Hus 450 XP 🤣
great segment. appreciate the unboxing and test. you guys are a hoot....
We're just regular guys
Abbynormal!
Thanks!
New toy’s for big boy’s ya gotta love it. Keep on cutting
You got that right!
Congrats on the new saw! Is that your brother?
Yup, one of 2!
I run a 28 inch bar most the time , I do run a32 inch at times and it does very well with that also !
I like me 24" bars just fine. I have run a 28" too it works well.
That 562XP is an excellent saw, would Ken look at 24 or 28 inch bar what are your thoughts,
No, he likes the 20" bar.
Nice saw! It cuts like a beast!
Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
If you can't get the side cover off turn the side tensioner out a little bit and it should come off
It was the brake.
I was thinking “chain brake” - how would I know? Well as you say: if you haven’t done it, you haven’t cut much wood.
KBO as Churchill was fond of saying.
Yup, we figured it out!
I limb with my seven pound MS194T and fell and buck with my 592xp. I'd also bring my 550xp for medium trees. No way would I go out with only one saw no matter what I was told LOL.
Yup, more is the right number of saws!
Thanks !!!
I know guy that do use a 24" and 28" But to me a 24 " is about right. I think 60cc.
You are lucky!
Yup.
@@InTheWoodyard I won’t buy anymore new Stihls for that reason alone !
What is the best Stihl or husqvarna?
YES! The best saw is the one that runs great, has power and is sharp!
Awesome Saw. I bought my 562Xp this spring and glad I did. Much faster than my 460 Rancher. And like you said, perfect saw for a guy cutting 10-15 cords for himself every year. Keep up the great content! Always good to see Kenny. GNI!
Great to hear!
a de-compression valve on a 60cc saw? and not a fan that it never 4-strokes, it over revs in and out of wood. an auto-tune thing? i'll stick with my sachs/dolmar/makita with a 24 inch k095 husky bar for a 60 cc saw.
Okay.
I know the feeling.. I have been to shows over the years and have someone know who I am by voice (before UA-cam), and I am their long-lost friend..
Good to meet the people!
Can you put a 16 inch bar on the 562xp?
I suppose so, I would look at their web site and check the specs.
@@InTheWoodyard
Yes you have freedom, you have to fight for it and not let leftitst and wokists take the US over. Here in France and in Europe we're even not allowed to think any more, censorship is everywhere and thinking "too loud" brings you to court.
I did the same exact thing with the chain brake when I got my 562 last year
Ha! Now we know!
Great video. On the uk Husqvarna website the 562 is only .5kg or 1.1 pounds lighter than a 572 with 20” bar. Unless it’s different in USA . Maybe you should try and weight both saws in a video.
Thanks for the info!
Typical men “don’t read the directions”. Kenny you better check your nuts you constantly keep loosing them! Can’t wait to give that 562 a try! Stay safe boys👍TCT
Thanks tony
Yup, we can't read!
LOL
Get the 572! You can handle it no problem! Plus the 550 and the 562 are very close more power is always a good thing for cutting!!!!
Thanks!!!!@@InTheWoodyard
Running 24” bar on Oak and mine cuts and works perfect.
Nice!
I have 2 562s absolutely love them
They are nice saws!
Made some beautiful spaghetti strings there out of that ash she's a good runner uncuts nice
Yup, it is a nice one!
Just got the same saw for some reason mine boggs down when I accelerate it. And it's brand new. Any ideas ?
You need to ask a tech at the dealer you got it at, I would get that done asap, it should not happen.
I love my 455 but have been looking for an upgrade I'm stuck between the 555 and the 562xp I'm leaning more towards the 562xp. Is it worth it.
It is a nice saw, you might want to look at the 550 also. But if you really want to upgrade get a bigger saw, the 572 would be my pick hands down the best all around saw.
I'd like to see that chainsaw start in 0° weather
Ken lives in norther Wisconsin -30 is normal, it will start.
Had to exit when they couldn't figure the brake was on.
It was a new saw out of the box with a totally different system than any of the other 30-35 saws we have had over the last 30 years. Now we know. Others have told us the same thing happened to them too.
@@InTheWoodyard what? They stopped watching too??🤭🤣👍
Cheers lads. Just ordered mine!😁👍
Have fun!
I love my 562xp! It's my main saw.
nice!!
I have the 562 and 572 is a nightmare a lot of trouble
All 3 of my 572 saws have been awesome...no issues at all.
Should have gotten it with the heated grips.
Yup, probably so!
See with Stihl you just fire it up and go, no need to prime it 50 times! 🤣😂
They make good stuff. Brand loyalty is everywhere...Ford-Chevy Coke-Pepsi
We love husqvarna...
It does work!
Who are you? What was your last movie?
Ha! Never been in a movie....yet!
I'm a Stihl guy I don't have to deal with a primer bulb. I grew up around Stihl.
Good for you! Stihl makes good stuff!
@@InTheWoodyard yea they do and a little easier to work on. I have been taking a small engine repair class on Tuesday for 10 weeks at an adult education class i have 2 weeks left got another one in January and that one is tearing motors apart and rebuilding them. That's a 6 week course I'm 54 just tired of paying someone else to do my work.
@@kevinmason3086 loads of people say that but i dont see it they are designed so similarly now they are not much different to work on.
I love my big older Stihls, but hate my new one with it’s stupid caps. I might start buying Husqvarna just for that reason alone (hey, Stihl. Company Are you listening?).
I got one in 2018 came with 20in bar I picked up a 28in at the ❤️❤️❤️ the both of them my friend
Good to hear!
You two are just a Hoot together HAHAHAHAH
Thanks Guys.

Thanks for watching Mike!
Where can we get the machine in kenya the new generation
Look up retail locations near you.
Nice sized saw.
Yup!
Hey, I know you're in BFE, but do you know Wranglerstar?
I know who he is but never met him.....yet!
Rancher? Who makes that?
Husqvarna did for a long time.
@@InTheWoodyard oh ok. You know why they stop?
I run a 28inch on mine it came with it
I am sure it works but to me that is a little to long for that saw..
I make those chains at Husqvarna

Thanks so much you guys do good work, we like your products!!!
Does it come with a manual
It might, we like to do not read much! Ha!
We're kind of old school we try it first and then get the book out
