I’m a diehard Husqvarna guy. I own 7 with the oldest one being 46 years old. Having said that, when someone asks me what saw they should buy to start a firewood business I tell them Echo 590 or 620. For the money you can’t beat the price, quality, and warranty.
The warranty is a moot point since it’s being used commercially ( firewood business). It’s only 1 year commercial vs 5 years residentially used. That’s a massive difference.
Those echo 590’s are tanks. We are also husky here at the shop but we picked up a used 590 that a buddy was selling and honestly we love it. We accidentally ran it over with the skidder, all it did was break the handle and crack the pull start cover. Saw still worked great but we replaced the handle, which was also super cheap. It’s been an excellent saw and it oils actually better than most of our husky’s

There will always be pros and cons to each saw brand; it depends on what you are using the saws for and what kind of wood you will primarily cut. Both Husqvarna and Stihl are the most common and have a larger market, but Echo can still hold its own--especially if cost is important. One thing that is very important when looking for a saw(s), is to find out which brand has an authorized reseller and service center in your area--this is an absolutely key factor. For myself, doing firewood up here in central British Columbia, I do it all (felling, limbing, bucking) with my Echo CS-600P and CS-620P. I've also been brushing using my friend's Husky 55 (great saw) for a week clearing 15 hectares of birch, cottonwood, and aspen; this is my first time using a Husky. On the echos, I run a 24" and 27" bar with Oregon Powercut chains--the other key factor with any saw is to make sure the chain is "Sharp"!

All good saws. You underestimate the Stihls unfair advantage. It has almost 10% more CCs, the Bark Box is a modded muffler. One of the most common performance Mods. That 562 needs a mod on the muffler, its biggest weakness is heat.
I am an Echo guy, I used to be a Husky guy but they DO NOT take care of their customers. We have a good Stihl dealer, but I think they are too expensive, but the Stihl looked like it was cutting faster. I was looking for an Echo 7301 but I may have to reconsider the Stihl You must have the same John Deere dealer's we have in Ohio., Ag-Pro. They absolutely suck. I had my equipment serviced and we I got it back. it had no fluids in it and my bumper pins were missing. They wouldn't make it right. I had to drive 20 miles to the dealer, get the fluids and put them in myself after paying them $500 to do it.
I have used many different saw's and I use to say the same thing if they cut good then it's a good saw. But as time moves on you start thinking differently. A really good Chain is what helps make the saw so good but no matter what saw you are running you start adding how many times that saw breaks down and the cost of the saw to have it fixed or to get the part for that saw. I had a new cheap saw I wanted to play with and a guy I knew that was about 58 years old needed help with his wood. We started together and he was running a STIHL. I with a cheap Wal-Mart saw was out cutting him and his STIHL was cutting poorly. Then it happen it broke. He took it in to the STIHL dealer to get the part and yes the part that broke was made out of plastic. Now I say the saw is only good as long as it is running and the chain is sharp lmao. I have worked with guys that assumed they knew more about cutting then I did and they would not take my advice after all they know more then I do. I told them many times not to lay down to much pressure let the saw do the work but they seem to think the more they put their weight in to the saw the faster it will cut.
@@danelionheart5881 the big game changer for people is when they can sharpen a chain and know how to do it well. Unfortunately it takes consistent sharpening all the time to get really good at it, especially free hand.

G’morning Chris ! Awesome episode of cutting ! Chainsaws are like children, there is a favorite, but you mustn’t ever say which one ! Thanks. GoodNightIrene
For this little tiny wood a 562 is wayyy overkill, that 562 can pull twice that much chain with ease. Lugging that big power head with a little short bar has to be hard on yur back! And that's the first time I've ever heard an echo start up and run. So there is truth to the rumor you really can get one to run. Looks to me like a Husky knock off. And you've got to remember; you get what ya pay for.
Not too many options for saw brands. I run a Stihl ms400 almost daily and I like it, but a Dolmar 7900 was cheaper and walks all over it. I can run a 7900 all day. I'm worried that decent power equipment will be out of the price range for most guys soon
I disagree, saw prices are not high when you consider that the bigger better pro saws cut more wood faster and make you more money or just save time....time is more valuable, I can make more money...time...not so much.
One thing I'll add is. You do even basic modifications to a saw. Like making better air flow through the muffler, thats enuf of a change to void your warranty. Removeing base gasket also will void warranty as the jump in compression is rather obvious. Based on law, you modify a product. You become the end manufacturer of it, and are responsible for the product. Dosen't matter if it a genuine product or a gray knock-off.
Dollar for dollar its hard to beat echo. Husky 562xp - 849.99 Stihl 400c - 1049.99 Echo 620 - 649.99 I've run all of these and the 562xp will out cut the other two, but not by enough to make any difference. (Maybe not the 400c if it has a bark box.) The 620 is a super deal, and the Stihl is nice but spendy.
Dealers matter. Around here Stihl dealers are everywhere. There is probably 4-1 Stihl to Husqvarna dealers at least that are close by. The one main Husqvarna dealer that is fairly close the owner is an asshole. I haven't felt to welcome in there before but I was in the area and they had the sales going I was going to buy a 550xp mark II and passed. Wouldn't pay any attention to me. I know there was supposed to be a sale but everything had the full MSRP on it and he wouldn't pay any attention to me so the hell with it. We do have some other places that sell both but those are pretty much big box stores but they sell the pro stuff too its not like Lowes or something where its only homeowner stuff they sell it all. The one store has basically anything Stihl you could ever want not as much Husqvarna but they have that too just its a big box store so if you need service or parts you really need to go to a dealer. Not sure if there is any Echo dealers here sure there probably is. I think actually one ATV dealer sells them. They have basically everything from trailers, to mowers, tractors, ATVs, jet skis whatever but I know they sold Stihl forever think recently they might have got Echo as well. There is at least one RedMax dealer here too but they are mostly known for their mowers but all they are really is a red Husqvarna. I have one can't think of what the model is but its basically a rear handle version of a top handle saw. Not sure if anybody around here sells the Makita/Dolmar stuff either. I have some Makitas but I didn't get them from a local dealer. I know there is some other brands as well that aren't very common.

That 562 needs a mod on the muffler, its biggest weakness is heat.
Yup, they all work...not a fan of more noise...just sayin'!
Good service is hard to find!
Stihl has 5cc’s and a pipe on that echo remember. A 7301 should rip pretty good
Bark box isn’t a pipe but does increase the power some but way more noise also
Ahhhh man glitter in the morning, nice line up of cutters Chris and saws. Keep on cutting now that the monsoons have slowed
Yup...saw fun!
I like saws & trucks that work doesn't matter who made them just get the job done!
Yup, working is what matters!
Great vid,i like these guys content too,how many videos do you got coming with them? If you dont mind, thanks Chris
They did a couple while they where here.
Ok thanks
Yup, a sharp chain is usually the big game changer for most saws a s far as how well they cut.
@@InTheWoodyard You know the best chain is a chain that never goes dull but they will never sell that because they would never make any money lmao.
@@danelionheart5881 the big game changer for people is when they can sharpen a chain and know how to do it well. Unfortunately it takes consistent sharpening all the time to get really good at it, especially free hand.
@@danelionheart5881 the real game changer for chainsaw users is to be able to freehand sharpen with a hand file and do it well.
Of course this takes quite a while to perfect with consistent practice.
Firewood Icons..Great video.
Thanks 👍
I think I need to try a Huskie at some point. I love my STIHLS but smooth sounds good...Cheers Chris!
You should!
A good test, did the boys get a special in the Woodyard mento?😊
They did well and yes!
Its interesting to hear you guys report the husqvarna being easier on the hands. Their published handle vibration values seem worse than stihl on most models but we its true, we dont cut trees with sales brochures.
Good point...
Husky has always had a better anti vibe than stihl
I was thinking a 562mk 2 but talking to adam at the frenzy im seriously considering the echo. This video is very helpful
Both nice saws!
A sharp chain will help any saw!! I like my 400c, but when I switched to my MS261 yesterday, i realized that someone forgot to sharpen the chain!!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Great point!
Good morning Chris!!😀😀
Morning Al!
Great comparison episode 👍👍👍
Thanks
Of course some things are conspicuous in their absence!
How much does a Makita 6100 cost?
No how much?
I don't know look it up???
I have Husqvarna, Stihl, Poulan, Champion and Homelite. I use them all for different situations. It's easy to get your money's worth out of any machine
Yup, just take care of them!
Nice video Chris & all. As for the saws, pick your poison-they all were cutting great. GNI
Thanks 👍
Chris, looked like 👍 everyone was having a cutting good time excellent work and video 😮😊❤
Thanks 👍
What brand is that helmet? Good video - appreciate you guys

G’morning Chris ! Awesome episode of cutting ! Chainsaws are like children, there is a favorite, but you mustn’t ever say which one !
Thanks. GoodNightIrene
Ha!!!!! Thanks!
Well the Stihl stole the day but I am stihl a Husky fan.
If I was really tight on money though, the Echo would be a real stihl.
All 3 where nice to use!
They all cut.
@InTheWoodyard but, for how long? :)
400i or c?
I think it was a 400i
Not too many options for saw brands.
Depending on your needs, i don't think you could go wrong with either one..
Yup!
Thanks for the info...good to know!
Thy all good saw love them ( Ty Ron
Thanks RON!
I think with a muffler mod you’ll see the 562 mk2 is the best imho.
Maybe so!
Good video and lots of good info they stacked up about how I would imagine, couple of emails sent your way.
Thanks!
Good one👍🏻
Thanks ✌️
Good morning everyone
Hello Sir Stanley!
Dollar for dollar its hard to beat echo.
Husky 562xp - 849.99
Stihl 400c - 1049.99
Echo 620 - 649.99
I've run all of these and the 562xp will out cut the other two, but not by enough to make any difference. (Maybe not the 400c if it has a bark box.) The 620 is a super deal, and the Stihl is nice but spendy.
Yup, good observations!
A wood cutting-orama. That's a good way to get some wood cut. Open invite to the woodyard! Lol
yup!
So this Stihl is basically a 70cc( 67cc) saw, while the other 2 are 60 cc saws...
No wonder it's gruntier.
yup...all nice saws.
Stihl 362 is the 562 equivalent
I know there is some other brands as well that aren't very common.
yup, a good dealer is important!
As usual, STIHL RUNS THE YARD and always will. It's good to be the King. 👑👑👑👑👑😊👍🏿 #stihlpower #stihlisyourdaddy #stihlrunstheyard
Stihl does not run my yard , I do.
@@InTheWoodyard No sir, Correct. STIHL RUNS EVERY YARD, including yours. That's just the way it is. 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤔 #stihlpower #stihlisyourdaddy #stihlrunstheyard
Bark box gives up to 10% more power(cc n torque) n 11% cooler
Nice! Thanks!
@@InTheWoodyard welcome
I think that's a stretch...
Good Morning Woodhounds!(-:
Hello!
There may be a little bit of Tom Sawyer in you. Getting other people to do your work under the guise of having fun!
Ha!
All those saws and still wood to be cut!! Get to work!😃
That's the plan! Thanks Boss!
On today's episode of "The Non-denominational Church of the Holy Order of Chainsaws"...
Thanks, that is a good one! Haaaaa!
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
From my observation of the saws the "Stihl" will be cutting after the "Echoes" are long gone.
I would not say that, echos are great saws and a lot of people have ran them for a long time so...you never know!
Absolutely right man, the stihl will be cutting while the others will be going through their 2nd rebuild
@@InTheWoodyard I agree with you Chris, japanese engine seem to last longer even though I'd rather have a more powerful one like stihl (or husky) and be more comfotable too. I have stihl and echo but for me stihl has something more, also in europe we don't have that big difference in price between them.
👏👍🏻👏
Thanks!
