This just changed everything. Changed my whole fading. I never understood the difference between open and a 0 guard closed. It’s the same and that makes sense. I appreciate this
So when the guard is open it adds .5 to whatever guard you have on the clippers? Does that mean I can fade at .0 then open the blade it to .5 and fade that way as well?
Yes so if you’re doing a basic bald fade (not using a trimmer or shaver) the bottom of the fade would be no guard close then no guard open to set your next guideline about an inch above the close lever.....then blend those two guidelines into each other by using the lever at the half way point between closed and open and as you go higher up start using the guards.....I hope this helps
Right now I only use the premium guards but I just ordered these magnetic ones off Amazon Professional Hair Clipper Guards Guides Hair Cutting Guides #3170-400- 1/8” to 1 fits for all Wahl Clippers www.amazon.com/dp/B07WPF137L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9mcLFb2JNB9Z1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I think there is a small gap between 0.5 open and 1 closed .I think 0.5 open is a little bigger than 1 closed ..so if you are fading after 0.5 open you need to continue with 1 guard slightly open
@@MikeWillBlendItsorry for the long read, yh thx u I needed some help with my guards I don't have much I don't have a one guard but I realize tht one of them I could use as a one guard it a right ear taper and a left ear taper long an short now I think I can use it for a one guard I only have a 2,3,4 a right ear taper and a left but thx to I now now I have a 1 and half.

You can buy a wahl 0.5 guide which is easier
We’re referring to the blade without a guard on it being 0 when the lever is closed and .5 when the lever is open
You’re the goat for this!!! Thanks G!🔥🙏🏽
Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
Is a 0 guard equivalent to a 0 with the lever closed and no guard on ?
The Wahl doesn't come with a 0 guard, so I'm not sure. The Wahl itself with lever closed is 0.5 mm
yah i never knew this... good explanation thanks for this man

Thank you mike
No problem thank you for watching 🙏🏾
From the closed position, you’re only at a zero if the clipper is zero-gapped.
👍👍👍
You didn't even mention the red guard shown in the video thumbnail?
It’s a blade guard used for protection. It’s not use for cutting hair.
Thank you so much bra
No problem bro thanks for watching 🙏🏾
