Very helpful. We got five recipes today and got all the ingredients. Definitely looking forward to a Mediterranean week, especially getting away from out New Mexico norm for a while. And we got a LOT of olives because you just can't go wrong with olives!
New sub love your channel so far ! Started plant base eating 2 weeks ago and I really like it. Made several of the recipes you have shared , thank you 😊
I just discovered your channel and I love it! I hope you keep posting more videos. I want to start the Mediterranean diet thanks to the channel, Plant Chompers. This way of eating looks so healthy! Most of my diets have been extreme, vegan, keto and carnivore. I need to get back to the basics and have a more realistic diet. 🌿🌱💞
@@jordanwaddell A question in the Mediterranean diet is it bad to eat fish every day or can you eat fish every day and chicken meat can be 4 days a week or less?
Do you feel any different since adding animal products back into your diet? I’ve been plant based for over three years and feel good but I keep reading about how healthy the Mediterranean diet is and am considering adding fish to my diet.
Such a good question! I will say the difference is not HUGE, but I do feel more satisfied after a meal with some animal protein. I also increased my iron/ferritin levels and B12 back into healthy ranges that my doctor was happy with. Everyone is so different. I think it's FANTASTIC you are feeling good being plant-based! 😊If you are comfortable, you could experiment with a really small fish like sardines - that's what I did to transition. See how you feel! If it doesn't feel right and/or you don't feel different after a month or so, then you know 🙂My first Mediterranean Diet video was 100% plant-based.
The salad looked so good! Im definitely gonna do all of these. We just started doing Mediterranean because quarantine has us feeling all bulky and sluggish lol.
My husband and I were on the whole food plant based diet for two years 2018-2020 my husband lost 40 pounds I stayed the same I didn’t need to lose but could eat as much as I wanted and never gain. Then he wanted off the diet and I’ve been fighting 5 pounds that won’t go away, and he gained back his 40 pounds. His doctor wants him on the Mediterranean diet so I’m looking for recipes and your fish recipe looks great. I’m new to your UA-cam site looking forward to your recipes. Thank you for posting this.
My breakfast is very similar to yours; the only difference is that I use kefir in stead of yogurt. I usually have blueberries sprinkled on kefir with flaxseed and ground almond.
Were the garbanzo beans dried or canned? Dry roasting sounds so good. I love roasted sweet potatoes on my salad. I roast a big batch at the beginning of the week and cut up my romaine and make my salads from that all week.
You are half way to making cream cheese with straining the yoghurt. Also, if you haven't any cheese cloth...A pair of tights will do the job. (Need i say new and/or washed? ) Lovely video, thank you. Love from the south of france xxx
Hi Jordan, thanks for the wonderful video that introduces simple but nutritious recipes. I just wonder why you squeeze the whey from your homemade yogurt? Is whey not good for health? I’m making kefir at home and just drink whole kefir milk product made from kefir grains, never separated whey from the final product, but now wondering why you do that. (And I’ve seen some people also do that, there must be some reason) Could you kindly reply me please? Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi there! I don't think there's anything wrong with the whey :) I did that demonstration to show how to make "Greek" style yogurt since it is a Mediterranean diet video. Some people like the texture of Greek yogurt and the higher protein content. Neither are "good" or "bad" - it's just a personal preference!
I've been following the Mediterranean way of eating for about a year (btw, you are one of the few posting such things). I've had great benefits of MUCH less joint pain and GERD symptions are much reduced. But I LOVE the food. Everything tastes wonderful with lots of fresh veggies. Your food looks wonderful too! Had forgotten about the fish in parchment thing. Your idea on the peas was genius as well. My next step figuring out baking bread. BTW, I do different flavors though keeping to basic principles so I may have Mexican or Asian inspired flavors but with much more veggies and whole grains, less red meat (do eat a little but maybe once a month).
"Inspired by the Mediterranean diet" recipes - that explains the almond nut butter. In a real Mediterranean diet, they would just sprinkle the nuts in the yogurt and if you wanted it to taste sweet, to just add some honey. I've been researching but I haven't read anything that says straining the whey out of yogurt increases the protein. From what I've read, it merely changes the consistency of the yogurt, and you lose sodium, sugars and helpful bacteria by straining it.
Really informative, thanks! I'm also staring Mediterranean, though I pretty much have been eating these healthy ingredients all along. Joe C in Raymond, N H
I love this lifestyle. Been living it again for a few weeks and not only does everything taste amazing it makes me feel great too! These recipes looked 😋
Love this video! I'm trying to switch my husband and I completely over to a Mediterranean diet for health reasons. He has acid reflux and I have prediabetes. I've read that this is a good diet to restore gut health and lose weight. Do you think this is the best diet for gerd? I would love to see more of these videos from you! Definitely trying each and every recipe, can't wait for the cod!
Great question! I definitely think the Med diet is a great place to start for GERD :) However, everyone is slightly different when it comes to food triggers. For example, some dairy is okay on the Med diet, but many people with reflux do better without dairy. So it's important to stay in tune with your individual needs! I'll definitely be posted more vids soon!
I really wanna start this, but I'm a powerlifter and I need 180g of protein and 350g of carbs a day :| I don't know how to get that much in with this diet
Totally understandable! I think you could certainly follow the principles of the Mediterranean diet and just add more protein :) It doesn't have to be perfect!
Can you please put meal up that you can order out for breakfast lunch and dinner a 2 or 3 months I am disabled born with cerebral palsy and confined to a wheelchair I just recently developed high blood pressure please help with this I don't want to be placed on pills
Hi Deb! All these recipes are already diabetic friendly in general :) But if you've been told by your healthcare provider or dietitian to eat in a certain way, then of course follow their guides.
I was on keto diet but I have had 2 strokes and carotid artery surgery , so keto is not for me any more. Mediterranean diet would be better choice doc said.
What is going on with your recipe portals? They give odd notices and, if pursued, yield hacker type results from predator operatives. Please clean this up and/or create safe resource sites. Thank you.
Hi Diana! For the Mediterranean diet specifically, I would recommend mediterraneanliving.com - that's an amazing resource for recipes run by a dietitian and I believe it offers a meal plan or some kind of course!
Roasting vegetables (400F) destroys food value - enzymes, vitamins and minerals. That! for added taste ... Terrible choice for healthy eating! 😮 350 has been the standard baking temp forever by wise, health preserving considerations.
Hope no one gets discouraged by the sometimes esoteric ingredients and all the work some of these are. You do not need pink salt found in just one place in the world or super organic, everything free special ingredient X made in the remote regions of China only by Norwegian bachelor farmers. I'm down 13 pounds with only 8 more to go and it is mostly from stopping drinking and cooking almost everything at home from fresh ingredients. Best part is blood pressure is under 120/80 even after stopping two medicines (under my doctor's supervision).
Hey. Thanks, everything just looks soooo good! I am new here and I am confused as to why you eat so low in carbs. I thought on the med diet you are supposed to eat a lot of whole grains? I hope you can help me to understand.
Hi there! I prefer to prioritize proteins and fats in my diet as I find it works best for my digestion, hormones, and blood sugar balance. You can certainly add more grains if you enjoy them!

greek yogurt + nut butter is one amazing combo!

Thanks Christina!
I make my own Greek yogurt every few days in my instant pot.
Out of curiosity how does straining yogurt increase the protein???
Hi there! By straining it, you concentrate the yogurt and remove a lot of the lactose, leaving behind a yogurt with a higher density of protein.
