    Some of these things are at least borderline cheating but the Tyrrell P34 was just pure engineering innovation. Not a big winner but if you can't keep up go to the back row. Go big or go home! Jody Scheckter, a great driver.

      Yeah but it's either the team being to fast with the new tech that there's no competition or it's dangerous for the drivers. But it's maFIA after all.

    To such innovations, I'd add 4wd f1 cars which were -guess what - banned due to unfair advantage. Seriously though, some variation in the engineering of cars would be awesome to see. Regulations are so strict that every car looks the same and performance only depends on the engine and not other cool stuff like the air pump, 4wd and six wheels you mentioned. just imagine if all that stuff weren't banned

      An actual article in F1 magazine asked this very question. Ferrari said they'd run a 6 wheeler with a V10 if they could get away with it. Interestingly, their designers at the time preferred to put the 4 on the rear, probably so the car wouldn't slide too much. Now there really was a 6 wheel car called the Tyrell P34. It wasn't a bad idea as it did win several races. The biggest issue was the tires were expensive and had to be custom built for that exact car. No other car could use those tires.

    Everyone always talks about active suspension and then say “modern road cars have it”. Yes they do, but it’s ENTIRELY different. Modern road cars will have active dampers that can be adjusted and if they have adjustable ride height it’s 99% of the time from air suspension. F1 active suspension was purely hydraulic. Where there were no springs and no dampers. It was hydraulic pistons that acted upon the system in compression and the system acted upon them in rebound. The closest system in a road car to what F1 had is the active suspension in the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Where it is mostly running from a hydraulic system. It has taken 30 years to get a system in a road car that is even remotely similar to that used in F1

    • @christiannasca3520

      Mercedes offered a real, hydraulic active suspension in their top notch road cars at one point.

    • @Racers-Setup-Guide
      @Racers-Setup-Guide 5 місяців тому

      @@christiannasca3520 yes the ABC system. Which is actually a really good compromise between a road car active suspension and what you would see in F1. On the ABC systems, there is an air spring and adaptive damper at each corner (like most road car systems). But each spring also has a hydraulic top hat that can change the ride height and weight transfer independently to counteract cornering forces and braking/acceleration forces (similar to F1). The benefit of having both systems is you don’t have to program the hydraulic system for absorbing bumps

    Right wing, left wing, front wing, rear wing, does not matter on which wing the active aero gets to be. Electronic driver aids are just that. Replacing drivers with electronic aids. We have drivers because then know when to brake, they don't just smash the brake pedal all at the same time counting on ABS to do the rest. We have drivers because they know when they lose traction and how to correct it not in order for them to all drive the same line counting on the traction control to do the rest. We have drivers to know what gear to shift into, not a computer to decide what gear/revs are the best for the car in current conditions. We have drivers for a reason. If you don't like that, then fine, just replace drivers with computers and call it a drone F1.

    Nice video, but quite annoying you often use footage that differs years or even decades from the subject. Example, just one of many: BMW-Sauber, using V10 engines, had nothing to do with the BMW 4 cylinder Turbo engines from the 80s. Confusing for F1 Newbies who simply get wrong (visual) information, annoying for F1 Fans. Something to take into account for your next videos perhaps?

    Ok…this trend has to stop…I get these videos are not easy to make, but you have to stop shooting the text you’re reading onto the screen one word at a time onto the screen. Either, you just give default subtitles for all lines, or you don’t. It feels lazy and uninspired. It takes effort to time the shooting of those words on screen to your voice over. Just stop..this is almost as bad as shooting vertical video.
