Imagine being in the market for a 21-22 ft boat you make a 150k a year and you realize when you get to the boat show you are stuck looking at a jet boat or a skiff!
@flnative7553 back in the early 2000s I got drunk at the Ft.Lauderdale boat show and walked out with a HydraSports 2596 Vector with twin Evinrudes and It was well over $100k and I only made around 75k a year. Now I'm shopping for a 21 footer just to goof off and they want 80k for them
Vouching for the Carolina skiffs, I own the 218 dlx. They are very roomy and capable boats. The ride quality isn't as terrible as the older hull style although definitely not the best. The DLX and LS share the same hull. Major difference between the two is that the LS actually has space for a head in the CC. Figured I'd share the info for anyone interested. 13:2913:2913:2913:2913:29
Boat prices are crashing like 2008, and so are car prices. Probably why Skeeter didn't list any prices. Every boat manufacturer sees it. Demand is down 80% since 2022. New and used boats will be another 40% cheaper next year as we hit the worst recession, possibly ever.
Very informative, interesting that you mention new prices are down 10 to 20% , high interest rates as well kills affordability. Anyways great video and excellent, excellent quality, i liked the price point of 60 and under, my kind of prices. Just FYI, up in Canada i was told that new prices and even used have collapsed.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We try to make better and better videos each time. The interest rates definitely kill affordability. Unless youre buying cash (I know we don’t have 60k lying around to buy a boat) interest rates make a huge impact of affordability. Looks like the market is starting to collapse down here as well. I for see people buying old used and repowering. Let’s see! Thanks again! 🤙
Thank you so much! The gentleman who bought that same boat at the show made a video of how much he loved it. If I remember right, it topped out in the mid to high 40s and handled really well!
Cap this weather is crazy! Luckily we have things like the boat show and flea markets to keep us busy but we’re dying to get out there and camp. This is crazy!
I’m not into the jet boats but those Yamahas seemed to be built quite well. Motors are reliable but I like outboards. You free up more space with an outboard and from what I understand you have more maneuverability also. Hope that helps 🤙
Hey currently been boat shopping for dual console around 24-27' would love to get your insight if I may. looking at new boats as well, when you said I would never buy new boat. killed me with that line please elaborate and point me in best direction. Thank you, love the content keep it up!
Hey there! There’s a couple great boats in that range that i think would work great for you. The 26 Grady dual console is like a Cadillac. Twin 200’s. It rides like a 30 footer. I’d only buy a new boat personally if I had money to burn and I wanted something custom. Boats depreciate faster than anything. You could prob find the same model boat 2-3 years old in amazing condition for thousands cheaper and motors still under warranty. The hulls are usually transferable warranty as well! Hope that helps!
Would be super curious to see how the basic 25-foot flat bottom skiff handles chop compared to that modified bottom on the smaller lighter 21 LS. I think the pure size and weight advantage of the 25 might be underappreciated. Really good deal for a 25-foot boat. Could have 8 people on a boat that size pretty comfortably.
I have to say that we almost chose the 25 as the best deal because it’s a lot of boat for the price. I met the person who bought the 21 ls from this show. That actual boat. And he compares both rides of the flat and modified bottom. He says there’s a significant difference. And it does like 48mph😳 that’s nuts!
The BEST boat is the one designed for your purpose that you can COMFORTABLY afford. Get what you can and enjoy the heck out of it and don't be concerned with impressing anyone or because there are bigger boats out there... A day on the water on a small boat is still better than being stuck on the couch at home because you couldn't afford the payments or the gas. Open fisherman, bowrider, deck boat, pontoon, deep vee, flat bottom, jet, sterndrive, outboard... they all have their unique advantages and disadvantages and best use scenarios. Decide on what you are going to primarily use the boat for, how many people you need to SIT comfortably, and in what depths and water conditions, and pick a hull design that is best for that...
We think that will come in the next two months or so. We need to finish the topside of the boat (painting, rub rail etc.) Without the motor, I think we’re in for about 12k or so. We definitely will do this video though! 🤙
@@perfectfitboatingdamn that’s not too bad honestly. That will be my next long term project a boat like yours with a small cabin. I just bought a used 19 footer and it needs a tad bit of work so definitely helps constantly watching your guys’ vids for tips and help.
@brianpino7274 you can definitely do it. I’m just a regular dude who learned as I went. UA-cam helped alot and now I can show people as I learn too. The boat we got had to be done from the bottom up. You might be able to find something in better shape so you save some money on having to do huge projects. Prices of boats are coming down so you’re in the right time to start looking!
I don’t remember seeing them at this one but they might’ve been at the Ft. Lauderdale one. This show was huge so it’s hard to really see everything in a day like we tried to. This year we’re going all week to film more! Gheenoes are sick though! 🤙
Overall I like to see someone posting boat videos for boats under $60k. However to stat you would never buy a new boat tells me you must not have kids to take out. A used boat is buying someone else’s problems. I never met a boater who sold a boat and said “that boat ran amazing,” it’s usually when it’s a pile of poop they sell it. Not bashing at all. I appreciated this video. FYI don’t be afraid of the wave runner Yamaha style boat motor combination, they are VERY reliable brother.
Thanks for the comment. The Yamahas are great reliable boats. We follow a channel who ran a 19ft to the Bahamas many times and it never let him down. 🤙
@@perfectfitboating keep the videos coming brother, we’re on the market for a smaller lake boat and I use videos from great people like yourself who are out at the boat shows to see what’s available.
@easttexasengineering3489 we appreciate that my man! We have a few videos at the boat shows! Just for future reference.. when a boat says starting at "$$,$$$" that in most cases means just the boat itself. Sometimes it will include the most minimal engine that is offered with that particular boat but that is typically it. Like that yamaha 195 FSH, the sea deck, the gages, the multicolored piped material on the seats the T-top, the stereo are all added expenses. So while it says starting at $45k.. I bet if you specked one out the way the one you showed was it would be over $60k.. Now the ones that you showed that said boat show special price as is.. those were all out the door just the way you showed them for that price.. just something to keep in mind..
Good question. If I was extremely wealthy and had money to burn then I would consider getting something I could customize to my needs. Boats depreciate extremely quickly and you can find a boat that’s a few years old that is way cheaper than new. Some that still have transferable warranty and warranty on the motor/motor. The only way I think I’d purchase a brand new boat would be if I was extremely wealthy and i needed something custom. The market is priced way too high. Dude this is a boat show not a baby equipment.. it’s under the title of pleasure and if you can’t afford those boats you should not own boat at all at this point .
Because the prices are ridiculous 🤣. We have maybe 40k invested in our 24ft cabin boat. Just for comparison, a 20ft Grady white overnighter goes for 170k brand new. Plus I love doing projects and showing others how to do them while saving money. 🤙
So in your case. You prefer to invest 40K on that 24ft. I don’t know the year or condition thant to put 40K towards lets say for example a 27ft seahunt ultra 2023 new with twin yamaha 200 and warranty of course. ?
Yes, in our case, I’d rather invest 40k (over some time restoring it) than on a new boat like that 27 sea hunt. Those boats are right at 200k new . They’re beautiful but I can’t justify getting something new. Even the used ones are 100k. Grady makes a 23 gulfstream which is the closest thing to our boat and that’s over 200k new. There’s pros and cons to both. My pockets aren’t that deep and I actually enjoy learning new skills and making this boat customized to how I want it. And I get to show people they can do it too by making videos. Check out some of our other videos we’ve done and continue to do projects on our boat.
