See if you can find the 'dodger' she was a scuppers type tugboat used as a commercial fishing boat out of whangaroa in new zealand. She was bought and taken to england i believe in the early 2000s. Around 21 feet long with a small pilot house.
I'm just an average person that likes boats but doesn't know much about them. Why would someone pick a "trawler style" boat for a yacht? Aren't they very slow? Are they stable in the open ocean? Why would he pick steel for the hull? Isn't that expensive and prone to corrosion? It's a beautiful vessel. Thanks for your time.
@@olliefoxx7165 Yes they are very stable and can cope with heavy seas well. Yes 7 knots is slow, but then there is a massive range to offset that. It's definitely an explorer yacht. Not one to get you anywhere fast. The problem with the video is it plays like an advertisement feature. He doesn't discuss the merits or the pros and cons or offer any explanation or comparisons. Everything is just right and superb. That's how these videos work. The owner let's him make content and in return he gives a biased rave review to help him sell the boat.
@@olliefoxx7165Operating range is big due low fuel consumption. There is trawlers in 15-20m range consuming 1 litre per nm. If you have planning yacht, it eats 5-8 litres. You can travel long trips with trawler, without being bankrupt. I think that's a good reason for buying one. Let's say you're retired from work and plenty of time but you're not a millionaire.
a very appealing vessel - obviously sea-worthy - also long-legged and comfortable in cold and hot climates. Refreshing to see a 'new' boat not over-burdened with frivolous systems and too many 'latest gadgets'. An honest passage-maker brought back to life as a reflection of its professional mariner owner.
This is the look I absolutely love in a vessel. That rugged working look. Gets me every time. WOW THIS BOAT IS TRULY AMAZING! 😍 The galley seating is beautiful! The cut out leading to it is definitely a centerpiece of class. Great job to the owner. He's got a great eye & taste.
I love it. Beautifully minimalistic. No nonsense approach allover. Pilot house is a very attractive space without millions of electronics but with just the basics.
Absolutely stunning little ship, certainly looks tuff as old boots too.Saloon is amazing and the engine room incredible with back up propulsion, having driven DAF trucks that engine will last forever pushing that little Tardis tug across the sea’s.
Absolutely stunning . The functionality and durability of steel with traditional wood trim throughout make this a very unique liveaboard my. That aft layout following the canoe stern with the wood trim accenting it all is pure design.
Amazing design and build. Well thought out interior design. Beautiful woodwork. Great engine room with a dependable drivetrain. Definitely one of a kind
Love this trawler. I own a Nordhaven 47 for 18 yrs, so I have a great appreciation for the design, workmanship , engine room equipment choices. The layout is generous for a 42. Hydraulic choice is fantastic. The fuel and travel range capacity outstanding. The only equipment I would miss would be hydraulic stabilizers. Bravo for a beautifully designed and built blue water trawler
What a little beauty, that stern is so elegant, the interior is very well utilised, the engine room, well what can I say,an engineer's paradise,I would love this for travelling around Ireland and the UK, and maybe a little further with that range, fair play to the owner on a great job, brilliant video, would like to see a video of the pilot boat, that would be interesting,Thanks 🇮🇪.
This is such a stunning and amazing Trawler, one of the best i have ever seen for her size and the main saloon reminds me of the Spirit yacht. The Engine room is impressive and easy to get around. The price is amazing for what you get. The person that did the rebuild is quite the genius
I for one would love to spend a day on his pilot boat with a crew of 18!! That's got to be a big one. Would love to see the boat and it's crew in action.
Got to be one, if not the best boats you have revued. Absolutely brilliant, perfectly executed by someone who obviously knows what they are doing. Thanks.
€ 245.000,- is a barging for that ship!! It has been made by an absolute enthousiast who also know a massive amount of ship building. Though this one is very hard to beat, I would like to see more of such ships.
Lovely boat. Like the quality of fitout. Very manageable boat. Only thing to change is bigger kitchen area and fridge especially and probably freezer. At 7 knots, getting anywhere is going to take time so plenty of victuals needed! Would be OK with smaller seating area, bigger kitchen and storage.
A great boat! It has everything you need on board for a long-distance trip with one, two or three people. The materials are very well made. I particularly like the simple design and the use of space! Congratulations to the boat owner! He did a damn good job and you can see he put his heart and soul into it!
What a well kitted out trawler, built for rough weather and equipped for seriously long distance passages. Love the galley area and the settee. Would be a bonus to be able to convert it into a double bed if you have additional guests because you could still use the settee in the pilothouse for dining purposes. Amazingly well done woodwork, which showcases the level of craftsmanship that has gone into every inch of this yacht. I live and sail in Alaska and would take this boat just about anywhere, given it has an aluminum hull, a skeg hung rudder and propeller. You could get thru some mild pack ice up one of our fjords here in Southeast Alaska quite easily...
Like the engine-room set-up. A big single with hydraulic secondary drive is perfect. I prefer a decent central day-tank and 2 big wing tanks. The aft saloon is neat too.
Very cool! Very well thought out. Really like the solid handrails with splits at each mooring bollard for easy line handling, a small detail but not that common.
A true labor of love. What a great story this little boat has! I haven't seen many smaller boats with a steel hull. Buying a boat, that would be my top priority. The canoe-stern is brilliant. I know there's a benefit in following seas. I'd be interested to hear a hull designer talk about that, and the potential trade-offs. I wonder if it affects hull efficiency. My maiden voyage would be close to the boat's home port. I'd be hiring a Captain and Engineer to go out on some day trips and show me the ropes. Love the idea of a vid about the pilot boat! Cheers! 🚤
As a Canadian shipbuilder, I LOVE IT, galley fan ? Engine Room fire suppression ? Hey none of them are perfect but this one checks a lot of the boxes for me. Thanks for your time.
Why was steel chosen for the hull? Isn't that expensive and corrosion prone? Do trawlers handle rough waters better than the sharp bows of traditional yachts? Would you need a crew of 18 to operate this vessel? In cold climates, would condensation from a heated cabin be a problem with internal hull corrosion?
I agree, she is a real beauty, and ready for the new owner to choose the necessary final upgrades - like a liferaft, radar, AIS, watermaker, a bit of galley tweaking to support extended cruises in remote areas (I'd swap the dishwasher for a freezer), and a deck wash/shower fitting, in addition to the vitally important fire suppression system and galley exhaust. If she were fully equipped now, she would be priced a LOT higher!
A lovely boat that would be very comfortable, but seemed to be lacking in hanging lockers but that could be worked around.as a retired marine engineer it was good to hear the engine running. There are some some tight spots in the engine room but obviously better for knowing. Having worked on pilot boats many years ago It would be interesting to see the pilot cutter especially if working.Cheers Roly🇬🇧.
When I first started the video on my phone I thought the price was in GBP, and I was thinking this is a bargain....then when I continued watching on my PC and realised it is in Euro I thought "No way, that's like another 20% cheaper, WOW". Considering he acquired it only in 2022, and is also working full time on the large Pilot Boat, that's an amazing effort. Big yes to the pilot boat vid.
I love this boat. I've recently seen her advertised. To be honest I couldn't fathom her out at first. She is so well made, even down to the Kort Nozzle and Becker Rudder !! I come from a Tug Boat background so seeing these details really amazed me 🙂She will sell fast..
Being a single 73 year old with no drama in my life. I could be very happy on this boat. Cruising from Alaska to Patagonia. I’m sure there is a Place to install an AC.
Agreed, she's perfect for the "mature" seafarer (like me!). When the rigors of offshore sailing become a bit too much, she is a great boat to continue life at sea.
The level of thoughtfulness that went into designing this boat is very evident everywhere. I could see myself living on this boat, paying for a slip, and exploring coastlines as the marina got boring.
This is my favorite yacht I have yet seen. It's perfect for a gentleman exploring bachelor. Good for adventure. This ship is ship shape! My first stop would be the Mediterranean or south pacific.
Wow not an inch of wasted space would love to tour the entire British isles on that boat . A visit with the owner and pilot boat captain would be a nice extra
I am not a sailor. But I like this type of boat. It cannot go fast but it is safe and comfortable. I am not an engineer but the engine room is really neat and tidy. It also reflects the meticulousness of the boat owner.
very very nice Trawler Yacht, made with love and i think maybe the first pilothouse trawler i appreciate that much that i would buy it by myself. The view from the captains place is fantastic. I´m sure you can handle it like a small boat and that ist awesome! Greetings from Germany !
3,300 Mile Range. You could power from San Francisco to Hawaii easily. Impressive Boat and Layout. The rear Saloon table could be enlarged and made a sleeper for at least 2 Adults or 3-4 Children.
What a beautiful and purposeful piece of kit!!! I'd happily send her from Victoria BC Canada to the tip of the Baha in Mexico, or head north and do an Alaskan adventure, or given her range she would be able to reach the Hawaiian Islands!!! What a treat and I thank-you for giving her a feature, John!!
Thank you as always for showing REAL little ships with honor and pride. If I hit the lottery here in the USA I will be hiring you to find me such a boat. God Bless...
What a boat. Very impressive. Nice layout, size and appearance. I really like this boat because it looks like a real ship and not like a millionaire's yacht.
Great vid!…My grandfather Simon Groot was a pilot taking ships from Vlissingen to Antwerp in the 1930’s, so I’ve always been interested in Dutch pilotage service! Would love to see a video about the big seagoing pilot cutters! Cheers!
This would be the perfect boat to have here in the Baltic sea. Even to live aboard all year. It shows that the current owner is a pro, this one is for the real sailors who know what is needed when out there on the seas. Whoever buys this boat will propably be very happy with it, also the price seems quite reasonable.
Wow that is my perfect boat. We went from Seattle to Alaska on our sailboat motoring most of the way standing outside cold and wet. This boat would have made that trip amazing.

I'm a career yacht builder, and this is an impressive boat. Everything you need and nothing you dont.

I don't know nearly enough about boats I'll take your word for it. Nice boat
Absolutely not biased because I'm Dutch but what a stunning little trawler, punching way above its weight.
Yes on the pilot ship.

I'm a sail guy, but this thing is pure class
Yes, please. We all would like to see a tour of the 'big' pilot boat.
I agree,
+1 🙂
I could live comfortably on that vessel.
What strikes me is the impeccably understated and clean taste this represents. Perfection on every level.

i thought the same, great work and taste of quality an colour
What a gorgeous example of a talented craftsman. Love the rivets, bold lines, rigid but nice and clear windows. It screams tough. I love it.
It is one of the nicest, best designed boats I’ve ever seen. Amazing use of every inch of space. Beautiful workmanship!
Perfect boat for cruising the Pacific Northwest coast. It would work well in off season weather. That engine room jigsaw puzzle is a sight to behold.
Yes. A Seattle boat if I ever saw one.
Great lakes for me.
@@rapidrrobert4333 Me too!
Precisely my thinking! This would be great for the inside passage.
Loved this-and it would be a treat to see the Pilot Boat!
That is an AMAZING little ship. Love everything about it including the unconventional stuff. That captain is a lucky man
A big YES on the pilot boat. I love the utilitarian design ethos throughout this vessel, every box ticked and no fripperies.
Can’t say I’ve recently come across “frippery.”
I love boats like this. I'm more of a sailboat guy, but this is great. Reminds me of a Nauticat which is my favorite sail/cruise boat.
Me too! Nauticats are so cleverly designed
I love it. Beautifully minimalistic. No nonsense approach allover. Pilot house is a very attractive space without millions of electronics but with just the basics.
I LOVE this sea worthy little tub- much bigger inside than it looks, outside! And YES! on the pilot boat!
Absolutely stunning little ship, certainly looks tuff as old boots too.Saloon is amazing and the engine room incredible with back up propulsion, having driven DAF trucks that engine will last forever pushing that little Tardis tug across the sea’s.

Amazing design and build.
Well thought out interior design. Beautiful woodwork.

Definitely one of a kind
The aft-dinette really impressed me. It's quite the superyacht standard on a small boat.
Definitely come back for a part two on this one. This vessel is a gem! What a pristine and well loved craft.
Fantastic boat and incredible value for the money……
Absolutely!
