    There's more comments on Xbox enhancements than I imagined so let me clear that up. YES, the HD Remaster IS Xbox One X Enhanced as it runs at a 4K.
    This wasn't something actually 100% confirmed until recently (some physical copies did not have the enhancement label and the game was not on Microsoft's list of enhanced games until recently) & I frankly underestimated peoples interest in whether or not a game was enhanced. I'll be sure to rectify this in the future. For all intents & purposes, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is enhanced & I'll be sure to include this in the port review of the game.

      Yeah, that's always the drawback of a Japanese developer trying to make a western sounding name and localization coming in and trying to tighten up the spelling. They have a way in mind of how it should sound, but if you never hear it spoken out loud then everybody thought it was like the English name Titus or Tidus, and not Tee-da. Same for Aerith. Sounded out phonetically in Japanese as with the S on the end, but stylized with a TH, yet even in FF7R, the Japanese say her name akin to 'Aeris' when spoken outloud. Even the Flowers in the coliseum have her name written as エイリス or Eiris, which is the way its written in the debug room of the original game as well.

    I really dislike how much more child-like Tidus'es face became in the hd version. It goes as far as altering his design since its quite drastic, he looks a lot more anime and younger where as in the ps2 version Tidus had more personality and more maturity in his face. Big deal-breaker for me.

    The lack of skipping cutscenes can be a drag in some parts of this game.
    As much as I really love the characters and combat in this game it can get a bit annoying having to listen to so much dialogue that isn't really needed to hear, read on repeat playthroughs.
    Yes characters even those little screen time npcs, enviroments, lore is key to a good rpg but on repeat runs it can be a bit of a pain in the ass to see them again and not skip or speed through them.
    I'm one of those guys who likes to repeat games even rpgs with certain builds or low level runs and see how far I can get without having to grind or use strong/counter items.
    This is a great video, thanks for mentioning all these details to us. I prefer the PC version with the mod but I don't always get the luxury of playing at home alot these days. I do wish the Switch version ran a lil better, it looks like a good port regardless but OUCH that price even on Digital is a bit much since I've replayed this so many times on ps2 and PC. But I do strongly recommend this game to first timers of Final Fantasy or people who just got into FF.

      It's an excellent game. It really feels like the last of the "traditional" (read: PSX-era) Final Fantasy games. The biggest departure from the PSX era is that the battles are proper turn-based instead of ATB. But even then, this opens up the ability to see the upcoming turn order and use that knowledge to your advantage in battles, planning moves a few turns ahead of time.

I can't tell you how many times I've found myself asking "Which version should I play?" when looking at an RPG with multiple ports. So, it's really convenient to have all this information bundled together, in an entertaining package to boot! Real quick about the bit on International with the language options, since I'm a bit familiar with this: Final Fantasy X International in Japan only had English voices, regardless of which language you chose. In fact, the Japanese text chat has been re-translated back to Japanese and no longer reflects the Japanese voice dialogue. This is incredibly obvious if you use an un-dub patch on this version and are playing with Japanese voices, as the Japanese text will be a complete mismatch to the voiced dialogue (for the most part). This is not the case with the PS3, PS4, PC, and so-on and so-forth versions of this game, where the Japanese text once again matches the Japanese dialogue.

    • @Mendinso
      @Mendinso 5 років тому

      As to why they did this, I imagine it has to do with a number of changes made to the English dialogue and scenes. While there's very (and I do mean very) few changes made to the cutscene lipflaps and the like, some of the dialogue had been modified significantly at times and may no longer reflect the Japanese dialogue. There's also one scene where Wakka is laughing in the English version, and in the Japanese version, he's talking during this scene. Square likely translated it back to Japanese to avoid confusion for speakers that have some level of knowledge of English. Not to mention, some of the few cutscene changes where the dialogue doesn't match the onscreen moments (such as Wakka laughing versus commenting to Tidus about what he said), would be awkward.
      Not to mention, Yuna's final line to Tidus was changed from 「ありがとう」 (Thank you) to "I love you" (I think the Japanese text uses 「愛してる」 in the back translation, but I can't remember, been awhile).
      Oddly, I don't think Square Enix really did this with Final Fantasy X-2 International. If it was, it was much more minimalist approach compared to what they did with X with back translating.

    I owned the original PS2 FFX International since 2002 and now had the PS3, PS4, Vita, and recently the Switch.
    For hardcore fan like I do and bought all the copies for each consoles, I'd say it's a matter of gameplay and style. For instance, the common team I used on my initial PS2 is Yuna, Tidus, and Wakka because Tidus and Wakka does a lot of damage on their overdrives and Yuna summon aeons. On my PS3 and PS4, I tried those characters I don't usually used as my main. For instance, Kimahri, Lulu, and Wakka for PS3, Auron, Rikku, Yuna on Vita, Tidus, Kimahri, Auron on PS4, and my switch main is Tidus, Yuna, and Wakka again just like my old PS2 team.
    For me, if the remaster graphics is looks good on you, then go for PC or PS4 even. (Or XBoneX, I don't own one.) But Switch, you can have it on the go or play docked and the graphics and draw distance is much better than PS2 era. Switch wins 1000% of all argument. Goodbye!
    EDIT: Yes I don't use Lulu much on my team. Magics is much better on Yuna. The only good magic Lulu has is she have a weapon the has 1mp cost, double cast and double power which is useless and long animation compared to combos of Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku using Quickshot.
