The Meta Quest 3 has FINALLY Launched!

- Hello and welcome to TUESDAY NEWSDAY! Your number one resource for the entire weeks worth of VR news! Well, Connect JUST happened and with it came a slew of announcement from Meta including the official launch of the Quest 3- Meta's newest VR headset. We also have a ton of news from Varjo to bigscreen and also a bit of a PSA until we get more information on the Immersed Visor.
And also speaking about the Visor; I REALLY hope it pans out and does well. Its a device that I would use daily- but I have seen quite a few crashes of VR hardware companies and I feel its super necessary to point things out while we're in the pre-order phase.
Trying to chill on the hype.

Quest 3 has launched. I'm obviously excited but I def don't think its for everyone. It's quite expensive. I spent $1000 for it and the strap. Ouch. Also I'm keeping a close eye on the Immersed Visor. I REALLY REALLY want the headset to be everything that's promised but after seeing hype trains and disappointment by quite a few companies before.. I gotta do my due diligence. I will try my hardest to get a unit and see what's up. Thanks guys.
Cool

Do you think 512GB is even remotely necessary? I personally don’t, but maybe you know that games are getting way bigger.
I woke up launch morning just waiting for the email to say pre-orders are live. Had the coin set aside for months. Look forward to getting mine, my Quest 2 got alot of use. Most fun was sharing it with friends/family and watching their reactions.
Thanks for all your hard work Thrill, always appreciated :D
Yeah, games have gotten quite a bit bigger. I originally ordered a 128gb but cancelled for a 512 when I remembered how big some of the news games are @@Alcatraz509

I think that’s about every week
Thrill you can’t be a Meta ambassador because you are an ambassador for VR enthusiasts in general, and the two roles aren’t always on the same side. I don’t mind that we have to wait for launch to get your review - it’s better than getting an early review that’s basically just an ad. Keep up the awesome work
The public needs to be aware of this program by Meta. It's a method for the manufacturer to influence "reviews" of their products. Reviewers who are critical of Meta's products risk losing membership or were never offered membership in the first place. And losing membership means losing early access to review samples among other benefits. This is straight up bribery by the manufacturer.
Any reviewer who has signed up for the program has compromised their integrity to get more views and their reviews can not be trusted because they have a conflict of interest. That means Meta is effectively controlling the early reviews of their products. Honest reviews won't be available until after the product is available to the general public. And honest reviewers are taking a hit to their views by not participating.
@@SargonDragonNone of what is currently available is a "review" dumbass... 🤦 It's all just early access looks from press events. Nobody has the headset for review yet. And saying that people like Mike from Virtual Reality Oasis have been "bought" and are "untrustworthy" simply because they agreed to attend said events feels like a GROSS misrepresentation and exaggeration of reality.
This! Stay true to yourself! Thanks for all your work!
Yeah I’d rather wait the extra weeks for a top-quality review I can actually trust from Thrill than watch a review from someone being paid/influenced by the manufacturer.
This 100%
Just want to say Thrill, don't feel the need to apologize for not being in the group of content creators given early access to the quest 3. Meta is a powerful company that many of us still do not trust. It's actually a GOOD THING in my opinion that you weren't chosen: you're going to given a truly honest opinion. Keep up the coverage! Excited to hear more thoughts about it all.

Please don't apologise for not being part of Meta's shill program.
I watch your videos because of your passion and honesty, the information you deliver about VR is second to none and your integrity is unquestionable.
Not being part of the access media is definitely a value-add for your channel, even if we have to wait a little bit longer.
It also says something about Meta when they neglect to include popular YTers like yourself.
I stopped watching every UA-cam channel that joined Meta's Ambassador program. And so should everyone else if they're looking for honest opinions about VR products. The program offers benefits to channels who will talk up Meta's products, so this is straight up bribery. Good on Thrillseeker for not being a participant in that sort of thing.
True but it means he misses out on the opportunity to change his channel name to Shillseeker

I preordered a Q3 and gave my Q2 to my son who's off at college. We'll be using them for Automobolista 2 where he kicks my butt.
I thought about doing a higher end headset this go round, but the Quest working both with PC and standalone as well as being a mature product line made me think that would be the way to go. That said some of those higher end solutions look really promising!
honestly the "mature product line" part is something many don't often mention
so many times I've been excited for a headset only for it to be hit with delay after delay because the company behind it doesn't have the infrastructure set up yet is very annoying, its got to the point where I only consider headsets from the big players, Valve, HTC, and meta, as good as something like the big screen beyond looks, I've been burned by smaller companies biting off more then they can chew to many times
and out of the big 3, meta is in the lead, HTC has fallen from grace a lot and Valve is taking A VERY long time to cook up the Deckard, so meta is just at the top right now
you may notice I didn't mention pico, and thats as simple as any device that comes from a company with bytedance behind it is one I am just not even going to consider
@@flamingscar5263 Imagine strapping a high tech device from china that close to your retinas. More people should be aware that ALL big chinese companies are state companies.

I love that you don’t rush to get a video out, always taking your time to get all the info we need. Thanks Thrill. ❤
Undisclosed tech giant? I thought it was intel.
you are one of the biggest vr creators I am somewhat shocked you didn't get to preview the quest 3
Maybe he is too honest and tells the truth.
Norm from Tested got to demo it briefly and he's honest af so that's not it
There are plenty of reasons, NDAs, and so on... It might be also he didn`t want to sign a few docs that could go against his own vision of journalism, big corps always try to "silence" criticism, one way or another, and if you check all reviews, they are, well, similar.
@@shippy1001 most "reviews" are just reading off Meta's own press releases and specs sheet. Completely worthless. Norm form Tested is the only one who went much more in depth with how he *felt* about the damn thing.
Love the content! You're the reason i'm developing my own vr game and got me into vr. Thank you!
I appreciate the work youve put into covering these launches and look forward to future VR news!
thanks for being consistent with the vr news thrill! we love u
Pre ordered the Quest 3 yesterday immediately. It's a nobrainer to me. Pancake lenses, 110 FOV, AR, 2x GPU power. Cant wait ❤
Same! It's been close to 5 years for my rift s, it's about time!
Quest 3 is basically the best wireless headset now
yeah either that or Pico 4
I have the Pico 4. As a standalone is quite lacking, and usb support for tethered VR is not as good and defined as using Virtual Desktop.
Virtual Desktop tethered is doable, but gives me BSOD on my pc, so I won't recommend it.
Hopefully will improve overtime, to become the best cheap alternative for PCVR.
@@ThrillSeekerVR Nah, i returned the Pico 4. It's just not as balanced and optimised as the Quest line. I'll stick with Quest. They are also investing so much more in the VR so it's a better ecosystem to be in for the future.
Pico 4 sucks imo. @@ThrillSeekerVR

Awesome video so excited for VR. Especially new quest 3. I'm surprised you aren't sponsored by quest and that you're not as big as some other content creators as you said. Crazy you say that because I've been following since your early days and you've always made the best VR content! Always un biased, full of information, and very entertaining. Thank you ❤
thanks so much for the info aout the quest 3 i love ur videos and i get so much info from u
I'm mostly curious how the Quest 3 holds up as a travel productivity device for editing on the go. If it's solid, it's worth the price.
I tried to use Quest 2 for work, but not single characteristics of device was ready to use for work. Like, resolution and fov to low with very small sweat spot, to heavy and hot, setting up mobile wifi every time take to much time.
I was kind of thinking that too. The visor looks amazing but its not here yet. I always found productivity apps like immersed to be almost great, but not quite there. Realistically I think its down to the onboard computing power of the quest 2. i'd like to think the lenses, extra 2GB of ram in the quest 3 and colour passthrough ought to help run these apps more smoothly. People say they have been using quest pro for this sort of thing, so this can only be better.
@@iraklimgeladze5223 if your looking for a work headset and not really gaming-ish id recommend the quest proq
Your coverage is always special and unique.. please bring on the Aero/BSB/Crystal comparison , love your reviews which as always great and super honest :D
I really appreciate that Thrill always takes his time to post a good video for us to make sure there's every info you can find about vr rn and not just the most popular headsets currently
Excited to see your review of the Quest 3, honestly it's better you're not a Meta ambassador because reviews are more trustworthy with no incentive and your own money going toward purchasing the product.
I cant wait to get mine ❤ Quest 3 is going to be such a step up
Just pre-ordered the quest 3! I'm upgrading from the quest 1, so this is a well received upgrade for sure 😁 We'll see how it goes!
thanks for keeping us up to date!
Great video thrill seeker I've been subscribed and watching for so long!! Im so hyped for this new quest; if I ever can get a quest again then this would be an upgrade over my old ones that got stolen, it would be a dream come true !!
Almost committed to the quest 3 with all the excitement but I'll definitely wait for reviews, especially yours.
Thrill is really seeking out for the perfect headset
love your work and passion for this content bro! much love

Intel CEO showed the Visor on stage during their keynotes.
Ohhh... That's interesting.
Definitely picking up a Quest 3. Excited that BoboVR is making an M3 strap for it, and even making a compatibility kit to use an M2 strap with the new headset!
Excellent video, always glad to get the updates here. The Meta direct wasn't quite what I was expecting this year.
So happy to have you deliver the VR news , always top quality man.
Just preordered it the other day. Got the quest 2 a few years back and have loved every minute in that thing so when I saw everything new and improved about the quest 3 I jumped straight for it. Can't wait to try out all the new features and improvements and compare to see the differences between the two.
Same boat as you, except i only use the quest with pcvr, even without using the standalone part it’s still an outstanding value, so I’m excited to see what’s going on with the 3
@@biosupdate7449 Yeah, I use it for pcvr too but sadly my computer isn’t too powerful so I end up needing to turn settings down despite me thinking a laptop with an rtx 3070ti would be good enough. Hoping double the graphics power means that gap will be filled enough that I won’t mind a complete switch to standalone and we hopefully see more ports of games that required too much more graphics power to run on quest 1 and 2.
Here’s hoping Phasmophobia can run on quest now
You know it’s going to be a good day when Tuesday Newsday gets posted
Another great video as expected. Thrill you always make great content

The take we were all waiting for
I wasn't invited to try out the Quest 3, but I bought one so I'll get that video done as soon as possible.
I agree with the Visor, but the Intel CEO was wearing one during the Intel keynote people say and I saw at least a picture of it. Certainly gives it far more legitimacy than this fake teaser don't you think?
Hmm not really. Anyone can make a prototype… that’s very very different from being able to make a consumer version at scale
You mean regular teaser.
@@divinelyshpongled So you say there is no difference between a mockup teaser video and the Intel CEO wearing a prototype of the device promoting it during the keynote...?
@@Leynad778nope I didn’t say there’s no difference. My point is that a prototype isn’t THAT meaningful, that’s all
I always enjoy watching your videos so thank you for putting the time into your content!
In my case, I've preordered the Q3 and planning of giving my Q2 to my daughter. I really need that passthrough quality upgrade and seems to be a good option in this case. Now, I hope it delivers at least enough so I can read the characters on my keyboard? lol
Great video Thrill! It feels like VR is going to get even more interesting in the next couple of years, especially with AI and AI-centric tech being developed at an accelerating pace. Also, there was a small graphic error at 5:40, you said commented on the price of the elite battery strap but displayed the standard elite strap, which is 69.99 instead of 129.99. Love your content, cant wait to see what you have coming down the pipeline!
Who else says "TUESDAY NEWSDAYY" with Thrill everytime 😅😅
As a casual Quest 2 owner I'm all in on Quest 3. I'll wait to see if third party addons match the charging dock and headstrap with battery and so on. But still undecided on the 128gb or 512gb. The price for the bigger one really is significant for me and its not like I'm a daily VR user. I have been impressed by it though and I'm excited. Really ready for upgrade, even getting the official lenses so I don't need to wear glasses, yay!
Been trying to decide which lenses to buy but it's so early there's not much to go off
well i ended up going for the 512GB headset and found out I couldn't have the lenses that Meta promoted as my prescription falls out of its range by a teeny tiny amount. Thankfully there are other companies offering or about to offer lenses who have better technology in making them so just waiting a while for that settle then will get a pair. Be good to hear feedback through reviews on if there are any differences or if pretty much all the companies are offering roughly the same and price really is all it will come down to@@swayde1228
Great work thrill. You are the go to content creator for VR. Your takes are on point.
Just preordered Q3 today. I hope I don't get disappointed.
You wont, its the best device on the market for that price and pico wont even come close to that in the future. Quest has the best games and library and software
Oh wow a notification, thanks UA-cam, didn’t know it did that! 😂🤦🏻♂️
The visor is crazy!
And nonexistent... let's see if it ever comes out
You just made my school lockdown way more entertaining.

Was waiting for you to drop a video on this! 😆
With all the pre releases and new headsets dropping. I'd love to see a video covering which you should buy for Christmas.
9 seconds and i got a notification
Well done youtube thats a first
The 512GB headset makes me think there will be some massive games coming out soon, that’s what I hope anyway
Mostly just allows them to sell a version with higher profit margins. Both still only have 8 GB RAM suggesting neither is being futureproofed for future games.
@@jeffreytongAsgards wrath is about 35gb I think. Along with all the upgrades to textures and other games like Assassins creed 512gb is essential!
I'm buying the Quest 3 as my first VR headset. Have demoed the PSVR, Oculus Rift, and Valve Index in the past but none of them were at a level of comfort, usability, and quality that I wanted so I've been waiting.
I'm really excited to finally dive fully into VR and see what's out there. My only concern is the lack of "real" games in the traditional sense. Hoping my free copy of AW2 will be good!
that's amazing, I do not need to search and watch more VR news separately, all I need is to watch your news where there is everything allin1 :) Thank You!
Honestly, even with the quest 3 finally out I think I would only upgrade to the new controllers just for better tracking. The headset does look amazing but nothing that big to convince me to buy the entire headset. I'm actually saving up to buy a set of base stations, full body tracking, and my headset that I'm aiming for is the Big Screen Beyond itself. I honestly think that the big screen beyond will fix my problems regarding the size, weight, and comfort. But I don't know, I'm kind of rambling. Thrill has convinced me to "Aim for the Beyond" lol
I was seriously considering the beyond, but changed my mind about it because i realized that I really really want wireless.
People have issues having to buy new cables even if cables are attached at ceiling and stuff.
@@Kana_108_ Yeah, I get that. Wireless IS actually really helpful to not think about tripping lol
But I've gotten used to using the quest link for over 5ish years. When the first Oculus quest came out I would always use it while it was on the charger because of the battery life. The OG Quest cable was much longer than the quest 2 was. I'm willing to loose the wireless experience.
When you do your Aero, BSB, Crystal comparison, please use the index as your baseline so we know how each one compares as an upgrade path. Would be really helpful to have something to compare them all to
-BSB if you want a lightweight headset that you don't intend to share
-Now with the price drop, the Aero is the cheapest and has the most accurate eye tracking.
-The Crystal is the only one with a refresh rate above 90Hz, and it also lets you use both base stations and inside-out tracking if you have the attachment for it. But it is also at least $600 more and extremely large/clunky.
Ordered the quest 3 now hope im going to love it :D
Looking forward to your videos on this. I did pre-order as well, but worst case my kids can use it if something better comes out this year.
If the secret "Tech Giant" is Apple and this is their plan for the "space-vr" thing… it could be huge. In fact, it positions Apple as the boss that sets standards and sells the expensive items… while others just follow their lead.
Lol
Why would Apple work with someone else to make a competitor to their own upcoming product? And for $500? Whatever you are on you should pass it around.
That's pretty far fetched. Apple has no history of doing anything like that. And it's hard to see any way Apple would benefit.

Is there something I don't know about the Somnium VR1 that's apparently on it's way to be released soon that is having it be so un-talked about? Is there something about it that sucks that I don't know? Cause it seems promising but no one's breathing a word about it.
Yeah, I'm waiting for it as well. I think main reasons why people don't talk about it as much is 1) it seemed similar to decagear - too good to be true at first, then small company failing to deliver (which I think Somnium is way further, so it will actually happen!) and 2) we still don't know price... not even roughly - I think (hope) it would be under 1000 euro/usd, but more people expect it around 2k ...without this information, you don't know to what to compare it and make any judgements.
@@Nachtom I would've atleast expected some people to cover it's recent info update. But given how little people seem to care about it it makes me worry that no one will review it. Because I'm not shelling out the money until I know it's good. But if no one reviews it that's a bit of a predicament. I'm kinda hoping Thrill will, but the lack of coverage worries me he won't.
@@Secarious I think it will get publicity after more information is released - like price or release date. MRTV was doing interview with creators of VR1, so at least there will be a review 100%. They are also planning to do presentation of VR1 for some VR influencers, and all about it is secret I guess, so they maybe can't talk about it now, but they will when they are allowed to. :)

Me personally, very impressed with the quest 3. But gonna wait for quest 4, bc maybe it'll come with eye tracking for that sweet sweet dfr.
HI man, I also love the immersed application. the idea to have have multiple screens to work on really amazes me. I have to buy my first headset, but I want to be sure I can use to play but more importantly to work so I was disappointed when discovered quest 3 with commercial price did not included the eye traking for the foaved rendering. I really dont know if it could still be usable to work if I cant move my eyes and the better detailed part of screen isnt rendered where Im looking at. could you please give me aome more info abou this issue? like, which headset donyou use with the immersed application? And, would it still be bearable with an headset that does not feature eyetraking with foaved rendering? very appreciated and thank for the quality videos 💪
Just pre-ordered the Quest 3, but learning it doesn't have local dimming to fix the black levels was heart crushing.
I love this channel, I need my VR fix ❤!
(QUEST 3)Seems like a revision to me tbh like they just added color to the cameras and made the displays a little bit better. (i have a high end gaming pc and mostly play in pcvr so the new proccesing chip doesn't matter to me much)
Still reluctant to buy anything from Meta or ByteDance but I'm super intrigued by whether Valve may release their own standalone headset after the Steam Deck
I look forward to your videos every single week even if it's been longer recently
wooo cant wait for the final bigscreen beyond review, hope its been treating you well
Quest 3 over any pico all day. The only thing pico does is spec it up with hardware, but software wise they are nowhere. Library wise neither. Quest aka Meta is going ALL IN on VR and their library and apps are SO much BETTER
For PCVR only users then there's a strong argument to be made for the Pico headsets, but if you use standalone at all then Quest will give you a much better experience
I'll stick to Quest for the future. Meta is investing so much more into VR. And Pico being Chinese, no thanks! Quest has always been better balanced, have better lenses and overal better optimised!
me when racism
@@tatugasshow6047to be honest I think it is much more complicated than racism. I think boiling it down to racism missed out a lot of the nuance
The Chinese markets have become increasingly unstable since COVID. And the Chinese government consistently act in ways that are against basic civil liberties and human rights. There are plenty of reasons to be anti Chinese that doesn't involve race.
having to order one from overseas isa definite negative, also the lack of real standalone stuff on the headset
How is the quest better balanced? Pico literally has the battery on the back, the pico 5 releasing in 6 months will have the same chip, pancake lenses gen 2, eye and mouth tracking and Display Port connection

Quest 3 > Any pico. Pico is Chinese garbage to me.
Loved the connect event. I’ll be preordering a quest 3. Can’t wait to play mixed reality demeo on my coffee table 😁
As a VRChat world creator, what I'm most excited about regarding the Quest 3 is the 8 GB of RAM. The Quest 2's 6 GB was always just a TINY bit shy of "enough" for VRChat, so that's why every Quest user always crashes: the headset runs out of memory. That shouldn't happen anymore on Quest 3, so i won't have to worry nearly as much about over-optimizing RAM usage in all my worlds, or hearing tons of complaints about crashing.
I was interested in making characters for VRchat. I use CC4 and iclone a lot and have a bunch of characters i would like to convert over. Ive never actually used VRChat but ive seen it a bunch and just ordered a Q3. Any idea on what limits i should look out for and any tips?
Looking forward to the review 🙏
I can not wait for that comparison video please comparison video asap
The Aero is really interesting considering that it's visually one of the best headsets AND it's got eye tracking so it's future-proof and ready for foveated rendering to become standard.
Pico 4 wireless with VD is exactly what I do now! Next upgrade will be when there's a perfect headset for productivity, high resolution, non-LCD displays with great contrast etc, something to truly be immersed into, even watch movies on a virtual cinema screen etc. Oh and no requirement for expensive impossible to get hardware like steam controllers. I'll definitely be watching the next PCVR comparison, and seeing what happens next year in that space.
