The monkey needs do be watertight- always check for mommanifold data. Then use it as obstacle. Maybe increase friction. Make sure to use a higher resolution and some surface tension.
For those who can't (don't understand) why nothing works (including RTX 4090+). 0) Use small cube like Suzanne 1) First of all, check the Resolution! By default, it is 950 (this is too much even for powerful hardware, set it to 200, or even better, 100 for testing). 2) In the min/max droplet settings - set the scale to 0.05 and 0.08 (for example, i.e. a value closer to 1 (big particles), because the default settings are very high). 3) droplet rate set it to 20, not 5000 (small amount). 4) And now you can click Bake. Try with these parameters, then you will understand which way to turn to get the best result.
For some reason, when I hit bake, the result still looks like the "noise" of droplets popping in and out of existence just like at 2:41. I followed the tutorial exactly as seen. just to test and still could not get it to work. There doesnt sseem to be any persistence to the drops, or gravity to pull them down. What am I doing wrong?

I don’t know any tutorial. I think surface tension could be helpful. Dynamic Paint and wetmaps is also a thing to take a look into. For some solo drops i would not go with a simulation. Depends on your requirements. You could send a prepared blend file to us and we take a look into your settings ;)

Hi there. I got the Flip Fluids package primarily for this awesome rain generator in Blender. I have a good machine for 3D with a Ryzen Threadripper 3960X CPU 24 Core. However, bake times for the suggested Suzanne scene shown (at a high res - 950) are extremely long: days! Can anyone tell me what a normalish bake time for this scene should be or better, what their experiences are with this simulator. Thank you. 😎😎😎🌧🌧🌧🌧☔
Hello Tomurow! The rain generator can only run in a high resolution as each generated drop is very small compared to domain-size. Unfortunately this results in long simulation times. We recommend to use this generator only for small scaled scenes (as example close-ups where rain drops are moving over a surface). For bigger scaled scenes a regular particle system or rain generator addon would be the better choice. Of course - you could combine both ;).

I suppose I was looking for a benchmark but I guess it’s gonna be a demanding simulation as you have described! The results look great though. We recommend to try this with our free demo version. Highres should work without any issues. But it also depends on your system configuration. Let us know id you need support in creating a scene.
hello dear Flip fluids did you correct that issue on your addon in Blender ! when using keyframe of slowmotion and simulation itr missedUp !!! for example : im doing simulation , its oky i like it now i want to freeze some frame when i want to see water or milk splash the bottle when i use thos keyframe in your addon , the simulation gonna be differente can you correect this issue please !! im waiting for your update of this issue thnx .
You would need to Keyframe the simulator‘s speed as well - otherwise it keeps simulating with the real time. A speed field is available in the domain settings. Let me know if this is helpful.

No - the small drops need a very high simulation resolution what decreases the speed. You should use a very small domain and use the raingen only in areas where a real rain behavior is required. For all around we recommend to use a regular particle system.
It sounds like to need a higher Resolution for simulating the small drops. If nothing helps please share your blend file with us. We can then check what’s going wrong.
@@FLIPFluids seems rendering my animation out with CPU instead of my gpu has fixed all of my issues…. From random frames where all of the geometry and particles vanish, to the motion blur going whack, to crashes after crash… this plugin does not work well with GPU rendering at all. But seems just fine with the CPU

I was struggling to find it as well. So the Rain Generator is located within this file "FLIP_Fluids_Addon_Presets_v1.2.5_(25_sep_2023).zip" that is 1 of 6 downloads where you downloaded the Flip Fluids add on. @@tgs1766 Hope that helps
Just checked this. It´s there. Please make sure you have downloaded the latest version (1.3.0) and unpacked all files in your assets-directory. Check also, that you set the right path in the addon´s preferences.
Mad respect for programming all that. I play a lot around with this addon and it is definitely fun

I got to made it work, not sure what is happening. but after I place a dummy fluid in the domain, the mesh of the rain finally showed. Thank you.

I run the bake and then nothing happens after it finishes. No mesh, no particles, nothing works.
