For information The reason for having worse FPS when you turn off the DLSS/FSR/CIG TSR is because the game will render your native resolution and in this video is full 4k. When you select Quality at 66% you are no longer in native 4K but you actually render 34% less pixels and the algorithm fills in the rest with "best" match of what the pixels should have been - this is why on some angles when you pan too fast or look at the edge of your screen when upscaling is enabled you see blurry graphics.

And the newer NV 555.85 driver brings DLSS 2.0 to Star Citizen. Well I can't use the new driver due to Nvidia, and I can't use a feature of the game because of Nvidia lol. In game you can press ~ to open the command console and type/paste (without quotes) "r_displayinfo 1" or "r_displayinfo 2" to bring up some stats like fps, server fps, ping, session ID, etc. "r_displayinfo 0" will disable it. The client will remember previous commands across sessions, so you can just enter all of them, and just use up and down arrow keys in the console if you want to quickly toggle them. I've heard it said that this can cost you like 1-5 fps while displayed, but I haven't seen that myself.
Star Citizen needs at least 32 the gigs of ram, but it doesn't use much more than that. I have a 64 and 128 GB system running and it really doesn't go much past 30 GB when running the game. A much much larger impact on game performance is the speed of the memory. The game runs faster on my 32 gigs of RAM DDR 5 than it does on the 64 gigs of RAM at DDR 4
I'm currently torn between upgrading my CPU or GPU, I have a 5800x3d with 64gb ddr4 ram 6800xt, could you recommend which would be a more worthwhile improvement for running the game?
@CaspersGhost618 that's a tough call because they are both fairly equivalent. I would say if you have the option max out the speed and generation on your RAM. Your capacity is fine, but at the moment Star Citizen seems to really benefit from the fastest ram you can make available on your machine. The next thing I would do is maybe update the CPU in your case to a higher tier. The CPU and GPU affinity and Star Citizen is about mixed right now and your GPU should be more than enough. I would bet that you may get more squeeze for your buck out of a higher grade of CPU

Change it back to DX 11 by doing the below.

2. Open this file for editing: %localappdata%\Star Citizen\sc-alpha-3.23.0_nzfk0d_0\GraphicsSettings\GraphicsSettings.json
3. Change "GraphicsRenderer": 1 to "GraphicsRenderer": 0
4. Open the RSI Launcher and relaunch the game
@@Aluiries I know, but it still doesn't change the fact I can't use Vulkan and DLSS doesn't work with D3D11 and has absolutely 0 gains. Not to mention Nvidia's new driver 555.85 causes starcitizen.exe to stop responding or freeze now which then forces me to revert back to 555.22 driver. And the newer NV 555.85 driver brings DLSS 2.0 to Star Citizen. Well I can't use the new driver due to Nvidia, and I can't use a feature of the game because of Nvidia lol. Also Note: Vulkan works fine in other games such as Doom, Doom Eternal, and DLSS works fine in Cyberpunk 2077. So its not my system. Either it is Nvidia, or it is Star Citizen that is the problem. It is also more likely to be Nvidia that is the problem, because upon researching the 555.85 driver a lot of people are having issues in multiple other games that have been reported.
i cant go in fullscreen. how can i fix that?
No more full screen it is removed. Now only windows and borderless

Small help -- can you link me to complete Nvidia CP settings also thank you! afain ^^
Glad to help, what you mean: link me ?
@@infinitespace239 You metioned the Nvidia CP settings are same as in other videos and we can find full setting in them. Could you share a link to such one video for me to reference and match same setting, as the part you showed in this video helped me a lot I mean A LOT. So wanted to completely mirror your settings :)
Game still crawls on Ultrawide. Did these and still run at like 40-50 Fs at 1440 Ultrawide with 5900x, 64GB, 4080 Super, NVMe and installed on C: Drive
Yeah, sadly it has a long way to go.
After the update , after 29 may I hope they will fix the video settings cuz is impossible I have high end pc and 50-60 fps in the city ..
Wish I could get half that with my i7 12700, 3070, and 32gb of ram
you complaining about 50-60fps when thats considered solid frames...
Play it on Linux, bam, doubled my FPS this way with R5 3600 and GTX 980 Ti with 32 Gb of RAM. I went from 20ish in cities to 40 just by freeing CPU ressources!
Nice find. I have to try that. Thanks o7
Any tips for +10 server fps?
Cuz what good are 200fps if servers are a lagfest on 4.2Fps
You have to have a lot of friends and when you see them online right click and see the server with less people, lower the number it can be better but not always. Time R_displayinfo=3 to see server FPS, higher FPS, better server . o7
so with Vulkan Beta i always crash after a couple of minutes of playing with out of memory error i have 32GB Ram, 5600x and 6650xt. anyone have this issue or know a way for me to fix this?
This is a well-known problem and is affecting lots of us. Vulkan is still experimental and isn't fully implemented yet, so hopefully it will continue to get more work over the next few patches. The workaround for now is to stay with DX11.
Yes, and try deleting shaders catch from your user, local, app Data Star Citizen.
Ahh, deleting shader cache/user folder , the "turn it off and on again" of SC xD
Thanks all for the ideas and info
Wont water very high just tank fps?
For me it doesn't change anything, but do check your own PC.
I have to restart and i return here to write if i see any improve in the game , just 5 minute
This tutorial did nothing for me except worsen my game's performances, after following your advices it run 8 to 15 fps top while I had a "solid" 50 fps before. And now I'm struggling to go back to the old settings ...
Be sure to be on a good server, if you are on a bad server you will have even worse performance. If you did everything right it will improve your FPS no question about it. o7
Very good video. One question: How to solve that part of the game files such as Shaders are installed on C: even the game has been installed on another physical (much faster) ssd? In my case the game has been installed on a raid0 ssd. Thank you!
Sadly I have not searched for that because all my discs are SSD.
@@infinitespace239 mine too but C: is not raid0 ;-) anyway thank you friend
Good question. I’d like to focus the shader cache on one of the nvme drives but there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the directory yet, seems to default to the C drive
@@Scoso88 Yeah for now it is always C , sadly.
Disabling the high precision event timer for some reason prevents me from logging into the persistent universe. I can still login to arena commander game modes though. Is there a workaround to my issue?
I have not experienced that, sorry.
That's cause he doesn't even know what it does.
He talks out of his ass recommending random bullshit he thinks improved his game.
Your computer uses HPET to measure FPS among other things so your FPS counter will be wrong if you turn it off, possibly higher too, even though your frames don't go up.
@@j.d.4697 lol, how people can be arrogant and think they are the smartest: While HPET is an extremely precise timer (14.32MHz) which in theory would mean that it would perform the best, in practice when tuning your system for gaming it seems that HPET is too precise bogging down your machine.
Gaming seems to benefit from comparatively less precise but more stable and consistent timers and ticks (TSC 3.32MHz) that have a beneficial impact on your percentiles and low FPS. In short, the level of precision HPET offers is not needed when gaming and will result in worse performance overall.
In other words, some games can benefit some not, Star Citizen is definitely benefiting since is not optimized game. Good day to you.
@@infinitespace239 Problem seems to have fixed itself. I probably just happened to be trying to login to the server at a poor time, and it was a coincidence. Game seems to run much better now. Tyvm.

Had my setting tweaked watched your previous video with no DLSS talked about & gain double FPS again cool story ill stick to my settings 50+ fps @ Orison & 90+ fps in space 4k 120hz HDR High settings...........
You do you. I am satisfied with my settings mate. This is a tutorial for new players, you can't expect to gain double FPS if you have already tweaked the game lol
@@infinitespace239 I'm not trying to give u shit you are actually very good at doing the videos but those settings and the video before where you state you can get double fps yeah lol alright ur dreaming in 4k i know I have a decent rig and turning things down like volumetric clouds gives you more frames without to much of a visual loss to have everything high or ultra is fine if you like running around at 15 to 20 fps in 4k but most people don't want that and some of those settings just don't work.
@@AndyTheDriverFools I get you but the game was like that in 3.22, anything below very high was bad and did not give better performance, 3.23 is much better. o7

37-80 4k depends on the number of players and server performance and place on Orison. o7
Game runs smoother for me but now the doors and elevators don't work T_T
That is server related, sadly try changing servers. o7
Bro I followed everything you said and now I can’t start the game lol been trying to get on for a while

No, But you can still benefit. I set it up too on my laptop with 64 GB.

@@BoBoZoBo I just purchased a 7900xtx, gonna keep my eye open for a good am5 deal and hold tough for the 9800x3d, I play on a high dpi 1440p monitor so I guess I can just downscale from 4k with that.
@CaspersGhost618 well I would recommend setting the target resolution for what you play at and then use one of the new upscaling features get you there with efficiency

@@infinitespace239 ah, my buddies with 3080s are getting 60-90 in new babbage
Be careful using his virtual ram trick on an ssd it can eat up its lifespan just buy more memory its dirt cheap right now especially if on ddr4
I said that in the video, and also I am using it for 2.5 years so nothing happened. It is not always used, only when your memory is full.
the option is only used when the system ram is full. otherwise the allocated space is left unused. thus not shortening the lifespan from use.
use,, losless scaling program,, i got up to 4 times framerate
You made a mistake 😅. To switch to Vulkan, you need to restart the game. Simply switching from DX11 to Vulkan isn't enough you must restart the game for it to take effect And the same goes when switching from Vulkan to DX11 😅. Visually, nothing changes in comparison the only difference is in performance and stability.
Well I was playing over hot fix, so I didn't notice any problems after switching. I could instantly see fps going up after switching to dx11

30fps flying around a city like new Babbage is normal even for a 4080. Out in empty space you should be getting way way more frames per second.. what CPU are you using? And how much system ram (not vram)? Unfortunately, right now this game is more CPU throttled than GPU throttled.
