The 250GTO was the first car I ever fell in love with. A 1/32 scale Revel slot car was my first. Still absolutely gorgeous. The '63 is my favorite year.
I remember seeing Derek racing a Daytona Cobra at the TT Trophy at Goodwood. His co-driver was his Dad. I love the GTO though, my favourite is a particular '63 chassis but officially re-bodied with a '64. It was driven by my favourite driver, another Hill - Graham.
@4:35 Why would anyone disturb the beautiful sound of a Colombo V12 with some canned background music? The engine sound is all that's needed. Anything else is an interruption. Otherwise, great video.
It's sad that they don't make awesome cars like these anymore... I think it's even sadder that kids now a days don't appreciate old cars and the history they have. They are more interested in Bugatti's, Lamborghini's and any other modern day poster car.
M Rod Yeah, where they care more about what kind of engine it has, how much power it produces, how fast it is, how much it costs in comparison to its competitors, and how fast it can lap the Nurburgring. I feel you.
M Rod I'm 24 years old and this is my all time favorite car. I love this car to death. I also love the Miura, the 300SL, the 250 GT, the Dino 246 GT, the 65 Impala, the 67 Impala, the Shelby Cobra 427 S/C...I could keep on going. I also love the LP670, the SLS AMG, the Aventador, the V12 Vantage and the Noble M600. To put it simply, I love cars irrespective of when it was made or how large the engine is. I remember when I first saw the 250 GTO...10 seconds was all it took and it was my all time favorite car. I think the reason why my generation has a fascination for all things modern is quite simply because we've never been exposed to these cars, we never grew up seeing cars like the 250 GTO or anything I list. We grew up seeing Skylines and Lambos. I think you'd be surprised how many people my age do love these cars. That said, you're right...far too many don't even know about these amazing cars. My generation aren't the brightest.
M Rod Don't worry theres some out there who genuinely cherish the simplicity and the awe inspiring elements these cars have brought to the world. Newer cars make you feel numb in comparison to cars of this era. Always a tradeoff with advancing in technology...
WOW. Sound of heaven. Blows me away every time I hear an historic Ferrari. We've lost so much in noise and sound because of today's over computed mechanical perfection

@Wesley Seqhobane - I wouldn't say he was ravaging it, more like driving it the way it was designed to be driven - precisely, carefully and with respect for its abilities. That engine sound is intoxicating. Thank you for sharing this video. It truly made my day. What a car!!!!
I only recently came upon this UA-cam channel and its already become one of my favourites
I don't normally like older Ferrari cars, but when I do, they are impossible to own.
Not for the wealthy. Some people can't afford a Yugo.
I'm in the Testarossa range right now. But lets say I did sell a few properties and slept in a tent... I still can't have this car. Wealth can't get you everything. Some automobiles are impossible to own.
walperstyle
the problem isnt money its rarity. just trying to find some to sell you one would be a huge challenge
walperstyle Just don't buy a Testarossa. It's the ugliest Ferrari, perhaps even the ugliest car ever made. Unless you meant the 250 Testarossa in which case you'd have to sell your properties and live in a Tent too :D
um...I grew up in the 80's. How dare you claim my generations supercar ugly!
Petrolicious, which camera you guys use for your videos? The quality you guys deliver is amazing.
Probably a Red.
***** I doubt it.
Mojo Risin canon 80D
this is DSLR quality, Orlando is probably right a 80D or something standard. The shot I don't get is the interior shot. This guy is on it and no camera shake. How did he do that? Strapped a monopod down? No gimbal could do that.
iPhone
bravo Petrolicious! Best video every and I have seen all of your videos. My fave will always be the 62 but the sound raises hair on my neck. Whoever thumbs downed this video does not like cars what so ever
Another stunning film. What people don't realise is how important the sound is here in these films. Some say sound is fifty percent of a movie. That is certainly true when making a film about the GTO. The sound element is so difficult to do and is overlooked by so many channels. Well done!
Driving that must be like the most expensive (and best) therapy session ever. What a sound. Beautiful car..i love how its driven. Cars aren't meant to sit in showrooms.
I'm one of those few people who actually think the Series 2 looks better. It's an astonishingly beautiful car, and that sound... Perfect.
04:12 to 04:44 is beyond a lottery win...I can't even dream this perfectly. Thanks Petrolicious, that POV and soundtrack are conveyed in a way without parallel.
Beautiful car, beautiful sound! Also this video was shot very well!
I've driven one of these into a paint booth, best yet scariest few minutes of my life.
The sound of those down shifts are epic!
The sound is like playing with a satisfying toy, it always delivers
@4:35
Why would anyone disturb the beautiful sound of a Colombo V12 with some canned background music?
The engine sound is all that's needed. Anything else is an interruption.
Otherwise, great video.
One of the best video,i have see on youtube, this car is a masterpiece...thanks from Italy
BEST car video on UA-cam... Winner : Petrolicious !
Edward Lees SunRiseCars agree
love the video, even better the car and even better the sound!
love this gens cars.... I'm 19 and this is one of my dream cars
Yeah you are right. My dream car is Ferrari F-40.
M Rod Don't worry theres some out there who genuinely cherish the simplicity and the awe inspiring elements these cars have brought to the world. Newer cars make you feel numb in comparison to cars of this era. Always a tradeoff with advancing in technology...
***** Remember the LOLs the GTR had at LeMans flipping twice and nearly killing 2 drivers?...And you dream about that? haha
How can a car that's so ferocious also be so lovely? SImply amazing. Great driving, too, Mr. Hill.
WOW. Sound of heaven. Blows me away every time I hear an historic Ferrari. We've lost so much in noise and sound because of today's over computed mechanical perfection
oh the sound, the sound, THE SOUND!
I watched this with headphones on, and i must say, my body just cried...
That sounds brilliant, I could listen to it all day.
It makes me cry, just how wonderful and beaty that 250gto car is. My number 1 car in the world is 1962-64 250gto and specially that body. Thanks to Derek and channel for best car stuff here. Perfect.
Eargasm! What a beautiful car. Thank you for sharing and driving this great car in such a picturesque location.
I wanna take a moment to admire the set of steel nuts this man has to absolutely ravage a $40 million car 🙇🏽♂️🙇🏽♂️🙇🏽♂️
@Wesley Seqhobane - I wouldn't say he was ravaging it, more like driving it the way it was designed to be driven - precisely, carefully and with respect for its abilities. The man is the son of the late world famous driver, Phil Hill, so I'm sure he is more than capable of protecting this valuable bit of history.
Its 52M$
Now 70mil in 2020
@@shubhamdahekar2451 i think one sold for like 72million
I can never keep track of, or distinguish all the variations of the 250.
But man, does this one get driven hard; and I say that in a good way.
That V12 still sounds so beautiful
This car has been my ringtone for years (thanks to Petrolicious having a download available at the time). Watching the 2023 "Ferrari" movie I even thought my phone was going off as a couple of the film cars were pulling up into the Ferrari factory... I loved that the film did it right enough that I could tell it was a Ferrari V12.
Every year I come back to watch this masterpiece. Love every second of it.
That in car view was just amazing. Thankyou.

Mr Hill, Thank you so much for the beautiful footage, through the twisties.I feel its one thing to see and dream (and why not) about a Ferrari, most Ferraris but put a GTO after it and whoa .............
This is the first engine, I would honestly say that "I could listen to all day long, everyday & never tire of." It's just absolutely beautiful to listen to. I'm awestruck! Wow :O
5:09 literally gave me goosebumps
