Take note! 1 problem that has become obvious with this otherwise excellent sub-250gm Mustang is that the plastic used for the pop-off prop system has had to be made harder and stiffer (and thus more brittle!) than the plastic used on the smaller 1-cell brushed motor Volantex V761-5 Mustang to cope with the extra power. We've broken 1 of the 2 supplied after only the second day of flying. This type of plastic has also been noted to be prone to breakages when used on the Horizon Hobby Zone versions of the TopRC Mini Mustang. Parts for this plane (and the Hobby Zone ones) don't appear to be available yet. Possibly you can use a normal swaging prop adapter for the 2mm shaft though that might lead to bending the thin shaft - not a desirable event since it would very badly affect the gyros. The ideal is to use a rubber band attachment or to use a T-mount motor in combination with a flexible plastic propeller. The latter has been very successful with the LDARC TinyWing450x delta wing. In more than 3 years of flying them we have yet to break a prop or damage a motor.
Good info, thanks. I have noticed that since popping off a couple of times, there is now a slight noise and vibration which could be a result of the prop saver losing its virginity. Nothing serious, just spoils the otherwise quiet flying.
Nice to see this one flying Pete. It does seem quiet. I have about 18 of the 400mm Volantex war planes and love flying them low and close to me on my channel and slowing the footage down too. Make for some great shots. I prefer these to my larger planes. Regards, Laurie.
18??! That's a real hanger load! Yep, I like the little stuff too, especially because I can just nip out our back gate and fly around on a calm summer evening. Love this brushless version :-)
@@Pete-RcAirplaneWorld Yep that's one reason. I love I can fly low and close without hurting myself of anyone. They are very light and safe, so no crash anxiety. And I can fly on windy days when my large planes are grounded. Keeping my eye on this 2S brushless.
Since you are awkwardly flying this with the provided Mode 2 transmitter rather than the Volantex V761 Mode 1 transmitter that KidsToyLover provided you for the 4-ch Ranger 600, I presume that you tried to bind this to that Tx (by plane on first then Tx) and it did not work? So you can say that the 2 are on different protocols, Pete? 🤔
Oztreecrasher, I really don't understand your obsession with Volantex Tx protocols. You seem more interested in them than the planes 😂. My vids are to introduce these great little models to new flyers and give a general review and overview, as I am asked to by KTL. Perhaps you could start a YT channel on rc transmitters and protocols??
@@Pete-RcAirplaneWorld Nope Pete, no indelible video evidence of any of my indiscretions shall ever be posted. I can explain away any written posts with the (possibly not untrue) claim that I am a better liar than any Texan. But videos will be a prima facie piece of evidence should the legal eagles ever decide that they would like to prosecute any faux-pas I might have committed! 😉😊 I'm sorry that you are unable to take more than a commercial interest in these little toys. Anybody interested can look up the extra information on the RCGroups thread on this (and any other) plane that takes their interest. It only took me a couple of minutes to check out the details of the protocols used when we opened the box today. We'll leave you in peace.
The protocol used on this is the same as that used on the Volantex Ranger 600. So you can use the transmitter from that. The only feature you lose over flying with the transmitter supplied with the new brushless 500mm P-51 is the "find lost plane" capability. For others coming here seeking information - just Google RCGroups Volantex brushless 500mm P-51.
