Review from "Seattle New Musical Magazine" April 5, 1995: "One year after Kurt Cobain's passing, here is the album that Nirvana fans have been waiting for. "Dire" is the ultimate testament to Cobain's creative genius, which continues to shine even in these minor pieces, and which, we assume, will continue to shine forever".
-------------------------------------
"...In Italian, "dire" means "to speak". When I woke up from a coma in Rome, everyone wanted me to say something, even though I was in a dire situation. I think our next album will be titled just like that, "Dire". I'll say what's left to say, even if the situation is dire. Funny, isn't it?"
(Kurt Cobain, interview to "Seattle Chronicles Today", March 31, 1994)
--------------------------------------
....no, not really. This is NOT a real album (and the review and interview are fictional).
It's just a personal compilation of unreleased Cobain's songs (with original Cobain's voice), completed with instruments by the brilliant people in the following list:

I've wanted a fifth Nirvana album for 30 years, the ones I found on UA-cam i didn't like much, now I'm satisfied. Even if I missed the concert in Rome (that year I said to myself "next year they will come back, that's for sure"...).
BTW: i have uploaded this album exactly 29 years, 2 days and 11 hours after I learned of Kurt's death. I could have waited another year, but i'm old and life is short. Sorry.
---------------------------------------------------------
NOTES:
This is NOT an AI-generated album.
This is NOT A REAL NIRVANA ALBUM.
This is NOT a COVER BAND album.
This is NOT A BOOTLEG.
Last but least, this was NOT made to make a profit.
This is just a fictional album, fan album, whatever you want.
Made with original Kurt songs and vocals, plus new instruments.
If you like it, i'm glad. If you don't , i could not care less. Bye ;)
I've gotten to the point where, if anyone's "fooled" by this, it's their own damn fault for jumping the gun and not taking mere seconds to read the description. The presentation is a bit weird but the music is good and it seems in good faith so there's no reason to get bent out of shape.
Easy bro! I think its a good job! And fans are happy about it!!!
It is good though, but misleading
I did read the description and no where does it claim to be anything but Nirvana, which it is not. Unethical.
@@emryssong So you did'nt read the description
simply great music. love it.
Just know that there is another universe that we all live in, where Kurt got healthy and the band continued on. Listening to this is probably the closest we - on this plane get to experiencing that, but it’s still there; right beside us. :) long live NIRVANA
we all want that. how realistically can we think that nirvana stays together after 1994 dave could’ve went on to do his own thing and kurt was destroying his voice hard. his voice would’ve aged 10 times worse than mccartneys has
Do Re Mi with drums is super dope.. Well done...
Its complete and you crushed it...Seriously nice job.
not my job. Mockup by user "TheBeginningOfMusic"
bro this is the most realistic fan album i found
Thanks. I have made the tracklist (and improved the bass tones on some tracks) thinking to something similar to In Utero. Also, "Weirdo" as last track has the same function as "Endless, Nameless" on Nevermind - a sort of dark ending.
@@Antanix I feel like if we got a real last Nirvana album it would be the best. Kurt was saying how he wanted to make more acoustic songs and I feel like that would make for a great album.
Voice is not convincing at all. He wouldn’t have written some of these melodies though, too complicated. Bass and guitars are pretty accurate though.
@@troynixdorf778ut he did write all of those riffs, And the vocals is young Kurt.
look up bunkbedcoffin or sumshit ...closest thing ivenever seen
I love listening to Kurt's singles with bass and drums, it adds a whole new dimension to them.
Agreed.
"I could have waited another year, but i'm old and life is short. Sorry." Poignant
Definitely an In Utero vibe. I understand why this is here, and I respect the hell out of it. The mention is lacking on Poison's Gone. That shit speaks to me on different notes, especially if you look up the lyrics. This is perfect, man. Thank you. For everything.
to be honest it kinda sounds like soundgardens superunknown album but nirvana version.
This is awesome. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that went into building these mock studio tracks. Sounds great! So satisfying as a fan to be able to enjoy some "new" Nirvana tracks. Keep up the great work!
This is really, really well done, and a beautiful homage IMO.
❤
49 years old Nirvana fan from Poland. I missed Nirvana concert in Cech Republic and I was sure that next year they will come to Poland and I'll see Nirvana live. "Oh well, whatever"... Thank you for your work, good work! Nirvana forever in my heart. PS. I miss "You know you're right"...
Oh i didnt even know they ever played in Czech Republic. Whats the date? Because i cant find any footage online.
@@Adomavo You see, after so many years I remember mainly my feelings about that I could not go to Cech to see this show, but I forgot that it was cancelled. If it was cancelled ;-)
dude this needs a spotify upload
This is fucking awesome, been listening to it on repeat for 3 days now. So good to hear these tracks with full potential, amazing work dude!
Check out another Sub Pop band called Metz if you haven’t already. My favorite album of theirs is Metz II 🤘
Glad you liked our version of IVY LEAGUE enough to use that one.
Thanks for the shout out in the description aswell!
You just mixed the studio and the live vox on top it
@@xx7secondsxx yes
I was gonna hate this but it’s great
I love it!!! How fun... It truly almost sounds like something Kurt may have released as a kick in the ass back to the record companies for fkn with his vision on In Utero! Lmao Thanks bro, Excellent piece of work!
that was exactly my task - an ideal prosecution to In Utero (probably just "Talk To Me" is slightly out of place). Most of the credit goes to the wonderful mockups by TheBeginningofmusic.
This is great! I was a little unsure about it at first, but the more I listened to it I loved imagining Kurt, Kris, and Dave jamming on these songs. I think you and the other people involved in the project did a fantastic job bringing his demos and home recordings to life. Thanks for one of the best fan-made Nirvana compilations out there! Some of these songs like "Come on Death" and Ivy League" I was not very familiar with or had heard watching the Montage of Heck documentary but I still didn't know them very well. Now I love them!! Been a fan since like '92-93 and still discovering new Nirvana music is a real treat! I knew songs like Do Re Mi and "And I Love Her" very well, but this video adds a bit more depth to the tracks. Thanks for this I've been listening to it a ton, great job!
18:35 when Kurt's voice fades away and then the cello keeps playing just makes this track even better. some kind of somber, gothic feeling.
i think thats an acoustic guitar
@@auxxik5234 there’s a cello that has been overlayed
Amazing work !! Thank u for all the arrangements done in each track! 😊😊
read description. Credits go to that people
This has been emotional listening to this. Stellar job. Very surreal hearing this. Amazing work.
This real or fake
Kurt demos, this guy added all the other instruments and.m made into what would be an album
This is very well done man 🔥 and I really like the album cover and track list choice. I wouldn't change anything. You really understand what Nirvana was.
I don't usually comment on yt, but this is really amazing. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your service
I don't understand the hate. You're not doing this for ad revenue, this is a labour of love. I've tried the same thing in my Apple Music to try and imagine what a 4th album would have sounded like, piecing together a good flow of tracks from demos etc figuring out what tracks would make sense in their musical trajectory, imagining what a "quieter" album would have sounded like given Kurt's desire to make something like Automatic for the People, trying to find artwork to fit the mood and something that wouldn't feel out of place with the rest of their albums. You, my friend, achieved all of that. Absolutely nailed it. The intro into Do Re Mi is sublime, the order of the tracks has clearly been heavily considered - all in this fun package. Great job!
Thank you, you have exactly hit the point. This video is not monetized, I have a 15 year old channel, I'm not a youtuber and I'm not interested in doing so. The paradox is that EVERYTHING on UA-cam today is created to monetize and nobody complains. Then people find a personal compilation with an innocent clickbait and then complain ;) As for the songs, they were all created by other people. I just created a "plausible" album with those mockups, mainly leftover tracks from Montage of Heck, redone in studio version. And yes, i put a certain attention to the tracks order. The video has surpassed 100,000 views, so it means people like it. Those who don't like it may as well not listen to it.
i love both of yours souls guys
@@glebtoporkov4387love you too
48 year old Nirvana fan here with Brixton academy tickets booked in London '94 but unfortunatley after Rome it was postponed! Thank you for doing this :-)
I’m impressed! Amazing job.
I was familiar with some of these home recordings but I am honestly impressed with overdubs; they're tasteful and add a dimension to the songs.
I thought this was an officially new released album and started freaking out, great stuff
thanks for the upload. i wasn't there im almost a decade too young but damn i miss him so much
Ok so far I'm like 2 minutes in but I already love what you have done here❤ do re mi was always my favorite of kurt cobain's solo work, it was always special to me for some reason and I never even imagined hearing it this way. I am so fucking stoked to hear the rest of this!
Do re mi has been one of my favorites since I heard it years ago. When it first started playing I thought it was going to be the same demo but it blew me away and let me know to listen to the whole album.
I also love do re mi. I agree completely with your comment!
Friend in 92 gave me about 5 recorded tapes of Nirvana, home recordings, live and what not. A real treasure. Sometimes I come across one more song to complete my listening experience, but I don't think we have more that are public. Then you hear about songs that were never released and Courtney is holding onto them - I wish she would let them go.
кортни хочет за них очень много денег
Hey man ! Me tow. I'm a fan, yes, a treasure ..
But, Courtney is so Bad ...

This is probably my favorite fan nirvana album!
Totally FAKE.WAKE UP FELLAS
Yeah fucken awesome IV Is awesome also
This is Incredible. Thank you
I’m going to say the vast majority of us are really happy to hear these, however you’ve cobbled them together. I reminded of fan Star Wars edits that are better than the originals, done by people who love Star Wars so goddamn much they’ll go to amazing lengths to make something beautiful for everyone to just have. ❤
Perfect! This is the month Of Kurt and Layne and I play at least 1 album a day! Cheers
Thanks for making this the raw conclusion we all needed. Still Mourning him daily. Thank u. Will paint to this in NYC
Really like this. Nicely done. It seems to be done with a reverence and respect
I love this it’s so cool and I love how you gave songs like do re mi so much better quality ❤❤ true talent honestly
Hell yeah this is fantastic! Thank you
Well done, mate! Excellent work 👏
Well done! Thx
AAAAAAAA THE TRANSITION FROM OPINION TO BURN MY BRITCHES IS SO GOOD
AMAZZING... Tusen takk 🎶🌌💫
Man, I just want to say thanks! Awesome work! Whatever you want to call it, AWESOME and sad at the same time😢
Really cool to hear opinions like this.
this is really effing good.thank you for all your hard work
From a 46 year old Nirvana fan that had all their albums and bootlegs back in the day, this really does sound like something around the bleach, incesticide era... Really well done 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Same here, 48. Really needed a "new album" after some years. Final result is more like In Utero though
Same, 45. I use to do barter jobs and trade or sell pot for stuff like this. Now i can just youtube it, sit back and enjoy pretending im back there instead of here
Saw them in Vancouver back in 94. Not sure about this though.
i'm in denial of my age but seems i'm a spritely young 43 - ..i'm not sure kurt would have used any of these songs on his next album - or maybe he would have cut bits of them together... i mean they all have the kurt touch... but lack it as well.. sounds to me like a collage of "ideas" that may or may not have ever made the cut
bleach and incesticide were done when?
Just... thank you
Valeu!!! Eu já havia ouvido essas canções, mas a qualidade não era boa...essas ficaram satisfatórias. 👏👏👏👏
Burn the rain is such a hypnotic riff
It grooves so fucking hard
It sounds a lot like one I wrote before I ever heard it and it creeped me out.
Fantastic job!
thank you
Sorry just read the description fully. Thanks for this!
This album sounds like an alternate universe where in 1988 Kurt Cobain recorded an album all by himself, published it under an anonymous name, became very popular in the underground scene just for Cobain to go radio silent and no one knows who really made this album. Eventually the album dies off, then in 2023 someone finds this casette that says "nirvana, dire" with some cool rose art and listens to it and thinks it's cool. Can't find any information of it online so they decide to try to remaster it and this is what comes to youtube with a few hundred people to listen to before eventually it's lost in the past forever.
maybe
Hey! I come here not for crying!
That's literally just the story of Panchiko but with some tweaks
Opinion is one of my favourite non-released Nirvana songs and it was fun to hear it here with a full band behind it!
Burn the rain is amazing, RIP 🌹 Kurt🌹
This is really good !!!
Awesome video.
Thanks cuoccimix.. I wish they played Talk to me in 93 /94 with Pat
Awesome ❤
Muy copado lo tuyo, gracias a vos a los otros como vos que hacen fan albun, y gracias a NIRVANA
Dude this is amazing
Man thanks for share
Отличная работа, сделано с душой! Большое спасибо!
LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! On repeat
this is amazing 😊❤
Wow.......awesome. Thank You. that's a different version of Opinion then I've heard. And Talk to me is so catchy...I had a chance to see them in December 93 in St Paul and turned it down...deep regret. Mr Kurt kicked my girlfriends sister in the face because she grabbed his shoe. And he thought she was trying to steal..he came over after the song and bent down and apologized....Crazy. and we all still talk about it. I missed because I had to study for an Algebra test....Long live Kurt. Thanks again for your work here it's awesome.
holy shirt, the best fan album I have ever listened
March 31 is exactly my birthday!! ❤
Thank youuu!!!
The first few times I saw this recommended, I ignored it as another compilation of Nirvana oddities, and I ignored it.
But this time (READ DESCRIPTION) got to me: Ok, I will.
Then I listened to this. To be fair, if Nirvana recorded an album in 1995, it would have been vastly superior to this- but obviously that is missing the point: this is absolutely in the spirit of what Nirvana was, and also keeps the aesthetic, mostly of In Utero/live.
This is actually very nice, and I feel that this is a fitting album to represent the end. It is chaotic and inconsistent, yet sincere and full of the angst that 'paid off well."
I started playing guitar in 1999 after listening to _From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah_ and have always considered KC to be one of my primary musical influences. When Weirdo (outro) started, I already had a guitar in my hands, and tuned DGCFAD, just kept nailing the open C string which sounded great. Soloed a little too.
I'm very unhappy with my life right now, but you gave me some genuine happyness.
Thanks
Of course as an actual album that would have been quite unlikely, as Cobain wanted to take a completely different musical direction. However as a 1995 "interim album" it is quite realistic. My intention was to create an album as coherent as possible with the leftover material. Glad you liked it and that you understood its meaning :)
About the best you could say about any fan-made album is that the original artist might have approved. And you know what? I really think Kurt might have appreciated this one.
Thanks for making it.
i think kurt does appreciate this
Thank you Antanix. Subscribed
The most realistic fan album I've ever seen. Congratulations
Omg the yodel song sounds so sick!!!! Nice job
Nicely done👍💖
Its realy amazing how you mixed the drums from Penyroyal Tea in the song Poison's gone. Love it!

You really a fan of the best artist ever.. great job
I actually read the description, had i not, I would have figured a fan hired session players to complete a fantasy peice. I for one really liked it, especially do ri me, i think that is a very good addition
Absolutely brilliant. Would have been cool if You Know You’re Right was on this at the end. But otherwise almost perfect well done.

As a life long nirvana fan I appreciate the dedication that went into this🤘
Wow, so good. Track 10 sounds so familiar like a Weezer Song. And 11… had be the potential to be a smash hit in the late 90s. Sad Kurt, that you passed. Still missed here.
