I was hoping to see the IR-01 in this mix. Yeah, I know, it's not a "real" car but it'd probably give that Merc F1 car a challenge. Would love to see a heads-up race between the two sometime.
Wow, that was super cool to see in action. Sure on paper is one thing, but to see it happen is another. It was comical how fast you passed the Miata even after doing so many donuts 😂
That's not pointless at all - I've always wondered how an F1 car would do against, say, the latest hybrids. Can you do a longer version and talk us through it?
IndyCars are quite rapid also and can outrun F1 in a straight line since they don’t have as much downforce. Would be interesting to see how that would compare at LeMans. Me thinks a lot less burnout time would have been available lol
They need a much longer straight than F1 cars are designed to run on. Then when they run in that trim, would be basically useless on any braking zone…they struggle to get into the pits at Indy.
Does anyone know how the tire physics work, especially with that f1 car? I’ve used the W13 a lot and it seems like if I burnout like that or have a big lockup, then the traction is completely gone until I reset the car. It didn’t seem like he seemed to struggle with it though. Does a small amount of burnout actually help by warming up the tires? And how long does it take to warm up cold tires? Even with other cars, I heard when you’re in a race that iracing simulates a warm up lap so when you’re on the grid your tires are a little warmer than coming off the pits. I’ve just struggled to find good information about the tires, it doesn’t seem like there’s any good Reddit threads explaining it.
This doesn't answer your question, but I have learned that short shifting (shifting very early) is the only way to drive the car off the line from a dead stop. (especially since Dave is so much more skilled than I am) 🙂 If you watch F1 races, you can hear the drivers actually short shift in practice when the traction is low.
Fun little break 😁 It's my last day off from work until someday after Christmas so no more binging youtube for a while. Happy Christmas to you and they missus, Dave!
No car gave the Ferrari F499P a run for its money... because there is no Ferrari F499P in iRacing, just a pathetic release, as realistic as FORZA Horizon.
Never a pointless video from you Dave.
supposed to change up as soon as the blue lights show... F1 is fuel flow limited so max power is around 10500rpm, reving out to 15000 is a waste.

Definitely not pointless, I quite liked seeing the comparison. Thanks Dave.

Lemons should be on the GP calendar.
8th gear exists btw
He didn’t use DRS so there’s too much downforce at max speed, which makes shifting into 8th gear irrelevant
It's pointless at Le Mans 😁

Fun is never pointless mate.
how in the world did you manage to do that burnout and not end up in the wall t1???
Lots of attempts 🤣

mad number 11s at the start
This is a sick video. Almost like an art piece. It reminds me of the Ari Vaitanen film. Good stuff Dave
Savage vid Dave! The M2 will need therapy after than one.
Omg!! How long do you want to stretch each gear out.
Dave did you put the legacy lmp 1 cars in. I can do 3:14 laps here in the Porsche 919.
P1 in how many seconds 😂😂
I own the W13 and it’s crazy to drive in the sim.
That Nissan... 🔥
You should use some mistress's dinner out day to race a SOF race of the IMSA vintage. 👌

I love the Nissan so much wish they used it more, one of my favorite drives
fast but sounds pants
You forgot about 8 gear Dave
It just died when shifting to 8th 😁
Remarkable performance, allied to an awful power unit sound.
That’s a horrible Dyson sound.
drs?
Not at Le Mans

Happy Christmas buddy 😁
