Imagine making a prediction so wrong that you end up upsetting the F1 gods and they just fuck stuff up to mess with me.
Mod link now added (sorry, forgot)
nice prediction tbh. kubica's first point for williams =]]]
thank you for upsetting the F1 gods! Do it more often. WHAT A RACE
How do you feel now? 🤦♂️
Make that prediction happen on F1 2019 game
You couldn’t be more wrong, but hey, we’re all human.
Jimmer, predict more F1 races please.
Sincerely,
Every F1 Fan
agreed
That prediction didn't age very well.
RubberKid100 aged as well as an anti-vax kid
@@motornaut 😂
looks like Jimmy made a completely wrong prediction and i couldn't be happier
indeed
If only this was the rise of williams and not the weekend from hell for Merc.
The race of the hybrid era, and best of all...
We get to see it from inside as the netflix crew was following mercedes this weekend for their 125th celebrations.
@@coast2coast00 I doubt they'll be allowed to release the footage. That was a disastrous race for Mercedes-Benz.
@@zorrozorro42 Did you see all of Haas' season last year!
I believe FOM made every team give full access for 1 race during the year after seeing how many new fans it brought. The only thing they can't show are technical secrets.
F1 fans thought Mercedes 1-2, Williams 19-20.
Poseidon, Zeus and Thor thought otherwise.
this comment got a giggle
Oh boy was jimmy’s prediction wrong
Zack Krueger he was half wrong
Gydos both Alfa’s came last so technically both were right
@@frenchracingblue5826 Alpha Romeo is not Williams
@@dmitri546 I think he meant both were wrong
That prediction aged poorly even before the video released, that's some impressive stuff
Jimmy really is driving like an F1 driver, he even went off at the penultimate corner @ 8:54
Not F1 enough, he didn't even hit the wall.
@@TheStrongestBaka well neither did kimi 🇫🇮
Luckily there were no Drag Strip back then
Not bad, driving a bathtub, with no seatbelts, full of fuel, at 320 kph and between trees.
A lovely idea. 😂
They didn't have seatbelts? Lol
@@billyfitzgerald834 Seatbelts were not mandatory until 1972.
billy fitzgerald with how easily these cars caught on fire, many drivers “preferred” the idea of being ejected
Balls of steel back then. Manual stick too.
I remember the day Jim Clark died at this circuit, we were all shocked when it came on the news. He was such a skilled driver we thought he would be around forever. Jacky Stewart was deeply affected by the loss of his friend and became a leader in improving the safety of the circuits and construction of the cars. He's still doing it today
Jimmy Broadbent: the only driver capable of surviving the turn 16 run-off area
But Kimi only got away from it because he's been taking some driving lessons from his team mate, the GOAT, Jamble Wanglebork
Sainz as well (kinda) since he was taught by Jaime Anchocurvo
that friggin dragrace at the end gave me the chills, good driving Jimmers. more old F1 would be grooovy
I gotta say, that was properly exciting to watch. That would have been one of those races where nobody would have cared who actually won because the midfield action was so much better. I do wish you had the replay footage though.
damn Jimmer, that was maybe the worst Commentator curse I've ever seen
My favorite layout will still be the one from the 80s and 90s with the chicane on the norht and south straights, before they got rid of the forest entirely. The cars allowed for enormous top speeds, the chicances made for huge braking zones with lots of overtaking.
Yet the most difficult and challenging part was the Ostkurve.
Jimmy: HAM first and Williams last
German GP: I'm gonna end that man's prediction career
“Hi guys, grandad cardigan boi here...” that’s marvelous!
I love vintage racing content. Love it. Imagine a modern game based on a classic year like GPL or Nascar Legends. Imagine if Codies made a full game based on the 1990 season for instance. Please? Putting this out there.
Stuntman Daz rfactor1 has a free 1990 modpack and a 1991 and 92 one including cars and tracks. Shame it’s not gone over to rf2.
@@ghostdog688 yeah that would go nicely with the 1988 pack. But thanks, I'll check that out in rF1 if it's still available
I'd love this for 1999 or 1975/6. Maybe even 2007/8
That was amazing, Jimmy! I love old Hockenheimring, would be amazing to have the old circuit back, such a crime to tear it up
These classics f1 mods on AC & rF2 really help me appreciate what these guys achieved back then. Absolutely psychotic men driving these cars.
Keep making these wrong predictions Jimmy the Racing in real life yesterday was pure greatness. Whoo I loved that race last night at a Hockenheim.
😊🏎❤️👊
I think one of the things that makes you so watchable is that it's not you half a lap in front of everyone else - settings allow all of us to do that, but the dicing about on the last lap is what makes your vids so much fun to watch. Stick with eighth chap, it's winning in a different way!
I totally agree with you. I really miss the old (slightly younger) Hockenheim, it used to be one of my favorite tracks because it had everything including that awesome straight.
^ "what he said"
Danny The straights weren’t that interesting. They put a couple of chicanes in during the 1970s, the back one being a bit like Ascari at Monza. The real gonzo part of the old Hockenheim was the Ostkurve. In this car it’s not that quick but by 1980, ground effects cars with full skirts were in fourth gear and pulling 3+ G through there. It was very fast and incredibly dangerous and they finally put another chicane in after Patrick Depailler was killed there in an Alfa Romeo 179. Derek Warwick once said of the Ostkurve, “Get that right and you come out of it like a dog wagging two tails!” Motorbikes were amazing there too. I remember Daryl Beattie winning an absolute thriller there in 1993 and Troy Corser’s monumental crash at the Ostkurve a few years later. The bikes didn’t need the Ostkurve chicane.
Please predict that more often... I just want to see the world burn and Formula 1.5 Teams on the podium
Hamilton didn't win and Williams actually scored a point.
They were still the slowest car out there ^^
@@racer949494 Still though. Its practically a Christmas Miracle. Best race of the season by far.
POV: You're in a fragile Lotus 49 at 300 km/h and there is nothing between you and the trees of death
I remember going to Hockenheim 1993 with a friend and his father as a kid. Watching DTM and swinging a Mercedes flag.
I don't usually comment on videos but Jimmy you do have some unique commentary and you make impressive videos which are entertaining to watch. You remind me of Murray walker in a lot of ways.
I have a huge passion for cars as I'm s petrol head but just don't possess the ability to be a good host or streamer. My communications skills aren't too great. But then again I could try... I dunno.🤔
I do miss old Hockenheim, but I like the new circuit too- plus it’s not like massive straights is something that f1 is lacking
*cries in Baku*
“Hi guys, grandad cardigan boi here...” so good!
Even though I'm a Hamilton fan I'm happy your prediction was wrong cuz that race was EPIC
If it makes you feel better, it just shows how good your favorite is.
When he and his team is off, it is one of the few times the race for the lead is good.
Take it form a Haas fan. Im Jealous AF
The old layout is unique and just better. Maybe not this specific one, but the last version with the chicanes was one of the best tracks in F1. It’s not like the current engines would have issues with the long straights either, especially after they added China and Baku
First of all jimmer, amazing prediction. 10/10!!
As for the sense of speed, well it might seem odd but ever since i got into VR, VR videos make more of an impression on me. As in, I can see how it would look in VR and get that sense of speed out.
WRONG. AND. WRONG. Seriously Jimmy, thank you for the commentator's curse. (no sarcasm intended)
Wierd that you and Adrian Millward had the same idea on different sims. Both hugely exciting and entertaining!
No barriers protecting drivers from trees absolute madness
Rest in peace Jim Clark, OBE, farmer, world champion motor racing driver, Lotus 49 pilot, Indy 500 winner, Tasman champion, died 32 years of age at Hockenheim 7 April 1968.
This years race was a good one...echoes of button in Canada!
The Lotus 49 has taught me more about sim racing than any other car.
Your comment about liking the old circuit and missing circuits of this ilk was exactly the same as I was thinking as I watched Ted Kravitz’s piece on Sky F1. The modern, bland circuits (by comparison) don’t have individuality. It is a part of F1 that is sorely missed today.
Yeah that was a nice piece. I like how you can still see the old layout at least
Stuntman Daz But a shame it is lost forever
If i was comenting this race i would e like:
“The Ferrari collides and thats 3 dead already on turn 1. Press F to pay respects”
Video idea, Race modern f1 cars on the old German gp
in the rain
@@Enpamonhado oh shit that would be scary
@@Enpamonhado at night
Just what I needed to watch sat on the train platform. Nicely timed Jimmy 👍🏻
Really enjoyed that race. More please Jimmer :)
Enjoyed driving this track in GPL many, many years ago, modern graphics are great, keep making the fun vids Jimmy 👍
Love these retro races Jimmy. I was a big fan of the race through the forest.
I agree, I really wish racing was like this now. I pretty much only drive vintage cars in AC anymore. What a great race!
Great track, great car, great race. Thanks Jimmy!
Went to the German GP at Hockenheim in 1981 during my "Follow the Circus Tour '81."
Great driving Jimmy, I was holding my breath during the last lap for ya
Really enjoyed this! More races at this circuit please
Fantastic to watch. Very exciting.
These old school track and car combo's just so much fun to try! 😃
Didn't realize this was the VERY historic Hockenheim before the chicanes in the forest section of the track. I was waiting and waiting for the first chicane to come up. Very long straights indeed. Chicanes or no chicanes, I miss the old Hockenheim track with the forest section. Damn shame what happened to that track in my opinion.
That version of the Hockenheimring was insanely dangerous. The version with added chicanes as driven in
the late 90s was way more interesting than the present track. I miss it but there won't be a Grand Prix of Germany next year anyway.
Crazy just got done watching the classic hockenheim video in AMS from last year.
Into the stadium last lap - fucking SENT !
fullspeed into the Ost-Kurve. I realy love the late 60s F1 with no wings and the tracks without any chicane ...
F1 is far more entertaining in the rain. Maybe FIA should set up some lawn sprinklers at every apex when it's sunny and warm.
I'm old enough to remember the true Hockenheimring too and it was an insane, gorgeous track.
And as insane as it was, F1 moved there since 1977 because it was MUCH less dangerous than racing on the Nordschleife: at least, if a driver crashed and still was alive rescue could arrive on time to save him...
Great video Jimmer!
I love old tracks in european countryside, more please.
do I hear some HOME in the background during the intro? NICE!
I love how the low downforce keeps you correcting the wheel.
Good Day for Honda , bad Day for Mercedes Benz. . You should be glad that the GP 69 mod has no simulation mode for how Fragile Lotus cars were . Brake failures were common closely follow by Gearboxes . There are lots of great Lotus driver stories out their from the Colin Chapman Era , Yeap Jim Clark died in minor F2 race after his tire deflated and came off the rim , Colin took his loss very heavily , and once he saw how the tire had come off he almost over night designed a securing system to stop the tires rolling off the rim even after a deflation . Clark was a great talent he would have been sure to have won more Championship had he lived . You remember this track back in the V10 era , I can go all the way back to the 80's this place was always an engine killer even when they changed the layout in the 80's and 90's I think the car were running at a constant 70 or 80 throttle for the lap , on the long straight the brake would loose to much temperature to work correctly certain gears would be over stressed by the long straights . It was always the best race to see Turbo cars go up in flames . I miss even the 90's version , but fair enough they had agreed on a date that the loop through the woods would be returned to it nateral state , and so the old loop is now only to be found in games like AC or GTR Series .it's is also a blast with 60/70's sports cars and prototypes from the likes of the GTL mod and the Sports car Prototype mode .
wow, your prediction aged like milk. Proud of you, Jimmers. Please predict that COVID19 will last for a hundred years and that F1 won't happen at all this year.
Joseph Cote well it happened, and Monza was an event
Jim Clark was fond of grandad cardigans. Wear it with pride!
The last part of the lap is virtually unchanged
this just in: Jimmer proves that the commentator's curse is so powerful as to effect F1 race outcomes even when irl race prediction made by Esports commentator...
i'm also old af so i too miss the old Hockenheim layout
You should make such predictions more often Jimmer
Awesome predictions Jimmer
YES! I REALLY wanted this!
Modern F1 cars on classic F1 track series. Done Monza, now do Hockenheim, Spa, Nurburgring and Silverstone!
Old Hockenheim is gold
Even of ps4 this car is great on historic monza
The German grand prix was amazing!!!
One of the greatest tracks of all time. The original south curve was absolutely beastly, but it was still an awesome track right up until they 'Tilked' it, right up the........
I've seen a few of your videos for the first time this week and maybe it's because I'm American but you could do a killer Murray Walker impersonation
Boy you were off with your prediction haha! Williams actually got a point, did hell just froze over?
Spun out the Lutus 49? Glad I'm not the only one... AI are a bit funny with the old F1's, really fast corner entry, really slow exit speed.
My god, what a race!
Well, that race prediction aged like a fine milk.
Honestly, this is very similar to GP Legends mods in the early 2000s. Except there they had better race events, flagmen, and they properly modeled the driver gloves and suits.
Would like to see this with the 2001 f1 cars (last edition of the old hockenheim).
I kinda need this track, specifically this layout, in GT7
UA-cam recommending me this in 2024
If I'm honest I can't help but to find that no matter regulation changes you can essentially buy a winning car.
alt title: the 1960 hockenheimring experience
me: wait wait wait f1 came to hockenheimring in the 1970s
Love this track
Hope Hockenheim will have another German Grand Prix.. They said It could be the last year there :( also the race was insane if you watched it!
We need more "glorified" ovals in F1 today. Old Hockenheim is awesome!!!
Absolute thriller
Post race: Prediction incorrect
Jimmy's IQ: -800
It was hot in Europe and now it is cold enough to wear a cardigan!?! 😂
Wow, really old Hockenheim before the chicanes. Did you use the default Lotus 49 and Ferraris or were they from the GP Legends mod? I feel a challenge coming, between Bamble Wanglebork and Richie Axelson...
Grandad we love you
Round the 1st corner and a sea of red from the Ferrari's parts for Moses Broadbent!
to those people who dont know heel toe, try driving a manual and downshifting from a high rpm while breaking... best case you upset the car worst case you lock your wheels up and end up wrapped around a tree. ask me how I know
The first F1 GP of Hockenheim was in 1970
R.i.P. Jim Clark :c
brooooo ur predictions were actually really wrong who woulda thought
Only time this season where that prediction is 100% wrong lol.
