I somehow missed it even though I preordered the game and played it nonstop for about a year or two lmao… then I nodded my save to have one of each and was banned in the 360 version so I stopped playing.
I think having the items be secretly placed in the world from then on would be way more interesting. The chests could have clues about their locations to find them and be fun lil treasure hunts that build hype and get the community together. I do think limited time only content is annoying and avoiding that as much as possible is nice but if they rerun certain events or timed things it makes it better like the Demon Soul's tendency situation for holidays.
I still have files with the Whitesteel Katana and Moonlight Longsword I think. I wish this sort of thing was something FROM would do more often, it's a cool way of getting people to engage with the game some more. I completely forgot about DeS having world tendency forced pure black and white, thanks for the reminder.
DS2 has a super special place in my heart, and I remember feeling like a kid opening a present when I found out about these while they were ongoing. They felt so weirdly special, like whoa, a blue sword? Slightly different axe? You know I had those bad boys equipped! Really happy to see a dive into such a unique gimmick, bummed more people didn't know about this, and I'd almost like to see something small like this return at some point without the time restrictions. Maybe just a little update that adds a few slightly different drops in sneaky locations in Elden Ring? The world is certainly big enough, but people probably aren't clamoring for recolored weapons.
Portuguese speaker here and that was a valiant effort. Also: They should just stick everything in the box and leave it there forever now. Send the speedrunning community for a loop rerouting around it. Give the late comers and the returning veterans a nice warm reminder of ye olden days.... It'd be a nice gesture as both a celebration of DS 2 living again, as the servers come back, but also a nice send-off gift as the game solidifies evermore into souls history. People would pick the game up, find all this stuff and then go "wait, wth?" and have a reason to look all of this up and learn this history
DS2 Dissected is by far my favourite series of yours I think, this game will always stand out to me in some way compared to the other ones, i find it much more comfy
"Comfy". As someone who uses that word to describe movies, music and games... that have a certain _vibe_ to them. You know, not massively popular (usually the opposite tbh), usually quite janky, usually prefaced with "you'll probably not like it" when you talk about it... but not so much of a guilty pleasure that you're embarrassed to talk about it. I think that word perfectly sums up my feelings with DS2... and why I _kinda love it._
I weirdly agree with the notion of it being comfy. Parts at least. Iron Keep and Brume Tower I wouldn't call 'comfy'. But Huntsman's Copse and even Eleum Loyce? Yeah I would deign to call those 'comfy'.

Considering how many mechanics and underline details ER shares with DS2, that's pretty much the sequel. Tanimura was also co-director on it, doing most of the bosses and weapon move sets, that's why ER has soo many delayed attacks on bosses, it's his signature.
Good news, there is rumor that Project Abyss is in the development stage, aka Dark Souls 3.5 , which set the world in Age of Deep Sea, directed by the same director who created Dark Souls 2
I've had this concept of a Dark Souls 2 prequel where you play as Vendrick conquering the old kingdom and creating Drangleic in my head for a while now.
13:06 Ok, I'm 2 years late for this one, but I just gotta say it. As a brazilian, your portuguese pronunciation is quite good actually, good job! I really know how weird our phonemes can be lol
those were definitely a fun mechanic, you could probably put it on a schedule if the community ever builds reverse engineered servers like demon's I remember years ago with my mule just chilling with people and fighting with the moonlight longsword and red caestus (somehow the unreleased retextures are not flagged as bad items?), some people looked really confused too, it was worth the online interactions
To be fair you can still get all these weapons (even the cut ones) on PC, on SoTFS too. They're all in the game files and you can mod them into one of your characters and the game recognizes them (since they're technically already in the game) and lets you play online with them without the risk of getting banned.
This is actually what gives a tiny shred of hope to the petition, the fact that it only requires a server update and not a patch to get them out seems semi-plausible. :)
As a brazilian, is really cool to see that our translation used to have something at least remotly useful or intersting to the community. And you actually pronunciated that sentence very well, don't worry 😂
Personally I think Pre-order items should be made available down the line. For example, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's special Delux/Pre-order items became available to the entire playerbase for free years after its release saying that those who bought it are appreciated but that it's now time for everyone enjoy them. This same method should be applied to Exclusive Unique weapons/armors that are pre-order items. Let people enjoy them for a good while, then make it possible in some way for everyone to get then a few years down the line, or at the end of the game's support lifespan.
I still have my original DS2 file back from 2014 that has the blue longsword. Haven't used it in like 5 years, but I still keep the file just as a keepsake.
Stuff like Reaper Scythe on a game with a LOT of collectibles is just.. scummy. Pre-Ordering the game is a bad practice! Imagine backing a project in KickStarter before you actually know what the final product will be like.
i actually really loved these weapon reskins to be honest, two handed blue murakumo was epic. i wish theyd bring something like that back for elden ring, though i know its unlikely since they know how bad it would feel for some people to miss out on that stuff, even if it is just a simple reskin
As I watch this with gladness, I wonder how many DS2 haters have realised that they didn't really know how bad an action RPG could be (oh hello, Gotham Knights), and that quality is a relative thing. Keep up the great work dude 👍
I remember this and I also remember DREADING the secret item would be a mimic. But, looking back, its unfortunate it wasn't a mimic. That would have been great
That was some REALLY HIGH QUALITY brazilian reading mate, you have nothing to be ashamed of. The accent and english mannerisms are still there, but everyone would understand you speaking like that. Also, petition signed. I really hope I can get these in SotFS, as I didn't get all of them before in the original game. (Honestly, I would rather they just added them to the game altogether, maybe even give them some cool unique effects to justify the difference, but I guess asking for new stuff is already too much, asking for special new stuff is even more.)
Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin was my first Dark Souls game. So this is super cool to me! But I havent tried Demon Souls yet so I am sad to learn I'll never get the Reaper Scythe :(
i'm brazilian and i was not expectinng you to try to pronounce it (you did it very well) this message really makes sense in the game's lore i guess they were tiyng to make players acess the giant memories, jus tlike they did for the DLCs but somehow it ended up being vanished from the game
Thats brilliant to see the other weapons thank you...i had a friend who had the longsword and told me of the timed releases of weapons.... But i never knew what the others were, and had totally forgotten about it until i saw this video... Brilliant thanks again
A blood red dark moon greatsword would be so cool in Elden Ring. The moonlight greatsword has been my favorite sword from all the games. Hope they do something like this
I've played this game for hundreds of hours completing it multiple times, it's my favourite game of all time yet because of this I've never truly completed it.
This is something a lot of Japanese companies do. They make timed events, or events where you have to attend something specific in person. Often these would be JP only, or JP and NA only, with anyone living outside these areas being out of luck. I remember playing games like Pokémon as a kid on my Gameboy and being told that there were certain Pokémon you could only acquire if you attended a specific event in another country. As you can imagine, I was not happy.
Happy to see a DS2 video and hoping for more. Do you think you’ll release a video detailing all the difference between vanilla DS2 and Scholars? Ive always been curious how much the developer changed enemy placement
I absolutely love this idea. I never really played any of the Souls games until long after their development cycle had reasonably ended, personally. But not only would it be really cool for players like myself to finally get a chance to get their hands on some of this time-gated content, but I absolutely agree with you that it would be an awesome way to celebrate the servers coming back online, as well as giving a very generous nod to the extremely dedicated community that still very much loves this game. Personally I'd love to get my hands on those red caestus (no pun intended) so I've got my fingers crossed someone from From will pick up on your petition!
even though they weren't exclusively available this way, i'm surprised there was no mention of the ds2 preorder bonus equipment, also sold by chancellor wellager
I think dumping all that stuff in Aldia's Keep would work. It already has vibes of collecting all the weird stuff that exists in the world, so they'd fit right in, I think.
Stuff like this, the PVP in general, being able to invade solo hosts, the DLC, story, and build variety viability are why I still love DS2 the most to this day.

I was like, one of the few early adopters of DSII to have played the game early enough actually remember this shit in the DX9 version of the game. So glad someone is finally covering this.
Right? Have a low chance to make enemies drop the reskin! 😆
or for each chest you found,it also contained a hint for the next chests' location.
Oh my god i remember this! this was very fun to be a part of. Dark Souls 2 was some of the most fun I had with a game during it's launch phase
Oh wow! I totally forgot the golden greataxe was modded in lmao. That was when I got my first softban!
I absolutely despise timed exclusive items
Portuguese speaker here and that was a valiant effort.
Also: They should just stick everything in the box and leave it there forever now. Send the speedrunning community for a loop rerouting around it. Give the late comers and the returning veterans a nice warm reminder of ye olden days.... It'd be a nice gesture as both a celebration of DS 2 living again, as the servers come back, but also a nice send-off gift as the game solidifies evermore into souls history. People would pick the game up, find all this stuff and then go "wait, wth?" and have a reason to look all of this up and learn this history
DS2 Dissected is by far my favourite series of yours I think, this game will always stand out to me in some way compared to the other ones, i find it much more comfy
yeah i agree it doesnt have the spirit of the other games but it almost feels like a dark souls sandbox experience
Agreed, DS2 will always be my fav Souls game.
I weirdly agree with the notion of it being comfy. Parts at least. Iron Keep and Brume Tower I wouldn't call 'comfy'. But Huntsman's Copse and even Eleum Loyce? Yeah I would deign to call those 'comfy'.
man i remember watching your content years ago. the ds1 vagrants one really stood out to me as i resisted buying the remake for so many years i only ever saw 1 white vagrant on the ps3 back towards it's release and it was like a precious moment to see something that damn near nobody ever saw... and always dropped by here and there when u dropped something new.
but stopped watching any souls content when ER dropped. crazy how many channels that have gone up 10-fold since from what i last remember them being.
glad to see it. you 100% deserve it.
Ds2 dissected is truly something special. Always excited when i see one of these come out.
ya well since I respect both autistic people AND ds2 I am just gonna agree with you on that one. Ds2 IS special and if u wanna use that comment to disparage neurodivergent people then by all means, but prepare for the L
I love every scrap of new DS2 content. I played that game soooo much. Loved it to bits.
So seeing new content on it, is like someone reaching into my memory and dragging out long-forgotten emotions.
Can never get enough of that 8-bit Majula cover. I still go and listen to often
Your Portuguese pronunciation was so good, nothing to be embarrassed about.
Love your content 🇧🇷
I cannot believe how many years have passed. After completing Dark Souls and Demons Souls on the PS3 I was so hyped for DS2. Great memories. Thanks for the upload and the nostalgia.
Im from brasil and your pronunciation was really good, i had some giggles because of the accent, but could 100% undestand you, its really hard for people how speak english to speak portuguese so nice work
as a native portuguese speaker, your portuguese was great, you really nailed those Rs
There’s so much cut content in souls 2. So many hidden secrets and items, so many unique and out there ideas. Regardless of your opinion on souls 2, it makes it endlessly fascinating to dissect it
As a Brazillian i have to say, your portuguese isn't that bad! Amazing video as always ❤
YAY! More dark souls trilogy dissected is always a treat since I don't want to spoil myself on elden ring until I get and complete it many times. I'll come back and binge all your (and vaati's, demod, etc) videos. But for the meantime, Dark souls!
I always thought this was a super unique idea when the DLC’s were coming out, and it was so cool blinging out your character for invasions.
Blue longsword was the absolute best of the set
Gold Greataxe >>
@@Luhcalmmattyice well yeah, but we never got to see that! It makes sense to me that a badass golden swag axe would be the chase weapon of the set.
Now if only you could unlock these weapons through covenant rewards…
@@EvolvedDinosaur I had the gold greataxe maybe it was a modder who gave it to me.. I didn’t know it never released
Shout outs to Dark Souls 2 content in 2022. I never played DS2 before the SotfS version, so I never knew about any of these reskins. That blue longsword looks super clean. Thanks for the content!
Glad to see you continuing these, they are easily my favorite series of videos.
Having been in this community for the last 11 years now, I'm proud that it is still going strong with such great people. Thank you for bringing attention to this mechanic, was a fun nostalgia trip, hope from listens!
Moonlight Longsword looks perfect for a Link build!
Thanks bro, a friend dropped some weapons to me an I was confused why I had different versions of the same weapons with skin only changes, now I understand thanks bro, nice to see some ds2 dissected
Brooo I remember these weapons well, it was such a strange event having unique items get dropped into the game post launch, and was super disappointing to find out they were not brought to Scholar. Thanks for uncovering these!
One of my favorite things is seeing a notification for an illusory wall video, always enjoyable
não esperava o illusory wall falando portugues do nada
"Os jigántchés crôzarum os marés..."
Illusory Wall
Hahahaha
Ele foi capturado pelo Brasil
inesperado demais
Absolute king producing DS2 content 2022
Dark Souls 2, my favorite. Wish we could get a sequel.
Dark Souls II 2?
Considering how many mechanics and underline details ER shares with DS2, that's pretty much the sequel. Tanimura was also co-director on it, doing most of the bosses and weapon move sets, that's why ER has soo many delayed attacks on bosses, it's his signature.
@@-cams. yes. Unironically. I want the story of the crowns and Aldias "something else entirely" in reference to light and dark to be explored.
This is such a cool idea and I love it!
Thanks for the well-made Dissected series and the petition.
Oh I am so glad to see my man BlueLizardJello in an Illusary Wall video! It is like a crossover event!
I am very sneaky. And also when Illusory Wall asks if they can use your footage, what are you supposed to do? Say no?
13:00 Brazil mentioned 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Ds2 days are still my favorite experiences in gaming and I'm proud I still have my save with those 4 weapons
13:06 Ok, I'm 2 years late for this one, but I just gotta say it. As a brazilian, your portuguese pronunciation is quite good actually, good job! I really know how weird our phonemes can be lol
The last patch probably should have made it a serverless recurring event with some random elements.
I happily signed the petition, even though I don't plan on ever going back to SotFS once I experienced the OG Dark Souls 2.
those were definitely a fun mechanic, you could probably put it on a schedule if the community ever builds reverse engineered servers like demon's
I remember years ago with my mule just chilling with people and fighting with the moonlight longsword and red caestus (somehow the unreleased retextures are not flagged as bad items?), some people looked really confused too, it was worth the online interactions
I have those items on my PS3, someone dropped me them on a invasion, I was wondering if they were official too
To be fair you can still get all these weapons (even the cut ones) on PC, on SoTFS too.
@@illusorywall I'd really like to see the Barrel in game too, but I think it lacks proper stats.
Every new Illusory vid is like Christmas
:O for me??? You shouldn't have!
Dark Souls 2 Dissected is always so interesting, thanks
I'm a Portuguese speaker and it was very interesting to know that little detail. By the way, your pronunciation was pretty accurate @illusory wall!
Stuff like Reaper Scythe on a game with a LOT of collectibles is just.. scummy.
Pre-Ordering the game is a bad practice! Imagine backing a project in KickStarter before you actually know what the final product will be like.
Omg finally, a game that deserves the dissection! Been waiting for this for a while! I think there's still plenty of DS2 quirks to be examined.
Hi
i actually really loved these weapon reskins to be honest, two handed blue murakumo was epic. i wish theyd bring something like that back for elden ring, though i know its unlikely since they know how bad it would feel for some people to miss out on that stuff, even if it is just a simple reskin
9:10
So the word wall in DS2 that dropped hints for the DLC releases doesnt count as a "timed event"?
Honestly, your pronunciation of portuguese was better than the majority of the internet. Great video as always
But I havent tried Demon Souls yet so I am sad to learn I'll never get the Reaper Scythe :(
Depends if you can still find a preorder code out there or not.
If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure the Reaper Scythe has no unique moves, just a halberd. It just has a magic effect and a cool model.
I loved your portuguese pronunciation!! I know it's hard and you didn't butcher the phrase that much.
thanks for the content, love your channel!
A chest that updates and gives free items would be a cool mechanic in any game! Such a shame they had limited use for it here
i'm brazilian and i was not expectinng you to try to pronounce it (you did it very well)
this message really makes sense in the game's lore
i guess they were tiyng to make players acess the giant memories, jus tlike they did for the DLCs
but somehow it ended up being vanished from the game
weapon reskins have always seemed like a strange case to me.
That was a very solid pronunciation of Portuguese, actually
Man the pvp in this game was just the best. DS3 can go into corner ashamed when compared to this game. So good
DS3 had WAY too much stamina/rolls didn't use enough of it, one of those. Definitely made me enjoy the game a lot less.
Pvp in ds2 is the worse due to ADP
I always learn a lot in every one of these videos
even though they weren't exclusively available this way, i'm surprised there was no mention of the ds2 preorder bonus equipment, also sold by chancellor wellager
Glad to be one of the first people to see another one of your amazing videos
I think it'd be neat if each of them were put into the chest after killing each of the main bosses.
The blue straight sword and the white katana were my favorite l. These weapons were available for everyone for like one night or so remember
I really wish they would have added the weapon variants somewhere in scholar. the moonlight longsword is amazing
