I think the killing curse is worse for the ministry because there supposedly isn’t a “shield charm” that can stop it. While other charms (like fyendfire) can be deflected, the only way to stop the unforgivable is by using a hard surface to protect yourself (I think this is more clear when you read about the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in Order of the Phoenix). The only reason why Harry can stop it multiple times with a charm when he confronts Voldemort is because they have “twined wands” or during the final battle because Harry owns the elder wand.

Something like how the wands would determining who the spell will cast on, the caster or their target? Then it may come down to if the wizard/witch is powerful enough to cast it. Like Moody said the unforgivable curses from students would probably only make his nose bleed.
what about the spell cast by Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic in the Order of the Phoenix? The one where all the glass shatters? And what about Dumbledore's use of water to fight him?
Well I mean the glass shattering wouldn't be the most effective when you're not around anything glass or glass like and the water spell looked doesn't really compare to most of these spells. There are many ways you cam get out of a swirling bubble of water as a witch or wizard. Not exactly the most powerful.
In my opinion, the absolute most powerful spell, in the hands of a practiced witch or wizard, is the obliviate spell. The power to basically make people believe they are someone else could even be used to get powerful people on your side without the imperius curse.
I don't think people really comprehend how overpowerd protego diabolica is. but also we have only seen grindlewald use it which means it must be really hard to use
There was this spell which Grindelwald used right in the beginning of the first Fantastic beasts movie. Snape creating so powerful spell on his young age. Imagine if he lived until 150 years old like dumbledore. I swear he will be the most powerful wizard of all time. Besides he is actually 3rd most powerful wizard on his time:> 2nd is Voldemort who is 71 and dumbledore who is 150+
Don't really think so........... Snape was 38 when he died, so how long do you think Snape would've lasted against a young 38 year old Albus Dumbledore. Snape, though powerful, can't be the most powerful wizard ever. From the books, even James and Sirius appear to be better than him ( Remus Lupin says they were best in the year countless times). And then, if you forget Gelleret Grindewald and put Snape above him, its as unforgivable as the cursed child.
When Voldemort took Dumbledore's wand from his grave, he cast lightning into the sky, just imagine you could use that as an alternate Crucio, Force Lightning from the tip of your wand.
well, crucio is a nonlethal means of administering so much pain that the literal instant it's cast on you, your mind's first and only desire is to *die* to stop the pain from happening. i doubt any spell would do a better job LOL
Protego Diabolica is an extremely enhanced version of Fiendfyre, Gellert Grindelwald managed to tame the beasts of the flame and used them to form a circular structure of flames and you can see in Crimes of Grindelwald in the hard cam shots, that the flames sometimes take shape as a loosely shaped dragon and/or serpents. Such a powerful form of magic, as it acts as a defensive spell while it also can be used as a dangerous offensive spell. It really is just an amazing example of how powerful Grindelwald was, as Voldemort was able to control his Fiendfyre, and made it take the shape of a gigantic snake that does his bidding. But Grindelwald used this as a shield and also a weapon, allowing people that he chooses to safely pass through the flames unscathed. THAT, says more than words can describe just how powerful Grindelwald was.
Protego Diabolica is a clumsy spell that leaves the caster open for attacks from the killing curse (there is no shield charm against the killing curse). Voldemort's dark mark tattoos was far more effective as he could track down traitors and kill them...
Crucio and excruciating (derived from the Latin “excrucior”) allude to intense pain as caused by crucifixion. Also Avada Kedavara is practically useless against anything that isn’t a living organism.

The last one sounded like Amaterasu from Naruto. "Amaterasu produces black flames at the focal point of the user's vision. In most situations, this makes Amaterasu impossible to avoid. However, if the target can move fast enough to prevent being focused on, Amaterasu will miss them when it's cast. Once created, it can continue burning for seven days and seven nights. The flames cannot be extinguished with water or any other normal methods; (usually) only the user can put the flames out. Said to be "the fires from hell" and to burn as hot as the sun itself, Amaterasu burns any material - other flames included - until nothing but ash remains."
this is one of the reasons that i was interested in fantastic beasts, to see new spells and can't wait for the dumbledore vs grindelwald duel as it would be a great oppertunity to show us more advanced spells
8: confringo , 7: Incarcerous , 6 the fiery whip ( that dumbledore used it again Voldemort in the books ) , 5 : sectumsempra, 4: the firestorm charm , 3: Avada Kedavra , 2: fiendfyre, 1: protego diabolica
I think that sectumsempra is the most potent dueling spell ever created. The only reason mighty mages like Dumbledore and Voldemort didn't use it is because Snape hide it and never used it because he himself was scared of how harmfull it is. First of all this is a spell invented by a master of dark arts, potions, incantations etc. Second, no one knows how to protect from it, third, it is seemingly easy to use, so imagine almost anyone being able to use it if they got mad at someone.... the world would turn into chaos. All the other spells here are surely powerfull, but they require vast knowledge and unrivaled power to use them, but sectumsempra has the power to change the shape of the wizarding world. Imagine someone like Voldemort perfecting this spell to be able to use it on multiple enemies at once, dropping them bleeding on the floor in a split second, without them being even aware of how to protect from it.
avada kedavra cant be blocked by magic. you could easily shoot it through the others and kill the user before you are harmed. it also can potentially kill anyone regardless of the power of the target. i get why you wouldnt want to put it at #1 though.
AK is definitely the most sparing unforgivable curse, its instant, and any other unforgivable curse can kill in worse way. Imagine getting hit in a duel by the cruciatus curse, one would be stunned until they lost their mind or overcame it, just in time to be hit by imperius and told to accept the pain from crucio, or just straight up told to murder their family. I can think of many reasons AK is the least evil of the 3. Still makes sense that the death eaters spam AK in group fights as well
I'd rather be killed instantly by avada kedavra than to be burned alive by something like confringo, or cut to death by sectumsempra. there are definitely non-unforgivable spells that are even worse than avada kedavra, since they kill in a more painful manner.
I believe sectumsempra has some very narrow conditions for it to work. 1 you can only use it on a personal enemy ( like Snape saw James, or Harry saw Malvoy) . 2 the desire and willingness for a more draconic for of justice and punishment.
One of the presumable meanings, of "Abra cadabra" and the most logical one to me as a hebrew speaker comes from Aramaic (an ancient language that greatly affected modern day hebrew) . It means: "let it become/be created as said". Pure and simple. אברא כדברא The process of words becoming reality just like the creation of the world, began with a word. And the spell "avada cadabra" also demonstrates a hebrew/Aramaic origin: ""avad"= lost, doomed, meaning "doomed as said".
1: Protego Diabolica 2: Fiendfyre 3: Whatever Molly Weasley did do Bellatrix Lestrange 4: The appearing spell (the one that appears things(you can just appear a giant ring of destruction)so that one) 5: fire lasso 6: Avada Kedabra 7: The curse on the gaunt ring 8: Crucio
Then Snape would have to save Harry for two totally different reasons..one is that Snape's true loyalty is with team harry..the other is that dumbledore told Snape that its important that Harry was to be killed by voldy..an extra one a bonus one is that voldy informed his followers that Harry was his to kill.
@@anghainguyen9951 the killing curse can kill instantly, unconditionally without fail, no matter how little of it or no matter where it touches you, and it can't be blocked unless you are being blocked by someone else, or something inorganic. on the other hand, lots of people have survived gunshot wounds, while there has only been *one* person to survive the curse ever.
I would say the killing curse is the most powerful spell with maybe the exception of protego diabolica (pd). pd maybe has more potential but it can be stopped. Nothing can stop avada kedavra (ak) save for sacrificial love (which means someone is going to die either way) or being an absolute boss like book dumbledore and moving things in the way!
The spell that the group used to protect Paris from the Protego Diabolica spell is Finite, which looks very similar to the spell that Dumbledore used against the inferi, could Dumbledore have used the same spell? Also, a theory of mine is that Protego Diabolica was the spell Snape used in the Philosopher's Stone as one of the challenges to gaining the stone. If you recall from the books, the fires were purple and black and only a specific potion could be used to be able to cross them. Could both spells from the Fantastic Beasts series have been used in the Harry Potter series?
I feel some of these spells are only powerful in specific people's hands. For those that argue anyone can use them, the pertronus as noted by dumbledore requires a wizard with immense magical power to get the effect Harry did. Unless you have an immensely powerful wizard who has will and intent I doubt half the spells could be so diabolical.
Fun fact: while Avada Khadavra is based off of Abracadabra, Abracadabra is actually a healing spell or a spell meant to break curses, the "thing" it is meant to destroy is the curse causing illness or strife
Hello if you see this I want to remind you you mean something to the world. You can do something special today. Remember you were put on this earth for a reason. You can be great, but always remember someone cares about you.
I have a question.. if being able too use the unforgivable curse, Avada Kedavra, requires you to really WANT to kill, how was Snape able to use this spell on Dumbledore in the tower?

I wish J.K Rolling would write a book, where she goes into more detail about Harry's Parents and their friends, when they where in school, before Harry's time. I think that would be interesting to see, how they came to be. I wonder if she will ever do that or not?
hey, what u said at 6:27 is incorrect, since the soul is often a topic in Harry potter it can rly only be that one, since the book describes the bodies of Lilly and James Potter being examined and showed no sign of death at all, infact they where healthy apart from the fact that... well they where dead, so clearly the organs don't stop (well after they where dead they obviously did but its not the cause), cause u would clearly see that in any autopsy
2 ideas for spells. Kadavra Maxima: kills everything in the vicinity, caster is not immune. 2nd I have no name for. It should be a "good" alternative to crucio. It inflicts pain and suffering only equal to that that the target has intentionally inflicted on others. Incantation might use words for "pain" and "judgment".
I agree with most of this list, but I would put Sectumsempra higher, probably number 4 honestly, because there is no way to counteract it if you don't know the countercurse. Most people dont even know about the original based on how infrequently we see it used (also the fact that harry and snape are the only ones who successfully cast it) and so most likely the countercurse is even less well known.
My own list is: Stupefy Confringo Sectosampra fiendfire avada kedevra expiliamus protego fulgtris these come in really usefull I use them always in harry potter games also consider using charms like hastio and maybe drowning them with aqua cerasim will be good since dumbledor almost killed voldemort with iit

what about the spell cast by Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic in the Order of the Phoenix? The one where all the glass shatters?
And what about Dumbledore's use of water to fight him?
Well I mean the glass shattering wouldn't be the most effective when you're not around anything glass or glass like and the water spell looked doesn't really compare to most of these spells. There are many ways you cam get out of a swirling bubble of water as a witch or wizard. Not exactly the most powerful.

Like with green light around Voldemort, and normal red fire around Dumbledore, the blue flames has become part of Grindelwald's aestetic! :D
In my opinion, the absolute most powerful spell, in the hands of a practiced witch or wizard, is the obliviate spell. The power to basically make people believe they are someone else could even be used to get powerful people on your side without the imperius curse.

There was this spell which Grindelwald used right in the beginning of the first Fantastic beasts movie. It was like a white bust of energy blasting the whole place in a huge scale instantly killing about seven or eight aurors. Was that Bombarda Maxima or some other spell Grindelwald had in his arsenal?

Snape creating so powerful spell on his young age. Imagine if he lived until 150 years old like dumbledore. I swear he will be the most powerful wizard of all time. Besides he is actually 3rd most powerful wizard on his time:> 2nd is Voldemort who is 71 and dumbledore who is 150+
Dumbledore was 116. 1997- 1881 (when Dumbledore was born) = 116. He was 116 when he died. All these people think he was over 150 but he was not.
Merlin: im not even here beby
Don't really think so...........
Snape was 38 when he died, so how long do you think Snape would've lasted against a young 38 year old Albus Dumbledore. Snape, though powerful, can't be the most powerful wizard ever. From the books, even James and Sirius appear to be better than him ( Remus Lupin says they were best in the year countless times). And then, if you forget Gelleret Grindewald and put Snape above him, its as unforgivable as the cursed child.
Voldemort died 134
Also where is Merlin
When Voldemort took Dumbledore's wand from his grave, he cast lightning into the sky, just imagine you could use that as an alternate Crucio, Force Lightning from the tip of your wand.
*Laughs in Sheev*
I think that green lightning jet is voldermorts signature curse(avarda kedavra)..I think.
it would be like the lighting thingy that sith people use in Star Wars I think
That is more likely to serve the purpose of Avada Kedavra if you hit your opponent with it, isn't it?
well, crucio is a nonlethal means of administering so much pain that the literal instant it's cast on you, your mind's first and only desire is to *die* to stop the pain from happening. i doubt any spell would do a better job LOL
That's why you use it exclusively on living organisms. It's anti-personnel, not anti-materiel.

Protego Diabolica is now my favorite offensive spell, even if we only seen it once.
Ginny’s Reducto spell would definitely be on my list.
Actually Crucio means "I torture", cruciatus means "Torture", the same way Imperio means "I order" and imperius "Order"
this is one of the reasons that i was interested in fantastic beasts, to see new spells and can't wait for the dumbledore vs grindelwald duel as it would be a great oppertunity to show us more advanced spells

Harry: hold my expelliarmus
It does make sense that after a single target spell ( the killing curse) AoE Spells seem to be more destructiv.
Were is the top five most powerful wizards in ravenclaw
Imagine someone like Voldemort perfecting this spell to be able to use it on multiple enemies at once, dropping them bleeding on the floor in a split second, without them being even aware of how to protect from it.
sectumsempra could probably kill instantly if you aim it well enough and master the spell
Sectumsempra would always be the best spell ever for me
Arvada Kedavra can’t be blocked effectively? Harry blocks it all the time tho, so does Dumbledor and a bunch of Aurors
What about the one credence uses at the end of crimes of Grindelwald where he blows up a mountain?
Wasn't it pure emotion and power Credence used for the spell? I don't remember him using a incantation when he cast it
He doesn't use any spell. He can't. He channel his power through the wand. Instead of becoming huge unshaped monster, this way he can focus his power.
avada kedavra cant be blocked by magic. you could easily shoot it through the others and kill the user before you are harmed. it also can potentially kill anyone regardless of the power of the target. i get why you wouldnt want to put it at #1 though.
God if Grindelwald's power is crazy, just imagine Dumbledore's.
Dumbledore himself says that they were pretty much equal in power, with him self being a shade more skilled.
I am enjoying your videos. So glad I subscribed!

6:52 from what i've read , abracadabra in Hebrew means "I will create as I speak", or in Aramaic "I create like the word"
Harry Potter is the best movie and books
@SPstorm:) No the films are average totally disregarded the books.
@Darth Kenobi agreed
@Darth Kenobi but I'll consider both as canon but different ones.......
And obviously books are the best
One of the presumable meanings, of "Abra cadabra" and the most logical one to me as a hebrew speaker comes from Aramaic (an ancient language that greatly affected modern day hebrew) . It means: "let it become/be created as said". Pure and simple.
אברא כדברא
The process of words becoming reality just like the creation of the world, began with a word.
And the spell "avada cadabra" also demonstrates a hebrew/Aramaic origin: ""avad"= lost, doomed, meaning "doomed as said".
8. Bombarda Maxima
7. Crucio
6. Sectum Sempra
5. Tempest Jinx
4. Avada Kedavra

6: Avada Kedabra
7: The curse on the gaunt ring
8: Crucio
Video idea: What if draco hit Harry with a hex/spell in the bathroom
Then Snape would have to save Harry for two totally different reasons..one is that Snape's true loyalty is with team harry..the other is that dumbledore told Snape that its important that Harry was to be killed by voldy..an extra one a bonus one is that voldy informed his followers that Harry was his to kill.
The only reason I think snaps saved Malloy in the bathroom was because he did the unbreakable vowel or whatever it is
Lang lock + eat slugs would be so powerful
How come Avada Kedavra is only #4
It can’t do damage on a large scale like protego diabolica for example
The spell only stroong as a normal gun while could not be fast as shooting bullet
I like how a simple disarming spell is able to repell a killing curse
No, only harrys when faced against Voldemort.
Whenever I see the picture of Grindelwald at 10:12, I always think of a parakeet lol
"Bombarda Maxima" definitely sounds more like an anime attack than a Harry Potter spell
It's only seen in the movies, and they aren't canon.
I think protego diabolica is more of a defensive spell, because it was meant to protect the user
2:27 i think a kick to the nuts is worse
Fun fact: while Avada Khadavra is based off of Abracadabra, Abracadabra is actually a healing spell or a spell meant to break curses, the "thing" it is meant to destroy is the curse causing illness or strife

I have a question.. if being able too use the unforgivable curse, Avada Kedavra, requires you to really WANT to kill, how was Snape able to use this spell on Dumbledore in the tower?
Yes please someone explain. I'm wondering about this since ages
Many argue that snape didnt kill dumbledore by the use of avada kedavra, but through the fall. That's why when you see the movie Dumbledore's eyes weren't lifeless mid air

I am the 15th human to watch this video
what's the name of the song that sounds on 1:37??
“Abra Kadabra” origin is Hebrew (well Aramaic to be more precise) which translate to: I’ll speak and it will be created/happen” !!
hey, what u said at 6:27 is incorrect, since the soul is often a topic in Harry potter it can rly only be that one, since the book describes the bodies of Lilly and James Potter being examined and showed no sign of death at all, infact they where healthy apart from the fact that... well they where dead, so clearly the organs don't stop (well after they where dead they obviously did but its not the cause), cause u would clearly see that in any autopsy
I was surprised seeing kedavra at #4 but you have made your case
Dumbledore's Firestorm spell is a knockoff of Grindelwald's Protego Diabolica.
i have been watching these kind of videos and have always been thinking of protego diabolica for each top pick and this is the first one ive seen
I agree with most of this list, but I would put Sectumsempra higher, probably number 4 honestly, because there is no way to counteract it if you don't know the countercurse. Most people dont even know about the original based on how infrequently we see it used (also the fact that harry and snape are the only ones who successfully cast it) and so most likely the countercurse is even less well known.
cqan u make a video on the top 15 or 20 or 10 most powerful wands pls pls pls

Confringo
Sectosampra
