    Thanks for the motorvation mate. Been here since the start.
    Real life certainly gets in the way of builds.

      Yes it certainly does, it always comes down to time and money and how many other things get in before the ute!

    Another awesome video Barnesy. I bet you never thought that restoring your WB would lead to a number of business opportunities for you and help out many other restorers! You are doing such a neat and tidy job. Great stuff.

      Thanks Stuart, I certainly didn't, it's been a great journey for my skills, self development and business, and creating that library of info for others to reference is extremely gratifying as well.

    I would buy some old au falcon thermo fans. They are cheap and the are way better at cooling than the cheap ebay aluminium fans. Their fan speed is very fast. Great for pulling air through your trans cooler and radiator. Great work on the videos.

      Ok great I have heard of them actually, seems a common swap out for the modded h series Holden's. I was also looking at a Davies single fan as well.

    Great to see you back at it mate, I have just done the same pump installation on my HZ ute project but built a recess into the tank top to create clearance.. Not far off getting the body and chassis back together and seeing your progress helps with motivation... Cheers for the update..

      Nice, yeah it's tight at the top of the tank, i won't be able to tighten those nuts without a open end rachet spanner. Still doable but a pain. Body back ont he chassis is a big motivational step forward. good lucv.Cheers mate

    Awesome progress mate👍Keep ticking off that list , I just purchased a gts dash frame so a set of gauge adapters is on my list will order a set soon as I decide on gauges , keep up the great work mate I’ve followed from the beginning and it’s great to see the results ,

      @BarnesysBuilds Part of my motivation was the trouble you had with your motor. The other motivator is I think fuel prices will keep climbing as the government tries to get us off fossil fuels, not the best time to own a V8.

    Nice work and looking good, liking your fuel system.....but and I'm no expert on this, but I run fuel lines on the driver side and mount regulator onto inner guard and inter the fuel rail from the front keeping everything to do with fuel away from all heat sources and sparks. Give easy access to tighten and check leaks. Hot engines and fuel leaks....Sorry Dude.
    Don't overlook your cooling, have your radiator cleaned and tested and if it's not at least 3 cores throw it away and look into using AU falcon thermo fans, fitted properly using the shroud they are hard to beat. I wouldn't bother using anything else unless someone can guarantee you better. most if not all those cheap fans with aluminum shrouds are useless cooling a cammed engine.
    P.S You will find plenty information on how to fit AU fans onto a holden radiator, I run this set up on a cammed ls1 in a torana and on a heavily cammed 355 stroker motor (HJ ute) that I flog (7000rpm) no heating problems anymore 😁😁.(3 core copper radiator, Shrouded AU Falcon Fans) Guys have good success with a clutch fan and a properly fitted factory holden shroud.

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  8 місяців тому

      Cheers mate, I looked at both sides and the obvious being to follow the factory lines on the driver's side, however with the breather line and two transmission lines running on the same rail it was too tight. Also the pump orientation for space reasons being a top mounted pump wanted to have outlets left so that was it. The heat would be marginally the same whether it's on the rail or coming up from the inner guard, same distance from extractors and same airflow. I don't see it being an issue with the regulator mounted there either as it seems a common place for after market regulators to be mounted around there to keep the engine bay less cluttered. I will put some heat shield tube near the hot areas before final assembly of panels anyway to make sure. The radiator is an original 4 core I was running on the ute previously and had no issues, hence why I wanted to reuse. I agree with the fans though so will look into those. Cheers

    If you are printing rear tail lights think of LED instead of bulb Also watching Classic Resto the other day and I man was showing his GTHO replica and he said he put sound deadening everywhere, including roof

      Awesome. 👍
      Q. I know you went thru a process of choosing what to do with your motor, but why did you not consider (or you may have) a ‘plug n play’ crate turnkey 350 small block?

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  6 місяців тому +1

      @@Hodgey-wn1gp in hind sight that would’ve been a much easier faster cost effective and reliable method than the path I went down. I did look at all the options but costs seemed high for a crate engine, around 12-20k fully turn key, for similar 450hp. The way I went allowed me to spread costs out over a year and keep the Aussie v8 which I think sounds great.

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  9 місяців тому

      Yes they could be done, it's all time really in getting the modelling for the locking lug done so they could just pop in like a factory vent but with a blank front. Or there could be an easier way. Need to look at it.
