I never watched this and this is my first time seeing this. When I was younger, my dad would sing the first 2 lines and that's all he knew because he didn't know English and neither did I, we're from Peru. Years later we moved to the Bahamas and learnt English but he would randomly sing those 2 lines in his happiest quirkiest moments. He passed 3 years ago and today those lines randomly popped in my head. Thanks to modern search algorithm, I was finally able to hear this song and finally watch what my dad quoted so many times. It is nostalgic and bittersweet. ❤
One epic and lovable song if it has still survived despite being written and released over 100 years ago (1899 is the proper date), even though it's only the chorus that's most remembered.
I've heard the song all my live (am now in my 70s). Up to this time, I did not know the song was written in 1899. Well, the fact that it is still being played today shows how timeless it really is.
When I lived in Chicago, I had a close family friend, and every time he had an idea to make money, I would start singing this song.. My mom and dad would start laughing. Then I would look at him like the guy in the cartoon and shout, "Ribbit"! 😂
I’ve sang this song to my grandchildren since my granddaughter was born 2016. I have three grands now and last night 1/10/2024 I’m coloring with my 7 yr old granddaughter and she kept saying,.. braaaap braaap braaap n my 2 yr old granddaughter came running laughing and smiling wanting me to sing it!!! I can’t wait until there older and come across this video and say… HEY THATS GRAMMA JULIE!! ❤
This famous cartoon "One Froggy Night" is loosely based on a 1944 Cary Grant movie "Once Upon a Time" that is based on a radio play "Curley" that was inspired by a magazine article. The song "Hello Ma Baby" was written in 1899 as a tribute to a new invention, the telephone. It was often performed in black-face.
So sad. Where's the rest of this great cartoon? I always think of this one when trying to capture adorable moments on film with pets and kids. They always stop being cute the second you get them into focus. :D
I had to look this up again. Still love it. May use the song as my ringtone. I'd LOVE to see the looks on peoples' faces in a store, or restaurant. Got a lot of funny reactions when I used the thermos song from The Jerk. 😂
Hello my baby, Hello my honey, Hello my ragtime gal. Send me a kiss by wire. Baby, my heart's on fire. If you refuse me, Honey, you'll lose me. Then you'll be left alone, Oh, baby, Telephone, And tell me I'm your own.
Does anyone remember that this cartoon played in the beginning of the VHS version of The Little Giants? It would literally play this cartoon every before the movie played.
This cartoon is a classic! "One Froggy Evening" features Michigan J. Frog singing, dancing and hopping every time he's with the construction worker, who decided to quit his job so he can get rich exhibiting the singing frog to the public, which of course never worked out because Michigan J. Frog would ONLY SING TO WHOEVER DISCOVERS HIM, like the guy working for Acme Disintegrators, Inc. circa 2056, at the end!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I listened to this while I read the comic, "Arnold Nearly Avoids a Thrashing" from Hey Arnold, AKA, the final minutes from the episode, "24 Hours To Live" only that song was replaced by "I'm Crazy".
This could be the entire cartoon, and it would still be a masterpiece.
It was the entire cartoon.

What kills me is the frog going back to “normal” at the end like he didn’t just do something amazing. 🤣
Tbf, he’s been doing this bit for centuries.

My friend had knee surgery and when she came back to work I took her cane and sang this to her. It cheered her up and we almost peed our pants.
did you smash tho
Now that would have been worthy of a UA-cam vid! Any chance of that now????? Maybe y'all could do a duet. 😊😊😊😊
👑
why'd you pee your pants
Did you notice he doesn't say "Hello my baby, hello my DARLING, hello my ragtime gal." anymore?!! Wtf?!! 🤯🤯🤯
I love how he's not like "wow a dancing frog" he's just genuinely confused
He's wondering if the frog is flirting with him

Very sweet story. Thank you for sharing.

Michigan J Frog will always be a favorite of mine and this was one of my favorite episodes :D
Dude i screamed when I saw your profile pic.
Awesome!
yep mine too. He is a classic, and I always wonder, how they paired up the frog and the music. It's a marvel, even now.
Awesome!
This episode and owl Jolson are my two favorite episodes
Truly one of the greatest moments in motion picture history. 😆
You are correct sir.
Years ago on some cinema memories program, Steven Spielberg said "One Froggy Evening" was the "Citizen Kane" of cartoons.
These Warner Bros cartoons from the '50s are some of best animated shorts ever made; and this is one of the even better ones.
I like Michigan J. Frog, so I can confirm.
Best part is, it does mean something, just like Toto uncovering the guy behind the green curtain.
It's actually a depressing ass story, too 😂
I love how the guy breaks the 4th wall by looking at us as though 'are you seeing this too??' 😅
Hysterical!
Yeah, I never realized how much Looney Tunes is responsible for teaching the fourth wall. They do it a lot

It probably would never have survived if it wasn’t for Looney Tunes tho, let’s be fair here.

Even if he just sings and dances for you and gets you in trouble? That's the problem this guy had.

It’s a shame that the WB ain’t around anymore
It's a bigger shame My Network TV was to blame all this "and the merge with UPN to become The CW, The CW is okay but My Network sucks and still sucks"
I was born way after that channel disappeared and even I still miss it
It wasn't the WB that made those classic cartoons as much as it was our beloved maniac Charles M. Jones.
