I was a young kid in the 70's and remember Speedy and the Frito Bandito. I'm Hispanic and didn't know ONE Hispanic friend or family member who didn't love these characters. In fact, one family friend even had Speedy painted on his boat.

Looney Tunes are somehow funnier as an adult. The sound effects are brilliant, characters are relatable, and the illustrations are iconic.
I think it may have to do with Loony Toons being for "all" ages, and therefore contained humor that would not picked up as children, because of subtlety and word play. At least, according to comments of other Loony Toons clips and some personal analysis of certain clips.
