The Santana thing was legendary. He said in an interview, he thought the headstock turned into a snake and was coming at him haha
Was he high durin that?
@@tmmuscics2753extremely high.
@@tmmuscics2753
Yeah The Grateful Dead gave him lsd ir something like that
@@Rikisballs oh yeah your right, I remember him saying that while he was playing he thought the headstock was snake and that’s why he was flinching so much
@@Rikisballsthat tracks
The star spangled banner has to be one of the most iconic moments by far
Im surprised it didnt make the list
Can’t just be all Jimi moments bru we know how great he is
Not gonna lie idk why people love his star spangled banner so much. Easily one of the hardest hendrix tracks to listen too it’s mostly just noise. And I love hendrix man
@@cqqfjfghgz5704 because it's powerful and fractured, a fuzzy critique on american culture.
@@cqqfjfghgz5704 it might not be a super pleasant listen totally devoid of context, but holy shit what a powerful and pivotal moment in history, and how fucking cool is it that we have recordings of it?
the fact that woodstock created so many legendary moments, they really lived man
Alvin’s Lee “I’m going home” was mind-blowing. Expected to see it here 😢
Me too
#Me2
Or even Johnny Winter (featuring Edgar Winter), or Robbie Robertson from The Band. Or Ravi Shankar as an unexpected twist.
Swing and a miss
Alvin Lee stole the show.
fun fact, Santana was on acid and thought the guitar neck was moving around, so he made faces to control it
Edit(1000 likes!?, dang!)
Bro why are you censoring the word "acid"? Just say "LSD" if it pains you.
@@5usp3c7 oh, I thought UA-cam was going to get mad
The fact that he thought that making faces would stop the neck from moving around just makes perfect sense.
@@shredman87.57youtube doesn’t care abt you big man don’t worry
@@AllPurposeWater ok, thanks man
Pete Townshend's playing was definitely top 3
Alvin Lee of Ten Years After doing I’m going home, no argument the best of Woodstock.
Those are fantastic, but I think the performances by Mountain at woodstock are worth a mention. Leslie West's riffage is incredible, and the bassist and drummer keep the groove going very nicely. One of my personal favorites from woodstock has to be "Southbound Train" by Mountain. Check it out if you can
Alvin Lee and Johny Winter cant be forgotten, please
Richie Havens deserves more love
Today is the 10th anniversary of Richie's passing, and my 30th birthday, so I decided to make a little tribute to him:
ua-cam.com/video/mMDe4ki6paE/v-deo.html
Please share it with all Richie Havens' fans
Did you overlook 10 Years After? I’m going Home? Dudes shredding
Check out Alvin Lee with Ten Years After. On fire it was!
Richie Havers completely made up the freedom song on the spot that day at Woodstock
pete townshend smashing his guitar on abbie hoffman’s head was also iconic
“Fuck off my fucking stage!”
It is so cool to see what the crazy guitar stuff was at the time. Especially when you have bands like polyphia and Steve vai
steve vai isnt a band
@@hinglemccringleberry9389 you’re fun
Soul sacrifice was somthing else. Everyone on that stage was somewhere else but the same place. The drummer was cracked, so was the bassist and the rest of percussion, then Santana was working his magic. What I would do to have been there
god i wish i was there.
Hearing Santana talk about his trip that day is one of the funniest things ever. He said that he was convinced in that moment that he was responsible for “taming” or wrestling with the neck of his guitar, which had taken on the form of an electric snake lol.
Alvin Lee's "I'm Going Home" is the most iconic guitar played at Woodstock
Thank you sir!
No appreciation for Mr. Alvin Lee? Ten Year After's "Going Home" was indeed a fierce performance!
Dude, check out Ten Years After playing "I'm going home". Alvin Lee and the red 335. Iconic!
Alvin Lee. I'm going home. Very under rated guitar player
Alvin Lee from the band Ten Years After tore it up as well
You missed Alvin Lee! 🎸☮️💕
My grandpa got me the vinyl for ‘69 last year, will be something to remember him by
Umm...Alvin Lee and Ten Years After??? That was shred before there was shred!
All of them man , all of them
Them 3 were epic
Just gotta say, holy shit the entire Hendrix bit of Woodstock was amazing, not just the improv which is already super impressive. He really was a guitar god.
Actually, nah, he surpassed the rank of guitar god, that man was a fucking guitar galaxy.
great videos man, Thank you
I wish you included the Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix, that solo was legendary
Are we not goin to talk about the spangle banner
Loves the first Woodstock jam song i forgot the lyrics of the song
your amazing at guitar keep it up
You can't not include Mountain! Leslie West is a huge guitarist of the 60s, with amaziing vibrato, tone, and general control of the guitar
Damn, Mikey!! ❤
Yeah bro so good from Costa Rica 🇨🇷♥️
Santana is an absolute genius with the guitar
Do a Woodstock '94 Green day video, please, love your videos.
This dude rocks.
Forming bands is getting archaic.
I was a kid in the 90s and already rock was getting archaic, and I didn't think cool dudes would still be around in 2020+ AD jamming out.🍺
Bro Carlos wasn't JUST tripping, it was his first time EVER tripping, makes it so much more impressive tbh.
Holy shit, I JUST now realized that we have the guitar strap 🔥
'he performed while tripping. That's just unheard of' meanwhile the 70s and 80s rock and metal scenes....
I thoroughly enjoyed this Ty
sanatana was floatin man
Alvin Lee Ten Years After
You mean over 500,000 people but awesome video again my friend
You rock man!
Would love to hear I’m Going Home by Ten Years After and Naked Eye by The Who if you decide to do a part 2
I think one you missed was Pete townsends closing solo to end the whos set. The distortion, feedback, playing, and image are all heavily underrated.
RHCP: **see Jimi Hendrix riff** **steal it**
I was confident I was going to be able to come to the comments and say you forgot about Richie Havens but clearly you know your stuff. 🤙
I’ve been there working as a stage hand at the new amphitheater in bethel wood there is now a museum and a monument so cool
love the vid mikey
The solo from buzzy feiten(guitarist for paul butterfield on woodstock) is one of my favorite blues solos of all time
I can't believe you're talking about woodstock shredding, and yet, not ONE mention of the best one: Ten Years After!!
The Santana bit starts of like Layla..
Besides his guitar skills I’ve always loved Hendrix for his crazy style, the outfits always went super hard, the coats or jackets, the colors, he was just always groovy as hell
The fact Alvin Lee wasn’t mentioned here is criminal
I have that same guitar strap with the roses
I love soul sacrifice from Woodstock it’s like my favorite lives to watch
Nice
Richie Havens had the biggest thumb I’d ever seen. He could bar across the whole fretboard with it.
You need to do tutorial videos bro I’m emotionally invested into your shorts. I’d love to see more full size videos
You stay outta his shorts!
Two other outstanding performances that were not seen in the film were Leslie West and Mountain and Johnny Winter. If there were a roof over the place, those guys would've blown it off! 🎸👊🤘🔥🙏
yo I didn't know Johnny Winter was at woostock!
He's a very underrated player. he's a baddass blues player
Thats one thing I took away from Woodstock was how GOOD the music was. Santana was great.
Not going to mention Alvin Lee and his legendary night performance by helicopter
Grateful Dead Woodstock’69
You forgot Leslie West and Mountain. Everyone always forget that they played at Woodstock too.
10 years after.. Alvin Lee
Yo tengo el gran poder de decir que Carlos Santana nació en mi pueblo, Autlan de Navarro Jalisco México. 👾👾
Hell yessss
I really thought you said "all while shitting..." about Santana.
Good thing I looked at the comments on that on haha
Man I wish I was at woodstock
I can dig it
Your skills are very impressive
Johnny winter never gets mentioned!!!
John Fogerty from CCR played great solos on his Rickenbacker 325 while thousands of people were sleeping. It was freaking 2 AM despite the fact that they were supposed to come out and play at 9 PM
Same could be said of Hendrix. Played on the morning of the last day. Most people had left and missed the performance. Didn't really become famous until the movie came out.
You could do a second edition of this video, which would include Alvin Lee's performance. It was pretty kick-ass
How he didn't mention the star spangled banner is beyond me!
What about Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. He was a legitimate shredder for his time and his Woodstock performance was nothing short of spectacular.
Yeah that really wasn't all that "unheard of".
Agree
Albert Lee
anyone else heard that lick thats basically Layla at the start of Santana?
Cool, now do woodstock 99, I need my nu metal bounce riff kicks
Alvin Lee you should be on that list
Ten years after????
Ten Years After
I always loved country joe and the fish when thr play not so sweet Martha Loraine
Most iconic Woodstock moment is Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit
Actually it was just one of those days
Limp Bizkit is better than everyone who played in 1969
@@Ottophil I love limp Bizkit but are you insane?
That song is insane
You guys should check mountains Woodstock performance
Dude check out 10 Years Afters Going Home
Can you do woodstock 99 next?
Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, playing "goin' home"
Would like to get your thoughts on the passing of the Master, Jeff Beck. 😢
It,s sad enough. We,d better not talk
Dude ten years after though
Richie havens!!
Holy jeez... that first pick of Jimmy is crazy. he looks so messed up there. I've never seen that pick. scary looking lol. very cool pick!
To be fair Richie made freedom up on the spot too.....great song ....Woodstock everything was on the spot 😅✌
