Atomstack X20 Pro Laser Engraver Test and Review

  • This is a very nice machine. Power. Speed. Use it online or offline, wired or remote.
    My honest opinion of this laser engraver (which was offered to me for free, with accessories, with the only ask being an honest review video) is:
    This is a high quality built machine, from the frame to the accessories. With 20W laser output, the power can be dialed down and the speed dialed up.
    I’m no technical expert and would never claim to be one, but I do like to get my hands dirty and give things a good testing, within my limited knowledge and abilities, and some self-confidence.
    So what that means to you, if you’re thinking about making some money on the side with some laser engraving projects, is that you shouldn’t be intimidated. If I can do this, you can.
    If I had to find one thing bad to say about this laser engraver, I’d be reluctant to do so. But I’ll point out this one thing (which makes no difference in a workshop) and that is that this is the noisiest laser engraver I’ve tested thus far. Just the fan noise…a noise that I would confidently say is necessary because of the power, the heat produced by the four 6W lasers coupled into one. So, this negative is not really a negative.
    The price point is a bit higher, but you most certainly get what you pay for…quality.
    Here are the product links and discount codes for each item:

      A very fair question, thank you for asking. In a word, yes, but let me expound. I'm receiving a crazy amount of offers from different brands, of varying capabilities and cost points. I've turned quite a few down, but have reviewed 4 so far, at $300, $550, $700, and now this one at $1k. My goal in doing so was to take advantage of the offers in a way that made sense, so I could actually provide good information for anyone, with the bad economy and differing budgets in mind. If I had no actual working interest in a laser engraver, I'd have continued to say no to incoming offers, but I do and I'll be using them more and more on different projects as my competence level with the tools and computer software grows. So, all that being said, again, yes I would, but only if my budget allowed it. I know you asked me for a one-word answer and got a paragraph, lol... but I hope it helps everyone see why I'm doing what I'm doing. Fact...I couldn't do any of it without you all, and I'm very grateful and blessed. Thank you for the question, Tim! -Rod

    Thanks for watching and commenting! Please remember, if there's no verified checkmark by my name in the comments, it isn't me. The scammers are using my name and photo, and are replying to your comments... so beware. I'm doing everything I can to report and remove/block them as quick as I can.

    Another cool review, MSgt Humphrey. Like I said in an earlier review, companies who send you product to review trust your word. After all, they put their reputation on the line and spend a lot of money getting an honest review from someone they apparently trust. To me, this signals your day has arrived due to the great videos you make turning wood. Folks have come to trust what you tell them because of the quality of videos. So why shouldn’t a manufacturer of engravers trust you, as well? They realize their product can be used in the wood turning world and rely upon your review to market their product. OUTSTANDING!!!👍👍👍👍👍

    Once again Rod, thank you for your review which we trust implicity. I'm in the market for a laser machine as in addition to woodturning, I also make some furniture for our own use. I like to add a little decoration to some of my "pieces". This machine seems to very high quality and ideal for my needs. The price is as I expected it to be. I have Festool power tools which cost almost as much.

    Thanks for a very comprehensive yet concise review of a DIY tool that I have been researching for a while Robert. Although I have not checked any of your other videos on laser engravers, not sure if you have either knowledgeable or have used a few of the other popular (Ortur, X-Tool, etc.) diode laser tools? If so would be very useful for your follow-up to brief comparative pros and cons between them. Greetings from NC

    • @RHumphrey
      @RHumphrey  Рік тому

      You're very welcome, Bill! with the accessory R3 Pro, for cylinder engraving, Atomstack says it is good for items as small as pens and bullets. I haven't tried these things yet, but I do find Atomstack to be a company that puts out quality products. search for that accessory and read up on the capabilities, and you'll find many examples. The challenge for a pool cue would be the length and balance of it during the lasing. Hope that helps!

    • @RHumphrey
      @RHumphrey  Рік тому

      I just measure everything, the wood, the size of the engraving or cutting, and then in the software (laser GRBL or Lightburn) I assign the dimensions I need. I then position the laser on the project center point, again using the software, position the wood, focus the laser, frame it using the software to verify positioning, and then run the program. That's it in a nutshell. Hope that helps... follow up if it doesn't and I'll clarify if I'm able.
