Marko is one of the pioneers of metal in Finland and is highly respected for his musical ability. He is lead singer for his own band, Tarot. Plus he was a member of the supergreoup Northern Kings. If you want to check out a really beautiful song from Tarot, take a look at the live version of the song "Tides" from the live DVD "Undead Indeed".
One of the things that make this performance even more powerful to me is the fact that this was the last show with their original singer, Tarja. There was a lot of turmoil within the band at that time, and at the end of that show, Tarja was going to be handed her dismissal letter, a fact that was known by all members of the band (except her). Thus, this particular show has a special vibe. It could have been the final show of Nightwish, the night their High Hopes were dashed.
Well if you like High Hopes from PF then you will love this. This is not an ordinary Cover...it is a proper Tribute. The Boys are at its best. As a lifelong PF Fan I have to admit.....this one is.........aarrghhh hard to say....this one I like .......better. Now its said. This one is more vivid. Marco add the extra percentages....plus the musicianship of the other boys....awesome. The Grass IS greener on this one.
This song is very impactful, especially at that time. It was the last gig with the female singer Tarja (Tarrria), who was fired right after. This add some layers to the song. Tarja was in the band from the start in 1996 until 2005. Nightwish released 5 albums with Tarja. The whole concert was released in CD and DVD with the meaningfull title "End of an Era".
Marco is "primary rock" of Finnish metal and highly respected for this in his home country. He started his career with his own band Tarot in 1985, later joined the band Sinergy and in 2001 Nightwish. In 2019 he published his solo album. He was also part of the Northern Kings. In 2021 he left Nightwish because of health problems and some other personal reasons (e.g. he was tired of the oppressive music industry). For about one year he retired from the public but then returned to stage solo or with other bands and singers (e.g. Tarja Turunen or Exit Eden). His outstanding voice and skills on (bass) guitar made him a valuable part of Nightwish. By the way, since 2007 he was not the only male singer in Nightwish. Troy Donockley also has a beautiful voice but much softer and more suitable for folk music. It is not a metal voice. Therefore Marco is really missed in Nightwish; Floor is able to take over some of his singing parts and also Troy does his best in some parts but there are now songs they will not be able to perform any longer because Marco had a dominant part in them.
This tribute to PF was linked for a long time on PF's own website and was praised by Gilmour. Marco was lead in Tarot for years. Now he sings lead in his solo project and with Northern Kings and has featured as a vocalist with more acts than I can even count. In case you don't know... When votes are taken in the House of Commons, a bell is rung to tell MPs to go to the "division lobbies" where they divide into "yeas and nays". Because votes can happen at any time and MPs come and go through the day, the Division bell is also fed to many nearby hostelries so that MPs having lunch, dinner or drinks can hear it and rush to the House Near the House and over the river Thames is a small pedestrianised street called "The Cut" (see the lyrics) which contains a number of small restaurants. At least one of these, that I used to go to, has the Division Bell fed to it.
Marko is... or was a lead singer in his own band. Back in 1982, he and his brother started a metal band...they renamed their band "Tarot" in 1984. So if you want more Marko as lead singer... yes Nightwish has a few but Tarot has LOTS more!
It is xery emotional for the band, one hour later they kicked out Tarja from the band. Gilmore apptoved this tribute as the best. Greetings from nwAse Sweden
I just found a Pink Floyd recording posted that is a bootleg recording called California soundboard from 1975 that only has 1k views and has been posted for a year now. Different without being remastered.Good listen to those dedicated fans.
Huge PF fan, and at the risk of being sacrilegious, this tribute for me is better than the original. Marco is more versatile singer, and Empuu guitars solos on point, plus I love the finger tapping
@@johngreaves4579 for you I understand that. But since this is a matter of personal choice and not a point of fact, for me as a huge PF fan I just feel differently. U state your opinion and feeling as a fact, which it isn't, but I do respect your opinion

🤩👍💥💯🎼 Hahaha...Marko was the lead singer(with bass guitar) when those you've mentioned were 'babies' in a band called Tarot with his big bro Zachary. Neat reaction mi 'lady' and keep on rockin with them! Greets from Finland. 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Marko just fantastic, Arrangement by Tuomas fantastic, Jukka an Emppu on their best side. unbelieveable performance if you think about what will happening at the end of the concert.
Emppu sure paid respect to David Gilmour! Even the light above and behind them, the circle, is a nod to PF's "Pulse" concert. PF 1994 - NW 2004. Vocally, David was kind of numb with despair while Marko has desperate anger and frustration. edit: earlier in the Nightwish journey, Marko used to sing covers at gigs while Tarja was changing costume or just taking a break - Megadeth, Black Sabbath... etcetera. There are videos of some on YT! All worth a look!
This is awesome song and performance, but this is also very special for us NW fans, because a lot of things happening here. At this point they already knew that after this last concert in Helsinki and the last one of the long world tour, they are about to resign Tarja. Also you can see, How Tuomas is giving a small signal to Emppu, to check out Jukka. Jukka was having a high fever, and also it is told that he was suffering of migraine, during the whole concert. Despite of all of the difficulties they had, this tribute song for Pink Floyd, is still one of my favorite performances, from this 2005 ”baby Nightwish” era.
David Gilmour's original version is sad and David's voice is slow and sad... Marko's version is more like Marko wants to scream all his pain out to the world. And this difference makes this tribute version so awesome.
Marko has been the lead singer of Tarot ever since the 80's, way before he joined Nightwish. Tarot has been active along side Marko's time with Nightwish but they decided to stop performing in 2016 when their original drummer died. Last year Tarot was revived for one summer gig in Finland and they're also going to play at least at one music festival next summer. I'm hoping that they'll release some new material in the future now that Marko is no longer in Nightwish and is doing other projects.
All of my life (68 y old Dutch man) I am a fan of Pink Floyd and have seen them several times. After seeing Floor Jansen in Beste Zangers in 2019 I became a huge Nightwish fan. Seen Floor during one of her first solo shows just before Covid kicked in and seen Nichtwish in Amsterdam. This is not just a cover, this is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band.
Does anyone know where this reactor is from? She has the cutest accent and is stunningly beautiful. If anyone happens to know, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
There’s a lot going on here. This is the performance where Tarja was given the infamous “open letter” to end her career with the band. She was offstage here for a costume change. Jukka, the drummer, was suffering with a migraine, hence him slumped over his drums. Tuomas gave a signal to Emppu to go check on him. And then above all that, Marko gives an epic performance on vocals and bass.
Coasting towards 70, huge Pink Floyd fan - this Nightwish tribute to PF is SOOOO…. bad-ass, IMHO better than the original! And how the F did they get the SISU to perform this well considering the the moment in band’s history 🤯🤯🤯 More so, how did Jukka beat the *** out of drums dealing with migraine 👏👏👏
I reall liked this you and a few other people are bringing me too metal music When Pink Floyd plays this song i get emotional. I really like this i need too check theme out Ola you are the best thank you ❤😊
They obviously love the song otherwise they wouldnt have done it. Not for me though, I'm afraid, sorry. Nothing wrong with it, it just doesnt speak to me the same way that the Gilmour/Floyd one does.
If you want to hear true talent you need to finally get to Dan Vasc you are missing out big time you don’t see this man all over utube there is a reason for that you are missing out
Great song. This is OK, but it lacks finesse and is 'overdone'. And let's not get too carried away with ourselves - it's easy enough to do a cover, but the real skill lies in the act of creation.
Alot going on this night. Jukka had a migraine headache while playing concert and the band was going to fire Tarja from the band and the end of this concert. And they still pulled this master piece out of the hat.
🇬🇧 Norfolk reports for duty 😊 showing their talent with their tribute to a great song ,see the sadness in their eyes as it was the last night before the open letter
also, notice the isolation of the band members for this song. they choreograph everything so well.
A Tribute from one awesome Band to another awesome Band. 🤘🤗

A reaction of David Gilmour years ago: "one of the best covers ever done!"
'While Your Lips Are Still Red😀👍
Lovely reaction, and I really appreciated Emppu´s guitar work here too. He got such an lovely tone, his guitar is actually WEEPING!

The whole DVD "Undead Indeed" is worth watching. I am happy that I have found it.
I love Over The Hills And Far Away that Nightwish covered Gary Moore… This band have the best influences
For another Nightwish song with Marko singing lead, there's 'While Your Lips Are Still Red'.
Yes, and the Islander 😊
Live at Wembley !
🤘Marco also sings a song called "While your lips are still Red"
Marko’s voice in this one is just pure perfection! ❤
A little taste of what Marko is capable of vocally. Marko sings many parts of Nightwish songs.

Emppu’s guitar slides are damn accurate… He is incredible
Marko`s The Islander live at Tampere, another solo. one of my favorites
Emppu the guitar Wizard rulez 🎸🤘

Hello Olavity Music. Once again, a terrific reaction to our awesome Nightwish and one amazing tribute to the legendary Pink Floyd. Loved it.

Nightwish with Marko singing? 'Endlessness' was his last and greatest gift to us.

While Your Lips Are Still Red by Marko next 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great Reaction
This was the band telling the world they were moving on without Tarja...before the world found out. Perfect song for it.
